Okay I will give you the Alaba deal marginally. Even then Bayern could have gotten £40m for him.

They offered PSG €170m for Mbappe with a year left and they declined it.

Rudiger had already agreed a contract with Chelsea. When Abramovich got kicked out of Chelsea, they couldn't offer him the same terms then Madrid came in.

Liverpool were stupid enough to let all three of their best players to run down their contracts to zero. Even then I saw Real wanted to pay for Trent in January and Pool refused any discussions let alone offers.

Real Madrid are gangsters. But they know all too well when you fuck everyone over, teams won't want to do business with you anymore. There is already bad blood between them and Bayern over Alaba and Kroos. The same with PSG with Mbappe. Now with Liverpool with Trent. Some of these teams are their primary buyers for players they want to sell.

We won't get a 100m for Saliba with a year left. It will be closer to £60 to £70m. They will pay that but we have to be willing to sell if he wants to go.

You’re not seriously saying teams won’t buy from them out of spite when they really want what they’re selling, are you?

That’s just crazy.

Wenger lost out on Higuain ( reportedly) because Napoli came in late and offered more than what had already been agreed to, yet Wenger still went back and did the Ozil deal with them.

And no one was more principled than big Weng.

That is what I am saying. You need good relationships with most clubs you do business with. It is part of the reason we backed off when Brighton got angry over Caicedo. This isn't like fans trolling each other. These clubs have rules of engagement behind the scenes. When you break that, then teams don't do business with you for a while.

The relationship between us and Man City is now broken. Same for Bayern and Madrid, same for PSG and Madrid. You won't see them doing business in the next 5 years.

It doesn't matter what you have, clubs will look for other alternatives rather than coming to you. Less buyers means less money because of lack of competition.

They sold Higuain because they got a better offer. That is just business. And our relationship wasn't dead with them because it didn't involve them getting our player for free. That is not breaking the rules. But encouraging players to run down their contract and not wanting to pay with a year left angers clubs. Madrid will know that.

They offered €170m for Mbappe with a year left. Why? He would have been theirs on a free a year later. They did that because there is an unspoken rule about business.

Maybe they offered to pay for Mbappe because there was a real chance he would extend with PSG if he was on the fence about it, and players like him don’t become available every season.

He was never going to extend his deal. He signed a 2 + 1 year deal after Macron convinced him to stay at PSG.

The one year option was if he wanted to stay and was only activated if he wanted to stay. And he removed that clause because he wanted to leave which basically meant he signed a 2 year deal previously. That meant he had a year left telling PSG he was leaving either that summer or the next. They even suspended him from training that summer.

PSG were stupid so they didn't take the offer. He left a year later on a free. Everyone knew he was going to Madrid.

Ok, explain this to me then; Real and Anceloti have been admiring TAA for a few years now, apparently, so why havent they made any offers to buy outside of rumors of interest?

And since no offers to buy had been made how do you go about selling a player you want to keep?

You believe me now on Mbappe?

I don't fully know about Trent. There are already rumors that Madrid wanted conversations with Liverpool about Trent last summer. And that Trent told Liverpool he wanted to leave with Klopp last season. They aren't confirmed by anyone credible yet though.

But Real Madrid's interest goes back 2 years. And they would have paid the money last summer if Liverpool put feelers out that he is for sale. But we will know more after the deal closes and he signs for Real Madrid. But what we for sure know is, they still wanted to pay money for him in January and that is documented by the likes of Ornstein.

When it comes to players with a year left, you either tell them they have to go or they sign new deals. That is how you sell. Liverpool did neither. They just hoped for the best. Chelsea sold mount with a year left.

This is a hypothetical anyway. We don't have to debate this. It is my opinion. If Saliba wants to leave, And Real Madrid want him, they won't wait a year just to save money. I believe we will at least get £60m if we don't do what Liverpool did and keep him on the last year of his deal hoping he signs. You can disagree though.

🚨⚪️ Real Madrid are monitoring Trent Alexander-Arnold's contract situation at Liverpool.

Current deal expires in June '25 with no talks underway as of now.

Liverpool have not indicated any desire to sell at this stage.

This was a year ago. Pool just didn't sell or make him sign. They didn't want to sell hoping he renews, which was stupid.

The fact Real want a player alone can torpedo negotiations , especially in times when no one can tell what’s real and what’s bs anymore.

We’ll see how you feel about them when the Saliba renewal comes about, but I’m not seeing it in pretty colors.

I am saying either we will be smart enough to sell at £60m to £70m if he doesn't renew next summer or he goes free the summer after that. It is our choice whether to be stupid enough or not to take the deal.

Real Madrid will want to pay for him next summer.
