I love Martinelli but surely Arteta must be running out of patience with him. I think it’s all in his head. His decision making is so far off base it’s scary. I feel for him but this is high level sports. You either find the help or you’re shipped out.
I would say that was a controlled performance overall. Spuds huffed and puffed but we blew that toilet bowl down. Agree with the view that today was a must win and next week is a must not lose. I think the performance of this team over the course of this season will just get better and better. Let's go !!!
Arteta in his post match has said that he had to rethink everything after losing so many players and he had to come up with a new plan to adapt to the players we have and play deeper. That might seem simple but that is incredible self awareness to do that. Wenger used to infuriate me with lack of application of common sense in these games.
Arteta didn't do that when went to the Etihad with Holding. I can see the progress he is making from where he was. I love the guy. He has turned a team that was brittle to a team that is gritty and tries to get things done whatever the circumstances.
Saka should be rested against Atalanta before his minor injuries become major. He can come on as a sub if needed, but I doubt it. All well and good adapting from losing players but still needs to know when to give players a breather and trust his bench.
I think he will rest Saka. We can't afford not to. Because he had issues today, played all international matches, plus we play City on a Sunday after Atalanta on Thursday. Sterling is starting that game. I don't know what he can do in midfield though.
Dang I overreacted with the Ode injuries. We still have enough weapons in the team to do damage even if we lose him for a period. Still need better cover from the bench though. We need to strengthen the January window for Ode position.
Just came on here to mock the bed-wetters and whiners and let you know that Mikel is the first manager since George Graham to beat spurs in the league 3 times in a row.
People will say Mikel has spent money, which he has. Howver the success rate of his biggest signings is fantastic. Compare that with that bald Dutch guy at United.
Erik Ten Hag - Yoro (£52m), Antony (£86m), Casemiro (£70m), Mason Mount (£55m) - £263m total
Arteta - Rice (£105m), Havertz (£60m), White (£50m), Jesus (£50m) - £265m total
Imagine if we signed some of the dross they did at those crazy prices.
So if not for the idiotic refereeing against Britghton, we probably would have played 4 games without conceding one single goal. They say Championship winning teams are built from the back, we may be on to something. Especially as I believe Man City will soon be docked nothing less than 24 points. I'm pumped. Let's keep it tight. This may be the year.
You can talk about his drive, coaching ability, man management skills etc but what has been vital is that KSE have had confidence in Arteta , to provide him with the budget to improve the squad.
This was always going to be needed.
Those numpties who accuse him of being a 'cheque book manager' miss the point completely; ANY manager who was going to get Arsenal back at the top table was going to need a considerable net spend over a few years with the messed up squad that he inherited.
Just spending money has no guarantee of success - Chelsea, United etc.
Kai put in a great shift but still prefer him at CF
More I watch Trossard when he starts the less impressed I am. He does seem to give the ball away a lot and isn’t the fastest of players.
Jamie redknapp saying Timber should’ve been sent off for his ‘tackle’ what a knob
It wasn’t even a foul. He wins the ball, the spurs lad goes for it as it’s a 50/50 and unluckily gets himself caught
That’s not even a fucking free kick let alone a red.
Twat.
Completely agree
Porro’s foot was equally high.

onto city with Rice
I told you this was a smash and grab game. Got it right with that one.
yes we won great win

Excuses🙄

Usually it's the fans doing the excusing-- not the CBs. 😁
Romero and van de venn are the most overrated CBs in the PL. only Lisandro Martinez comes close
A few glorified mustafis out here getting bigged up every time they step out on a pitch

Congrats Mikel 👏🏼😄😄😄

Great win today. Thought we could be in trouble but an excellent performance in all areas
Mad that yesterday there were two people fighting in the comments that Arteta hasn't moved the needle at Arsenal.
More than 2 massively criticising and mocking him
Those same people would argue that Elvis is still alive working in a chip shop in Rotherham
Cretins

The thought of a midfield of Rice, Merino and Odegard, in front of Calafiori, Gabriel, Saliba and Timber/White. I'll be confident against anybody!
😂 Awful, innit? They are just sad sods.
If one can't see that Arteta has moved the needle it's beyond myopic now.
We haven't finished 2nd twice for no reason.
Tets has unfinished business.
