Arteta needs to be sacked so he can rethink his style and improve in the future. If they keep blowing smoke under his ass (like Pedro and his band of cheerleaders do) he'll start believing he's truly unlucky and blaming the pgmol at every bad result as well.

I don't even think good players want to come and play under Spanish Pulis, he has turned Arsenal from a free flowing football team into set piece team.

You can't play from the effing back with deep block teams you have to beat them with long balls and fast wingers, Spanish Pulis is one tricky pony, he plays one way and has no idea when things are not working.

On top of everything is, he shouldn't be trusted to sign any players as he doesn't know what players he needs, all the players he has signed have flopped.

Looks like the players he has in his disposal have dropped the tools as they are fed up with his tactics, he has turned the whole team into defenders and funny thing us they can't defend.

Raptora with his Pierre like obsession of Odegaard and his blabbing about xg don't know which one is more bearable, we were bad, we look bad, have for the most part of the season and lost, that's it

Expand full comment

I agree with Raptora. Ode isn’t a top 5 AMF. He isn’t even a shade of Bruno / KDB. Those guys are powerful runners, with and without the ball. They have exceptional long range passing and power of shot. They can run and dictate a MF. See Bruno vs Pool. They take free kicks. Penalties. Nobody has to asterix their value with “he leads the press well”. Ode is too one footed. Always takes and extra touch which slows the game down. And just doesn’t have the power of foot to make consistent line breaking passes or rocket like shots.

Expand full comment

Pedro wrote an entire article about how Pool could potentially internally self destruct, whilst not accepting that we are several step ahead vs Pool in the process of internal combustion. Not having competent or any backups means a squad full of injuries. Not having a striker or ball carrying player outside Saka or someone to run down the channels, means our style of play getting found out. Maybe this style of play, inspired by Pep, is getting outdated. We already see what’s happened to City this season. Maybe another evolution in game play is upon us and Tets / Pep have just been slow / slower to recognise that

Expand full comment

Arteta style is nothing compared to pep's. Pep's style has won 5 league title in 6 years. Pep don't stockpile central defender and ask them to play tiki taka

tets is still messing around with inverted fullbacks and pep hasn't bothered with that nonsense in years. it's like the only thing he knows.

When are you not creating a lot, people are focused on missed chances. But everyone misses chances. The season halaand scored 50, he probably missed 100 more. Adebayor scored 30 in one season. He will struggle to score 10 in this team. Fabregas, rosicky, hleb, van persie and Walcott were all in one team creating tonnes of chances. But what we have nowadays is collection of central defenders and we give credit to the manager for making us unbeatable. The easiest thing to do in football is making yourself unbeatable because that is what most managers of average team do but teams that win titles hire managers who can assemble a team that can actually win matches which is create loads of chances and scoring some of them. Mourinho was an exception to the rule not a norm.

Regarding the CC semis today……

It was never the intention of management to take the cups seriously. Think about it. Our second keeper is cup tied. So the logic behind acquiring a cup tied keeper on the last day of transfers can only have been….

A: our first choice is Raya, however, other keepers are way too green, so let’s get a backup

B: Wait, we’re too late, can only get Neto

A: he’s cup tied though

B: yah but who TF takes those seriously

Similarly, let’s think about the logic behind selling ESR, loaning Fabio, and having Ethan as back up to Odergard. That conversation can only have played out as…

A: don’t think ESR and Fabio are competent

B: Okay, let’s plan an exit for them

A: Hey great work, sold ESR, loaned Fabio. Great. Okay, now what about the backup for Ode

B: I mean, we have Ethan

A: he’s very raw, we’ll bed him in slowly. And Ode never really gets injured does he. We’ll play Ethan in the cups (don’t give AF about them anyway) and again, Ode never really gets injured does he

What are our chances to progress in the league cup? Very slim because Arsenal must now aim to become just the third team in the 65-year history of this competition to make the final after losing the first leg of the semi at home.

The last 2 games at St. James Park we had a total of 2 shots on target one in each game.

The issue with Odegaard is:

- he isn't only not creating enough big chances

- he isn't only as pacey as a snail

- he isn't only bad at scoring bar that purple patch in 22/23

- he isn't only not taking on players

- he isn't only in love with slowing the game down

- he isn't only so happy to pass the ball sideways and backwards

- he isn't only staying away from any duels (434 ground duels won in his Arsenal career /5 seasons/, Saka had 404 in the last two seasons... That's actually an incredible stat btw)

- he isn't only next to useless in transition

- he isn't only next to useless when we're defending

- he isn't only absolutely unneeded for our corner kick supremacy

- he isn't only barely ever there when his team needs him the most and the game is going badly

- he isn't only barely ever capable of influencing a game on his own

He isn't everything above. He lacks in so, so many things. His shortcomings are incredible, gigantic, in almost every single department - bar "control" and recycling the ball.

Yet, fans are absolutely blinded by him.

So many even said he's our best player and voted for him winning back to back player of the season awards.

It's been a long time coming but it's about damn time to start taking about him for what he truly is and not the version of him so many have in their mind.

0.13 xA - Odegaard

0.13 xA - Martinelli

0.23 xA - Jorginho (31 minutes)

0.40 xA - Trossard

0.73 xA - Partey

0.77 xA - Rice

When Havertz misses, he's shite.

When Martinelli can't beat his man, he's shite.

When Jesus can't score, he's shite.

When Trossard loses the ball and can't finish, he's shite.

When Odegaard is consistently not creating big chances, not scoring, not beating players, staying away from any physical contact (no duels), not making runs on-the-ball or off-the-ball, not leading the team as a captain should, etc etc, he's literally passing sideways and backwards with no desire to find the correct forward pass, nothing is ever said. He's completely immune towards any criticism.

What is the point I'm missing? That we don't create enough from open play - aka Odegaard as the main creator in the team has not really been creating much?

Asked again about the ball, Arteta added: "It's just different, it's just very different to the Premier League ball, and you have to adapt to that because it flies different. When you touch it, the grip is very different as well, so you have to adapt to that.

Arsenal had no such issues in the previous rounds of the competition, scoring a combined total of 11 goals in their ties against Bolton, Preston and Crystal Palace while using the same ball.

You'll hear plenty of people moaning about Havertz, Martinelli, Trossard, Jesus... Literally our entire front line bar Saka.

Who's moaning about Odegaard? It's not allowed apparently. Why? He's been the shittiest of them all. You would hear Odegaard is Arsenal's best player though.

I literally can't believe what people see in him. How can you even look at him play and say he's our best player, then proceed to criticize everyone else bar him (some used to flame Saka a lot btw). It's a joke.

"Oh, Havertz can't even get in good positions to score"

"Oh, Martinelli can't beat his opponent"

"Oh, Trossard loses the ball so often and is physically weak"

"Oh, Jesus can't score clear chances"

Nothing about Odegaard. Nothing. He's immune. Why? How? No one will say a word? Ever?

The worst you'll hear about Odegaard (other than me and about 2 other dudes) is:

"Oh, Odegaard is having an off day". That's it. By a few people. Universally he's one of our best if not our single best player. Somehow.

Of course you'll say that while you systematically criticize all the other players in attack (literally today and in almost every game, all bar Saka). But nothing about Odegaard. "Oh, he had a bad game today" (not about today's game btw) is your biggest criticism. Bad game? He's been a passenger for months. That's all you can say about it?

You've said nothing about him today of course. Zero posts about Odegaard. Plenty of bile towards other players, nothing about Captain Fantastic, supposedly our leader. As per usual.

Never mind, I just checked, you said he's one of the 3 players at Arsenal that give us offensive firepower - Saka, Odegaard and maybe Nwaneri. Basically, the three players you love in attack. That's that I guess.

He is out of form. What do you want?

But he isn't the problem. He is part of the solution.

You just keep on shittimg on our playmaker. But even carriers can have bad form. Eze who you love, and I will even admit, I like too, is having a horrendous season.

Players have different qualities. Everyone admits Odegaard isn't a power and Pace merchant. He has other qualities that make us tick and win games.

Just because he is out of form doesn't change that.

He holds the record for most non penalty goals from a midfielder in one season. He is our creative spark alongside Saka.

Just say you have an obsession. That is why you are boring.

Big chances created 2024/25

1. Saka - 19 (in 16 games)

2. Palmer - 16

A comparison between Odegaard and Palmer big chances created in the PL:

Odegaard - 43 - 10938 mins

Palmer - 35 - 4860 mins

That's the comparison we should be looking at. A debutant, who no one could ever imagine what he'll have done in 18 months, creates about 2x more big chances than the Captain and supposed best player of Arsenal.

Not worth it to post Bruno Fernandes and KDB's stats. The difference is staggering.

I'll mention Ozil's 28 big chances created in 2015/16.

Expand full comment

A few points:

1) Palmer is better than Ode, so I’m not sure he’s the right player to be comparing with

2) if those are all their combined minutes then this is a very and intentionally misleading stat because we all know Ode was very meh for the entirety for his first 18 months in the PL. nobody has ever argued that fresh off the boat Ode was creating enough chances and it’s exactly what he was criticised for every week (too safe, likes to turn backwards rather than go for a harder through ball). A fairer comparison would be Ode over the last 30 months as only that period is when he’s been getting all the credit

But you already knew that

- He got all the plaudits for having a high scoring campaign playing as a second forward. His creativity was always a problem. 25 assists in 5 PL seasons (4 full and 2 halves) is a damning statistic for an attacking midfielder. Best creators in the league have been close to reach that in one season (20 Henry and KDB). We're talking about FIVE full seasons.

- I originally intended to count only Odegaard's 22/23, 23/24 and 24/25 in comparison to Palmer's Chelsea two seasons - debut + this one. That would make him look equally bad. So here it is:

Big chances created

Odegaard - 36 - 7279 mins

Palmer - 33 - 4380 mins

Still not a good comparison, is it.

Expand full comment

Thats because Arteta makes us create from wide not the middle

Odegaard finds the wide player running behind who then cuts back

Dont you watch us?

Expand full comment

I would honestly keep everything we have (including a Partey extension and replacing who leaves in defense),

If it means we bring a top LW, a top CF and a ball carrying CM that can be good in the final third, can interchange with Merino (someone like Baleba). We missed the boat on Fofana last summer.

We are missing these three things and that has been a problem all year for us.

You still don’t get it, do you? A manager that is pragmatic will always break attacking players!!!

I keep laughing at you guys saying, buy this player, and that player…it won’t work!!

Those players will come with a spark and soon fade out! It’s not because of them! It’s the manager!!!

Remember what Klopp said about Martinelli 2-3years ago? Do you think martinelli would be the player he has become today, under klopp’s watch? Trossard?

You still think it’s the players?

Expand full comment

Martinelli is a head down pace merchant he would have been sold by klopp

It is the players. They can't beat men. The only reason they weren't this exposed was because Saka and Odegaard were creating everything on the right for them.

Martinelli has been poor for a year. part of it is the lack of support at LCM. but he even telegraphs how he takes on players now and they read him like a book.

Jesus has never looked like the player he was before those injuries. Trossard's ability was ghosting in that box to finish but he was always mid in general play.

Havertz has massively improved from his stint at Chelsea and it is still not enough.

Arteta has blind spots like the lack of ball carrying creative CM at LCM. But these forwards aren't enough. Saka being out has exposed what they are lacking.

Who buys these players that can't "beat men

Too many players are depreciating under this manager

I think he's done as much as he can. He's maxed out.

Expand full comment

He didn't buy Martinelli. Trossard was a stop gap signed for him when he wanted an explosive winger. Jesus was signed when we were trying to make top 4 and fell off after his injuries. Havertz is completely on him.

"Too many players are depreciating under this manager"

Our squad has improved over the last 2 years. So has it's valuation. If you want him out, just say so. But we haven't invested enough in forward areas. and we need to. 3 forwards in 5 years isn't enough when you are going from top 4 contenders to title winners.

Expand full comment

You can't trust this manager with money to buy players. Since Xhaka left he has been given money has he replaced him? NO.
