The players have been overburdened with complete disregard for their fitness physical and mental.
Rodri told Pep he was tired and needed a break hours before he did his ACL running in a straight line.
But if I had to put money on what manager might take the biggest hit to the injury curse it probably would’ve been one saying 70 matches a season should be a norm.
I said years ago that the PL moving to 8+ mins of injury time on the regular and all these extra internationals would only be manageable long term with better rotation
As far as I can see, managers haven’t accommodated for the added load by cutting it elsewhere and have simply hoped that their best players can survive the extra work.
That was always obviously a fool’s way of looking at it and we’re seeing the fruits of that ignorance now.
The ONLY way for players to avoid semi frequent injuries like this is more frequent rotation.
That means being brave enough to understand that sometimes even in big games against tough teams when you’re desperate for points, you still have to be willing to drop or sub early a couple of your best players semi frequently.
Managers haven’t got the memo yet and are all shocked that their players can’t cope with the load.

Fair point Tom.But will he learn this seasons lessons which are beyond doubt now?
