There is no denying that Arteta has laid great foundations for the club to be successful.
The last step is now for him to get us over the line.
I think a lot of people, like myself, were expecting an explosive start.
I know we've had a very bumpy start to our season which has dented the expectations quite a bit.
But as you say it's all about the ride. I am really curious to see how Arteta handles this season and I do hope we get a trophy of some kind at the end of it.
Thank you! And yeahhh, there's every chance we go on and win it, but I'm secretly worried the stumble might be a bit too much to recover... hence why i'm looking for ways not to write off the season in November!
There is an anonymous acct on twitter for past 2 yrs that has connections with the club and wrote this today.

The Future of the Emirates Stadium is now under discussion -
1. Architecture firms are submitting plans on the upgrade
2. More concerts and events are on the horizon as a team of Full time event planners have been hired.
3. Underneath the Drayton apartments and Club Museum plans are underway to build large dressing room and warm up areas typical to American football . With a connection to the Stadium.
4. Talks are in discussion to remove the underground carpark and lower the pitch but include system to protect the pitch when events are taking place.
5. A smaller sized seating plan was originally discussed, this could gain capacity of over 4000 seats with little investment. The Kroenkes plans are much larger than a 4K improvement.
6. Areas in North London are being sought after for future development, An Arsenal Hotel and Leisure facility, Arsenal gym . A Culture hall to host seminars, concerts and Art gigs such as stage and screen. Arsenal also want to build an indoor football facility in London and hand it over to the community groups.
Know that Stan Kroenke privately financed the $5 billion SoFi Stadium and surrounding complex, through his company, StadCo LA, LLC. An unheard of undertaking in American sports venues. Stan Kroenke, at heart, is a real estate developer.
"Arsenal goalkeeper Tommy Setford kept a clean sheet as England U19s drew 0-0 with Belgium today in their final qualifier. Myles Lewis-Skelly captained England, who finished top of their group with seven points. Ethan Nwaneri featured as a substitute as he came on in the 73rd minute."
PGMOL probably also runs the EL and UCL I guess. So there goes our chance of winning anything ever again. PGMOL don't want us to win. It's ok, let's just exist.
Incredibly long post. I'm not a fan but it must have taken huge effort so weldone. I'm also not a fan of the tone of the post. It's toxic positivity material. Not what we need at this point as a fanbase if I'm being honest. We can't keep making unlimited excuses for a project that is into it's 5th year without any success.
Taking two 2nd place finishes in isolation looks good. When you try to be more objective it doesn't look that much good anymore. Here are the reasons.
- it was in our hands but we capitulated both times to let City in.
- it's not only the league that's in offer. We have 3 other competitions every season in the English football league season.
- we haven't come even close to winning any of the other titles and have out lost at times to mediocre teams at home.
- this is the 5th year of this project.
Silver lining is that this season is still on going and we could be successful on it still. I don't believe we will win the league anymore (mathematically imposible at this stage) but there's the UCL, Fa cup and Carling cup to aim for.
If we end this year without anything at all, then it's me properly done with Arteta. No excuses or enjoyment from the delusion FC fans should save him.
Brilliant read mate. A different style to what I am used to here but I loved it! Thanks for writing as a fan (a romantic just like me). May the tide turn for us this season, hopefully! COYG!
Thank you for the long read, though it was a bit too long for me. Just to be pedantic but Arteta ball I would also classify it as Basque ball as he is also from that region hehehe. Also I have to remind myself that Tets has won 3 trophies (not the ones we want), that's more than Ten Hag but that's not the reason why the clown ia no longer in charge while Arteta is now one of the best paid managers in the league, it's because the progress has been insane from being a middle table banter club to project phasing title challenging one!
thanks! and 100%- desperate to win a trophy asap- feels like then we'd be able bask in the near misses too, otherwise it's all just gonna look like pain in the rear view mirror
So Mike was stateside talking to the Kronkes about Jan apparently. I hope someone at the club can speak some sense to him. The worry is now that Edu is essentially gone, that the club will automatically defer to Mike. Not a good idea. Now is the time to change that. Our attack is in bad shape. Marti still sputtering, Tross misfiring, Saka hurt almost every game, Ode out, what happens if Kai gets a bad one? Or Ode again? Saka? TP is playing great but heaven forbid he goes out. We have TT that is perma crock almost Diaby like. Diaby was a great tho, cant say the same for TT.
This Jan is crunch time for our season. If we are in striking distance, we need to get a new striker and another attacker. on loan or otherwise
I'm against praising Arteta or comparing him to the greats. Give him applause for progressing us to this point, but he needs to win the PL or CL now. He's literally in his judgement season. Fail, and the criticism and the knives coming out are justified. All these nonsense posts about project phases are just nonsense. He has been manager for many seasons now and has extended his contract. Repay that contract by winning the PL trophy. Let's see how the rest of the season plays out. If he continues his rubbish mistakes, then I'm ready for someone new to take over.
Winning the PL or CL is dependent not just on us but the level of the competition
If city and Liverpool get worse, we could win titles just by treading water (which is not great).
Meanwhile we could improve but still win nothing because our rivals improve even more. Hard to blame Arteta if that happens
Context matters. It’s why I didn’t criticize us coming second last season. We were BRILLIANT in the league second half of next season.
But this season we need to try and be even better. It’s early days but so far the opposite has been true. We look less confident, more readily leak goals and lack the killer instinct we had in abundance last season. In order to outperform last season it’s probably going to need a bit of a miracle now. Do any of us think we’re going to win all but 2 games in the new year (that would only be treading water vs last season)?
Last year we also had the excuse of bedding in multiple key new starters like Rice and especially Havertz before Christmas. This year we have a far more settled team and our signings can all be squad players with less pressure on their immediate adaptation
Long story short, rather than just making the conversation a binary win vs lose question which ignores all the fundamental context underpinning everything, we should be celebrating or criticizing based on the context which underpins our situation.
That context says as of now we’ve not started well and we don’t have much of an excuse for that in spite of what people say. There is still room for us to improve on last season but frankly it doesn’t look very likely based on our first 10 odd games (and CL performances to boot)
Correct the errors we all know he has that derail us every season from winning the PL. How is he not to blame? Context? How many points did City beat us to the title? He needs to correct those fine margins, and I'm yet to see those corrections. We're doing even worse now. I'm not even sure the return of Ode solves it. We have a striker issue that Kai doesn't solve to get us over the line. Saying Arteta is not to blame is rubbish. You don't get unlimited opportunities like he has. We all do not want another Wenger.
Great post Jamil.

Any chance we can get our hands on Guler from Real Madrid, what little I’ve seen of him he looks seriously talented?
Yaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwnnnnnnnnnnnn n
We have to be the only club that celebrates U-19 games
If Setford was so special, why was Arteta and his goalkeeping coach running negotiations behind Edu's back to sign the Espanyol goalie?
My guess would be 'trying to improve the team'? Too easy.
Precisely the point I'm making that Setfod isn't all that, thanks for backing me up.
Not MY point. But you do like to twist and shout.
See the irony in the statement
You’re the one capitalizing your words, but I’m the one “shouting”?
You don’t seem to know half of what you’re saying 100% of the time.
Like I said, thanks for unwittingly backing me up,
Because Setford is 18 yrs old and not ready to play prem football but it always good day when Arsenal youth do well?
...and what if they don't do well?
At that level, they are still learning their trade, the so called results don't matter as much as it's been made to look here.
Cheer the fuck up!

This bodes well for Arsenal FC.
Can't wait to see the concept renderings.
Yes, I've been reading about the Kroenkes in LA and they are very different owners because most expect State/city govt pay for new stadiums.
No doubt you’ll be in the crowd 😂

'goals while starting' record in tact!
The Nwaneri stat makes me think of Trossard who seems to only do well as a substitute, the Belgian needs opposition to have tired legs to thrive.
Excellent post, you are always welcomed. Do not mind some of the comments. Some fans if we can call them that are delusional.
17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri has found the net in every single game he has started in this season:
⚽️⚽️ vs Bolton
⚽️ vs Preston
⚽️ vs Italy U19s
⚽️ vs Germany U19s
⚽️ vs Portugal U19s
⚽️ vs France U19s
⚽️ vs Lithuania U19s
⚽️ vs Bulgaria U19s
Baller. I'm quite surprised he's still with the u19
Me too!

Lol. Stop trolling.

haha next one will be shorter or i'll cut it in two!
Joyful read. Long time Arsenal supporter and still enjoying all the wins. If it turns into silverware, even better.

Top drawer stuff, mate! Great read.
thank you glad you enjoyed it!

News we may be looking at PSG's Luis Campos to fill Edu's position.
But it may be next Summer before that could occur.
If this is true, I am in favor
Great read Jamil
thank you David!
