Well good morning to you all… today, I blog from LONDON.
It’s good to be back sitting on the train, being repulsed by a person eating a prawn sandwich at 7am. It’s just what the doctor ordered. I even made a pal on the flight… we took the front row of the poor people seats AND had a middle row free. We were Kings… for me, that’s the real first class. You can be 6ft 9 and still have ample leg room… you get out the plane first… you have all the smugness of a 23-year-old BMW 3 series owner.
So anyway, a really great day. It’s good to be back in the hood. I’m eating a Gregg’s sausage roll as I pick through the news of the day… most notable of course is that it turns out, OGS IS A MASSIVE FRAUD. After moaning about the term, I now love calling people fraudulent. I said it to my mum the other day, caught her off guard BIG time. So good. Anyway, it does seem like xG catches up with you in the end. All those flukey results weren’t the return of Fergie’s United… they were just flukey results. Now the glow of being welcomed to training with a ‘hello, friend, may we hug’, versus… ‘get your tracksuit on you fat c*nt’, has worn off… United are starting to look Mourinho-esque.
Fair play to Wolves though… they were tenacious, ambitious and they worked harder than United. I am a touch worried about heading there if I’m honest.
The race for top 4 is tipping so hard in our direction it’s making me feel a little uncomfortable… it’s now ours to fuck… and Arsenal LOVE to fuck things up. However, at least the cushion for fucking things is now a little plumper (not sure if that works?)… we can make the gap 5 points between United if we win our game in hand.
You still can’t write off Chelsea… but they do have United, Liverpool, Watford, Leicester, Burnley and West Ham to deal with. There’s championship winning spirit in that squad, I just struggle to see Sarri unlocking it.
You also can’t write off Spurs… BUT they have to play City 3 times in a month which is not only tough physically, it’s tough mentally. There is only so much focus you can give when you’re Spursy by nature, I’m not sure they are going to handle the run, they are in a belief sinkhole of death if I’m analysing this correctly. They have Palace tonight PLUS Everton and West Ham to deal with. Not to mention that a new stadium is rarely a gift.
It is LOOKING very good for us.
But don’t count those chickens… or empty tubs of SUPER STRENGTH WET LOOK GEL out of the Colney bins. Just believe real hard…
Arsenal are being linked with Ryan Fraser. A good player. Doesn’t leave me feeling too frisky I have to say. I can’t even be bothered to write about it. I’m draining at the thought of mastering a hot take. I don’t have one.

Their new stadium is impressive, in line with what I thought we were getting. Instead we ended up with a bowl, rather than an intimidating wall. This is down to Wenger I believe. He demanded a stadium that allowed the pitch to be king. Result, big gaps and the crowd noise lost in the bowl. Pity

I wonder why people keep comparing it with a stadium built in 2019..of course the 2019 stadium would be better.
No argument with Receding’s point but the fact remains that with, a blank sheet of paper, we could have come up with a more intimidating design in my view.

Even under late Wenger, we always did pretty well, based on home results alone.
This season, we’ve only lost once in thePL (first match of the season against ManC) at the Emirates, and our home points total (44) is equal to Liverpool and 1 less than Man C.
Our opponents may or may not be intimidated when they come to play us at the Emirates. The fact is, they usually leave beaten.

The Emirates was built in a property boon period with sky high interest rates and expensive building material. The price of steel at the time we built was astronomical.
The club chose the least expensive option which works just fine even till now.
Why is that opposition European fans still generate more atmosphere at the Emirates, relative to the majority gooners populating the stadium?

I just checked the planned European Super League which includes Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City (England). Barcelona and Real Madrid (Spain), Bayern Munich (Germany), Juventus and Milan (Italy), and Paris Saint-Germain (France)
It seems that the football world doesn’t agree with what Levy thinks.
It’s an interesting spin that keeps on spinning. I’d prefer to think of it as Ozil finally stopped calling in sick and started acting like a footballer again and then was brought back in from the cold. It’s no coincidence that Ramsey is playing more post January transfer window because there was still a chance of him leaving. No humble pie just common sense management to me.

I remember those days when we played Guen, Xhaka and Torr as midfielders and Iwobi, Laca and Auba as attackers. The midfielders and attackers were two separated entities. Laca and Auba were rotten upfront. Comparing to the current team, it is day vs night.
One thing the Emirates has that no other stadium has.

They still would be two separate entities if Emery hadn’t finally realised Ramsey’s best position was central midfield because we would still be playing two sixes instead of one six and one eight, as we are now.
When Ramsey leave in the summer then we need to smash it in the transfer market, because it will go back to being separate entities next season, and we will look disjointed and appear to lack a ‘philosophy’.

Paulinho any suggestions of a replacement? What you thinking are we replacing him with a more Orthodox CM or a CAM or a winger. I personally think they might just streamline the squad a bit and replace Elneny AND Ramsey with a CM and Ozil AND Mhiki with someone.

Statements like these are frankly ridiculous. He’s been declining for over two seasons he’s had a poor season overall and he has made himself unavailable through “illness” or “injury”. This isn’t some great reimagining of circumstances these are facts based on reality. Any suggestions otherwise are frankly not serious. I just want what’s best for my club when you have people coming on and making a case for him cause he passes a ball these days and that’s about it those people don’t.

This recent uptick in performance has as much do with the return to form of Kochielny and having all our defenders fit [except for Bellerin and Holding].

Marko Ozil is not going anywhere this summer…it amazes me how you keep repeating that he is gone with certainty.
I am 80% certain Ozil will be playing for Arsenal next season although i believe next season will be his last

I stated at the beginning of the season that Arsenal had the fourth best squad in the league and that therefore top 4 was a realistic target.
On the other hand some here were so blinded by their hatred of Wenger that they refused to even countenance that. The squad was terrible and it would be a miracle if we were to get sixth place.
Now that the results have improved and Arsenal is in third position, this is entirely the result of Emery’s genius.

Receding – Has he? I remember him being a complete liability in that 2-1 defeat a couple of years ago. If Everton play at that tempo he will be getting hauled off if he starts. We could go there with the side we are playing at the moment and make them look silly and Ozil could play a big role in that, because Everton will penned back, but the problem arises when Everton start going for it.
