Did the UK change clocks today, why is everything off schedule?

And I saw this at Guardian live blog, Pedro can no longer use young squad as an excuse.

"With an average age of 23 years and 220 days, Chelsea’s starting XI across the season is the youngest in Premier League history. They’re currently ahead of David O’Leary’s Leeds who finished third in 2000 with an average starting XI aged 24 years and 162 days."

Yeah, US and Canada will as well but next Sunday instead.

Thank you, I hate it when we start changing clocks willy nilly. I'm CDN employed by an US firm but I communicate with employees all over the world and it's always a freak show when the clocks start randomly changing in some countries but not others.

It's one big mess I agree.

I just saw that Arsenal put out a graphic today letting us know local kick off times - starts at 09:30 for Los Angeles to 05:30 for Auckland NZ.

I am worried about today. Not having Saka, Timber and Calafiori and with Saliba suspended (and still no Øde) is making for a worrying line-up against a very resurgent Liverpool side.

By biggest concern is the lack of creativity that we have in the middle of the park.

I really can't understand why Arteta has still not given a chance to Nwaneri despite supposedly being the backup to Øde.

He should have played either the Bournemouth or Shakhtar games (or even both) to really see what he is capable of doing over the course of 90 mins and see whether he has it in him to play Liverpool.

There's no point in promoting him if you are not going to play him and gradually make him a full part of the team.

It will be very interesting to see who Arteta will have have selected for this afternoon.

It's not impossible to play for a draw (or even win) but this will need some shrewd thinking and tactics from Arteta as Liverpool will be here to win today. If we do draw, this will suit PGMOL's paymasters considering that Cheaty are at the top of the table. But if we play like we played vs Shakhtar, we are going to have a very long afternoon.

Looks like Saka and Timber are with the team so we'll know soon enough what our lineup will be like. Both massive players obviously.

Expand full comment

Even if Saka and Timber are in the team, how much help can players returning from muscular injuries give you? They can’t be anywhere close to their best, maybe 50-60%.

At best they will get some minutes on their way back.

Whatever we do today will have to be without them.

Expand full comment

If they start, that'd mean they are 90% and upwards ready.

Expand full comment

There’s no such thing as 90% for any player returning back from injury, especially muscle injuries

They will get some minutes and told not to go over the top while they continue their return

Don’t gas up yourself with too much hopium

Expand full comment

That's not really up to you to guess. If they start that'd be more than some minutes. It would mean they are near 100%.

Again, it depends if they start or not.

Gooner twitter -

"Declan Rice will make his 250th Premier League appearance against Liverpool today. This makes him the sixth-youngest player to reach the mark at 25 years, 287 days, and the youngest since Raheem Sterling in March 2020 at 25 years, 91 days"

I see this as a major red flag for this lad

He has crazy mileage on his engine, he reminds me of Alex Sanchez

He’s why I would keep Partey on one year deals; rotate Rice and Partey as #6.

From the look of things Ssesko will prefer Barca now.

Expand full comment

Barca can't afford Sesko. Why they're playing the kids.

And, old-man Lewandoski bagged a brace yesterday. He's not going anywhere.

More stale than week-old bread Sid.

Expand full comment

We didn’t deliberately not buy a forward or a winger. We couldn’t get the right one at the right price. Sterling was a a compromise because we could have him at a ridiculously low price for a year.

We tried to buy Sesko but he opted stay. We enquired about Williams but he wanted Barca or stay put. Isak wasn’t available.

In the background PSR had now moved to its most dangerous point so far and we had stretched the limits last season.

It’s no good forgetting the context now and moaning about the TW and what we should have done when we couldn’t anyway.

Expand full comment

Isak's injury prone and last season scored a bunch but 5 of those were from pens so yeah. I wouldn't base my team around him that's for sure. I'm very glad we haven't gotten him but it's not like Jesus is better either. Dropping a huge chunk on him would limit us financially like Declan did except Rice is always available and one of the best in the world so you know what you're getting.

I, personally, hate the start-stop-start-stop of injury prone players like Isak. He's playing for 5, then injured for 5, then plays for 5 again, rinse and repeat... I hate it. I also think he's lightweight and not a real warrior aka shies from duels. Not sure he fits what we've seen Arteta go for.

Expand full comment

I don’t think Isak would have been the right move either but his name was one of the few who were linked. Biggest problem was the chronic shortage of available forwards and hence the prices were unacceptable.

Expand full comment

But you think Sesko would be eh?

Expand full comment

No I genuinely don’t know who would be. The whole TW was underwhelming in terms of who was available. Only Mbappe was the exception - he was not a possibility for us and RM fans might be questioning him after this weekend.

Sesko could be but very inexperienced and needs to do more to convince. He does have great potential.

I’m merely saying these were the strikers we were either heavily linked to or reportedly made bids for.

It’s only really the Championship Manager players moaning about lack of signings.

What are you, 5 years old? Why don’t you just try to have a discussion, whether you agree or not, rather than trying to be continually rude? as I said, PSR was a major problem and we were stretched. We couldn’t just pay the price. Not everyone becomes available just because you attempt to pay more.

Joke Saturday

Names have become outrageous these days. Like, I was playing golf last week when someone added to our group introduced himself as "Jathan." Not Nathan, not Jason. "Jathan."

I'm horrible with names so I kept repeating it so it would stick in my head.

"Nice to meet you, Jathan. Let's have a great round, Jathan."

********

The guy just glares at me for a second and replies, "Wow. Are you theriouth right now?"

Wow what a game.

This Barca coach is definitely not a small margins coach.

But he must have been at Barca for 6 years because no way you can set up your team to play so well without spending years on the job and changing the squad.

Needed to be posted again. Because suddenly all his has beens and pet projects train very well but our academy guys never seem to.

Fabio Viera played until he was loaned out even though many of us saw that he couldn't hack it on time. He must be perfect in the training ground

they will both play, you can bet on it.

It's admirable that the first half of the el clasico has a single yellow card.

An English ref would have given 5 yellows and 1 red.

They can't resist being the object of attention in big matches.
