Totally agree, England needs to go all IN with a better manager than Southgate. Bland football everywhere, how shite you have to be that Saka and Foden turns out to be underperformers under you.

They should have got Flick.

Expand full comment

They should hire Pep. Immediately.

Expand full comment

What a bizarre recommendation

Didn’t Flick shit the bed with Germany, the same team Nagelsman has ballin in no time?

Expand full comment

That disappointment phase came after couple of wonderful years for him. By that logic, Graham shit the bed at Chelsea and shouldn't be considered as well.

I like Gyokeres, hard worker and link up like Jesus but stronger and durable.

Expand full comment

Goal scoring record of Gyokeres not that impressive if you look back before last season (29 in 33 -almost a goal a game but in pub league)

Before that he barely managed 0.5 goals a game. He is 26 and past the age I hoped Arsenal would be buying at

Haven’t seen him play so these stats are really the only thing to go on. I just hope we’ve scouted well if we really are buying him

I think I like what I've seen of this Gyokeres albeit on YouTube. At least better than anything I've seen of Braithwaite and that United striker combined. Although my preference is still to persist with havertz because I dread what arteta might do with him should we buy a striker for such a sum.

Braithwaite is an Everton CB no?

Expand full comment

Lool, Espagnol CF

Expand full comment

There's a CB at Everton with that name.

Of course I know about the Danish version and ain't no way he's bee linked to us at 32 ish and mediocre.

Whoever appointed Southgate should be jailed.

England is competing.

Well, performance level could& should have been much better with the talent at his disposal. 1 nil and appeared to park the bus?

It's basically what the pundits showed at half time of the Denmark game. Until we scored the goal we were on the front foot, but once Kane scored, the team played much deeper.

The polite way of saying this is that Southgate is being pragmatic but the truth is, is that he is being cautious.

I have been watching the tributes to Kevin Campbell for the past week. Everyone has said about how good a person he was. What a gent. Rest in power super kev.

"He shouldn't play midfield either under any circumstances whatsoever. Haverts is such a pointless and mistake signing."

--Says the guy who got Havertz wrong from the beginning.

Every professional in the sport rates Kai, and highly...,

...but we should take professional advice from Mistakeleaves who got everything wrong about Arsenal for the past 5 years at the minimum.

Maybe learn to spell the players name before dropping the poorly thought out opinions in public.

Expand full comment

Any player, whether good or bad, can be rated by all the coaches in this world and can still be a mistake and pointless signing for a team depending on needs and how his signing limits or affects the fortunes of the team moving forward.

Haverts have already been found out as not suitable to play midfield for us, which was where he was signed to play originally. He's been moved up top where's he's performed admirably and if media is to be believed, we have already tried and failed to sign Sesko (better striker than Kai) and are about to spend a fortune on either Gykores (more names to learn added to my lesson plan) or Osimhen (I'm pretty sure I got this one lol). That's what you call "pointless and mistake".

PS: Good to see you have been keeping an eye on me for the past 5 years. You must be very jobless or in love but I don't do men, sorry😅😅

Just saw that Arsenal are close to signing Victor Gyekeros for initial fee of 90Euros and with add ons expected to reach beyond 100 M. Wow unbelievable when you consider a PL proven younger olise going for 60 M.

Expand full comment

I saw it too

Expand full comment

I don't think this is sustainable in long run. Running out academy to ground while signing players in excess of 100M from Europe.

Expand full comment

Well the problem is City are going to keep buying 100m players. Chelsea too. Man United, though poorer these days, can still throw away cash to get the very best from the market. Newcastle is another oil money club now, if not for FFP, they would have been chasing Mbappe.

Even Klopp at Liverpool got VVD and a GK in 70m+ deals.

It's a level playing field, if we depend on academy, it's going to take much longer to win something of importance.

Olise going to Bayern well the grapevine is that he is not good enough for Arsenal and the generational serial winner.

Expand full comment

What grapevine ? I haven’t seen that said anywhere. We simply cannot spend that sort of sum on a backup player

Expand full comment

Yea, haven't seen that either. He's simply not benching Saka nor Odeegard which is where he can play. Would just be an expensive pointless signing.

Much rather sign Eze who would benefit us actually

Expand full comment

Ok Viktor Gyokeres looks a machine almost cyborg-like but it's translating that into the PL that is the question. Looks the finished product in comparison to the younger Sesko. Would be a now player. I think he can rack up the goals to win us the league especially against the lesser teams and would just be what we need against those slippery teams like Villa and Newcastle that always do a number on us. We need a striker that finishes chances half chances and creates for teammates and I'd be good with his signing.

Expand full comment

At the reported €80 +30m fees, he better be the now player and could bring in moments of brilliance (that don't need 21 passes) to win slippery games, as mentioned.

Pluses going for him is readiness for the PL roughness and great injury records... Championship is worse so we wouldn't need to worry about adaptation of physical games. Plenty of scoring chances playing in the Arsenal team but we need someone who singlemindedly wants to score rather than making another pass

Expand full comment

Would rather Osimhen than Gyokeres but either will do. We just need a finisher who would be a presence in the box and finish half chances and score striker goals

Saliba with a much better performance tonight. Always feel top players will adapt to what is asked quickly. One game to settle. And another to start playing at a good level. He looked a lot more comfortable playing LCB. He is starting to figure out the body angles and the passing angles. He is a gem.

France's attack without Mbappe looked very poor. It is still a good attack but Mbappe is what makes it special.

Expand full comment

Saliba made defending that 1v1 easy , almost elegant hahaha

Expand full comment

If I remember correctly Mbappe played in the last match and couldn't do shit. If not for Griezman channeling is inner Lukaku, France would have won by 3 goals atleast.

Expand full comment

France have the same problem as England. No creative/attacking midfielders. No Zidane for more clarity. Their midfield full of central midfielders. So without mbappe who can make things happen on his own like the last world cup, they are ordinary.

Expand full comment

Bellingham, no?

Expand full comment

Well, I thought the game would end up in a draw.

You can tell that Mbappé was sorely missed on the team.
