The Athletic is reporting that we are seriously considering putting Jesus on the market this summer, which makes sense
When you remove the fact that he's named 'Jesus' and came from city, his production is pretty poor and he isn't even improving the players around him. That said, It's going to be hard to move him on because he's on big wages and may need knee surgery this summer
The Arteta ruthless fang needs to be used this summer
Always insisted that I would sell both Eddie and Jesus. We can do better.
Had to laugh at Ian Wright talking about Ben White. When we signed him the negativity fans were piling in claiming we massively overpaid. Looks another bargain now. I love his directness & the fact you don't f**k around with Ben, as the dinosaur England coaches found out..!
Ian Wright: "Ben White’s s***housery was beautiful. He’s the thinking man’s s***house, that’s the best way I can put it. The way Vicario got upset was f*****g brilliant, he went straight to 100 and all he did was try to undo his gloves," he told the Wrighy's House podcast. He continued, "Ben White is a thinking man’s s***house. There are three games left now so everyone should know Ben White is going to go on the opposition goalkeeper and f**k around with him."
Using the app is the far better experience than via your mobile browser.
The comments are more legible as they are more spaced out to start with. This makes reading comments a much more pleasant experience.
The comment box is at the bottom of the app as well, just like OG LeGrove. Posts can still be ordered chronologically or by newest first.
And, FYI, using a password to log in is not working properly for me but the system really seems to be that you log in via the email that is sent to your inbox. Weird but that is how it is.
Once logged in, as long as you don't close the app, one is still logged in (not sure what happens when app is closed; i guess that you get logged out automatically).
Finally, the comments section refreshes itself automatically with any new posts.
I think it is just a case of getting used to the new format. 10+ years of OG LeGrove has made it a bit of a shock change, for mebat least.
Yes, it is just culture shock. We used to old skool basic blog and now new site with all the bells and whistles, it's a bit much. I also think there are many middle aged men commenting here and we not most tech savvy, no one likes change.
I was finally able to locate settings and turned a bunch of options off and now this is just like old le grove accept we can now respond directly to other people comments. I don't use app at all, just saved legrove url in my bookmarks.
Incomings will likely need to be based on outgoings, we can’t just stockpile surplus players.
Depends what type of market there is for our players, think we’d certainly be open to letting Jesus, Partey, Smith Rowe, Nelson, Eddie, Sambi, Tavares, Tierney, Ramsdale all go..
But that’ll be dependent on suitors.
Maybe Zinchenko, Tomiyasu as well.
We’re unlikely to find suitors for all those players, Tierney is injured again, only played 1,200 minutes in Spain.
Sambi has done ok, but he’s been injured with only 1,200 minutes for Luton.
Tavares has been injured, played less than 700 minutes at Forest, both coming into last year of contract.
There’s apparently a market for Eddie + Biereth, fairly confident we’ll get some money in for those 2.
Smith Rowe has played less than 700 minutes across the last 2 seasons, which kind of tells its own story… So it’s whether anyone would gamble on a permanent transfer.
He’s 24 this summer, he needs to leave for regular football, and we need to sell him before we trash his value any further.
Any argument to keep him at this stage is purely emotional, and not based on logic or rational thinking.
I’m coming around to Substack in general, and also to the app. Definitely helps that more people have come over and makes it seem more like home.
I found one minor tweak that is a massive improvement and fixes one of my major grievances > in the app settings - scroll down to set default tab to inbox = no more political / social media wannabe influencer bullshit in your face every time you open it up. Just straight to a list of LeG posts.
My remaining complaints are minor quality of life downgrades such as losing the ability to post images and no longer having the joy of a downvote pile-on when one of the degenerates on here offers up their shit take.
Thanks for that. Political bores & social influencer braggers are my worst nightmare. So up themselves it's frightening! That tweaks a dream, thank you.
The fact we are seriously discussing the merits of this kind of profile - completely unproven striker (gamble), in the region of 60m (real money cost), where we won’t know won’t know the result for 2-3 years (opportunity cost) - says a lot about perspective and the hysterical negative reaction to the Havertz signing.
I think it’s smart for us to keep both. We should be looking to build a squad that can challenge for 4 trophies and not be so quick to lose numbers. There’s only so much we can do in one transfer window.
Thinking in terms of overall squad and less of an individual basis of player out-player in, but still.
For that deep CM role this season we had 3 squad places occupied.
Jorginho keeps his place and offers exactly what he did this season. Highly valuable squad player who did a great job for us this season. Available, reliable.
Partey I think was intended to play a major role this season. Based on the interviews Rice gave on joining Arteta always wanted Rice to be more of a box-to-box player for us rather than just sitting deep and screening. Partey was missing for us and we shouldn’t count on him being available next season, so Partey’s role needs replacing, but…
Elneny is going. This season he basically just occupied a spot in the squad. With him leaving we basically have an extra place being vacated. So let Partey take his place, then we just need to add one midfielder - much easier and less risky than securing two transfers and integrating more than one player.
Which means we need to replace what we needed from Partey, even though we should keep him.
So we get in a new midfielder with the caveat that they have to be good enough to be a starter job-sharing with Jorginho over the course of a season where we expect nothing from Partey (but keep him as a wildcard and only play him if and when available e.g. for more challenging CL and PL games).
Probably this means someone like Zubimendi is a target, and that transfer starts making a lot of sense.
If we can get appreciable funds for him, I believe he should be sold this upcoming window, period. Availability is the best ability. I am grateful for his service to the club, and he is a model professional. Time for ruthlessness and very very faint sentimentality.
Re Jorgi signing a new contract, this is great news.
A) he is definitely not carrying any Chelski baggage, which is so nice to see (just like King Kai).
B) there is no better player than him to share his experience with the younger players.
This is exactly the type of well decorated player we need to help the younger players navigate through difficult games like the CL games we will get once progressing through the later stages of the CL tournament.
Fantastic to see that after the rubbish Chelski dross we picked up from these wankers (Willian, Cech and Luiz) we now have proven winners in King Kai and Jorgi.
I am not sure why everyone is focusing on the summer TW when we still have 3 games to go for it. Let's worry about this when we know where we finish.
I spoke to some of my work colleagues and most were unanimous that they did not want to see Cheaty win the trophy.
One of them was a Spud supporter who was adamant that he did not want to see Cheaty win it again. ( He was still gutted about the loss and another colleague didn't want to speak to me (lol!!!).
I wonder how widespread this feeling is amongst other supporters that they are fed up of seeing Cheaty lift the EPL trophy.
I mentioned to my Spud colleague that I counted on them to win against Cheaty. He was reluctant to acknowledge this knowing what their own target is (CL).
As absurd as this may seem, our arch rivals are our only hope for the win this season.
They are Cheaty's kryptonite and, as mad as it may seem, we will have to "support" them (with very gritted teeth) when they do clash in a couple of weeks time.
Rodri out for the season!
Zirkzee - very good
Ferguson - Gyokeres would be a better option
Rashford - No thank you, without strong father figures growing up, thats the consequences.
Jesus - should move to serie A
Why are words appearing seconds after typing? Is the MI6 tracking me?
New post!

Gotta love Benjamin...!!

Thanks for that Le Groove -- very helpful 👍

Happy that Jorge has signed but does it spell the end for TP?
Jorginho has not signed, yet.
I think it’s smart for us to keep both. We should be looking to build a squad that can challenge for 4 trophies and not be so quick to lose numbers. There’s only so much we can do in one transfer window.

After TP in last 2 games I still sort of hope we keep him one more year. I know availability is key but the guy is just so good.
If we can get appreciable funds for him, I believe he should be sold this upcoming window, period. Availability is the best ability. I am grateful for his service to the club, and he is a model professional. Time for ruthlessness and very very faint sentimentality.
I actually say keep him.
He was imperious in our game vs the shite down the lane and kept control of our midfield.
For me he should be our Ace up our sleeve in all our big games. He'll be the playmaker in our big CL/ PL games.
For the other games, just bench him.
Yes, he is injury prone. But he is fucking irreplaceable when fit.
Keep him and get an understudy player that can replace him in the long term, if we can find such a player.
We've seen that we can play without him, but when he is in the team, he adds an extra dimension.

Why is Trossards dad refereeing RM v BM?
Soft Penalty on Musiala but Bayern have turned the gear.
