You can chill those Heinz Baked beans, it seems that the deal to bring Pépé to Arsenal is basically done. Fabrizio Romano, who has been on top of this story even when it was a ‘OH DO FU*K OFF’ pipe dream, reckons the deal is done and the player is wetting his bed in excitement for the move.

I don’t need to continue to wax about this, but really, it’s the most exciting transfer of the last 10 years for Arsenal. We know he wants to move to us, he’s not a reject, his career is on an upwards trajectory.

… I still can’t quite believe it’s happening.

I’m also glad that this summer has well and truly seen the death of the ITK crowd. We’re back to journo’s knowing more. I much prefer things that way.

We still have our cuck fanbase praising Wenger for being part of the deal. Sure, Pépé wants to come to Arsenal, but be real, Raul having a relationship with Jorge Mendes is why this is happening, nothing to do with what we were doing 20 years ago. The pound notes speak and we’re finally dealing with the right agents that can make things happen.

Interestingly, Monaco are rumoured to be entertaining a €30m bid for Mustafi. Jorge Mendes has deep ties over there. He’s moved lots of names in and out of that club. It really wouldn’t be surprising to see us shift out players because we’re greasing the right sort of wheels with the Pépé deal.

I think moving on Mustafi would be the biggest deal of the summer. It would be absolutely unreal. I think I would write Raul a thank you note.

It’s been very amusing to watch certain Arsenal fans sanctimoniously slamming fans when it comes to his treatment. He’s a leach. He’s here because we make it too easy for him to stink out our defence. Why shouldn’t fans hound him out? To say it’s not Arsenal class to boo player just shows a lack of understanding of our history. I’ve been there when we’ve booed Eboue. Fans in the 80s were militant about moving on Terry Neil with protests. Away fans hounded Wenger at Stoke station. Arsenal fans were booing players as far back as the Chapman days. Fans were even booing in 2004!

Sure, it’s not nice. But this is elite sport. This isn’t dopey Dave the intern that keeps messing up the coffee run. He shouldn’t be given the choice to stay. He should go to Monaco and enjoy the good life. Then we should go out and sign someone better so we can crack on with a better defence.

If Gareth Bale can be shoved out a year after signing a new deal in Madrid after netting 4 European Cups, then Mustafi can be as well.

There is no class in accepting mediocrity.

Right, that’s me done, see you in the comments.

What do we do with Nacho and Sead if we get Tierney in is my question. Three senior LBs is not very common and probably not ideal although it’s that part of the pitch we had to play Xhaka in probably 5 games. Still. Three senior LBs. It could make sense only if we gonna be playing with a back 5 I think.

“Looks clear to me than I am talking about the Champion’s League.”

    Yea sure

Same way you know TR7 was obviously talking about Auba through the middle when he literally wrote through the right

You might need a few lessons on effective communication if that is your idea of it

  3. Dream10

Tierney won’t be ready for the first couple of weeks, big Nacho can’t get up and down the flank like he used to, Sead prefers to be a wingback. Injuries, form and formation. There will be games for all three.

    So according to you
I said ManCity will win the league, but what I really means that Spurs will win the league…

  5. Marc

You just can’t admit you’ve been caught out – I even offered you an out earlier but no I’m the liar.

Why you just can’t say “sorry not what I meant” or “I worded it badly” I really don’t know. You come across as incredibly insecure.

What you do need to take on board is now you’ve been comprehensively shown to lie you won’t be allowed to forget that every time you accuse others.

    “So according to you
I said ManCity will win the league, but what I really means that Spurs will win the league…”

Nope, unlike you i do not read minds

I interpreted your post as Man City will win the league but you fear this might be Spurs year.

You used an adverb However , However is used to introduce a statement that contrasts with or contradicts something that has been said previously.

Can you now see how your statement was interpreted to mean Spurs can win the league??

I haven’t seen this twat Pepe in a shirt yet?

Does he have to buy he own to pose in?

Mustafi, chambers and £40m for the gas fitter Maguire.

That’s fair comment, though to pull direct comparison to Liverpool’s attacking trio, is either Salah or Mane a big shot taker? I’m asking because I don’t know, they maybe don’t appear to be from a casual observance.

I just ‘like’ Laca central and the idea of productive wide guys flanking him more than them flanking Auba. I think if they were to do that with Auba there’d be a ton of reliance on midfield creativity which has lacked massively since Santi left and Ozil left the building.

You are so right. I am the liar.
I explicitly said ManCity will win the league, but I really meant that Spurs will win the league.
I am the one with communication problem.

“Valentin July 29, 2019 10:46:49 ManCity will win the league. However I am really worried that this year could be Spurs year. ”

    However being the keyword there

Rather than focus on a witch hunt simply admit your worded your post wrongly and move on Valentin. It’s really not as big a deal as you are making it. Calling people liars and xenophobic because you cannot construct unambiguous sentences is wrong

  11. Marc

It’s not what you said – it might have been what you meant but that’s a different thing.

Have you never heard the expression when in a hole stop digging?

Even when someone offers you a way out you fight it and make accusations.

My god you are insecure. How you get through life I really don’t know.

“Gary Cahill’s future could depend on whether Manchester United’s lengthy pursuit of Harry Maguire is a success.

Maguire’s move to United would likely prompt a bid from Leicester for Burnley’s James Tarkowski – although Leicester may baulk at the £50m release clause in his contract.

If a deal for Tarkowski to move to the King Power is agreed before next Thursday’s deadline, that would then prompt Burnley to move for 33-year old Cahill, who is available on a free transfer.”

Sky sources at it again ..what a transfer triangle

Sorry, but I really think you’re such a scumbag.

How dare you post on this hallowed forum?

I distinctly remember back in the summer of 2004 when you explicitly said how much you loved Wenger..

Salah certainly is, Mané is decent as well. They’re both fast and can generate their own shot at least as well Pépé.

Not sure how accurate it is, but we might still be in for Zaha. Know you’re a fan. If that’s the case, they might be softening us up for a striker sale. I’ll be fuming if they sell our main goal scorer to fund this move.

  15. fsaf

LOL. So Leicester would get 80m for Maguire and spend 50m of it on Tarkowski? Tarkowski is valued at 50 bloody millions? I’d imagine 25m or so.

  16. Valentin

I agree. Lacazette link-up play more akin to Firmino than Aubameyang. Lacazette near telepathic understanding of Aubameyang movement is so effective in a 4-4-2. He can also play the lone striker bringing other players in.
Aubameyang does not bring that when played lone striker upfront. He needs somebody behind him to make the link-up. However his instinctive shot and movement in the penalty box make him very effective in a more limited role.

Liverpool system works because they have also threat via the full back. Firmino is also a decent header of the ball. Neither Lacazette nor Aubameyang are decent in that exercise. I don’t think that Pepe has scored a single headed goals last season so no uplift on that part either.

  17. Marc

I can’t see it, think it’s just click bait. If we make any more moves I can only see the Tierney move finally going through and then a CB.

  18. Marc

For the rumoured £40 million I’m shocked no one else was in for him, maybe there are issues beyond what’s generally reported.

  19. Receding Hairline

Big LOL indeed..and after getting 50m for Tarkowski they will look to Cahill on a free…..sky sources at it’s best.

  20. Freddie Ljungberg

The question is, will we be looking back in Angers at letting the Jeff leave, and is he really a 20m player, guess we’ll find out in a couple of hours.

  21. Receding Hairline

“I know you said it was Auba but did you mean Auba or someone completely different?”

I really hope he would be man enough to read my explanation to him and man up that he worded his post wrongly

I am not surprised he did not, it would have been out of character if he did

  22. Champagne charlie

I’d be happy with Auba out and Zaha in for that front three (and future seasons with Zaha 26 to Auba 30), but I’d be a bit nervous at the depth after that. Whilst I’m not a lover of Auba/Laca as CF options, I’m less of a lover of any one of them and Nketiah. That’s a big drop off. Goes back to the Jan we bought Auba, quality player but not what we needed. Be much better off with Laca and Giroud battling for CF with a winger of note, plus Pepe.

Yea Laca and Firmino are very similar role players. Firmino absorbs the physical work better, he runs more and grafts a bit more, but Laca is a better football for me, much cuter and the better finisher.

  23. Marc

I think the Zaha ship has sailed now – he’s 27 in November so next season he’d be approaching 28 and chances are Palace would still be looking for a high fee.

Think they’ll be younger players available for less.

  24. Freddie Ljungberg

Don’t be salty because Valentin called you up on your super offensive and hateful use of Simpson quotes

  25. Marc

If he’d turned round and said I think City will win the league but I think there’s a chance this could be the Spud’s season people might have disagreed but it’s a possibility.

Apparently he’s just passed through the earths core and they’re getting strange seismic readings in China.

  26. Elmo

Yesterday, the Mail had Maguire to United for £80m. Leicester paying £45m to replace him with Dunk. Brighton buying Adam Webster from Bristol City for £25m. And Bristol City then paying £7m for Ciaran Clark!

Valuations are almost as crazy as the bs in the tabloids!

  27. Gonsterous

The reports I’m reading are that, pepe will be on 150k per week. Still better than the 300k some idiot is on. (Come at me Pierre )

Yes player valuations are a joke now Elmo, and we are the only club not benefiting from it

Used to watch The Simpsons with my son when he was a kid and found myself laughing at the jokes as much, if not more, than he did!

Funnily enough, I was completely oblivious to the maths jokes at the time…..probably why I rarely venture with any confidence into tactical discussions on here!

A few interesting numbers about Pepe :

He only missed 17 (!) minutes last season , played 74 games last 2 seasons, so that means he only missed 2 league games, which is kind of surprising given his playing style.

He scored 35 goals in these 2 seasons, 17 home and 18 away.

He scored against 17 teams out of the 21 he faced during that time span.

Including 10 goals v the french top 5.

  32. Carts

Not sure what you’re trying to say.

So we paid £20m upfront…have we not committed a further £70m over 5 years? If so, then what’s so hard to understand about my post?

  33. Carts

    Don’t jinx it, bruv.

We all know, historically, that prior injury records don’t mean shit once you’ve aug Ed for Arsenal.

To be fair though, you kind of get the impression that we’ve taken more of a pragmatic approach to rotation/managing players fitness

  34. Emiratesstroller

I am going to presume that Arsenal will buy both Pepe and Tierney in the current transfer window. That will bring the club’s agreed spending this summer including loan fee for Ceballos to around £130 million and that is likely to be the end of the spree.

Much as I would like to see the club buy a new Centre Back I don’t believe that
we are going to spend another £30 million + on that position UNLESS we can
shift out Mustafi for a reasonable transfer fee and find a suitable replacement.
The options available on the market are very limited at the moment and we are not the only club looking for one.

Arsenal are rumoured to be selling Bielik and I still believe that we will offload
Koscielny and Elneny for modest fees, but I think that whatever is generated from these sales will be utilised to buy Tierney.

Regarding the ongoing rumours that we are still in for Zaha I find it difficult
to consider it likely UNLESS either Aubameyang or Lacazette are sold. For me
    that would be utter madness.
