I cannot write more words on Riccardo Calafiori… or can I?
I can.
HE HAS ARRIVED!
It’s official, the sauciest Italian outside of Jorginho has landed in America to be greeted by Mikel Arteta and the boys at a little preseason slide show seminar.
Arteta welcomed him by saying, “Welcome Home,” and I really liked that.
The player has been on our radar much longer than he’s been on the fans’. We had him over for the 5-0 win against Palace back in January. A sexy game to observe, you have to say. Edu seems to have been leading conversations, and the player seems to have loved what he was hearing.
“I spoke a lot with the coach, with Edu, and they convinced me, but I was already convinced by myself. I think it’s the best project for me for the next years, and I think I will improve as a player and I hope we’re also going to win trophies.”
INJECT IT RIGHT INTO MY VEINS. It was only a few years ago people openly mocked me for suggesting Arteta had sauce. Well, now the club has it, and let me tell you: It’s really spicy. None of this Mustafi Mayo, this is unadulterated Holloway Road kebab shop hot sauce, and I am here for it.
Arteta was definitely warm to the player.
“Riccardo is a big personality and character, with specific skills that will make us stronger as we push to win major trophies. He has already shown great development in recent seasons with his performances for both Bologna and Italy, with his progression and development in the past year being really impressive. We’re looking forward to working with Riccardo, integrating him into the squad, and supporting him in the years to come.”
