I don’t give Angie credit for sticking to his principles because I’m not convinced they actually are principles

In my opinion it’s just banter years wenger lite. The use of the word philosophy and principles was always just an excuse for a manager not wanting to learn anything new.

When I first started out on a journey to become semi pro at fighting games, I began with a principle and philosophy that I wanted to show everyone up by intentionally only using the weakest characters. I became very very competitive and effective following that approach - but when I came up against some of the top 10 players in the world in the late stages of tournaments, I lost every single time.

Yes I had become a really top level player using bad characters and was capable of putting on a show, but if I would get edged out by vastly superior characters in totally unfair matchups vs those top top players.

In the end I realized that I shouldn’t hide behind my ‘principles’ and ‘philosophy’ to use only the worst characters because what had actually happened was after so much time invested with them, even if I wanted to I wouldn’t be able to play well enough with the best characters to do any better (or even as well) as if I continued with the crap characters.

It’s like if after 1000 games of express yourself wenger ball or Angie ball, it stops being that it’s a preference and starts to be that they don’t have a clue how to do it any other way. If you said to those guys ‘set up a defensive system’ even just hypothetically I’m not sure they could tell you anything more advanced than putting lots of players behind the ball

"very good Monaco side" - not sure about that. Their team looks like Arsenal team after all the Ozils and Aubas were kicked out and all players were 21 year olds.

Also, if we play partey at right back he sits or inverts meaning we can play KT who offers overlaps, overloads, width and a wicked cross. This would give our left side some much needed dynamism. Do not get this crazy obsession with timber at lb. Share legs round holes. We are clearly stunted going forward when he plays lb

hmm benji is generally reliable so I wouldn‘t add him to this conversation but tomi, zin and cala are more out than ready to play. a very intelligent person once said ‚availability is the best ability‘ and true it is. we need an LB we can rely on for a season and I feae we don‘t have it at the club so looking for davies (though same injury history) does make sense to me but I would probably look out for a more reliable LB

We have zinchenko mls Tierney timber and now Calafiori is back. Thats 5 available left backs

timber is a RB. he is our emergency LB. MLS is young and raw, will have good and bad games. the other three are constantly unavailable

Saka is a left wing, but plays right wing. What’s your point?

my point is you shouldn‘t have someone being first choice due to failing availability of others - even more so when it‘s not their best position. we need a reliable LB

Kiwior can play LB

Kiwior did really well at LB-- in the midst of our extended winning spell, during the second half of last season.

This with the full backs is getting fucking ridiculous

When we need to invigorate our attack and add variety

Well...we buy these left backs who have had injury problems in their careers (Tomiyasu and Califiori) and we hope that they'll work out...and unfortunately they don't because they get injured (again)...can we please be a little bit more selective before we spend Stan and Josh's money?
