Arsenal have recruited two Portuguese players in Cedric and Vieira. Both were a waste a space in our squad. Cedric is out on a free this summer but Vieira will be difficult to shift as Sid points out.
We will buy only one midfielder this summer, but there are potentially four players leaving in Partey,
Elneny, Smith-Rowe, Vieira.
Arsenal will need at least replacements in MF. So I would hope that Nanweri will be promoted to first team squad.
Arsenal scouts have apparently been at Sporting + Benfica games.
Watching Joao Neves, Antonio Silva, Diomande, and Gyokeres.
No idea on any of those players, but it wouldn’t surprise me if we went shopping in Portugal.
I’d prefer a more experienced option in midfield though, as I’d be surprised if a 19yr old midfielder was equipped to come into our starting 11 straight off the bat, In a team expected to pump 90 points.
I agree with you, but it depends on transfer fee Fulham will offer.
One surprise to me was that Smith-Rowe is apparently the lowest earner in our first team squad apart from Hein. If that is true then it should not be difficult to get a decent transfer fee.
Personally I would prefer to offload Vieira if given the choice.
I like Vieira + Smith Rowe, both talented players.
But they don’t get anywhere near enough minutes, it’s been suggested that Vieira hasn’t been good in training, and Smith Rowe’s professionalism isn’t great..
If we’re reluctant to use either, then sell both..
Promote Nwaneri, and if we could get Gallagher for a reasonable fee from Chelsea to cover both 8 positions..
That would be ideal… But the player were apparently looking at us Joao Neves from Benfica.
No idea about him… Does anyone know if he’s a No6 or a No8?.. Or can he play both?..
I’d prefer PL experience.. The other player we’ve been linked with is Gibbs-White.
But I’ve said before that Gallagher is my dirty little secret.. Industrious + aggressive, at a good age and level of experience.
He’s my style of player, and if we could get him for £30 - £35 million as a player to cover both 8 positions.. That would represent good value.
Habesha knows about him. Mentions him all the time as his alternative to Bruno G. I like his name, don't really know his game but the analysis on him is positive. He has a small frame but strong physically and a big RC (100m).
Downsides for me is price, age and readiness to hit the league running. We need ready players. 3 years of top top performances off the bat from Bruno G (which woul result in a title or 2) will be 100m better spent, for me.
Next season will be the peak of our hunger and desire to win the EPL. Our team would do insane things and some players could produce special moments and otherworldly numbers. We have to make sure that all the stars align from the off. It could be massive (positively or negatively) for us, what happens next season.
Just posted elsewhere that Sesko is far from a done deal and Chelsea, according to Ben Jacob’s are also is for him and reading between the lines they may well be more advanced in the discussions
On Bakayoko, I watch Dutch league on ESPN. I can say he's fast, not rapid. He can take on a player when he has space and bring the chaos factor but he's not exactly good nor comfortable in tight spaces nor 1v1 dribbles. For 50m I think we can do better. But if Baka comes, we'd have to be a whole lot patient. Still many things to learn and add to his game.
I'm saying it now. If we get league ready players and hit the ground running (no mess ups or complicated new styles) City won't see our back. This last 2 seasons they haven't been vintage at all and I assume they will continue their decline. Depending on how we start and how Liverpool kicks on under Slot, City may just finish 3rd.
Signings are always a factor. But I believe we have been better than city for the past 2 seasons. We just had in-club factors that went against us. Add that to the increasing motivation issues they'd have next season---some of their key players may be bored already of repeating the same feat every year.
Honestly, I think the last 2 seasons have been decided by us, it will continue in that same pattern next season, irrespective of who city sign.
Fofana 25n from Monaco as a bargain partey replacement
I don’t know if all these guys are up to it but if they are that’s 3 players in the most important positions we need to strengthen for only 120m. Then only a Rambo replacement needed. That’s a lot of good business rather than blowing 80-100m a piece on individual players IF these guys are all up to scratch
Pierre still missing? Raptora taken up the anti Ødegaard cause?
Sid and the clowns take this opportunity to welcome you back
Sid is not a clown in my book.
He is just a troll, that is all.
Another waste of space.

I want Neves.
Depends on price and need to look deeper into passing stats. He was born to be an Arteta player.
Vieira, with 3 yrs left on his contract, should be sent out for a future transfer nurturing loan!
Theres No EPL team that will sign Vieira.
I agree - the sale potential is with ESR. It’s not choosing who to sell which some players on here seem to think
Vieira does need a loan to build up his value either for us or for resale. That would have to be on a slower league

Hopefully plenty of spanish and Italian ones?

The YouTube vids make Neves look amazing- only 19!
It's what he does well... all the hard work, his physicality even though he's not big. But I hear he has an enormous release clause?
Telegraph reporting that Fulham have made Smith Rowe a priority signing, and want to get the deal over the line early.
I see no logical argument for keeping him, only irrational, emotion based arguments.
Was our best player between Dec 2020 - Dec 2021… But that was. 2.5 years ago now.
He’s not getting minutes on the left, Martinelli, Trossard, Nelson have all been preferred there.
He’s not ousting our captain, however much Pierre + Raptora masterbate ferociously to the thought of it…
And we’ve had plenty of opportunity to give him a run at left 8… I’d have been open to seeing that.
But he’s played less than 700 minutes across the last 2 seasons, and hardly played in the second half of 2021/22.
We need to sell him before we trash his value any further…
Hopefully other clubs enter the picture, we can push the price up, and wrap this sale up quickly.
Nwaneri is only 17… But we potentially have an internal replacement lined up if he’s considered ready to compete in the first team.
I’d like to see ESR get one last chance to make it at arsenal. Not based on emotion but the potential upside is huge with such talent
He’s on low wages and he’s already integrated
It would cost us north of £35m to even begin to replace his level
Agree that it is time to sell ESR - its in both parties’ interests.
Amadou Onana top speed 36.65 kp/h
Statty Sid with his stopwatch!

Classic part of negotiations, ensure that there is a rumour more than one club keen on a player to ripen the deal for the selling club.
What Arsenal the rumour or Chelsea the rumour ?
Take your pick!
Sancho and Bellingham, both polished their careers in Germany.
Per Mertesacker is polishing the Arsenal gems the German way.

Not so much mystic leaves more crystal ball. I'd wait to see who City invest in before checking the tea leaves!

Dortmund lost the game the moment Emre Can was subbed.
I would prefer a PL proven, midfielder. We only have Rice and Ode that can play 2 games a week, assuming Havertz is CF.
It would be risky relying on a midfielder from ligue 1 or la liga to start twice a week.
A few interesting links today
Sesko 45m
Bakayoko 50m from psv as a saka competitor

The club Pedro said would be 4th in the Premier League has just won its 15th Champions League trophy.
I don't know about fourth... but behind Man City, yes.
