PATRICE EVRA CALLING US BABIES WTF IS THIS 2009?!?!
We’ve gone full cycle people. We have a new set of babies. Granit Xhaka is out there showing more fight in the papers than on the pitch.
“We have to stop about mental [strength] bulls*** like this. For me, it is the same whether you play home or away – you have to win and show big character and a good game and not to always find the same excuse.”
YOU TELL THEM GRANIT YOU ABSOLUTE SPARE KEY WIELDING MENACE.
To be fair to Granit, I find it a touch implausible that any pundit is talking about mental strength at Arsenal this season. David Luiz sits at the heart of our defence, his trophy cabinet wasn’t the byproduct of a weak mind. I think the more likely cause of our meekness is the lack of a clear and concise plan. As Aash said on the podcast, we’ve lost 4 out of 7 against newly-promoted teams. I think the players go into all games not understanding the brief, but against better teams, they raise their levels because it’s more interesting. Alternatively, better teams play into our negative approach more easily. The big teams come at us, the little teams don’t fall for the nonsense.
Confusing times. Not as confusing as cracking the enigma code of an Unai Emery prezzer.
“Each match is important to use different players. Tomorrow for the players, the team and me, this game is going to be important for us.”
“We need a lot of players and to use different players to achieve the best performance. We can make some changes for the Premier League and Europa League.”
Yes, yes. Tomorrow there will be different players.
The great bonus for Emery is the pub games he picks up in the front half of the season. It stops the accumulation of negative fan energy from reaching AIRPLANE BANNER levels of retribution. We play badly in the league every week, then we play a shite Europa team with the kids and win 9-0, the fans forget the bitter taste of weekend football, then we play badly and CURSE that we can’t play like we’re beating a pub team every week.
This following comment is quite special.
“We lost a very big opportunity in the Premier League to finish third in the table. We are five and have chances on Sunday. We have to get better but it’s one process.
“Our strategy is – when I was watching in my office – we changed 10 players. 40 per cent more or less. We are using new players, above all also some young players to give them chances more quickly.
“The most important is the club and team. Our objective is clear on where we want to get. I am very confident in the players, in our job, in our work, in the club strategy and in our way.”
I like that there’s a strategy, though I’m not sure what the content of the said strategy is. But there is one.
I am looking forward to playing Vitoria. It’s a good chance for the fans to lose themselves in a faux reality of Arsenal greatness. It’s a good chance for the first team to inject some confidence into their legs.
See what I did there?
Play Pepe tomorrow night. The man needs an open play goal. Give Torreira and Ozil a run-out. Let’s see Holding, Bellerin and Tierney on the pitch. Those three should have played on Monday, been rested tonight, then played at the weekend. I’m sure there was a super strategic reason behind that, it might even be in the cut/pasted paragraph above, we can’t be sure.
Let’s have a BIG game.
I’ll leave you on this thrilling quote from the big man.
“Our response could be better. But good attitude, good mentality.”
I agree.
Let’s have a massive one, but before you leave, listen to my fucking podcast. It has good sound, some great chat, and some absolutely electric banter. Kind of. I mean. Maybe.

And finally
Chelsea back in form…
Emery out.
Highbury
They were very very impressive and it seems despite missing Rudiger& Kante their defensive shape was very very tight
#EmeryOut
The chavs will finish above us in the PL.
At least they won’t have the opportunity to destroy us in the ELC like they did last summer….
Ox just scored from 20 yards out
Emery is not a good coach. Get rid ASAP
In the Ox they trust.
Man Ox made the right move didnt he?
Looking at the junk we get now, Sheesh, I miss good old Arsene’s pressers.
‘We showed ze mental strength’
‘We lacked ze mental strength’
‘We played with handbrake’
‘Overall we lacked conviction’
‘I didn’t see the incident’
Simple, concise, easy to get.
No fraudulent bullcrap about protagonist, the -off-the-ball press, the pass out from the back et al
Ox Fabihno and Keita
That is without doubt LFCs strongest midfield 3 and what a midfield
U can clearly see that this Chelsea team is being coached unlike useless Emery ball….whatever u call it !!!
Ox will still remain a squad player though during his time at Liverpool.
Evra is a prat.
By all means digs at Emery are fine but to hit him with people like Evra and Ozil is really scrapping the barrell.
Xhaka is an immature baby though. Not hard to fathom.
Evans.
And improving at a pace. Their academy players are PL ready and I think the commentator said that they had 5 academy products playing and not one of them looked out of place
Inter scores
Why was that disallowed for Genk?
Great strong header.
Genk looking dangerous offensively but will probably concede one or two more.
It looks like one of Dortmund or Inter Milan will drop down. I can’t see Emery’s team, in the current form, can defeat any of them.
Pretty much what I was getting at on the previous post, we toss aside a pub team and folk lose it with ideas about us just needing to click in the prem or start with a certain XI. It’s a bit tragic, and completely reduces the role of football manager to a sheet of A4. I’m supposed to absorb that Torreira in front of the back four, and Tierney/Bellerin at full back, somehow transforms the impetus, team press, organisation, discipline from the remainder of the XI? Behave. The faces change, the utter lack of a clue remains. It’s almost like… Read more »
So Frank Lampard is getting Chelski purring.
Those that said he won’t hack it as a manager, should be eating humble pie.

“So Frank Lampard is getting Chelski purring. Those that said he won’t hack it as a manager, should be eating humble pie.”
There was a prediction on here previously that they would find it difficult to even qualify for Europa League next season by EPL placing.
Zouma is still around the team though and he is shite so they can have setbacks along the way with him still running out for the side.
Graham62
Chelsea are a totally different animal to Arsenal.
They have Premier league pedigree who just 18 months ago were league title winners…..
Ishola
He certainly didn’t look shite tonight. The question for them will be who will Rudiger replace.
Do you not think he is a better CD than most if not all available at present to UE?
terraloon “He certainly didn’t look shite tonight.” Well he’s been more than dodgy in previous matches and tbh I only caught the last 15 mins of that Ajax – Chelsea and in that period he miscontrolled the ball in midfield which led to Ajax breaking dangerously. He might have done alright before then I don’t know. But overall still very dodgy player imo This Tomori has been a bit of a bonus for them. Looks better than Zouma and they needed someone else to step up because a combination of CBs like Zouma, Rudiger and Christensen isn’t the most convincing.… Read more »
The way slavia is playing Barcelona, you just know we have the most stupid coach
Chelsea Premier League Winners 2014–15, 2016–17
Didn’t Chelsea finish 3rd last season and beat Arsenal 4-1 in the Europa League Final.
Yeh, so, stop sucking their jerk off managers dick for doing the bare minimum….lol
Red
That team has Hazard, Costa and a functional Cesc. It is a different team now.
Their fullback play is better than Arsenal’s as well with Aziplicueta and Alonso.
Maybe one day we will see Bellerin and Tierney make Arsenal a better side. Maybe.
Genk are giving Liverpool a game here.
Still look lively going forward.
OX is hot!!!
Oxlade again
I think we miss OX’s goal from outside the box
True to history, Ox will have a few more good games and get hit with a hamstring injury
😂😂
Effortless goals from The Ox tonight.
One team taking their chances while the other fails to.
Evra is a cunt, was born a cunt, has lived as a cunt and will die a cunt. He should be more concerned about his former team being 5 points behind us and having spent £130 million on their defence has conceded 3 goals less than a team that looks like it couldn’t protect a tube of fruit pastilles from a 3 year old. Bringing Evra into the discussion is just a distraction. The fans are not forgetting the piss poor performances in the league when they see the kids play well mid week – it’s a bit of light… Read more »

Only a hamstring? That won’t put him out for 4 months that then turns into 7!
We’ve got our arsenal back…. erm, no we haven’t. We’ve just got ten times worse lol
Get Mourinho in?’ Never thought I’d say that but I do think he’s a man with something to prove.. surely can’t get worse than this shower of shite that’s being served up?
Pool scores again. Game over
Enjoy the CL matches folk, not seeing arsenal eating on that table for a long time yet.
For sure we won’t enjoy anything under Mr bland,
No top4
No entertaining football
No cup victory
Complete waste of time this season
Arsenal is certainly on hibernation until Mr bland is kicked out of the club…
Can’t wait for next season already with hopefully a new gaffer in charge.
Chelsea’s hire and fire strategy has proven to be a winner while Arsenal cocked up season after season with the same manager.
It should not be a penalty for Inter
Patrice Evra can fuck off. Arsenal were definitely soft under late Wenger, but we are not soft today. Hobbled by Xhaka? Yes. Less athletic in midfield than we need to be? Yes. Playing without the the right players on the field? Yes. Babies? No. Wenger is gone, as is the soft atmosphere he created at the club.
Redtruth out fishing again… just can not resist this guy. Helmet !!
Penalty saved!!!!
“Get Mourinho in?’ Never thought I’d say that but I do think he’s a man with something to prove.. surely can’t get worse than this shower of shite that’s being served up?”
One of the daftest comments I’ve seen on here. The reason for hiring a manager shouldn’t be “well he couldn’t be worse than X”, that’s not really a long term strategy for improving things is it?
You should be able to make a positive argument about a replacement or potential hire.
Victorious
“Enjoy the CL matches folk, not seeing arsenal eating on that table for a long time yet.For sure we won’t enjoy anything under Mr bland”
Don’t forget the Xhaka years Vic in relation to top four.
The curse of Granit Xhaka.
Wenger of course brought him to the club lol.
Emery and Xhaka both cunts innit.
Definitely not the daftest comment on here!
Bamford
Evra is a cock of massive proportions. There are two massive individual differences about Arsenal today than there was a decade ago. 1) The nostalgia for a long term manager is gone 2) We’ve put a management structure in place that will see the club evolve and progress outside of the managers influence.
ManU have Ed Woodward! May he run them forever!
Manx
Didn’t say “the” daftest only one of them!
lol that Genk defender got rocked n rolled by Salah.
Not even close
Manx
Not really justifying what you said though is it? I mean the “my comment may have been stupid but there were loads that were just as stupid” defence is a bit weak.
Allegri would be my choice long term by the way… I just want emery gone! I’ll take anyone over emery right now to see it through to the end of the season!
Manx
Allegri was my first choice summer before last – obviously his transfer budget demands put paid to that but now he’s out of work who knows!
I do wonder if it might be Enrique – out of work and former connections to Sanllehi. This is not my preferred choice etc only a thought by the way.
We’re a far more attractive prospect for a new manager now, unlike post Wenger-dictator years. We were amateurs in the transfer market, bloated squad that was totally unbalanced with an out of control wage bill. We’ve got a great set up behind the scenes now. Clear intent in terms of spending, much better squad with far more balance, elite youth prospects and have started to address the wage bill. There’s also the added bonus of not following on from a manager who had been at the club for decades and one half the fan base had a strange OTT devotion… Read more »

Agree 100% what we mustn’t do is follow the ManU path who were in a similar position when Fergie left. Having a sacrificial lamb manager isn’t an issue in fact was always going to happen after Fergie but 4 managers later it just seems to be getting worse.
We need the next guy to nail us to top 3 and then keep progressing.
Getting Mourinho in would be a massive step backwards, followed by a slide down the mountain, into a cesspit of gunge.
No! No! No!
Marc
Agreed.
We really need to think carefully about who we get in next. Sanllehi, Edu, Kroenke Jr etc have to do their homework.
First of all it has to be someone who has actually been a manager obviously, but after that they need to decide what kind of philosophy they’re looking for. From the rhetoric it seems like someone who has a record of developing top youth prospects and plays fast, attacking football.
I have a feeling that it might be Enrique who comes in purely on the basis it’s rumoured Sanllehi really likes him.
Lampard’s spoke more sense in his press conference after Chelsea’s game tonight than Emery has in the last 15 months, (not difficult I know.)
The pace and positivity that Chelsea started the game away to Ajax tonight put Emery’s tactics against shef utd to shame.
Hate to say it but Chelsea’s football is on a different level to ours and I can only see the gap widening if we persevere with Emery.
Too me, it shows the importance of bringing in the correct manager to a football club .
Pierre
Who would you look at as our next manager & why?
With Emery in charge, at least you can forget about finishing above Chelsea and Leicester.
Raul and Edu are professionals, they know this is bad, do they have the balls to say this is bad and act like it, well I don’t know.
If they wait for Emery to land us in another Europa before they act, then they lose my vote of confidence both.
It is good that all four EPL teams will likely advance to next round. There are three teams that may be difficult; Dortmund or inter Milan, Lyon and Valencia.
It’s a rash decision if you take a decision out of sheer impatience without having an urgent duty to act. The club made it clear we were running a CL budget playing Europa, which means we are not far from red figures as it is now. So imagine what another year in Europa would do to our book, and it doesn’t stop there; imagine what it would do to our brand, to our prestige! There is an urgent duty to act! We have a group of players that if rightly coached and mentored would stroll to top 4 but we… Read more »
Embrace Jose, and if there is too much apathy inside your heart to do so, what about Brendan?
Ugh?
But Jose is the known, EPL-tested, CL-tested serial winner looking for a job right now!
Gentlebris “We have a group of players that if rightly coached and mentored would stroll to top 4” This is nonsense. Spurs, Chelsea, Leicester and United are all good teams that can challenge for third and fourth just as well as we can. Yes, Emery should be able to contend for top four with what he has, but the notion that it would ever be a “stroll” is fucking nonsense. Jesus Christ, look at our midfield; it’s just not that good. It’s one thing to criticize a manager for his mistakes or shortcomings; it’s another thing to spout nonsense in… Read more »
I’ve said this before, but anyone pushing Mourinho needs his fucking head examined. He was a disaster at United and he doesn’t develop young players. He is the opposite of what we need.
“Arsenal were definitely soft under late Wenger, but we are not soft today.”
Even by football standards, Arsenal are huge pussies.
Emery deserves all the flak he is getting. He’s had a year to understand the league and the players.
This is all on him.

Tony Thanks for the Jona Lomu article. Brought back some great memories. I remember watching this game as a kid. I was mesmerized by NZ and in particular by Lomu’s performance. He just steamrolled over everyone. He litterally was unstoppable. That was the game that made me want to have an All Black rugby shirt, which I got at Xmas that year. Interesting that Eddie wants to start with Ford. We’ll find out later this morning whether he does. He did work well as an impact sub. But I feel he should start to give us much needed experience to… Read more »

Regarding the Ford Farrell axis when it works, it’s tough to defend against with Ford’s precision kicks. However too many teams kick against the relentless Kiwi pressure that really just invites them more space to run the back back at them.
Ball back*
Pierre Reference to your post last night on Lampard, I totally agree. Chelski are looking very good and are head and shoulders better than us in every facet of the game. When our players look at what Chelski are doing they must be thinking “what the fudge are we doing?” They have everything our team(EPL) doesn’t. Cohesion, structure, pace, mkvement, simplicity and desire. You can see the benefit of having someone that not only truly understands the modern game and look up to but, significantly, also has the ability to communicate clearly and effectively. I hope, behind the scenes at… Read more »

Goodmorning.
Thanks for the links.
Will take a look later.
Cheers.
axed
Agree.
My problem with him, and this has nothing to do with his inabilities to communicate in English, is that he makes everything so frigging complicated.
Shite the players must be exhausted having to listen and comply with all his methods and instructions each day.
I know I would be.
Graham62
Utter bollox……Comparing Arsenal to proven winners like Chelsea is fuckin ridiculous.
To be fair it will take Arsenal 5 years before any manager is given the task to win the league.
Remarkable true story:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5952634/
I don’t ask for much from the arsenal. Is it so hard for paid professionals to turn up and play once or twice a week? We should be beating team’s like Sheffield utd. Look at our infrastructure and talent. I’m sure arsenal under emery could lose to a Sunday league side and the excuses would be the same. We didn’t have mental strength. When does mental strength come into play against a pub side?? Get rid of emery, get freddie to do the job till the end of the season. And then hopefully recruit someone who knows what they want… Read more »
Watching a team from losing 4 – 0 to Manure to beating Ajax 1 – 0 away, that’s a transformation.
Red truth
“Utter bollocks”……….Goodmorning to you.
Actually RT it’s down to the fact that they have a manager that knows what he’s doing.
Ok, Chelski have a winners culture. We did once.
Leadership is key to success and if players buy into what the manager sells them and enjoy doing it, you have a winning formula.
Did you watch Chelski last night?
RT don’t be blinded by your steadfast views that Arsenal are failing because of another teams “winners” culture.
Anyone wanting Mourinho is a matter of choice and doesn’t warrant the “getting their heads checked” comment Bamford especially when you’re busy proclaiming that United have a better team than Arsenal
Nothing is a given especially with managers and I honestly don’t have any issues with chopping managers if they’re not delivering…
Allegri might not adapt
Jose may not have learnt from the past
Freddie might bomb e.t.c.
There’s nothing that’s sure except we need to get rid of Emery and fast too as we know that with this team at this time, he’s clueless
And to think that they haven’t bought any player in the last transfer window! You have to give it to them They have SAUCE!
Red truth
If Arsenal had the right manager in place, do you truly believe that we would have lost to Sheffield United on Monday evening( no disrespect to SU and their fans, who were brilliant)?
I don’t think so.
Batistuta
Yes it does!
Grshsm62
If Man City had the right manager in place do you truly believe they would have lost to Wolves.
I don’t think so
Graham
European champions Liverpool were fortunate to beat Sheffield United 1-0. And Chelsea drew with them 2-2. Please stop talking like Sheffield United are a poor team. They’re not.
Batistuta
Yeah, I disagree. Mourinho makes no sense whatsoever.
And United are in fact a better team than we are — or in the very least they play better football — and they’re only five points behind us now. I’ll be returning to WengerEagle’s “I’ll never post again on Le Grove if United finish above us” soon enough. Don’t worry.
RT & Bam
Ok, fair points you have, Sheffield ain’t pushovers.
What would be your red line then? And if it was up to you when would you pull the trigger?
Last night Chelsea played a forward line , average age 20….all English kids. Not because he had to , he had giroud, pulisic and batshuayi on the bench. Would Abrahams, mount and Odoi be regular starters at the club if Lampard wasnt there ? Their midfield was jorginho, kovasic and willian and rely on technique not physicality to get them through the game. They remind me of when we had Cesc, Hleb , Rosicky with their movement and the way they ping the ball about with speed, they are forward thinking and brave on the ball and didn’t look like… Read more »
Pierre “Are their full backs , aspilicueta and Alonso better than Tierney and Bellerin going forward..no….defensively yes.” Alonso is very much a threat going forward and also has the knack of scoring some goals. Azpilicueta is solid going forward without being spectacular. But as you say both attacking and defensively they are probably better than Tierney and Bellerin. Emery really needs to sort the fullback play out because it is sorely lacking. Kolasinac could have had an assist against Sheffield United if Pepe hadn’t fluffed his lines in front of goal and then people would say all is ok with… Read more »
Pierre
One, Emery is playing the kids, so that isn’t an argument.
Two, Mount is better than any central midfielder we have, barring Ceballos, but unlike Ceballos he gets forward. In many mays, Mount is precisely the kind of midfielder we need.
Three, Willian is better than Pepe and Hudson Odoi is better than Saka.
I agree that Emery needs to sort his selections out, but our midfield is going to be relatively weak defensively no matter who he selects, and our front three is not as fearsome as some imagine.
You feel with Mount that he can get on the scoresheet every match. He’s always a threat.
Pulisic is a threat going into the opposition penalty area as well.
They have AMs that are a threat.
Arsenal’s squad meanwhile has no threatening AM. We have Mesut bleddin Ozil and that’s it.
Dark Hei
My principal issue with Emery is his selections. If he continues to select Xhaka in the XI and doing so looks like it might cost us a chance at top four, I think he should be replaced before a January, possibly before December. Same if he doesn’t soon integrate Tierney and Bellerin into the PL XI. I cut him a little bit of slack on certain other things, but he needs to get the two things above right, and he needs to get them right soon.
Bati
Totally agree with your comment at 7.26
Nobody is asking for a guarantee, but when it’s clear as day what you have isn’t what’s required then prolonging the inevitable is a waste of time.
