When you watch Zinchenko look so comfortable and run the game, albeit it was against PSV, it’s just ludicrous that it took so long to play Zinchy where he belongs. Had he been given more reps there who knows where we would’ve been offensively. Like I’m saying again, no need for Zubi. Let MLS understudy Partey next season.

The kid is ready. Focus on offense and let’s finally fulfill our destiny as bloody EPL champs next season … I’m just done with excuses and I’m sure the Kroenke’s are getting there

We paid 100m for a 6 with Rice. We don’t need Zubimendi. Spend that money on a creative L8 or a 10 and play Ode at 8.

We need creative players this summer.

I'm glad that opinions are coalescing about Zubimendi

He's not the right profile of DM that we need.

We need to get Rice back to #6 and get a more offensive tilted technical central midfielder next to him.

Just do good scouting for an upcoming £20 million back up , like the way Bournemouth signed Tyler Adams for £14 million last summer. There are loads of similar profile players.

Habesha Gooner's avatar

We have come full circle lol. Remember about the summer I had to fight you about Rice when you wanted Zubimendi for half the price?

You are right though, Get a cheaper DM to backup Rice for under 30m and get a creative CM for a bigger fee. That is what we should be doing.

But this Zubimendi deal is too far gone now imo. If he does get him, he has to make this work and win. The excuses are clearly over if he doesn't deliver the PL or UCL by the end of next season.

Tuchel on MLS -

“With injuries lately and the latest injury form Lewis Hall we ran out a little bit of left footers who can play left back,” he says. “We were always impressed with Myles since he started he came so quick, a regular player for Arsenal, second best team in the country at the moment, quarter finalist in Champions League so huge concurrence in his club and Mikel Arteta picks him regularly so this is very impressive from the very start.

“I can understand that it feels a little bit like we fast forward a career that is already on fast pace I can assure a parental vibe, a little bit of a protective vibe to even feel like maybe we shouldn’t nominate him to protect him a bit, to not skip under 21s, let him go there, breathe a little bit out of the spotlight

“Is this maybe even our response to not take him? But in the end with injuries and the quality and maturity he showed within the matches we decided to take him. We come back to the likes of Jordan Henderson. If we have young exciting talents like Myles in our squad it is even more important that he has the guidance and role models, players like Jordan Henderson at his side who take care of him.”

Ben White has declared himself available for England. "He loves to be back in the squad but I think it is too early for him," said Thomas Tuchel.

Chelsea reach agreement with Sporting Lisbon to sign Geovany Quenda. 17yo winger stays at #SportingCP next season, joins #CFC in summer 2026. Medical done, 7+1yr deal in place for fee between €45-50m - not far off what #MUFC aimed to pay.

Not sure if he'd be a good fit for us and all but surely the interest from Pool, Barca and Bayern is there for a reason. Pool had probably ordered shirts with his name, that's how close he was to joining them.

4 of the top clubs out there want him and he's declined joining any of them and now when he's finally decided to move on to pastures new, he's supposedly coming to Arsenal.

It sounds like we're winning a transfer war. If the player isn't all that, all the groundwork we've done for years, would be down the drain. He has to be a top player. Surely?!

Rice is only the midfield we have that has any running power. Could you imagine if he got injured and missed five months this season?

A CM unit Merino, George, Partey and Odegaard would struggle big time

Mystic Leaves's avatar

Jorginho and Partey are probably off this summer. Ideally I'd not sign any midfielders at all.

Rice goes back to DM, Odegaard drops in the 8 (left side), Haverts goes to R10.

We still got Merino and MLS as ready made covers. Maybe sign a cheapish jack of all trades MF.

Definitely no need to sign Zubi or Bruno now. But if I had to choose, I'd go Bruno anyways.

Demola Drey's avatar

Rice has limitations in progressive passes and cannot dictate the tempo from deep but he's much more capable as a box to box so we can utilize his engine. That leaves Odegaard who also can't handle our sole playmaking responsibilities and havertz is just bad in midfielbas we saw last season, hence why he was moved upfront. It's best we sign Zubimendi to dictate tempo from deep, utilize Ethan in the Ode role as he can carry the ball and doesn't slow down attacks then we use Rice in the 8 position.

Expand full comment
Olatunde's avatar

Havertz is shit anywhere in the midfield. Why is everyone afraid to say the truth. We complain about odegaard not being able to run with the ball, create much or shoot and you come up with a player whose only attribute is his height. You are planning to win the title and all you come up with is havertz playing your 10? The only reason this guy is still here is because no one is taking him from us and the reason he is playing is because arteta convinced the owner to pay 65m for him and negotiated 300k/w with him. He's been finding him a space since and havertz has been between poor and average everywhere.

Expand full comment
Mystic Leaves's avatar

Ola, Haverts has been misprofiled by Arteta and I'm not surprised because he can't see the woods from the trees. But Haverts is a good player and would definitely be better than Odegaard in the Odegaard role. That's his best position. He's not a cm, nor a CF. Just behind the striker, floating in from the right. He'd smash there.

Expand full comment
Olatunde's avatar

I know arteta can't identify his toes. But how did you arrive at your conclusion about havertz. Tell me any top club where he's played that position consistently and emerged among the very best to suggest that. A player that passes backwards in from of goal? It is true that odegaard has been the worst #10 in the last 3 decades for us but he's got so many attributes of #10 that havertz has non. Bergkamp, fabregas, ozil and odegaard.

Check out how many isak has in same period. I know you take havertz personal like your brother. We should be aiming for a player who does what he's done in a season and more. Ben Jacobs

Andrea Berta is keen to sign Bruno Guimarães, along with Martin Zubimendi.

Information confirms that Arsenal has £300m for the next transfer window.

Bruno has a verbal agreement to leave for £70m if Newcastle don’t reach the UCL.

________________________________

I don't believe the £300m. Or that we're going for Bruno G.

But if our transfer budget is even close to the £300m, like £200m+, that'll be a huge boost for our chances.

It fits with the idea that one of the top Sporting Directors agreed to join us cause he's been promised there'll be a good chunk to work with. Then the ball is in his and Arteta's court to bring the right players in and sell the ones we can live without.

A huge amount of pressure on both of them in a era defining transfer window.

Zubimendi is a tidy player. But we can do better. We just need to put Rice at 6 and sign a much cheaper backup for him. After that we will need to sign a more attacking CM. I would rather Guimaraes than Zubimendi if I have to because he can comfortably play higher up the pitch and can also play the 6 to a good level if I have to choose between the two though.

My preferences are Reijnders or Baleba though.

No need for either.

Keep Partey and have MLS be his understudy for one season. Playing at the base of the midfield is perfect for MLS. He had a great range of passing and not afraid to advance the through traffic at his feet. Big Hell No to Zubimendi.

Hope you’re watching Raptora.

Your days of scouting via Whoscored..com just blew up in your face 🤣🤣🤣

Our needs are clear and obvious.

One pacy winger

One legit striker

One playmaker to back up Odegaard

Expand full comment
Habesha Gooner's avatar

We won't be keeping Partey. Rightly so too. Because he is injury prone, huge wages, and has issues off field that haven't been completely resolved yet according too these papers that keep bringing it up. Plus he is 32. He will have better offers than being a backup DM. reliability is what wins big titles. Need to move out Jesus, Tomiyasu as well once they are fit by the end of next season.

Zubimendi isn't crap either. Good player. But we can do better. Every time I see him though It feels like I am seeing a young Jorginho.

MLS isn't a DM. He is a CM or an inverted LB. Huge difference in playing the 6 and that.

If it was up to me I would move Rice to #6 completely. And then sign a 30m back up at most. After that I would spend a bigger chunk on attacking creative CM alongside a LW and a striker.

Christian's avatar

What are you on about my dude with Partey?

Your manager played the man at right back, as well as the base of our defense and he hasn’t skipped a beat or missed a game due to injury.

Zubimendi is another Fabio Viera.

Another tidy overpriced player who has no business in the English Premier League for a team trying to win a title …

This would be like bringing a show pony when the stallions are up for racing at the track.

Come on men. The likes of Viera and Zubi are Wenger 10-15 mill players at most.

There is nothing special there or skill sets and physical tools that work in the EPL

Expand full comment
Olatunde's avatar

Tell one player better than partey this season that we can get cheaper than keeping him one more season for MLS. And estimate how much you think we'll be paying that new signing weekly since you said partey is on a HUGE wages. We have some useless players who are on more wages or same with Partey, but partey's your problem. Havertz, Jesus, martineli this are players that in reality are just there feeding on our resources. Havertz was supposed to be xhaka's replacement but he's the poor man fellaini hindering us from signing a proper striker or two because arteta knows he will be completely useless elsewhere. The other two I don't even need to talk about them.

Partey and injury prone has been registered on many people's mind that when they type partey, injury prone just follows. Else I don't understand why anyone will be talking about partey and injuries this season except for some weird agenda.

Expand full comment
Habesha Gooner's avatar

We literally have evidence Partey is injury prone. He has almost missed 2 seasons combined from the 5 he has been here.

On the ball, we won't find a better player than Partey. But there are other issues to consider. it is risk and reward. And we need to move forward from an injury prone DM that will turn 32 in the summer.
