I love the fact people are still clinging on but I'm done for this season. I'm hypertensive now and Arsenal is a part of that. The closest I went to totally losing it before Arteta came was the madness at Baku. Arteta has taken it to new heights. He even make ridiculous quotes which I find absolutely insulting to fans and even the club owners that we're so quick to blame.

And I'm not just logging out for the league. I'll include the UCL too. It's the hope that kills. I refuse to believe a team that couldn't beat a shite West Ham to stay in the EPL race can muscle their way to the top of European football.

And if by some more stroke of foolishness that only us can muster we end up losing Saliba and Partey in the summer window I'll stay off till something definitive happens. I do not believe Arteta has it in him to replace any of those adequately. And that's half of our spine right there.

Pedro, blaming injuries for our current state is just a silly cop out from the real reasons which I'll list below ;

1. Our refusal or there I say arrogance to bolster the squad: everyone and their dog knew we needed attacking reinforcements even when all our presentsl attackers were fit. We were lucky with injuries last season when pool had to field kids towards the business end , heck they won the carabao cup with kids in their lineup

2. Our discipline: Even Arsenal know they are being reffed differently, you'd think our professional players would have the brain capacity to not do stupid things that gives these officials a reason to screw us over

3. Arteta's Rigid playing style: our slow and ponderous football has always been less effective breaking down mid to low blocks and Arteta's refusal to change this or at least sign personnel that suit his fine margins football would see us drop more points than gain against teams that employ this tactic. Klopp last season won a few games last season when they struggled with injuries and had to field kids, they were churning out results that they bottled it when they had players returning to the 11 form injuries. Last season we used to be the team that could play any sort of game from free flowing to defensive and counter attacking masterclasss, but now it's just pass to Saka and pray then set pieces.

Incompetence at board level: the real reason were back to the Wenger times of having the manager having a lot of say on things that shouldn't concern him... The head coach role was perfect.

"Did you know David Raya clocked the fastest sprint in Arsenal v West Ham, at 32.7km/h?"

I wondered about this - the above stat is a tweet from premier league twitter acct - while we were watching match. I know Marti is our only player with decent speed but goalie being fastest player on pitch seems odd.

When playing GK in high school and college-- almost certain I was the fastest on those teams.

Then again, soccer was my fourth sport.

Playing CF in baseball.

PG in basketball.

Both QB and WR in American football.

After college added a fifth. Ultimate. Proved to be what I excelled at for over 20yrs.

Kinda' cool David Raya has both quick-twitch reactions-- AND pace to match it with.

Bodes well for a long career.

I'm on a knife edge. I'm one injury away from having it with Arteta. He is too good of a coach to do this to himself, but it was clear he was more bluffing than anything else Saturday. I think a different system may suit us if he can't fit the personnel into it the rest of the season without them getting injured. He rotates too little and his imagination seems trapped in 4-3-3 with attacking wingers who defend like wingbacks. He will continue to pull hamstrings from attacking players with that mentality.

Hey man, not trying to talk you down here-- but this is (y)our club.

From being #ArtetaIn back in December 2017-- to coming off the boil all these years later.

I've not been pleased with some of his stodginess this past year or so...

That said? I'm still here to be convinced by Mikel-- that he can learn and adapt from the lessons of the here and now.

some folks on here should read this. Nothing bad to say about Ode but he aint cutting it for us and he is not going to turn this around somehow. There are so many better players out there. 34 based on that list if you want to go from that. We need 2 cams or 2 attacking mids in the team at same time. Ditch this lousy 433

Arteta will never. He’s want to be safe that’s why he only buys defensive players. Safe, boring sideways , backwards football first.

A DOF is the most critical hire the club can make. Someone who can be independent to Mikel and Josh. Someone who knows their craft so well and construct arguments for players that cannot be really debated. No Mikel favorites or ex players, or from Spain etc. No more Defenders or Left backs. Ayto aint it. He is a yes man, likely a cunt as well kiss ass.

The backroom and board are cozy fuckers. The only hope this club has is a DOF that can talk sense to these donkeys.

As some have alluded, its also Mike's style of play that has hurt us. Being hard to beat is not good enough. WE need to be that attacking force again. We need Big Egos at the team. Not choir boys and yes men, soldier utilitarian types.

Mikel plays the most turgid and bland football. Id take a Wenger midfield and attack any day over this shit.

Ode needs to be sold. He has reached his peak a season or 2 ago. We will not get better with him. Its been seen once and for all please. Ethan can take his place and do much better I can tell you right now.

We need true attacking midfielders. A striker or 2 ( to be honest we need a starter and another back up) Jesus should be sold to anyone.

We are not guaranteed to get Isak or anyone else. All this chatter about how we are ready with big money is just shit and God knows how much Stan wants to actually spend.

Im fairly certain Mikel has taken us as far as we can go. We are better yes, but we are not able to cross the line whatsoever. Without scoring power we always fall short in cups and we end up with so many draws in the league that the title slips slowly away.

This summer I hope we can see 4-5 attackers come in. Strikers and some attacking mids/ wingers

As some have alluded to, the pundits, if the club does not show ambition, players will leave. Then its starting over again.

Someone needs to get in Mike's head also about not playing favorites. Bench players who are not performing. Make them earn their spot again. Ode, Kai, Marti, Tross have had bad spells this season.

Much of this is on Mikel. If he cannot change his ways, adapt, quickly we will be in the same boat every year.

Gutted at the moment, but not giving up on the club, players or manager. Anyone who knows a professional or elite athlete will know the vast majority of them have an incredible desire to win. And Arteta strikes me as on the extreme end of even said elites in wanting to win.

He might not admit it, but he will be gutted the way this season has gone, if he or the club have made mistakes in squad size, letting too many go or not buying the numbers or quality, I would not expect the same mistakes to be made this summer, unless there are structural or financial reasons we don’t know about. Still plenty to play for this season, and a very important summer ahead, which I fully expect them to get right this time . Reading around on Artetas reaction after last weekend, whatever is wrong , I don’t expect him to take it lightly or dismiss it, by all accounts he was furious

Arteta never win a major honour as a player. He was bang average. So how is he on the extreme end of wanting to win.

He was a boring shite player who never made it at Barca or Spain NT. He was captain during our banter years.

What a winner. Elite.

Pedro, lol.

First, you never agreed Liverpool had those ingredients. All the juice was with us! After all, we’ve topped the table for the most days in over the last two years. Wrong move.

Second, the incredible lack of injuries in a squad that is coming to the end of its cycle, is not luck, but diligent management, which Arteta has shown to lack. Another wrong move.

What’s with easy starts and runs? You’ve not seen teams ruin easy runs?

And red cards too, who called for it. If you discover that you’re somehow the target of authorities in a competition, wisdom demands you don’t fall for their trap, only to blame them for your negligence. Wrong move.

Fourth, Liverpool will not repeat this season. What if they better it next season? It’s the arrogance that actually kills us.

Whose choice was it to gamble on a light squad? After the nearly runs of the last two seasons, wisdom demands that every loophole be covered, including a short squad; that’s arrogance and incompetence of somebody or a group of persons

When you write that these things can be fixed with good leadership, I hope it includes management changes? Lol…as far as I know, 5 years is such a long time for a manager to prove his worth. Average!

Written much. I come in peace though

‘Next year is do or die for Arteta without a doubt.

For one thing the club can’t ever allow itself to fall back into the top four is a trophy stuff, so Arteta has to win something. ‘

It isn’t.

Aaand ……..he doesn’t.

He’s contracted until 2027 and he’ll be here until then( at least ) trophy or not.

He’s got an understanding with Kroenkes that he may not get the money he demands for squad building, but in return he doesn’t have to win and his personal wages make up for any inconvenience.

Barca job will always be there in the future since everyone not associated with Real gets their turn.

But it won’t be a ‘project’ but rather one and done ( if failed ) and at the fraction of his Arsenal wages.

Barca are not stupid enough to hire a perennial bottler like Arteta. He never made it as a player there , they won’t hire him as a manager

If that’s true (and it might well be) then that tells me Arsenal aren’t serious about challenging for the biggest honours in the game, so why should the average Joe care.
