Last night was the best European away performance in years.
And I really think it was down to balance. Timber looked majestic at RB. He looks a totally different player to when he plays LB (especially when he attacks with the cross for the first goal being a delight) . Calafiori on the left also gave us a real balance being a left footer.
Our midfielders were exceptional. Partey and Odegaard run the show. Partey was so smooth on the ball yesterday that it was like watching 2022/2023 Partey. The pass to Saka for the second was so good. And that moment he had where he got out of trouble in our box away from 3 players was incredible. I won't hear any Odegaard Slander anymore. They guy is literally the best playmaker in football right now (may be apart from Pedri). Just because he doesn't have power and pace like Yaya Toure, doesn't mean he isn't.
And that was the best I have seen Rice play in that floating 8 position this season too. He was finding pockets in between the lines. It was horrible to watch when Trossard was at 10. The delivery for that Gabriel header was just incredible. That is a prime ward prowse or Beckham delivery. That midfield looked balanced.
Havertz rarely drifted out wide and occupied those central areas. We shouldn't change our football so much because Odegaard was out. Either Trossard should have played the same way on the right channel or Nwaneri should have played during that shit run we had. We shouldn't change our approach so much.
MOTM candidates, Timber, Gabriel, Raya, Saliba, Partey, Odegaard, Saka (7 players). That was how good the performance was. Rice, Havertz, Martinelli and Calafiori all had good games too. No average performances last night.
On Gyokeres, I was actually impressed. He barely had a sniff with Saliba and Gabriel on top form. On that kind of night they barely let you touch the ball. And he did more than a Haaland would have. For the right price, I would take him. I saw glimpses and against lesser defenders, he would bag a few goals for us.
Wouldn’t trust a word that comes out of that c** ts Neville mouth. An utter snake. That comment was made by him to try & add some extra pressure.Wanker.
As for the ‘ bedwetting’ that’s occurred.Well it’s very difficult to cure once you’re afflicted. But with patience & understanding from the rest of us eventually their Arteta hatred can be cured.
I can't get rid of the nagging feeling that Man City is pretending to be playing not well to avoid serious sanctions. They are still quite threatening, but now they started to make a lot of stupid defensive errors and concede loads of goals.
Yesterday we selected more or less our best starting eleven apart from perhaps absence of White although Timber is certainly not a diminution when he plays.
Both Saka and Odegaard looked on top form and their performances were outstanding.
The last 2 games have confirmed what most of us already knew that when we select our best
team we are competitive at both EPL and Champions League level.
Sadly that has not been the case for most of this season and we have lost games and/or dropped points either on account of referee decisions or injuries.
Pedro has rightly criticised those of us who are of pessimistic disposition about our prospects. As I posted recently 9 points deficit between us and Liverpool is a huge gap to
close at this stage of the season. We are now relying on Liverpool to drop points and lose
games.
Frankly their next two games against Real Madrid and Man City will tell us more about their
prospects. They are lucky to be playing Man City at a time when the latter are on a downward
spiral. I will be surprised if Liverpool lose that game.
Man City have an ageing squad and the long term injury to Rodrigo has clear impacted on their team. I don't expect them to win the League Title this season. I expect Arsenal to overtake them.
I am not going to comment on Sporting Lisbon's performance. I suspect that the loss of
Amorin did have some impact.
In the case of Gyokeres I assess that he is a very good striker despite what happened yesterday. He looks a handful and I suspect that whoever recruits him in the summer [he
will not leave in January] will be recruiting an excellent player. My guess it will be Man Utd
Great post Pedro..totally off - the- wall. Talking of which. would we be prepared to give Salah a 3-year contract, let Sterling go ( has he ever been here?)?
So you don’t rate Gyökeres because Gabriel and Saliba locked him up easily
But wait, our central defensive partnership is the best in the world
So rather than celebrate the fact that our defense proved its worth yet again, you used last night’s match to double down on the fact that you never rated Gyokeres.
Gyokeres won’t play the best defensive partnership in the world every week, that’s not how you rate strikers, I’m surprised I have to be the one to tell you that basic fact.
The best players have been locked up before, Ronaldo and Messi included.
We cut off supply to Gyokeres, same thing we did to Palmar when we played Chelsea.
Gyokeres was not bad, he was the one constantly trying to create threat from their side.
Is he good? Probably. Is he worth 80+ million? Definitely no.
To lift us a level I would like to see more zing. Still believe Osihmen could be a more interesting option. And after Napoli overplayed their card in summer, he would become cheaper.
Embarrassing Gyokeres slander. He was facing two giant defenders and was the only one from their side that looked close to scoring. You forget he demolished City not too long ago? Or are City not good any more because they're in a slump?
Regardless, it was a good win, and it's only taken 4 months to play the best football all season.
Why has it taken that long, Pedro? I thought this is Phase 5.
Resounding win that, great for moral too. The ‘it’s Liverpool’s to lose’ chatter from the rancid press and internet loons is risible. I’ve never seen a title won after 11 games…. I feel we will upset a few pundits if we go on to win the title, and also a few on here😁
Are we understating the importance of Timber? His quality, versatility, and fight makes an immense difference. Not having him last season cost us more than a couple of points.
Total faith in Pedro’s insight since he called for Arteta before anyone else. I swear this man has a crystal ball. If he wants hands-off Gyokores, I would.
Let it rip Pedro! Hilarious inner dialogue surrounding the shrapnel peak. Love it when you are in a playful mood. Arsenal settling into beast mode ain't too shabby either. Now the team believes that they are it
😂 this was a good post and made me laugh

I’m pretty sure Pedro will “like” whomsoever we eventually buy..because that’s the striker Arteta wants

Always a negative comment, Even after a 5-1 win. Why?
Is reading comprehension not your strong suit?
I said it was a good win.
Post Tinged with a lot of negativity though
Small blessings.Its a start.

Secondly is not a word. It's 'secondwise'
Are we understating the importance of Timber? His quality, versatility, and fight makes an immense difference. Not having him last season cost us more than a couple of points.
Moreover, Timber is just another level at right back.
I wouldn't want to see more of this left back nonsense from him. When he is moved there, we lost some threat both from the left and the right side.
Small point but that screenshotted tweet is wrong. 3 out of 5 we've played are in the top 8 😃
