When Arteta joined Arsenal it was a rebuild that we knew would take several years. We were a club ridiculed for playing for 4th place. Playing Europa League football. Now we are competing for 1st & 3-0 up against the best team in Europe. Despite long term injuries to key players since the start of the season, this is ridiculous.

Same time Arteta joined, Man Utd spent £900m & now after recycling managers, the fans favourite solution to everything, they are just above relegation places. Exactly the same with Spurs.

So massive credit goes to the Kroenkes. They allowed Arteta the time to rebuild, while Man Utd & Spurs owners took the ‘fans’ solution; they hired, they fired, they recruited different managers players & now they have poor teams.

If Arsenal pull this off, with Merino as a false 9, Gabrielle missing, Arteta deserves huge credit. More credit than the FIFA playing clowns who don’t know football, want to give him.

That’s very good of you to say that. I’m so proud of the manager and our team tonight. 5-1aggregate is just ridiculous..!!

I agree with most of it, just wanted to say, it's very important for the owners to back a manager and give him time. But... it has to be the right manager. Sticking with the wrong one, you end up digging a deeper hole.

Whoever signed Arteta - was it Raul, Vinai or Edu, did very well.

It wasn't Raul. The Kroenke's weren't going to give him anymore sway at that point.

Sanllehi was the one who (at the last minute) convinced them to hire Emery over Arteta the first time around.

Sanllehi got pushed out the airlock, less than 8mos after Arteta was hired.

You think Edu had that power just a few months after he was appointed as technical director?

Thanks and you’ve made a great point. I feel the key issue is understanding what is needed. Having a plan. And that means patience too. I’m not sure other owners get that, certainly not Levy. If you have the best players then hiring & firing isn’t such a problem because you just need tweaks. But not when you have to rebuild bottom up. Then you have the different styles of play that require different players, so recruitment is key & takes several transfer windows. I think we got lucky.
