Tomorrow is a big game. I have a feeling Newcastle will hold Liverpool to a draw. We need to take advantage.
Now we have also been drawn against Man United in the FA cup, the game becomes doubly important so that we can have the psychological edge against them in that game.
I have a theory about why Man City managed to convince Pep to sign a contract extension. If the outcome of the court case for the 115 charges results in Man City being relegated then what top top manager out there is going to be up for taking over a club in maximum crisis. An aging squad. Players thinking they’re too good to be playing in a lower league, looking to jump ship. If that were to happen then Pep might be the safest pair of hands they could depend on to get them back into the premier league and then they would look for his successor once the dust has settled.
But what's in it for Pep? Why would Spaniard want to manage a team that he going to massively fail with because Pep has zero exeprience managing anyone other than world class athletes.
Fabio Vieira is on a 2 goals in 2 games run. He'll start banging them in from now on, just needs to remain injury free.
Already showing fantastic relationship with Samu Omorodion. I would have been happy if he was the CF we targeted last summer but I guess he needed to marinate a little bit more before he makes the big step.
I love Kai as a CF, top CF but also a top player in more than one position. When we want, he could be the Bergkamp to Omorodion. Would give us a lot of options in attack.
So to all the Arteta haters on here, If we come 2nd in the PL and say lose in the CL final, would you sack Arteta? And if so, who would you replace him with? Just curious.
They don’t have one Peter.Because they know it’s a fantasy.I suspect they don’t really want one anyway. Its the warm feeling of “ the glass half empty” & wallowing in misery that’s the buzz.Dying to be proved right.Except,if that happens it means Arsenal has failed.Masochism at its finest.lol😂
I will Post the AKB guideline once again. These are Pedro words during Wenger years. Read it and substitute Arsene with Arteta and you will be laughing. How Pedro has become the very people he wrote about.
****** AKB Guide***** by Pedro himslef
There has been a lot of talk about the “Arsene Knows Brigade” in recent weeks. I#ve had many e-mails asking me to point out how you can tell early on if your loved one might have been struck down with the disease.
Here is the list of the indicators:
1.Inability to think for themselves. They can no longer sit down the pub with their footballing friends and enter into a reasoned conversation. His/Her friends will be bored of their debating tactics “Arsene Knows” grows tiresome after 3 years.
2.Positive support for anything Arsene: Yes, when your loved one sounds like a propaganda machine for Arsenal.com, you know you’re in trouble. When you hear things like, “Trust in Arsene” or “I am an ardent support of anything Arsene” you know that your loved one may think he/she is on the payroll at Arsenal. The sad thing is, they are not.
3.Acceptance of second best: If you get your meal at a nice restaurant and it looks good, but it is cold you’ll find an AKB member won’t mind. They accept anything as long as it looks good and the restaurateurs are relatively inexperienced. You will find they even accept a price increase after the disappointment, as long as they are promised it will be better next year.
4.Hours spent writing hate on blog sites: If your loved one gets so worked up by Arsene criticism that they start writing hate on fan sites that disagree with their mantra, you know they ‘ve been struck down big time. But hey, don’t worry, they would never have the guts to be that big time in real life. So don’t worry about the “Blog Tourettes” rearing its ugly head in public it’s a bedroom thing. Anonymity is a must for any budding AKB member.
5.Everything positive is down to Arsene. You’ll be led to believe it’s ‘Arsene united down at the Emirates. Arsene built the stadium according to AKBs, but he is not responsible for the corporate aspect of the Emirates. He is in no way responsible for the fact that ticket prices are now out of reach for many working class fans. Arsene doesn’ spend the money that is available to him, yet AKBs will blame the board for not funding him. Mr Wenger is apparently responsible for bringing Arsenal out of mid table obscurity well, by my reckoning, we finished 5th in Rioch’s last full season and in the last 16 years, we’ve only finished out of the top 5 twice? This list could go on forever, but the pattern is always the same. Wenger is a demi-god in the AKB’s eyes, he does no wrong and if he does it’s just Wenger testing you as a fan.
So there you have it, if your loved one has any of the above symptoms be very careful, they can be quite dangerous if you broach the subject with them you wouldn’t want to be called a spud would you?
"Riccardo Calafiori has been named in the Serie A Team of the Year at the Gran Gala del Calcio - Italy's version of our PFA Awards ... And that breakout year certainly caught the attention of his fellow professionals, who voted him into the annual dream team from the country's top division."
There’s simply no pleasing a collection of Miserables B’ stards on here is there? And right on cue they all arrive at once in their collective misery.Like flies to shit.
I think we know what's worse now..another comment thread gone to doom. This is why I rarely bother to comment anymore .. except during a game . You can't have a rational discussion about the team or the problems without it devolving into Arteta is shit, where is my trophy.
At least they come from an emotional place and in the moment.. some of these people have spent an enormous amount of time coming up with their manifestos and posting them here. And most of them are long and painful reads and self righteous as hell. There was one on previous post Aasim I think it was, went on forever and I still don't know what his point was. Something about we are fucked, I guess?
Let’s not pretend that there aren’t yearly circular conversations about the declining importance of the FA cup.
Accrington facing Liverpool and Morecambe facing Chelsea at the 3rd level is good seeding I’m bemoaning the fact that United should never face Arsenal in the 3rd round because the competition would already be devalued so early.
They already exempt big clubs from the 1st round and second rounds respectively. They try to seed, they just use archaic ways to do it .
Also that model of “big day out” for small teams is a dated model because
TV is where the money is now, not on gate takings.
I find myself laughing when they start the yearly musings about how to make the FA cup more relevant by assigning a champions league place.
The answer is obvious; stop setting up the big money makers and the major global fan draw to knock each other out super early to create the artificial romance of some small sized club making a run.
They have to change their seeding model to reflect the new market which is global and more tv based.
Dissenter there is already a seeding protocol in place. Accrington and Morecambe have already played in rounds that the big boys have exemption
What you fail to grasp it seems is that the FA Cup is still the greatest cup competition possibly in club football that is open to clubs in a single national association.
Clubs like Morecombe, like Accrington will generate enough income in this years competition to pay several players total annual wage that on top of giving a great day out to their supporters who don’t have the glory of competing in the top echelons of football but who in the main are far more loyal than many Premier clubs supporters.
Football in England is about the 500+ clubs affiliated and not just the 20 in the PL
You missed my point, which was plainly stated above
I don't have a problem with Morecambe playing a big club away and having a big pay day. I called it good seeding in the post you responded to.
My grouse is not keeping major clubs like United and city apart in the 3rd stage- they have won almost 20% of al the FA cups combined and can bring big TV money to the table if they faced each other later in the competition. It's about knocking off major clubs so early because of the lack of seeding.
They would be helping football at the grassroots more if they seeded because the TV money pot would get so much bigger.
My point is and you clearly missed it that the multitude of lower and non league clubs that compete get a significant chunk of their total annual income from the FA pool which on top of prize money also enables access to grants for things such as stadium improvements .
Add to that the fact that the current government restrictions are that the FA cup has to be shown on free to view. The TV pot wouldn’t be that much higher as the only two real bidders for the TV rights are the BBC &ITV
We have had more posts on why Liverpool is not good and City is terrible than we have had about why it is our league to win this season.
City are having a terrible season by their standards but we haven't capitalised. City's worst season under pep and 1 point behind us.
Pep is winless in 7 games and it is seen as a massive disaster. Arteta has no trophy in 5 years or in over 200 games but we should worship him and build him a statue. What a shame.
Arteta has just signed a new deal, so regardless how this season pans out he’s not going anywhere.
And I’m completely fine with it, but I do find it interesting that posters ganging up on the trophy merchants like yourself never commit to answering how many seasons he should be allowed to stay without winning one.
I would think the answer why, is fairly obvious because it's a fluid situation and based on results that have not happened yet. Arteta by any stretch of the imagination has not achieved the threshold of sacking and to even be talking about it right now is ridiculous. Hence why people gang up on the perfectionists.
Also, yes, perfectionists, as in any loss is unacceptable and even if we do win... they won't enjoy it..it won't be stylish enough and even if we did win the Premier League they would now come back on and pretend to enjoy it for about 10 secs but now we need to win it again. It's tedious as hell to be honest. What's the point of watching a team if all you ever do is wait for the trophy match to be happy.
I think that shouldn't be the case. Chelsea sacked Poch 1 season after getting him. They made a decision. It is sad we are not ruthless enough as a club.
Many AKB are specialist in failure, asking for trophies exposes them. This team should have won more than 1 trophy. I just hope we don't waste this group of players. Things wouldn't always be good
Yes. That will be 5 years of failure. Aren't you tired of being "a nearly team". We have not won a silverware since May 2020. How is this acceptable for us as a club. You guys make it seem we are asking for much.
Pep with this Arsenal team over the last 5 years wins you something. We have zero trophies
And how many so called ruthless teams have won the PL in the last 10 years? The idea that the Chelsea or United model of sacking their manager every 10 secs is the way to go is also ridiculous.
No I don't want to be Chelsea or Pool. Maybe you do? The other Leagues are irrelevant as it's a different situation. I don't want to be Leicester either. I think maybe your supporting the wrong team to be honest with you. Your never going to be happy.
No i am supporting this club 22 years now. I am not happy going trophyless in 5 years. That isn't commendable. In the last 10 years we have less trophies than City, Liverpool, Chelsea, United. We have not won a league in more than 20 years yet City have 4 in last 5 IMAGINE
Arteta is the best young manager in world football.
But but but...
You're unreasonable to expect a trophy from him (after 5 years).
Those managers winning trophies are just luckier than Arteta, not better. And the refs favour those managers than Arteta.
And those managers don't face injury problems like Arteta!
Do you know how much Arteta has revolutionised Arsenal despite all these big obstacles? Do you see the absolutely brilliant football we play?
Do you know we were conceding 30 shots in every game we played under Emery?
Again, if you expect Arsenal to win a trophy, you're not a true Arsenal fan. You're a City fan.
If we get 2nd in the PL and lose in the CL final, be joyful. Just enjoy the journey.

If you guys haven't seen it, watch inside training that was released an hour ago on Arsenal's YouTube channel.
Nwaneri just scored a curling screamer with his weak right foot. What can't this kid do. The sky is the limit for the kid.
You're getting excited about goals scored in training? Are you 12?
yeah I am.
So Marc Guehi is expected to wear his rainbow captaincy armband but can't write "I love Jesus"on it?
What if he had written "God save the King" or "support our troops" or "stop knife violence?
Don't they understand that the rainbow band itself isn't neutral to start with?
What's the formal warning for?
Any messages are not allowed.
Does that apply to the rainbow as well?
Of course not. It might seem contradictory but there you go.
Rules are fairly explicit - no religious messages on any part of the kit/boots. It’s really no big deal.
Tomorrow is a big game. I have a feeling Newcastle will hold Liverpool to a draw. We need to take advantage.
Now we have also been drawn against Man United in the FA cup, the game becomes doubly important so that we can have the psychological edge against them in that game.
We need to go on a long, winning run which means every game to a great extent, is 'must win'.
What Liverpool do is, for the most part, beyond our control.
I wonder whether Pep is now regretting signing up for a couple more years!
He's definitely regretting it.
He looks like a beaten man
I am loving the photos of Pep after the match where it looks like he been in a fight with his cat.
I have a theory about why Man City managed to convince Pep to sign a contract extension. exactly
Arne Slot on Mo Salah saying that Sunday could have been his last Anfield game vs Man City.
“Maybe Mo knows more about the 115 charges, so expects them not to be there next season… it was a joke!”.
“I repeat, a joke”.

Slot should be more humble. He just joined the league. Behave.
If Arteta had said this, all pitchforks would be raised at him. But you see, it's Liverpool's manager so everything's fine.
Fabio Vieira is on a 2 goals in 2 games run. He'll start banging them in from now on, just needs to remain injury free.

How's Eddie doing? You're a funny dude.
What are you on man.
The dude isn't built for the premier league.
If he does well, it will be to be able to restore some of what we paid for him.
😂😂😂
So to all the Arteta haters on here, If we come 2nd in the PL and say lose in the CL final, would you sack Arteta? And if so, who would you replace him with? Just curious.
If we come 2nd in the PL and lose in the CL final every season for the next 10 years, will you keep renewing his contract?

Thanks for posting this list. I wish the old Le Grove site is still online.
Look at the number 4, for example.
I see someone saying "you complain too much. Even if we win the PL & CL, you'll still complain."
What load of nonsense.
Some people project like crazy.
These people complain that an Arsenal fan is asking for a trophy.
Ask them when they expect a trophy and they come up with "so far we're 'competing', I'm okay". They'll never give you a straight answer.
You're indecisive, but you're angry someone else is decisive.
The Unibomber's Manifesto is now in 2nd place on the whacko list...
Yawn!
And I’m not a ‘fanboy’ but I recognise that Arteta has majorly contributed to our competitiveness. I’m an Arsenal supporter.
Why get into a dialogue with a person who has an intransigent way of supporting our team who is unwilling to enjoy the journey?
Arsenal dot com -
"Riccardo Calafiori has been named in the Serie A Team of the Year at the Gran Gala del Calcio - Italy's version of our PFA Awards ... And that breakout year certainly caught the attention of his fellow professionals, who voted him into the annual dream team from the country's top division."
We must have to keep winning to be able to even dare to hope
The best part of our hope is the great unknown, no one knows what a slot season looks like.
My regret is that Liverpool are too far ahead to feel any pressure, in some ways the pressure is more on the pursuers to even keep up than on them.
Anyways the season is more than the league
We have to get the cup competitions right.
There’s simply no pleasing a collection of Miserables B’ stards on here is there? And right on cue they all arrive at once in their collective misery.Like flies to shit.
