The team sheet is in and Arsenal is looking very strong for the home game against Brentford.
Key news: Martinelli has a deep cut on his foot, so I suspect that’s the last we’ll see of him until after the international break. Just thank your lucky charms it’s a cut, not something worse.
Tomi is out, but he should be in the mixer for the game on Tuesday. No need to take a chance when you have a lot of coverage at full-back.
Zinchenko makes the bench, which means he’ll be warm for a dirty midblock in the Champions League. The haters need to pipe down with their shocking revisionist views of how bad they think he is. Zinny is a Rolls Royce with all the add-ons. He will be VITAL over the coming weeks.
Most interesting thing? Look at all those fancy players on our bench. We are starting to look like a team that could boast depth.
WE NEVER HAVE DEPTH IN MARCH.
Things I’m looking out for today?
Ivan Toney. Last time we played him he won the majority of the aerial duels (19 or something silly). He’ll be playing for a move to Arsenal. He will be absolutely gunning to cause an upset today. Gabriel and Saliba need to be locking him down. The last thing we need is Brentford squeaking a dirty early goal. We need to be keeping out clean sheet record clear… especially with Aaron Ramsdale in goal. Who knows what we’ll get with him today… I’m hoping it’s a shop window performance, not an ‘I told you so’ horror show.
We also need a big effort from the crowd. Arsenal has been investing a lot in the pre-game theatre and I love it. Big clubs don’t lean on ‘organic’ to get to a good atmosphere. They work with the noisy fans, they add drama, and they create a platform that allows everyone to participate in the drama of the day. If Arteta and Martin want noise, give it to them.
I’m also looking forward to seeing the Brentford Ultras using vape smoke to add to the occasion. Very weird.
Ok, I’ll be OTW with Matt Kandela AFTER the game. Sign up to Patreon for free to get a piece of that action.

Woah, McGinn got red carded for that.
Yep.. See ya later! dude.. tackling like it’s a beer league brawl.
It’s a testament to Arteta and Edu that there are multiple players that we cant help but consider for player of the season. Gabriel, Saliba, Ødegaard, Saka, Rice. There’s a level of excellent players even just below, in Ben White, Havertz, Martinelli that are consistently strong performers. It’s insane- the quality in this team that we have the privilege to watch play. I’d say the most indispensable is Ødegaard though. He’s the pulse, heartbeat, of everything we do on the pitch. Brilliant captain and player. Easily worth 100 million himself. You’ve seen those “every touch” video compilations on you tube?… Read more »
We shouldnt have lost to this villa team. Emery ball at its worst today.
Here’s hoping that’s a precedent to the next game. Loads of red cards, horrific career ending injuries and broken legs lying around.
“Here’s hoping that’s a precedent to the next game. Loads of red cards, horrific career ending injuries and broken legs lying around.”
What an absolute tosser, wishing for career enders
Eboue
Thats foul. Hope for redcards. may be even little niggles that keep some players out for some time. But not carrer ending injuries. What I want is for us to beat the best no matter what.
Ffs lighten up merely jesting
Eboue Bank
Open a beer, take a deep breath then ask Pedro to delete that slander.
I think you can self edit now.. actually.
Emery teams get found out the moment it really matters ala 2018
Villa decimated. Emerys team at their worst are so crap. I still am annoyed about Baku. He fits villa though.
Good advice Sal. First of the tripartite though.
Others here could do with that too ya know
Ugh… hate to see Spuds win.. like this.. but can’t say as it’s surprising. Still think Villa end up about 6th. Depends on how shit United decide to be rest of season.
4 nil. Wow. That is so shit.
Villa have played this 2nd half like a team who played away in Europe on Thursday night.
No idea what McGinn was thinking.. The game was likely gone at that point anyway, but that rush of blood to the head puts him out of West Ham, Wolves + City games.
Liverpool played away on Thursday as well, and no Salah, Trent, Konate, Alisson today.
Hoping for a draw, but fancy Liverpool’s luck to run out today.
Sh*t, they stole our mojo and the villas are trashed!
That Pool lineup looks weak af. City with their best 11. This is only ending one way.
Yep, it looks ominous with these line ups!
Just bought 2 club level tickets on. exchange for Luton game Payment processed and then I get an error message which looks as if whole fucking deal has aborted. Payment still showing in my bank as pending but no other details from Arsenal to tell me if I have the tickets or not
Bloody Ticketmaster really sucks. Hard enough to get these tickets without their crap technology failing
Club needs to release more tickets anyway – would love to know how many tickets being distributed through old boy network vs silver and red ballots
City definitely have to be favored in the match.. but everytime I think that Pool are about to suck… they pull the game out, somehow.
Liverpool at Anfield under Klopp always going to favoured for me, that said think City will do them. Can only dance on razor for so long before it cuts (see Arsenal last season) which Klopp’s side have been many times this season.
The minute Arteta lied about the Martinelli injury I called it out here.
“Cut on foot” my arse. I said it’s a broken toe from the moment he was carried off.
Still, not such a bad one with a 2 week break coming. Maybe could be back for the Man City match.
Big win for Ange he keep this up Liverpool may come a knocking, imagine the levels of banter that would bring.
All I know is you don’t want to be the man following The Man … in a managerial job.
Exactly Mid with that Unai’s high line being so exposed today giving me all kinds of Baku vibes with Hazard going full techno.
Pool’s backup Irish Keeper probably feeling a lot like Ramsdale did yesterday. See how he handles the pressure of a giant match.
Just feel Debruyne and Haaland will tear the reds to pieces..Konate is a huge miss
City the favorites to win for me. That pool team isn’t a great team. I think quality will prevail today even with Anfield factor. Trent, Alisson, Salah and Konate all missing which is a big blow to pool. Quansah, Bradley Elliot and Kelleher are okay players but nowhere near what is needed to stop City.
Other than the final score, curious to see the calibration of the ref and VAR in the Pool v City game.
pools defense is not going to be able to hold $h*tTy off
A draw would be a miracle
villa got what they are expected to get under Emery now and then, spuds wont’t get the time or space against AFC
A judgment of error from Debruyne for once.
10 minutes in, Pool look poorer relatively.
Let’s see if De Bruyne can last the entire game without getting hurt.
Nunez just blew pools chance by not holding his run, it was going to be a goal all day….
Wow Pool fighting back and look half dangerous
Liverpool coming back in to it. Very surprised.
City 1 up
No way Pool can keep defending like this forver
Lol Told ya
Please. Someone stop this cheating, disgraceful Team from winning another title
Backup Keeper a bit slow to the mark.
There you go. Will be surprised if they don’t win from here on out.
Nunes guilty not tracking Stones
Nunez is kind of a spaz.. he is offside about 95% of the time.
The thing that grates on me most is the 150+ charges that have been going around and around for 5+ years and no closure, and these scum have had an advantage for 8+ years.
They are a blight upon furtbol…
New post
City defence quite easily threatened so far, here’s hoping for a potential draw.
Can someone tell Jim Beglin commentary is supposed to be a vocation where your bias cant come through..the mf sounds suicidal whenever Pool are losing
Darwin is one of the most fascinating players in the league. So much talent, so little football brain. Absolutely no sense for where the offside line is at any point in a game.
Pool had more half chances… Dias should score…
Pool down not out, yet
Say what you want against klopp but he’s never afraid of playing his young players even in big matches and they deliver
