Great article Peds but the whole trophy or no trophy progress debate that rages on here every single day is tedious as fuck. The only context people need to remember is that we have not won the Premier League in over 20 years now and we have won the Champion's league never.
So stamping your feet and demanding that we do so is like a petulant little child demanding an I-phone .. because I'm big now, I'm big now. These same people if we did happen to win a domestic Cup trophy like we did Teta's first season or many times under Wenger would dismiss that as irrelevant. So I think this circular debate is just about useless halfway thru the season when results are not even in. Where Pedro does himself no favors is the constant hyperbole in calling Teta a generational or top 5 talent.. to be a generational manager you have to win one of the two big trophies and that is the bottom line.
Stats and contextualizing mean nothing if there is zero trophy to show for it. Just win; a damn trophy is all fans deserve (there are multiple on offer; surely the team has reached a point to win one). Almost counts for nothing. Fuck that. At this point, I don't care how boring the football is as long as it gets us a trophy. Also, we get it; Arteta has done great. So what's next? Trophies. Where are those??? Saying or thinking that AFC are competing on all 4 fronts is a guarantee that AFC will miss out on all!
Mikel needs to prioritize, playing your best players in every competition is a sure fire recipe for an injury crisis.

Also, Slot came into a very good situation, players who have won things at all levels, including your keeper, cb, and superstar up top who is in blazing form. If Mikel had this squad would he be doing as well as Slot, for sure 100%, well, maybe 99%.

Those signings were very short sighted and turned out to tie the very hands that are needed to get top talent to AFC.
We need today, support for both our cb's, only one we have is Kiwior, and he is probably out the door in the next two transfer windows.
Who are our squad players to our lb or rb, Tomi and Zinc are not it, White will not be back for a while, and no Timber is not a back up lb when he plays rb.
We need squad players for Ode and Partey, silence.
We need a back up for Saka, which is by committee, but if one of those guys goes down who is their back up?
The idea that Arteta is sporting director or whatever or whomever the person that is supposed to identify and analyze talent is not looking very visionary or long term, 5 - 10 years.
AFC has some holes, many of our key players will be burnt toast by the end if Arteta does not continue to rotate and get support for them.
Spare a thought for the professional athletes who can’t go out and party like it’s 1999 tonight because they have to work a 2 hour shift tomorrow at 17:30.
