‘Next summer’, ‘Next season’… Patrice Evra was right on the money with his Netflix analogy. So disappointing but predictable. Arsenal just keep selling us on the dream of next year, and you’ve taken the bait hook line and sinker. The gamble of not getting anyone in isn’t worth it. If it goes wrong from here then the crowd will turn on the club and Arteta so fast that will cause massive division again in the fan base. At this point we didn’t just need level raisers, when needed decent cover in case we get even more bad luck with injuries. There’s everything to play for and in life you need to take risks to win the biggest prizes. They’ve gone conservative and think we might just have enough to scrape something this year. That won’t get it done. Me and so many Arsenal fans knows this, that’s why we’re fed up with the constant promise of tomorrow. So so boring.

Ornstein video explaining what went on with Watkins.

He says Villa offered Ollie for 60m but we bid 40m. Villa were clear in they valuation and what they wanted, we decided that's overpriced. When Villa understood Arsenal will not go higher, they pivoted to selling Duran and keeping Ollie. That was the end of the conversation between the clubs.

Ornstein says Arsenal's valuation might be debatable as Kane moved to Bayern older than Watkins for 100m euro.

He also says Watkins might have pushed for a transfer had the numbers been closer but at 40m bid when Villa were clear they want 60m, it didn't come close.

All in all, Arsenal would have only went for Ollie if he was a market opportunity. I will agree with Villa on this one, I think 60m was fair price. Maybe 55m + some bonuses, I would have been completely fine with. The club decided they aren't interested in such a deal.

Deadline day disappoinment...Arsenal leave empty handed.

Those carefully chosen words will continue to echo into my ears for as long as the remaining league season would last.

Yes, empty handed!

Disappointed! Arsenal once again deflated. Even the joy of thrashing Man City 5-1 cannot replace the pain and grief of not signing a proven forward.

As a matter of fact, Arsenal did the right thing in January by not spending unreasonably on a player that's not top quality, or won't be of long-term benefit. Ollie Watkins @ £40m wasn't necessary. If he was 18 to 25 then I'd risk it. January decision was the best but last summer's was the worst.

The truth is Arsenal failed in January because they failed last summer. The inability of Arsenal to have bought a top class natural goal scorer last summer is responsible for where they are presently: second on the table (6, or 9, points behind Liverpool).

Pedro thinks the injustice done to Arsenal by match officials is responsible, but if you had a ruthless striker that converts the goal scoring chances Kai and Jesus miss, you'd still be atop. Liverpool are where they are on the table because they have a proven, natural finisher in Salah; then they have Gapko, Nunes and Diaz - all of them goal threats. Arsenal don't have such firepower.

I really hope that Kai stays fit. I really pray no catastrophe visits Arsenal for the remainder of the season. I sincerely hope Arsenal don't implode.

Above all, I hope Arsenal have learned enough lesson and will do everything possible to get the striker they crave for. Sesko, Isak or Gyokeres. I will hardly forgive Arsenal if they did anything less.

Warning: If Arsenal fail to do the right thing next summer, I can sense the house Arteta has built would begin to collapse. The big guys would begin to lose faith in the manager and the project-they would begin to contemplate other options and that would gradually impact negatively on the commitment and confidence of the players thus unsettle the dressing room. Then shouts and boos of #ArtetaOut will begin.

I hope not.

OK....so we didn't sign a striker for precisely the reason that Pedro stated.....and I'm fine with that.....After a result like Sunday's and if we can stay injury free and catch a bit of luck then there's no reason why we can't overhaul the scabby scousers and win the league as well as going deep into the champions league....Is feidir linn.💪

Finally an admission that the summer TW was badly managed. That’s all we want from you Pedro. Acknowledgement of the facts. One bad window or a couple of bad transfers doesn’t mean the team is shit and doesn’t mean Tets isn’t doing a great job. It only highlights potential areas of improvement.

Also, your phase 5 window will also be unsatisfactory. We will have a huge outflow of players. Tierney, Chenko, Partey, Jorg, Kiwior, Tomi and probably Trossard, and Jesus is crippled. Even with Zubi confirmed, one incoming striker and wide player and obviously a keeper (9th one under Tets ?) we’ll still only have 3mfers (merino rice and Zubi) for two positions and 6 players across out back line covering 4 positions. Plus if Nwaneri is backup to Saka, ode will still be our only creative mid.

Meh. Crap window and a needless gamble. Could’ve easily got a loan sorted to at least cover Kai. The Watkins bid was pure PR, Smelt of end stage Wenger. If we’d of bid earlier then we’d have given Villa a decision to make. Instead we end up looking cheap AGAIN. Man City game has pumped some positivity but a new signing would’ve cemented it. Shame that’s it’s another year of “next year”

We're in this perpetual cycle-- dating back to Arteta's hiring mid-season (in December 2019), where the club's needs are/were difficult to address-- because of that timing. We're always getting secondary targets-- because those windows where we should be splashing cash-- are the windows where we're in season (January).

We got Rice-- for a premium in a Summer TW.

Picked up Kai-- as an opportunity buy, unexpectedly, in a Summer TW.

Reeled-in Raya-- as an opportunity buy-- very late in a Summer TW.

The rest we've bargained for (Vlahovic, Sesko, Williams, Watkins)-- in a January environ that didn't favor business getting done.

(I mean-- did we not dodge an 88mm shell, ending up with Trossard-- instead of Mudryk!?)

Frustrating-- for me too. But through the lens I'm viewing these events-- only an entitled perspective expects our club to reel in any of those above-- in a January TW.

Get a grip. With both hands.

Patience-- is being preached.

Give our back-office one more TW to get synced-- before you lay your soul bare on the internet.

I think it's a marginal decision to not bring anyone in but I can definitely understand it based on the lack of an available 'no-brainer' addition. What I think we can all agree on is that it raises the stakes tremendously for this summer. Next season will be make or break in keeping this squad together-otherwise we could see Saliba being the first to leave us, probably for Real Madrid. However, if we make the right signings, (Zubimendi, Williams and Sesko are the current favourites) then we might finally reach the mountaintop.

So the transfer window closed without us spending any money. From my perspective that was not altogether surprising, because the only players of potential interest were centre forwards

and none of those were available.

Arsenal have spent in last two transfer windows according to Transfermarkt just Euros 108.90 Million [Deficit Euros 25.11 Million]

By contrast Five EPL Clubs spent over Euros 200 Million. These were:

BRIGHTON Euros 279.95 Million [Deficit Euros 230.16 Million]

MAN UTD Euros 244.50 Million [Deficit Euros 141.50 Million]

MAN CITY Euros 243.00 Million [Deficit Euros 102.00 Million]

CHELSEA Euros 230.50 Million [Deficit Euros 15.60 Million]

ASTON V Euros 208.20 Million [Deficit Euros 47.50 Million]

The smallest spenders were

LIVERPOOL Euros 42.00 Million [Surplus Euros 5.00 Million]

NEWCASTLE Euros 68.20 Million [Deficit Euros 18.80 Million]

Overall Arsenal ranked 12th largest spenders and had the 9th smallest deficit.

My expectation is that Arsenal will spend next summer over Euros 200 million in market on most

probably 4 players namely a CF [probably Sesko], DMF [probably Zubimendi] RW [probably Williams] and a second string GK.

No need to panic. We are a very good side. People will have their own views, of course, however, I didn’t just want anybody/squad filler. I would rather wait until the Summer window and try to secure the players the club have planned for.

We need to be smart this summer.  Šeško's a gamble, Isak's overpriced.  Musiala is the answer imo! He will have one year left on his deal (only 22yrs old).

Just imagine a fluid front 3 of:

Musiala - Havertz - Saka

It’s the wrong decision Pedro. This is too much of a risk and reminds me of the Wenger day of falling short in our ambition because we failed to strengthen. Time will tell Pedro but this strongly feels like a huge missed opportunity.
