Excellent Peter.

Those who understood the task in hand that Arteta inherited stood steadfastly by him in the difficult moments. Thankfully our owners and directors were amongst them.

What type of pubs do some of you go to where people turn to violence over different opinions? Some of you live in 80s/early90s and need to detox the hooliganism from your system.

Oh lord. Now Sid gets the vapors: 'Save us from violence on the internet!'

Don't be such a pussy Sid.

If the midgets who post the same opinion-- sometimes, two and three times every post-- found a way to mix in some actual knowledge or insight...

Instead it's 300 words rearranged to say the exact same drivel.

That's not 'a difference of opinion'. It's trolling.

In the insane world of football pay checks it’s hard to understand how he only gets £15m a year. That’s less than some of our players. If I were him I’d ask for 1 million a week just out of principle!

Well maybe 500k. But thinking about it who knows what bonuses are included could potentially be around that number if all goes well

This article encapsulates what I hate about the hypocrisy and dual faced nature of English media and society as a whole. How can a person only get triggered at a loan system that’s been going on longer than I’ve been on the planet when it comes to Arsenal and Sterling. I mean this is crazy. Imagine this hypocritical muppet. No wonder newspapers are dying

After sifting through all the media junk reporting I came to the conclusion that since Chelsea being a clown show had to find a solution and are basically willing to pay 10mill so that Sterling can play for Arsenal so that he is of their books. For me this is a pure accounting move being disguised by all kinds of spin. Did Arsenal come out on top of this, I believe so, especially since we have these injuries.

Arteta: “Raheem wants to prove a point”

This is why I am so happy that we have Raheem on board.

The geezer has a point to prove and he will fight for us.

Arsenal commiting itself to a manager for eight years and not once has he exceeded expectations, what joyous news. I hoped we would stop being an AKB club when Wenger left but all we've done is swap the A and let manager do whatever he wants with no pressure to win anything. It's all vibes, no focus on winning trophies.

If you haven't taken any joy from the journey Arsenal has been on, I pity you. There is no point in supporting a club if you can't feel something for what Arteta has done.

Arteta has done sweet fa, Pedro. He was massive failure his first two seasons, he should have been fired after the first eighteen months for incompetence, and the kroenkes have had to replace our entire starting xi for tets when he took over a team that were European finalists.

You really are a clueless idiot

Everyone is entitled to have an opinion... but objectively, this is one of the least serious you can have when assessing Arteta's tenure against a team that is about to go into a hearing for 115 charges. You won't find a football exec in the world that would share your view. It's internet bravado. If you said that in a bar to your mates, they'd send you home with a straight red card. You'd get an extended ban on review.

Superficial drivel.

Mate, he started from scratch and has taken us to be 2nd twice in a row.

And that's against the biggest and best playing cheats in the league.

The best is to come.

Patience and hard work will be rewarded.

Arteta inherited a club that were European finalists six months before he took over, in which way was he "starting from scratch"?

Expand full comment

Just check if Arteta has won the Premier League Manager of the Season trophy and that tells you all what his finishing twice 2nd is worth.

Google the definition of the Peter Principle and you find out that a person promoted to a position may not be incompetent but the position requires different skills than those that the person possesses. Applying the Peter Principle to Arteta he has reached his potential by finishing 2nd and the odd place in cup knockout stages but does not have the skills to become Manager of the season by winning.

MG42, if you're applying a principle to Mikel Arteta that says he's not the right man for the job... it's the wrong principle.

The trouble with people who comment like this... they never have any ideas of their own. Banging the table making demands if you can't tell us what your plan would be against a team with double the wage bill, that is about to have 115 charges heard, then you are just making noise that looks like attention seeking.

Expand full comment

City's 115 charges don't prevent us from making smart decisions in the TW nor identifying world class talent or identifying what is needed in the squad. In those 3 areas Arteta has been left wanting.

1. Attacking talent. Jesus was not the answer and will go down as a poor signing. Eddie's contract extension was poor also and we only made some profit because he was an academy product. Havertz is NOT a £65mil player. He is effective in the German national team because of the position he plays, but we have Ode in that position. Every club knows now that we are needing a CF. How come City could get Alvarez for £17mil?

2. Arteta devalued Guen's valuation he buys players that are shining on the world stage, where are the players that are talented but yet are not in the limelight yet and therefore are expensive. Jan 2022 Arteta passed on Bruno G. for £40mil.

3. If at the end of the season Pool finishes above us, Slot having spent a pittance in the summer, will put the argument about Arteta failing in his 1st 3 years to rest. If Emery would have received the financial backing that Arteta received there would not have been a need to hire him.

I know you will defend Arteta till the very end and will only admit to yourself his failings but after the hundreds of millions spent and still needing attackers and backup for midfield and winger positions, for me he fits the Peter Principle perfectly. For the supporters and club's sake I wish I would be wrong but I seriously doubt that and one of us will be proven wrong in May.

Please do not use the excuse of the early injuries for failure to secure trophies and unless we produce them then the Sakas, Salibas and Rices will leave the club for the lack of winning trophies and squad rebuild starts all over again.

I have taken the joy from the place we are, but I believe in exactly next three years we should go a step higher. And if we don't do, then it's going to mean we reached the ceiling of current setup and started to plateau.

Pedro trolling hard with the title of the post. 😂

I am happy that Arteta has resigned. It's clear that he loves the club and doing his all to get where we want to be.

Is he flawed? He certainly is.

But you can't fault his desire to be at the top.

You can see that he wears our motto on his sleeve. There is no denying that.

Looking forward to seeing Arteta lift a trophy as a deserved pay off for all his hard work.

Oh the irony in the English language between signing and resigning.

Many of us would have rejoiced if Arteta would have resigned, as in exiting the club, rather than signing on for another tortuous 3 years of generational failure.

We are on the up and no matter how distateful that is to some, we will remain there.

Arteta hasn't been perfect but he's learning the rope and edging towards being elitist.

No one is arguing that he hasn't made errors but the signs make for elation.

We expect him to start adding trophies and so shall it be.

Well said Pedro, he’s done a great job thus far. Credit to the hierarchy for backing him too. The latter-day Wenger years were tough, I doubt that many saw us being in the position we are now back then. We’re a proper football club again, organised and competitive.
