Our GD is 1. Are you completely daft?

Rich, I like this season shirt but my only gripe is that it was designed with gold as if we had won the previous season when we didn't. It's a shame that we didn't win this season either as the color coding could have still made sense had we won.

I think next season kit is OK and very simple in its design but I do find it odd that the club crest is not on it.

But... to think of it, the cannon does emulate the old Arsenal shirts when we just had the cannon and nothing else on them.

So I get what they tried to do here.

Arsenal’s 2024/25 home kit is out, I prefer it to this seasons.

The goalkeeper top is an absolute banger though.

All this talk in the media about scrapping var I find kinda odd, because whilst I’m not against scrapping it, I think people have forgotten how ruinously bad refs were before we had it as well

VAR is being used horrifically and has just as many errors as before, so the complaints are all correct, but it’s also really really easy to improve so I don’t know why that’s not on the table. For example if people (like me) can’t stand the 5 mins wasted watching 200 hyper slow replays, add a 30 second limit to the review because if a mistake was clear and obvious, 30 seconds will be enough 95% of the time. Actually discipline and train refs who keep making var mistakes etc. frankly it’s really easy to fix var

I have a theory that PGMOL are intentionally running var into the ground so that it gets banned. Then refs are given free abandon again to influence games with the old excuse of ‘I didn’t see it clearly in real time’ when they make a mistake. It also spares them the weekly shame of demonstrating their incompetence over and over again by spending 5 mins reviewing incidents which 80% of your average joes could review and agree on a decision for within 30 seconds.

Var has brought nothing good to refs except shine a spotlight on how bad they are and made their poor decisions and attempts to influence games more blatant than ever. They would love nothing more than to revert to the old days when their ‘mistakes’ can happen without half the scrutiny

Nigel

Quit embarrassing yourself. Please. You don't know anything about football.

I didn't say Bruno was top 3. I said mention 3 players better, then another 3 that wouldn't need acclimatisation to our team and you couldn't. I just wanted you to see his class, Dumbo.

And yes, Haverts was a shit player before we signed him. Look how his level was raised (at 9) because he joined a better team with stable players. Jury still out anyways.

Haverts at Cheslea didn't play as good as a Bruno at Newcastle. I wonder what you thought about Haverts at Cheslea.

Szobo would kill at Arsenal by the way. Would have been a better investment at left 8 than Kai, who was signed as left 8, failed there and is now playing at 9 for us.

Nigel, you don't know anything about football. You are just a stupid man who feels he has to hate every player not wearing the colours of Arsenal as if it somehow made you a better fan.

Nigel, if you weren't stupid you won't be comparing Odegaard who's an attacking midfielder with Bruno who is a deep CM. Again, you wouldn't be talking about 34 year old Jogi who it's clear to everyone is finished and is a back up player. Granted Rice is better than Bruno but we don't have 3 Rices. Only 1. Everybody agrees that we can't depend on Partey for next season too. There's a gaping hole in our midfielder for a new player since Arteta won't play ESR there. If you weren't stupid and always looking for who's post to thrash, you would have seen that. Miss me with the contest of best Arsenal internet supporter, please. You are alone in that.

I have asked you again, name 3 players better than Bruno we should target, then name another 3 that don't need to acclimatise to the league. It's not too difficult to mention, so I'm waiting. Or do you think we don't need to buy any midfielders going into next season?

What did you think of Haverts at Chelsea? Dumbo. I'm waiting for your reply.

Richard Keys for all his animosity against Arteta has questioned Citys achievements and has called for a ruling on citys 115 counts of financial misdemeanors asap. Kudos to him finally someone who has a platform says it out in open. The rest of the so called pundits couldn't dare to open their mouths. Disgrace

AFTVs Turkish with exactly what I feel right now. Gutted with that Tottenham game because I didn't expect anything before the game and the half time nil nil sucked me in. And I also feel next season is our year. I am proud but we do need to get it over the line next season. We must.

id rather have Guimares than Zubimendi, who looks very slight and might lack the power we need.

Losing TP requires someone who can bring the power and physical presence

Chelsea back in the Europa league. To be honest, they are the closest team to get back to fighting at the top of the table with some tweaks. They have some average players that have been signed for ridiculous money too and they need to move them on. I reckon they might make top 4 next season along with Pool.

Is there a points deduction in the post for Chelsea?..

They self reported some financial transactions from the Abramovich era.

They’ve taken time to put in a foundation, Caicedo + Gallagher are the cornerstones of that team.

Hopefully they have the foundations ripped out before they get the project off the ground, and then have to rebuild from scratch again.

They’re apparently close to Messinho, but he won’t be able to join until summer 2025.

No idea about the deductions. But they are as guilty as City for me. They just didn't have Pep.

I do agree they will be a problem in the next few seasons. But they still have a lot to do. And their spending is capped from this summer onwards because of their previous deals. They are already looking for experienced players. They are rumored to target Fulhams Tosin Adarabioyo who would come in on a free. So what they can do in the market is limited.

That was silly and fun. Newcastlle 57 points +21. Manure 57 points -2. The Tale of Two Cities.

If it stays like this, only Arsenal + City in the top half will have won away at United this season.

Just seen a stat from Whoscored:

United have never lost a PL game at Old Trafford when leading at half time.

That’s some record.. Newcastle certainly had enough chances to test that tonight.

It would be a backwards step to ‘uninstall’ VAR. It’s easy to forget how many bad decisions it corrects. We’d be going back to the wild west if refereeing if it was scrapped.

It needs at least a couple of things to help it out. More competent people operating it, and some of the rules simplified to make decision making easier and more efficient.

I do get the grief it causes though. And most football purists would likely agree disallowing offside goals by the length of a fingernail is somewhat brutal. Offside is offside? Well give the advantage back to the attacker, as they began to do prior to VAR. Implement ‘Wenger’s idea where the attacking player is offside in the case of clear daylight between the part of his body furthest back and the last defender. Or something like that!

I need to remind everyone that we lost half a season to "revitalising" and "developing" Haverts. If we had bought an assured left 8 or played Rice there from the start while buying an assured striker we would have had a better first half of the season and probably won the league.

Buying project players this summer instead players that will immediately improve the first XI will be very unserious from Arteta and Edu.

I wanted Caicedo over Rice but only as an understudy to Partey. Now we have Rice and he's doing well and Partey is still here and Rice is destined to take that No 6, there's no point for Caicedo

Expand full comment

Partey is finished, he’s clearly in physical decline.

Banking on Partey staying fit for a 5th season as a key component in our team, would be a McError sandwich.

He might stay if we can’t shift him, but Arsenal should 100% invest in a quality midfielder this summer regardless.

We should have pivoted away from Partey last summer..

I see no logical argument for extending Partey, compare his minutes with other top midfielders between the ages of 27-31, and the warning signs were there.

Nobody wanted to buy Partey last year Rich so we had no choice but to keep him

I wouldn't extend his contract. If we do have money, I would replace him. But if we don't and he is more valuable to us as a backup for the last year of his contract, may be there is a case for keeping him. But if we get any decent offers, time to sell. The extension part is an absolute no no. He will be an old guy with a huge contract with no resale value. We already have Jorginho as a squad filler.

agreed here, no to TP. he played less than 10 games this season.

I'm not really arguing for Partey to be mainstay next season. But He will surely contribute once he stays fit. He's the best in the world in his position.

With that in mind, buying Bruno G will make us feel the absence of Partey less should he get injured. He can easily slot in at 6 or 8 and is ready to go. Caicedo, while he has great potentials, would need to rebuild his confidence and "bed in". Beginning of this season would have been perfect for him to come to Arsenal, next season, not so much. He's be a time waster signing now.
