Mesut’s agent takes Trumpian approach to reputation restoration

DON’T LET IT AGITATE YOU.

Ivan G has STILL not come out to deny he’s Milan bound. Can you believe this guy?

Our old CEO, Arsene Wenger, left literally 3 months ago, Ivan gets his chance to choose the tint of the kitchen lampshades, and he’s fucking it trying to either get a pay bump… or to go to Milan.

IVAN THE LAST LAUGH WAS TO SUCCEED HERE, NOT BIN OFF A NEW PROJECT 3 MONTHS IN!

It sounds like his contract with AFC ends in September, it’s a crude way to negotiate more money, and hopefully that’s what it is. I really hate the idea that a new CEO has to work with and defend Ivan’s new plan… mainly because there’s a chance it could go badly wrong and you need a steady hand there willing to go to war for the new team.

The thing with new CEOs is they’re all into that 90-day plan shit. The new person will want to make an impression, they’ll need to make changes to show their teeth, and it could be very disruptive. At best it unsettles new people trying to concentrate on their job, at worst there will be actual disruption.

I will state again, this would be epically bad leadership and a totally bizarre decision.

On the flip side, for Ivan, coming into Milan in September gives him 3 months to see what a shit show the place is and start implementing changes in the Jan window. It’s logical to move in the quiet period.

Again though, why would you do it after being a bitch for 10 years?

Why would you do it to Le Grove after it backed you, despite people saying I was getting bribed?

Fucking disgraceful.

Aaron Ramsey has under 20 days left until the transfer window slams shut and he’s this seasons Alexis.

Don’t make us hate you.

My hope is we’re either giving him what he wants, or we’re shifting him on and preparing a mega move for Kovacic of Madrid.

Odd that there are no clubs linked to him. Reality for him is he’ll struggle to get £200k a week anywhere in Europe. The biggest potential payout he’ll get is with us, or if he leaves on a free next year. We cannot let that happen. Some money is better than a year of him protecting his body and playing with the proverbial handbrake on.

Tax cheat, Uli Hoeness ripped into Mesut Ozil in a quite astonishing attack.

“I’m glad this nightmare is over,”

“He’s been playing crap for years.

“The last tackle he won was before the 2014 World Cup. And now he is hiding himself and his poor performances behind this photo.

“His 35 million [social media] followers, that of course do not actually exist in the real world, ensure that Ozil has played exceptionally when he successfully finds his man with a square ball.”

“Whenever we played against Arsenal, we played over him, because we know he’s the weak point”

… was it over? No way, Mesut’s agent fired back with a ballistic missile.

“The comments of Mr Hoeness miss the point completely, as they have absolutely nothing to do with football. He is trying to divert attention away from the real issue, the issue of racism and discrimination in Germany, which is resurging once again within everyday German society.

“As Mesut said in his statement, he accepts reasonable and fair criticism of his football, and deals with that as part of the job. However, Mr Hoeness cannot even provide any actual evidence to back up his foolish statements that are clearly exaggerated. In this case, the stats are clear. Twenty-three goals, 40 assists – which is a German record – and five-time German player of the year – three of which come after 2014.

“Mr Hoeness, we will not waste any more time or energy talking about a subject clearly you know nothing about. Not only are you a disgrace to yourself, but also and more importantly a shame to Bayern Munich and the people of Germany.”

This whole conversation is basically what Arsenal fans have been doing for 5 years. It’s pretty amusing.

‘Ozil doesn’t tackle!’

‘HE MADE 200 PASSES IN 3 MINUTES’

‘He makes Arsenal weak!’

‘HE WON THE GERMAN PLAYER OF THE YEAR 9 TIMES’

‘He hides!’

‘LOOK AT THIS COMP OF HIM THAT PROVES EVERYTHING’

There are many that think his agent is fantastic (Arsenal fans), I’m not so sure. I’d argue that the Donald Trump approach to reputation restoration is not the smartest. It might feel cathartic in the moment, but the average Joe just sees a guy deflecting and not owning a mistake and shite World Cup. What exactly is the objective of this press? I can’t see it as anything outside disruption and revenge.

If I were advising him, I’d have suggested a Raheem Sterling like approach to restoring trust and love. Get people close to him to defend his honour in the media, be photographed outside refugee school you’re sponsoring to help integrate kids into Germany and do some thoughtful interviews that rehumanize you with the populace (when you’re a ghost in media, it’s very easy to demonise your character).

I’d also show some remorse for the picture. You can ‘what about’ it until the cows come home, sharp reality is the average Joe sees you standing tall with an abhorrent foreign leader just before a World Cup. That’s harsh imagery to erase, even if Merkel did just lift Turkish sanctions.

Anyway, that’s me done.

Always great debating with you Receding. Aren’t the lack of out goings a concern? Nah let the finance department worry about that. That’s pretty stupid. Aren’t you talking to a stupid person?

Please don’t give Iwobi 70,000 a week. Jaysus do we never learn

Marko i have nothing to say to u. U need a lesson in civility…

If there are offers for players not needed they will leave. No club goes around auctioning players on ebay. You inform their agents and then wait for offers.

How do you know this is not ongoing? Why is it a worry to you?? Why do u keep stating the first eleven is not good enough..are u the gaffer?

Marko

Pierre and yet we finished where? How many points back off City? Red would tell you most of those would have been against shit teams. Against the top 6 we struggled and away from home and having proper wingers would have helped.

Gazidis is definitely leaving.

It looks like it doesn’t it. Interesting that Myles Palmer says Gazidis sends his kids to the same school as Paul Singer, the owner of Elliot fund – who now own AC Milan.

We have no out goings we’re talking present not future tense. It’s not a worry to me but it’s something the club should be doing. And the starting 11 isn’t good enough it’s called an opinion and really everyone has one.

Correction – Gordon Singer, son of Paul Singer knows Gazidis. They’re neighbours and send their kids to the same school.

Chelsea would do well to have Rob Green in goal when we play them at the Bridge. He’s had a few “blinders” against us over the years.

Chambers in MF?

That’s wild!

“I love that guy. I’m surprised how good he is actually, if I’m honest. I knew he was good but I don’t watch German football too often,” Sturridge told Liverpool’s website. “I haven’t seen a midfielder like him for a while, he is something different. It’s crazy. The things he can do with the ball — he can defend, he can pass, he can dribble, he is fast, he is strong.”

Sturridge ejaculating after seeing Keita closely in training. Lol.

Marko

Chambers in midfield would still mean we’d need a CB

Marko

Almost like they signed a highly rated midfielder mystic. I wonder if you’ll lol when someone says similar about Lucas Torreira

That wasn’t a dig Marko. It was funny to me how surprised Sturridge was. Like when Ramsey scored that goal vs Galastasary(?) and Sanogo shit himself

Re Gazza moving to Milan, the incentive is probably financial. The American hedge fund took possession of the club after the previous Chinese owner defaulted on his liabilities to them. They’re obviously just looking to turn around the business as quickly as possible before making a sale. Gazidis, being a friend of the head of the fund, has probably been offered a small share of the proceeds on the eventual sale if he can get Milan back into the CL, pump up commercial revenues, and make them an attractive asset. Instead of the £2.7m + £900k bonus he makes at… Read more »

For me, if we can manage to get 3 more acquisitions in the CB, CDM and LW/RW areas, then I feel we can seriously challenge for the PL title. Currently Man City and Liverpool are the two best teams and squads in the league. But with these potential 3 added additions, we can finish 3rd or if Liverpool slip up, 2nd, if we hit the ground running. We have a tough start though. If we can get 4-6 points from our opening two games — Man City and Chelsea, then we could be unto something. Have to also take into… Read more »

I think with the changes at Arsenal and Chelsea United fans will get restless. The irony will be I think that Mourinho will turn into Wenger in terms of his style of football being broken but being arrogant and confrontational when questioned.

United with Pochettino is a scary proposition though, so delightfully, Arsenal fans may be singing we want you to stay to Mourinho!

Wouldn’t that be something?

Cesc Appeal

Just sign Bailey

Marc

I think all managers have a period where they are relevant, the only exception was Fergie. After that what made them successful begins to hold them back.

Re Marc.

No I’m not being delusional.

I’m simply saying that with these three more acquisitions we could push for top 2 or 3.

Why not be ambitions for a bloody change!

These signings may or may not happen.

Having said that, I’d be happy with a winger and another defensive midfielder.

Marko

Agree WE seems like a winger is on the agenda before the end of the window. The worrying thing for me is that seems to be it and it doesn’t look like we’re after another defender and options at CB are simply not good enough. You do not address serious issues of quality in the CB area by just replacing Koscielny with Sokratis. It’s at best like for like and hoping Emery is this defensive master tactician

WengerEagle

Bati

Yeah that’s my gut feeling too although I’m hoping he will surprise us with one more first team signing before it shuts, ideally a wide player or a centre half.

Michael24

What is it with these Lycra louts?

You know the ones. The Bradley Wiggins wannabes.

The roads are full of them down here on the south coast.

Get them to pay road tax. That’d sort them out.

Never trust anyone who things they look cool wearing Lycra.

Marko

He’s seemingly not, his Sevilla teams were not exactly renowned for running a tight ship at the back. Away especially they were downright awful for large spells.

Which is ok, besides the fact that the current pack of defenders that we have at the club are pretty average/old in Monreal and Koscielny’s cases.

Batistuta

Weagle

Think we’re done at the back, maybe a winger coming in just maybe but not holding my breath though

GS88

This whole Ozil talk is getting tired.

He shouldn’t have taken pictures with Erdogan, given the circumstances. That’s his own naivety, and has left himself open for abuse and criticism, which he’s gotten.

Next season for me, will be his last chance to ‘impress’ at Arsenal.

As gambon said, he’s been at the club for 5 years, and has only had a decent half season.

Very poor indeed.

He owes the fans and the club.

Marko

He’s seemingly not, his Sevilla teams were not exactly renowned for running a tight ship at the back

Exactly. I think certain Arsenal fans think anyone other than Wenger could come in and sort out the defense without necessarily needing signings but honestly Emery isn’t Simeone and even Diego got some help from the transfer market

Cesc 5 less than Ozil with one season less despite not being a started.
KDB 11 less than Ozil with two seasons less despite playing as a CM this past season.

So what makes Ozil so special?

Now that Arsenal have Alexandre Lacazette up front, Ozil has a world class striker to set up, which should help him increase the number of assists he registers

azed

“Maybe that’s what’s make him so special…. Don’t you think azed”

Erm no, the others contribute far more defensively than Ozil and he’s attacking numbers are marginally better which means if he does the defensive work the others do, he’ll have poorer attacking numbers.

Pierre “Prick…” I take that as your sign of agreement with my point. You know how we both don’t like Ramsey because of his indiscipline even though he tends to pop up in the box and score goals? Let use that same criteria for Ozil, he tends to put a few crosses in the box to pop up his “chance created” stat and every once in a while, he actually gets an assist but just like Ramsey, he neglects his defensive duty.
