Has Zinch ever scored a goal for Arsenal since he signed? I don’t mind that he hasn’t but i would want him to. I want to see a game where he take the LCM position all 90 mins. From that position i am sure he will score a few.

Don’t sell Zinch. He is a rare skillful player in Arsenal, he is young, he is a die-hard loyal gunner at heart. He can only improve. Let’s not sell him.

Remember the kung fu goal? Also, he tied the Villa game that Arsenal won 4-2 at 2-2 two seasons ago.

FulKrüg is undoubtedly among the top3 strikers in Europe now. He will certainly score 20 in the league. Get him and win the league.

Fullkrüg. Can Arteta handle him, coach him? Or, is he too old for him to have any influence upon?

Naggelsman is a very good manager

Can't believe he did this with this German group in a very short time.

Can't believe Bayern sacked him and are now stuck with Kompany.

Kai on top of the world interms of confidence. Arteta has unleashed a Monster.

Watching Havertz, his movement is incredible. I cant believe I never watched him closely before. Only last season did I do that. His attacking runs are one of the best in the world. Writz also causing havoc running from in behind him.

Also helps that he's in a much more coherent system at Arsenal... Chelsea was a mixed bag from game to game.

But his strong pressing statistics were there for everyone to see..

Nelson lacks ze mental strength a common trait youth without strong father figures exhibit.

Hoping Tierney has a blinder to remind a few clubs how worthwhile a chunky bid might be!

Me too. Injuries aside he can really play for a club aspiring for Top 4. If he is fit he is quality. And at £10 mil asking price, someone will gamble on him. He just has to not get injured.

I'm hoping the lego pieces don't fall out and he comes out of this competition in one piece so that we can get something for him.

Which "dud" did Marina sell for lots of money

Chelsea had a first class academy that was beating the academies of the likes of Barca in the youth CL cup, they had top talent.

Eden Hazard was a perennial candidate for player of the season in his prime.

Marina was dealing with top players.

I remember when Liverpool sold Solanke to Bournemouth, people used that transfer to bash Arsenal forgetting that the player was a top prospect. You can only work with what you have and it's the demand for the player that drives the cost of the transfer.

Okay I take your point about them not being duds. But some of these players weren't no better than Eddie, Ramsdale, ESR and Nelson though. Our players do have potential and there should be a market for them. I would have said nothing like that for the likes of Kolasinac, Mustafi and the countless duds we had. We ripped out all those contracts to be in a position we are in now. The players we are trying to sell aren't in their prime yet, and have shown they can play at least at a top 4 or a Europa league level. So that is why I say Edu has to sell well.

The larger point was the selling ability. Liverpool as an example have sold two major duds in Ibe and Brewster for £20 mil each and brought in the likes of Mane for a little more than that. They sold well.

Thankfully today's rumor from Ornstien about Riess Nelson for £20 mil tells me that Edu knows he has to. Because these are the sort of players we should get decent money for. ESR should go for £25 mil plus. Eddie around the same as Nelson or more.

I think Brighton appreciate Reiss also. I'm hoping he'll move on and show that he's a very exciting player as I've been saying for a couple years. He always had a lot of talent as a youth. Under Arteta he's become stronger and more serious.

One of those teams will be getting a bargain.

His needing to leave is the fault of Arteta. Any subs that were given to Nketiah should've gone to Nelson. Every match where we had a 2 or more goal lead in the 2nd half should've had Saka off early and Reiss getting 30 minutes. Would have made him a more viable player option to sell or use more.

Expand full comment

This is what bothers me a bit with Arteta. There were some games that Saka could have been rested and Nelson could have played as a sub for the last 20 mins.

But Arteta is somehow afraid that making that change will somehow make our team weaker.

A player knowing that he will be picked regularly, even if only for the last 20 mins of a game, can only boost their confidence and motivate them.

And vice versa, a player knowing that he will never be picked, even for the last 20 mins of a game, can only lead to a player wondering why he should even bother trying.

I wonder if this is what happened with Nelson in the end.

Via David Ornstein:

“Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson has informed the club that he wants to asses his options for a potential transfer this summer.

The 24-year-old Englishman signed a new deal last July, which committed him to Arsenal until June 2027 and includes an option to extend by 12 months.

Nelson’s game time was limited last season and approaches for him arrived in January, however they were rejected as Arsenal competed for the Premier League and Champions League.

The north London side would be looking for about £20million including add-ons if they are to let the academy graduate leave.

Crystal Palace, Fulham, Nottingham Forest and West Ham United are among the teams interested in Nelson, who enjoyed loan spells at Hoffenheim and Feyenoord before breaking into the Arsenal first-team squad.

He made his senior debut in 2017 but was restricted to just one Premier League start last season and a further 14 appearances from the bench as Arsenal finished second in the league to Manchester City.”

£20 mil for Nelson would be a superb start to the summer. He needs to play. And I am sure there is a very good PL player in there. But he isn't at the level we need him to be now.

Issue is he is part of the HG quota and we don't have enough to sell him and Ramsdale, Eddie and ESR

Raya, Saliba, White, Rice, Saka, Martinelli, are all classed as homegrown.

Swap Ramsdale with a homegrown reserve keeper, and that’s our 7.

We’re fine.

It's 8 minimum HG Rich

We don’t necessarily need 25 players in our squad, or we could have both our backup keepers homegrown.

City won the treble with 19 outfield players + 3 goalkeepers.

We just need to swap some of Partey, Zinchenko, Tomi, Smith Rowe, Jesus, with players with better levels of availability.

Just reading gooner twitter and this is a quote from Charlie Watts from podcast he was on -

----------

"on why Arsenal links to Toney have gone quiet: “They don’t like him. They met him & didn’t like him.

When he signed with his agency in August last year, they said what do you want, he said get back playing, get back in the England squad & move to a big club, preferably Arsenal. He saw himself fitting in as the #9, he thought he would get tons of goals & he thought he’d suit the system.

They met him & they purely didn’t like him. With Toney, there’s just stacks of evidence of a personality that you’d imagine Arteta didn’t want around the squad."

It is actually teamnewsandtix (he has been an okay source) who said that on Charles Watts's podcast. Charles wasn't the one who said it.

He said that they met Toney and they didn't like his character. The consistent badmouthing of his own club and the gambling problem and his ego when they met him made them change their mind.

I heard the podcast and it's obvious TNAT has great sources.

Also I've been saying for a year that aside from being very overrated by mad gooners.... Arteta would never want him in this team.

The only surprise is that they bothered to meet him at all.

I'm glad to hear that they taking Edu policy of interview potential players and see what they are like seriously, a dressing room of players who like one another and get along fine creates good atmosphere, you dont want players who are negative all the time spoiling vibes.
