God, we need Jesus.

Our first half performance was frankly "piss poor", which was hardly surprising when you make eight outfield changes. They played like a bunch of strangers.

The one positive from this game is that Jesus had a very good second half and at long last

found his "shooting boots". Whether that was a one trick pony remains to be seen.

However, what is of concern is our recruitment this summer. Calafiori has been out injured

on three separate occasions this season. Merino is frankly no better than a bench player

and Sterling has failed to make the grade.

The fourth recruit Neto our so-called second string goalkeeper has yet to make an appearance and I want to focus on that decision. I made the case on several occasions at

the start of the season that his recruitment was a dreadful decision not least because he

is not qualified to play in Carabo Cup.

Now we learn that our second string goalkeeper raises concerns of the coaching staff about

his fitness and overall performance in training. That means that if Raya suffers injury as he

did earlier in the season we are resorting to using an 18 year old goalkeeper!! Indeed in

his absence we played Potter a 16 year old.

We have known for a long time that our goalkeeping recruitment has not been great. If we

are going to recruit in the January transfer window then the priority must be a second string

goalkeeper. Otherwise should something happen to Raya our season could implode.

The goals last night

They were incisive

We stretched the pitch and ran behind which allowed Odegaard to pass from deep

No slow crab football

We drew them out

More of this please

Also Jesus was magnificent

I never went in on all that “He is finished” talk. I prefer him wide where he can run

If he’s at 9 he tends to drop deep for the ball as Hes crowded out

When he’s wide he can run behind or dribble toward goal without having his back to goal

Suits him better

Those finishes were top drawer

I really tried to read the piece but it became long winded and I stopped when I read the phases. An A+ for effort to put this piece together as it must have occupied quite a bit of your time that you could have spent doing other things.

Back to the phases, I get the distinct feeling that when a phase didn't produce results of silverware then it was just a phase advancing us to the silverware phase.

Like when we finished 5th behind Sp*ds we were in phase-n and the following season we are in phase-n+1. After the end of phase-n+1 where we spent the most days on top of the league without winning the title, we progressed and will now build phase-n+2. Once that ended with no silverware we are still on the right track because we now entered phase-n+3 finishing 2 points of top and all hope was that phase-n+4 surely will be the silverware phase. Looks like perhaps phase-n+5 will now be the earliest phase for silverware.

I can't keep up with the phases but there is a very simple solution. phase Arteta out and we will be in the silverware phase.

You should incorporate a version number at the post's end-- to track the many hundreds of different rewrites, of the exact same post-- for posterity's sake.

Thank you I feel so honored that you try to carefully study my posts to come up with this version solution so that you can keep track. I though have to disappoint you it won't work because of your amoebic brain.

Thanks Jamil. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Too bad it's the smooth-brained, who showed up first-- regurgitating the other's bile.

The writer spent at least a couple of hours composing this piece-- for you to shit on it-- with some pithy caricature.

"I can see Arteta winning the league more easily than I can see us winning it. If I had to choose."

I'm not certain what this means, are you arguing Arsenal are holding Arteta back from greatness because stadium jinxed and he has to leave before he wins league?

Arsenal are doing Arteta a favour by employing him at all, while you've convinced yourself top tier sports teams winning trophies is irrelevant, that's not how players and many fans feel.

Arteta needs to start winning competitions, that's what top clubs do which is what we are, or our best players will leave because they won't be impressed by stories about Clough.

Do you listen to yourself? Coming here to complain about a writer's contribution?

If you don't agree-- why piss on Jamil's effort?

The fact is that Arsenal have to start consistently playing better in order to have a chance to win the league. We need to win against teams that are ahead of us and behind us...we need to surprise people at how good we are...and I can't wait to see more games like tonight's game. Can we win at Anfield in a Premiere League match for the 1st time since 2012? Let's see if we can! Vamos vamos Arsenal!

I’ll start by saying again thank you and mad respect to Arteta for getting us to where we are now and to Pedro for incredible and consistent content and for creating a great community. Thank you. But - what phase of the process are we in right now? Our manager is a freak for winning? What? When? What has to be perfect for him to win major trophies? How long will Saka, Saliba, Gabriel, even Ethan stay with us? We cannot keep blaming red cards when the team puts in Fulham and Everton type performances. How are Liverpool and Chelsea performing so well with their non-generational and brand new managers? Arteta has been backed with massive funds. He has material oversight over everything. When does this translate into a major trophy or do we keep providing excuses while castigating anyone who things we have been given the tools and funding to do better?
