Positive injury news today. Saliba is back from Suspension, Timber is fine and things look okay regarding Gabriel according to Arteta. And Odegaard has been on the grass for a few weeks.

Calafiori will be out for a few weeks though and there is zero news on Tomiyasu who needs to be sold ASAP.

As soon as players start coming back, we will see a serious improvement in performances. And we will get closer to the top.

Rodri's winning balon d'or is more proof that football has become a rubbish sport. Not that I care about awards that are always rigged and have lost their original meaning.

Expand full comment

Iniesta and Xavi never won the Ballon d'Or btw.

Messi won it while playing for Inter Miami (lolz).

It's a joke award.

"Messi won it while playing for Inter Miami (lolz)."

That's a dishonest take

He won it for the world cup that sealed his GOAT status

Nothing to do with his work in the MLS

Dishonest is giving the award to the player deemed to have performed the best over the previous season but disregarding the club football as a whole and giving it for a national team tournament he scored 5 penalties in? Whatever.

Rodri is a fouling machine that gets away with it. If that's what is being rewarded, then I rest my case. Rubbish sport.

Lolol. Change sports asap

He does get away with countless fouls btw. Some are not even given, some are for yellows but he's spared. The City factor.

The Bournemouth loss is on Arteta

He didn't set the team up to win that game and then he made the wrong adjustments after the red card.

Nothing to do with PGMOL, or counting up to 115.

What about the draw against Brighton or the draw against City or the draw against Liverpool?

Since our players were twice sent off for kicking the ball away (it was a foul against Rice btw), I've seen tens of times players do the same and not even be shown a 1st yellow card, let alone sent off. Saw it again against Liverpool with Diaz. Nothing given as expected.

The choking against Havertz from a Wolves player is up there by the same guy that later fingered Jesus' ass. Nothing given.

Van Dijk kicked Havertz about 3 times in the same incident. Nothing given.

Saliba's red against Bournemouth?

https://x.com/AFCAMDEN/status/1847707761930375336 this by the same VAR is a yellow.

That Colwill just about a week ago - yellow.

Look at this one - https://x.com/iam_philopearl/status/1850565237994356771 this is a yellow for van de Ven. This one is scandalous btw as the player is going 1v1 and is waaaay, waaay closer to the goal than the one of Saliba.

Rules are different for Arsenal. Always have been - I started following in 1997, back then it was Fergie, then Chelsea, then City, the opponents always supported by the refs in our detriment.

I don't want to even talk about it. The things we have to suffer to compete are crazy. Wenger knew it. Now Arteta sees it firsthand.

Just as a guideline though - if only that ill Newcastle goal against us was ruled out, we would have been champions last season.

They decided to cut our wings early this season to stop us early on. 6 points loss at a minimum due to ref mistakes. We're just at about 1/4 of the season. It's nuts.

I never thought I’d agree with the rules are different for Arsenal argument until this season.

It’s borderline criminal. I hate whining about officials but these guys have gone out of their way to screw Arsenal.

The Rice second yellow was outrageous.

The one against Trossard was justified and he’s a massive prick for being that petulant and leaving his team short. That one is on him.

The Willow one was a judgement call and we know the refs will show no mercy but others have been given the benefit of doubt but never Arsenal .:: and that’s the main reason for fans being disgruntled … that lack of fairness and equal treatment

Look.Gillet interfered from his position of influence on VAR when the ref had already made the decision. It wasn’t ‘ clear & obvious’.He had no reason to.But saw his chance.( as a Liverpool fan)Theres been enough of debate about it already. And there’s been widespread condemnation of it bearing in mind similar incidents.so unlike you Im not pleased to see him.Not in the slightest.Tom would prefer Mother Theresa. Each to his own.😉

Reading about the Ballon d’Or event and that was some disgraceful behaviour by Madrid and Brazilians, adults having a temper tantrum when they don't win is childish. I remember both Ronaldo and Messi would show up and there were no theatrics, I assume this is just Real trying to bully voters into correct decisions in the future.

You couldn’t make it up.Theyve just put John Brookes as ref for Newcastle match & the icing on the cake just to make sure we get f ** d over. Our old friend “ Jarred Gillet” on VAR.! He’s now officiated in some capacity ,correct me if I’m wrong, six of our last 10 ( sat) matches.Amongs other dubious decisions,he was the very one who made sure Saliba got his marching orders .

Sorry but this is a f*** ng wind up .The PGMOL are looking to finish us off this wk end.

Oh, and one more to LeGrovers.

There is a small cabal who are determined to wind some of you up over Arteta, so why react so angrily to it. In the end Arteta is one of the best paid coach’s in the world but has a big sky blue juggernaut in front of him.

It’s up to him and Edu to build a strategically capable team to override the City juggernaut and silence these attention seekers

Can't disagree with any of that sentiment

Arteta accepts responsibility, It's his virulent defenders that work feverishly to shift responsibility away from him.

Expand full comment

Accepting responsibility is different from fighting and winning your battles. No matter how good Arteta eventually has become for us given the circumstances, there's a possibility that he ain't good enough to get to the finish line. The question is how long are people ready to wait before they are convinced? Our elastic levels are different. Mine is this season end. To Ciro and MG42, it was last season or 2, to Christian, maybe 12 years time. Don't get me started on kpankulu and Positive Pete. We all know ourselves.

Nobody is on a deliberate wind up. Just people who disagree on subject matters presented on a blog.

Tottenham Hotspur and Brazil striker Richarlison, has come out to verbally threaten authorities to ensure that Vini wins the Balon D’Or

On Twitter, he wrote that …“ E se o Vini não ganhar olé olé olá. O pau vai quebrar” meaning that ….

“If Vini doesn’t win, s**t is going to go down”

Is there a more numbskulled footballer than Richarlison?

I got in a taxi en route to the game . The driver spotted my scarf and said ‘ Arsenal are in for a shock today’.I enquired if this meant we’d win! ( He outed himself as a Citeh fan so I asked him how many points they would have deducted . He didn’t answer .

I was encouraged by Sunday and Pedro’s re port is on the money . Merino is adapting fast- that was a hell of a game to come into. If we can stabilise against Newcastle and Chelsea and get Odegaard back we are in decent shape . Liverpool didn’t look special. But Mikel tends to allow us to be too passive . We were brilliant until we went 2-1 up and after they equalised we took over again . Keep the faith

Rodri winning the Ballon d'Or while he wasn't even nominated in the top 8 contenders for Premier League's Player of the Season.

Emiliano Martinez wins the Yachine Trophy when he's about the 4th best GK in the Premier League.

When it's Messi, he could fail for his country for a decade plus but keep racking up the award, but when Rodri and Martinez win, it's because they were top drawer for their National Teams?

Nedved ahead of Henry. It goes way back.

Last season’s EPL award to Foden was a bloody joke. The island stuffed the ballot boxes there 🤣🤣. That award belonged to Rodri. However I see why Vini is pissed off. However there is no excuse for the behavior of club and player. If you’re so mad go and settle things on the field and show the voters how wrong they were

Expand full comment

When you see that having a very good team of defence contributes to cleansheets, then the PL best GK awards should be scrapped. Emi is atleast top 3 GK in the PL going by the last 3 years alone. Cleansheet numbers or not. Add his heroics on the international stage, clearly deserved award.

It's a traversty that Rodri didn't win the PL MVP last season. The voters don't have love for midfielders and defenders when it comes to awards so that's the bias right there.

How can you count 3 players last season in the PL without counting Rodri? Insane

Clear as day kick away by Diaz.

What’s the difference between Trossard and Rice’s yellow card offenses.

These refs are so bent … not even gonna mention two violent kick outs by VanDijk.

Imagine Saliba doing that to Salah at Anfield.

I’ve complained at length about my frustration with our own performance in the second half vs pool, but want to park that for a minute to say I genuinely feel like I’m falling out of love with the game due to officiating corruption

When Jesus scores that goal I already had heard the whistle even tho I was certain nothing had happened. Watched the replay back and sure enough. It’s the latest in a never ending line of efforts to punish Arsenal hard for whatever they possibly can.

That our goal took so long on var review was telling. They couldn’t see an offside but they desperately wanted to.

When Arsenal kick the ball away, time waste or commit fouls in dangerous positions, they come down with the full force of the rules of the game. But how many times do we have to sit and watch opposition teams getting let off for the same shit?

Nunez committed something like 6 fouls before getting a yellow the other day. Players routinely kick the ball away left and right and it’s only 1/10 which get punished, unless you’re Arsenal in which case they can’t wait.

It’s literally ruining the sport.

Completely disagree with the positive spin on the Liverpool result

We played brilliantly in the first half. We underscored in that half that Liverpool aren’t actually very special and that we are genuinely a superior team.

Then in the second half the moment Gabriel went off we retreated into a very negative space where we allowed them to look like they were a man up. It was completely unnecessary. The surrendering of the lead felt unfortunately inevitable given that second half has happened several times this season and has often ended the same way.

Brighton, Bournemouth, city all ended in us putting defense first but capitulating. The worse thing about this game is we had 11 players on the pitch and we’re at home against a Liverpool team that isn’t as good as people are making out.

This was a chance to confidently come out in the second half, keep playing the same way and wait for our third goal which felt inevitable given Liverpool were a mixed bag defensively.

Score that next goal and we go on to win this game and get a statement result. A chance to silence the doubters after a start to the season where we’ve shat the bed repeatedly and not played anywhere near our best in many of these games.

Instead arteta went for a Jose mourinho shut out for 45 mins. I’m sorry but if you’re going to defend a one goal lead at home for 45 mins you damn well better pull it off. Always felt at risk unfortunately and just as in the other backs against the wall performances this season, we eventually buckled.

We’re chasing 115 cheaty for points already and it’s only October. That second half was the perfect chance to kick start our season. Instead we’ve ‘settled’ for less and it will be halves like that, Brighton, Bournemouth etc that will eventually cost us the title.

We surrendered. It was a capitulation. Again. Not a good result.
