Gyokeres for £58m? I would be happy with that. Add £60m Williams and we would be cooking.

Ornstein is rarely wrong. If Berta's great plan is to bring Gyokeres as our defining striker transfer, in what would be, an era defining summer before the most important season in a long while for Arsenal, I'm seriously worried.

I hope he listens to other opinions and changes his mind. There's no way we go for that player. If our sporting director decides to focus our resources, over £60m is the touted fee, this sporting director hiring could turn into a disaster for our club.

I hope Arteta and co tell him right away that we are Arsenal and we can do better than that.

He's got some shockers at Atleti like Felix and Lemar for combined €200m, as well as a washed up Diego Costa for €60m, Jackson Martinez as well, so the fella's big transfers can be a huge miss.

I pray we stay away from Gyokeres. Surely we can do better.

Lol, if Rap hates Gyokeres, it means he is the guy.

Expand full comment

Yes, cause while you were declaring how "we've found our midfielder" about Kai and making long posts how he's our LM, I was sure he's coming here to be our CF. You totally had a clue back then, just like now.

Expand full comment

I said Arteta was signing Havertz to be our CM. Not that I agreed with it. I wanted a baller there. And he used him there till he figured out he wasnt a CM.

You wanted Darwin fucking Nunez last summer. You said Kai was top 5 CF in world football. You write long posts that undermines Isak's quality despite it being obvious. You kept championing Eddie when all of us knew he was midtable at best.

That is the depth of your knowledge when it comes to strikers. So yeah, if you say Gyokeres is crap then he is much better than that.

Rap you know absolutely fuck all when it comes to strikers...among other things.

You know so much you drop about 20 names where 17 fail, 3 make it and you're like - I told you all how good that guy is but Arteta is clueless yet again.

Well. well. I like it. It is to win next season. He is a stone cold killer infront of goal and we need that.

Habesha.Think I prefer Sesko. However,AFC are also linked with Liam Delap.Coukd it be BOTH Gyokores with Delap as a back up? Unlikely, but?

Expand full comment

Sesko is better in the air younger and with a lot better ceiling. But Gyokeres is better at dribbling and looks more lethal. He will be signed to win next season. I can get behind that considering next season is make or break for Arteta.

Can anyone remember teeth gnashing and the Internet wailing when Smith-Rowe was sold? Well if you have any Fulham friends ask ‘em what they think of The Smith. Returns have not been good.

Strange he has been relatively healthy but can’t find his groove. Sad, but sometimes people have to realize the grass ain’t always greener in other pastures

Expand full comment

He was loved by Arsenal fans but it was the right time to sell. He wasn't getting game time. If he wasn't an academy graduate people wouldn't complain so much.

I don't know how it is related to Gyokeres though. I was just sarcastic about Rap's Gyokeres previous comments.

That or maybe he wasn't that good to begin with

I think especially with young players they are almost like planes on a flight path for lack of a better analogy . Once their progression gets detailed either via long term injuries, bad behavior or a lack of playing time from a new coach or even old coach who don’t fancy them, it just seems hard for some to recapture that glory

Expand full comment

At no point in time did he have any glory. He barely kicked on anywhere.

Expand full comment

Possibly, yes.

Expand full comment

That is really good. Considering your opinions on players like Viera, Nketiah, Darwin Nunez, Havertz in the past, I can only see it as a positive.

Expand full comment

Yeah, cause me liking Eddie had anything to do with thinking he's good enough to lead the line for Arsenal and if you can find somewhere I've said that, I promise I'll buy you a house.

Vieira is better creatively than Odegaard, and has a cracking long shot. We would have had more points with him playing in the position of Ode than with Ode. Both aren't what's needed and can be upgraded on. But of the two, Vieira, yes. A player who knows and does the job of an AM.

Darwin and Havertz are both top players. Darwin apparently has some mentality and discipline issues and that's a big issue. Havertz is our 2nd best offensive player after Saka and more than has the quality to play for a title-winning team. Not sure how my opinion on Havertz is any wrong. Unbelievable player.

So something I noticed with the announcement of Andrea Berta which absolutely excites me and I hope was done purposely was no photo op with Arteta. To me if done intentionally the message is this guy is his own man his own boss whereas if it was done with Arteta like that of a new signing it would have been an awful message to send. Good stuff

That Joan Garcia is way too good to be a second choice GK btw. I don't know what our plan with him was/is but if we're going back for him like it's been said, then I wonder what our thinking is.

Raya is 29. He's got 6, 7 top years left. What's the deal? We're going to pull another Ramsdale v Raya but this time move on an actually solid af GK to bring in a potential superstar GK? I'm not totally against it but that's ruthless af and quite risky when we already have a GK good enough to win with.

Raya is not a problematic position in this team and I don't even want to talk about money but surely we should put all of our efforts into other positions. There might be a slight upside on Garcia but putting Raya in such position after he's committed himself to our team, he's one of our best performing players and looks like a top bloke... I wonder.

GK is a position where you're either #1 or you barely get to play all season. If Joan Garcia joins, it won't be just to sit on the bench.

Liverpool has Alisson, and Kelleher, and Just bought Giorgo last season.

Garcia is young, football fans usually wouldn't want young immense talents to regress.

Team fans, want the best for their teams.

Clubs want to win with the best players available in their books.

I see no reason why we cannot buy Garcia.

‘I'm reading he's the best young keeper in Europe. You want that guy as a back up keeper?’

Depends what we pay for him but yes, if we are going to win next season I want a crucial position like the back up keeper ready and able.

Expand full comment

Wait, we are going for a back up keeper with €20m market value and you’re wondering what the plan is?

Maybe it’s having a back up who can step in if need be to secure the title challenge , while also playing in both domestic cups?

You know, kinda like Pool did it this year when Alison got hurt.

Also known as being lucky.

Spot on with the ‘ lucky’ Tom.

Expand full comment

I'm reading he's the best young keeper in Europe. You want that guy as a back up keeper?

He's Espanyol's highest valued player by a 2.5x margin to the 2nd. He's 23 yo and a giga prospect. You don't want a GK like him as your 2nd cause he's way too good for that. You bring him, there will be drama. They will be competing for the 1st choice and will probably make mistakes playing under severe pressure. Either way, if we're going there, it's not to put him on the bench. Again, he's way too good for that.

Keeping banging the ‘lucky’ drum Tom. You might eventually find your rhythm!

You mean responding to a guy whining like a child all season about Pool’s good fortunes after he’s asked why we need a decent back up keeper when theirs stepped in for 8 league games without missing a beat wasn’t good timing?

I’d put money on VVD and Salah staying fit next season, Pedro.

Virgil’s game is 70% anticipation while Salah has better abs than peak Ronaldo, and that’s saying something.

The idea all players over 30 are in the same shaky boat fitness wise is ridiculous.

Kane, Lewandowski, Ronaldo just to name a few.

Auba and Willian didn’t work out for us for different reasons even if some wrongly claimed their legs had gone.

So before you claim a win win maybe wait for details of their would be extensions.

Just a thought.

Saka back is huge, hopefully he’s been fit for a few weeks now so he can hit the ground running.

Well need him vs Real.

The league is gone.

Expand full comment

There is a reasonable possibility at 33 and 34 they both play equally well as this season and they are available for more than 80% of games.

On the other hand they will be very expensive and their form could drop as they age and either may be unavailable for a significant amount of games.

Either way, we'll steam the league next season!

Expand full comment

I’d like to speculate as much as the next guy but no one is giving them long term extensions, two years max.

And if so, both are young enough to plan on playing past that, which means they’ll do their best to stay fit.
