Hear! hear! - (fists banging on tables), so well put. Something tells me you’re going to have to keep the reminders going till the season ends. Everything went our way last night, that was lucky alright. We fuck up tonight and it’ll be like we’re the only ones who ever do.
Did you see how good West Ham were btw, with just one week of Potter?
Best young coach In the world? You are very funny. What then do we call Xabi Alonso that is winning trophies in Germany??? I’m sorry to say it but I’d query my manager about his credentials if he should refer to a coach that has won only one FA cup in 5 seasons with the much support he has received from the board, the best young coach in the world. Who cares about coming 2nd place twice or scoring the highest goals when you can’t deliver when it matters?
The truth is that by the time we go trophyless again this season, the so called best young players we have would start looking elsewhere to go and win trophies. You have been playing a blind angle to the fact that a coach from Netherlands has joined the league and about to win the EPL in his debut season without spending much
What is even the importance of being the best young manager in the world? Are we running an academy of coaches? Does it means if we are to sell him we'll get more money because he's young? Does it mean we have so many years left in him to serve us? Managers are hired to develop players and win trophies and titles. Managers are not hired to make mistakes because they are young. Managers are not meant to be with a club for the rest of their career. There is no such thing as 'one club coaches' if a better offer comes for him before evening today, he will leave. This is not Arsène Wenger. Arteta has no loyalty, not to players who won him his only trophy to date or the one that saved his from sack. How does anyone think he'll be loyal to us? If he wants to go tomorrow, all we'll get is compensation. So people should just stop saying nonsense like best young coach. There is no price for that.
Aubemayang saved his arse. He won Mike his only trophy. Truth.
The team was really Emery's team he built. What I dont like about Mikel is he only likes choir boys. He likes yes men, all around, his players his coaches. He cannot handle big personalities, like many strikers have. its what makes them do what they do. The ego, the flair, the confidence, its all part of their personalities. You dont shut that up. you learn to work with it. Mikel has not learned to work with any tough personalities at Arsenal. Just look at the names he shipped off. Kai is a yes man. Look at all our players, they are nice guys mostly, soldiers to do the task at hand.
Auba had his issues for sure, but you learn to manage him. Other strikers too. Anyone remotely difficult he has shipped off. Talented players who another coach would have kept - im sure
I think we can all agree we played our best football in the second half of last season. But the midfield was mostly Jorgi at 6 and Rice and Ode at 8s. Whilst Partey has been one of our best players this season, the balance of our midfield has been much worse.
I’m not saying it’s because of Partey, because rice and Ode have both been off the pace. But I do wonder whether or not reverting to last season’s midfield 3 might result in a form uptick.
me thinks Sane might be one that we shoot for based on MIkes experience with him. I wouldnt mind a loan, he can dribble down the middle as well. Better than Sterling IMO
‘We made some gambles that didn’t payout. We didn't buy cover for Odegaard, hoping Ethan would be the guy.’
Dude STOP throwing Ethan under the bus to defend Arteta. Nwaneri got next to fuck all chances to show his worth as cover for Ode. He could barely get a game in the first third of the season and when he did in the league cup he was class. When he played in the league it was very rare late cameos and in those games the team never played tactically to his strengths by passing him the damned ball. Instead we were playing donutball going to the wings all the time. He finally started to get some starts just before his injury and looked very promising
I know you don’t want to talk shit about arteta but throwing Ethan under the bus to defend him every week is honestly an awful take
Who says Ethan is not good cover for Ode? Based on what exactly? Arteta doesn’t trust him is not a valid answer
Funny how y’all are condemning Arteta for not playing Nwaneri enough when some of your brothers are also attacking Arteta for overplaying him in back to back games causing his injury. Well, one thing is constant, y’all are just totally clueless.
Ryan, you have to be able to accept reality. Ethan was cover for Odegaard, Arteta didn't use him, then he put him on the wing. That's not throwing Ethan under the bus at all. That's the actual take. If you can't handle it, that's your issue.
That doesn’t mean Ethan isn’t acceptable cover for Ode. It means Arteta didn’t trust him to cover Ode.
You are once again mistaking Arteta’s decision making as infallible despite the fact the guy has a long history of only realizing how good someone is after having his hand forced to use them.
ESR saved his job. Martinelli in the heady days of him being effective. Saliba. That you think Ethan must not be capable because Arteta doesn’t shows you’re no better than an old AKB from the old days you used to criticise for a lack of critical thinking.
You have a circular argument which is affording infallibility to arteta’s decision making
Which is both odd and unwarranted. You can rate Arteta and still think he makes mistakes. You admitted yourself he’s made mistakes with beasting his favourite players until eventually they get injured then 5 mins later you do an about face and Arteta is once again infallible.
The club saw enough of Ethan in the last 2 years to make a decision that we could sell ESR and loan out Vieira without missing them BECAUSE we had Ethan.
Ethan has started only a handful of games this season and mostly been class wherever he played. In between those rare starts he had a small handful of second half cameos where the team barely even passed him the ball. Saka got injured so he finally gets to start in the first team and he is quality.
Now he’s back to not good enough because it suits your pro arteta narrative. It’s all just very transparent Pedro. Don’t throw our prodigious kid under the bus to save the manager’s face. It’s crazy that you’re willing to do that. If he actually had lots of games at right 8 and played really badly, fine. That HASNT happened to date.
So If Nwaneri isn't an acceptable cover for odegaard, why then did arteta made him the main cover for odegaard? Didn't he see him enough in training for him to realize it? I mean he is been training him for two seasons continously. If you earn 15m annually and can't decide if a player you have trained for two years is good enough or not. You have to build a whole season on a player you are yet to test in real game situation yet you sold the only player who's done so severally. So whose fault is that?
Pedro ‘Arteta overplays his favourite players like Saka and ode’
Also Pedro ‘rotation option Ethan can’t get a game because he’s not good enough’
That’s called having your cake and eating it. If Ethan is not good enough, wtf is merino who has frankly so far been completely anonymous? He’s got plenty of games regardless of being far off the pace so far. Same privilege isn’t afforded to Ethan tho
Tonight’s results opened the door once again. All four of our rivals dropped points.
A huge opportunity, that we rarely take,to close the gap.Wil Tets grow a pair & seize the day with some dynamic football or bore us to death once again & blow a golden opportunity?
I’m not feeling confident about the spurs game based on our form, so I can only hope my fears are misplaced. If we win we cut the gap to 4 points, move 6 ahead of Chelsea and 8 ahead of city.
Supposedly zubi agreed terms with us to join this summer which seems a bit of a pointless update given without an agreed contract with all parties, he’s free to change his mind and has 6 months to do so. Any such agreement without a contract is worthless.
As well whilst DM is a top priority this summer it’s not a priority at all this Jan. Are we investing our energy in the right places at the moment? If we exit this window (or even the next week or so) without a forward of any sorts but we’ve been trying to agree personal terms for summer signings then that’s a royal fuck up again.
I am not so sure any of the wingers you mentioned are cheap-ish. Dortmund are thinking Gittens is a £80m player minimum after Sancho and Bellingham. Mbuemo and Semenyo (Bournemouth have an injury crisis upfront) are in teams that really need them. And even Dibling will not be easy to move with him being Southampton's only hope to stay in the league.
May be Look man with rumors he has a release clause and with Atalanta being a selling club. The rest won't be possible.
Love the optimism. Love Arteta. But turning back to July, in what universe is a 20yr old Sesko, diamond in the rough,NOT SIGNED, because of Kai Havertz? Havertz has a role, and a central role, but Sesko is the type of player that could have been acquired relatively cheaply and become a MONSTER wearing our colors. (Yes, I’m American).
Arteta is a master strategist, and I trust him. But the clinical finisher is what we have needed for at least 12 if not 18 months. We create sooo many chances with saka and mo healthy. We can’t keep relying on set pieces.
I understand our goal scoring record is relatively healthy over the past several seasons, but how many open play goals to we score relative to our primary competitors? I think that is what we need to look at instead 0f Gabriel, White or the magnificent Frenchman Saliba pounding in set pieces or chaos after a missed shot.
Hear! hear! - (fists banging on tables), so well put. Something tells me you’re going to have to keep the reminders going till the season ends. Everything went our way last night, that was lucky alright. We fuck up tonight and it’ll be like we’re the only ones who ever do.

Olatunde, bro you are always bringing it.
We should send Sterling to Villa and get Malen
I think we can all agree we played our best football in the second half of last season. But the midfield was mostly Jorgi at 6 and Rice and Ode at 8s. Whilst Partey has been one of our best players this season, the balance of our midfield has been much worse.

Liverpool leaving the door open for Next Season FC is good to see. Can we take advantage? Remains to see
At least if we don’t we can do it next year instead
me thinks Sane might be one that we shoot for based on MIkes experience with him. I wouldnt mind a loan, he can dribble down the middle as well. Better than Sterling IMO

Not sure why this has to be such a problem for you.

Pete,
This speaks to his lack of rotation of his favorites. Look what happened now to Saka.
Exactly
Pedro ‘Arteta overplays his favourite players like Saka and ode’
Also Pedro ‘rotation option Ethan can’t get a game because he’s not good enough’

Pool Chelsea and city all draw

Hope I’m wrong
Mike A only wants CDMs now apparently. New favorite
Ornstino basically knocking back a striker this window. But there’s plenty of Wingers available, even on loan.
https://x.com/David_Ornstein/status/1879303732351095009
Ornstien with the updates. He is saying Vlahovic and Sesko are unlikely. And we are trying to pay a bit more for Zubimendi without the release clause.
No idea what we are looking at interms of signing forwards then.
Saka is out for 2 months. For me that's #1 priority. Creative winger and if they can also help through the middle, that's a bonus.
Barcola makes sense, Lookman, Mbeumo, Semenyo, Jamie Gittens of Dortmund who's a Reading local boy. I like Dibling, but he's a bit too young.
Plenty of wingers we can buy cheapish.
Compared to CF - a CF has to be 1. top quality, 2. available in January, 3. for not an impossible fee.
I am not so sure any of the wingers you mentioned are cheap-ish. Dortmund are thinking Gittens is a £80m player minimum after Sancho and Bellingham. Coman on loan?Gittens, loan with obligation to buy?,Lookman?Sane?Williams, release clause??They are achievable now.
im guessing Sane on loan
at least he can dribble in the middle

My two cents on the left side of the pond.
Mike does not like strikers. Only ones like Kai, who do defensive work, can play anywhere he wants to play him
Great results today looking forward to the NLD tomorrow got a day off Thursday as I know I will be home late.
The exact same situation here. Hoping we get a good confidence boosting win
