I’m in Paris for the Olympics. Have tickets for the diving tomorrow morning!

But this opening ceremony might as well be renamed to the DEI ceremony Jesus H Christ.

Having to explain to my 7 year old wtf is going on when they are pushing trans threesomes and bearded men doing sexualised dancing in corsets is frankly pathetic.

I always say it how I feel it. Merino is not an exciting signing.

Are we stronger with him than we were last season? Yes. And that's probably why we want him. Upgrade is an upgrade.

But don't tell me it isn't hard to upgrade when Kai is now officially a CF (predicted it with ease 12 months ago) so we basically played a full season with a CF as makeshift LCM and a weird Jorgi-Rice midfield duo.

It's weird we didn't win the league when in 23/24 we had the best CB pair, the best DM, the best RW and the best CF in the league.

Sadly, our left flank - LB, LCM and LW, never formed any kind of understanding and the likes of Zina and Martinelli had tough, tough seasons.

Merino is the guy to correct that but is he a better player than Xhaka? At best, he's a better quality when defending and comparable quality when attacking.

I'm hearing Fabian Ruiz as well but Merino looks like the way more mentioned name, including just now by teamnewsandtix and Fab Romano.

I'm not sure we've done enough if our only midfield signing is Merino.

We've moved from Bruno G, Douglas Luiz and João Nerves, to Mikel Merino...

Bruno is a Newcastle quality and Douglas is villa quality. Merino is the arsenal quality. ARTETA KNOWS BEST.

Nothing too conclusive about pre season games, particularly when the team is made up of a hotchpotch of first team and academy players.

For the youngsters it must be a surreal experience to play with first teamers but one can’t help but feel that these are commercial and training exercises first and foremost.

Calafiori will hopefully be flying out there right about now and we’ll see him get assessed and integrated in the training ground pictures in the next week.

Sad to see ESR go but happy that he’s going to Fulham, a club I’ve always had a soft spot for. It feels like all parties are getting a good deal. £35m is a decent chunk of change all things considered and regardless of what the whiners might choose to say, another great success for the Academy. You know that if and when he scores against Arsenal, he’ll be respectfully restrained in his celebrations. Best of luck!

I’m not happy about it Rich

He’s top quality. Will take a lot of money to replace a player with such ability

For me he’s top 5 in the world in his age bracket

Can’t think of too many better

So much hate for nketiah as per usual for youth team players. But he was twice the player that Jesus was when he came on and everyone went silent. Nelson more lively with tricks and skills that martineli can only dream of, but he is from our youth team so let's get rid of him.

What a bunch of waffling. Nelson barely has enough PL starts. Martinelli at his best had a 15 goal PL season from the wing. Jesus is twice the player of Nketiah. Just because they are hale enders, it doesn't mean they are good enough. Saka is. Not them. And we keep quality players instead of who is home grown and who isn't.

There is nothing to suggest that Jesus was better than nketiah in the last 12 months. Say whatever you want to say. He is certainly not better than him in the game in review which was the basis of my comment. Tell me something that Jesus did better in the game before you start cursing. Martineli scored 15 goals last season or when? When was the last time he dribbled past any defender. He is in the team based on reputation and expectation. He is playing without any clear idea of what he wants to do. But he is regarded as World class winger on this site. He has become so boring and predictable. I'll like to see Nelson given such amount of play time and see the result.

I wanted ESR to go. Because it was the best thing for both us and him. And the fee is exactly what I would expect for a talent like him. Still, It doesn't make it any less sad though. I had hoped he would succeed here. It is the first player I gave a shit about leaving since Sanchez.

ESR to Fulham is probably the best sale of the Emirates era. £35m of pure profit for a guy who hasn't scored a goal in 2 years. No one can criticise this deal. It's the biggest sale in the history of Arsenal ffs.
