Osimhen having a bad rep is such a dishonest take bothering on abetment to racism, which was the crime Napoli comitted that soured their relationship.

Osimhen has had an excellent rep all through his older clubs and is probably currently enjoying the best player-fans relationship world football has seen in the recent past. He's humble, level headed and a good boy who does charity back home in Nigeria as well (he did fall out with the super eagles ex coach Finidi George but has since apologised).

More importantly he's in his prime and is currently a level or 2 above any strikers we can attain this January or in the summer including Sesko.

If we are serious about contending for the league, Osimhen or Isak are the strikers we'll be targeting. Sesko is not ready and nothing says he'll bang in 2 years when he'll be ready. Much more importantly, this project doesn't have 2 years to wait. Unless they'd sack Arteta I'd be happy to rebuild with a new coach instead. Arteta can not be allowed to rebuild again without consequences. He's failed twice already.

PS: laughing at the possible sack of Ange (which is a real possibility at this point ans rightly so) but he's not done worse than Arteta did in his first 2 years at the club and we persisted with him. What sort of club does that make us? Answers on a post card

Hold up. What racism? Are you talking about the same Osimhen that blasted his own national team coach in public? Stop that racism crap. Dude comes across as a hot head and a big mouth. He also isn’t as prolific as his mouth and ego may wanna think. Scoring in the Turkish league doesn’t make you prime Harry Kane

Crazy that you don't know what Napoli did to Victor but you know that he "blasted his national team coach in public".

Did I mention anything about Napoli? Why are you showing goal posts

Cala back in training.

I wonder if he will be able to stay fit for for more than two games?

There's already a pattern. He'll be out again. Tomi MK 2

Calafiori and Nwaneri in training is a nice shot in the arm. Guess Ben White and Tomi will not be seen until the spring. Crazy season for real

TT and Ben White both ‘training on grass’ so hopefully not too far away.

Great to see Calafiori and Nwaneri back available.

Calafiori is another Tomi. Can't even string 2 games in a row without injury. Is he just constantly being rushed back? WTF is up with him? Shambolic transfer.

I’m happy that he’s available.

Sesko AND Cunha this window.... Come on Jay, make it happen.

Arsenal needs someone to lead the club into a golden era. Declare the injuries a state of emergency. Arsenal funds cannot be used to enrich the likes if Chelsea(Kai,Sterling ) and Man c( Jesus, Zinky) while fans are suffering.

If we don’t sign anybody up front this window then we must know the club have written off the title bid. Obviously a fair few on here already have, tbf.

The one glaring point is there was opportunity pre season to build potent competition up front, this wasn’t done. Whatever our views of Eddie it did give at least some options. The forward line didn’t necessarily need a Haaland megabuy just a hungry player willing to learn and do the hard yards. Sadly we chose to buy an injury hit defender and an average midfielder

The only target we had was Sesko. The moment Leipzig said no the club just sat on their hands. There was zero plan B or C for another striker. It was Sesko or nothing.

The stupid thing is we are going to end up paying more for him anyway this summer. So why not get this done now to start getting him blooded in?

I have a feeling though that we may have a gentleman's agreement to allow to continue his development and buy him this summer anyway.

So not sure if we end up doing anything re a CF this TW anyway.

Mbuemo or Cunha fit what we're trying to assemble-- both in the short term regarding this season-- and over the longer haul.

how about both

Osimhen has 14 goals and 6 assists in 18 (Ligue + Europa League) games. Kai has 13 goals and 3 assists in 29.

Galatasaray fans say that he's just a level above everyone else there and he probably just landed there because Napoli owner overplayed his hand in summer. He definitely has the sauce, the confidence and the ability to pull out goals out of nowhere.

I don't think we can sniff at such a player. My only concern (and the serious one) is the load of money that has to be paid to get him out of Galatasaray in addition to money to Napoli. However, I don't doubt his output.

LA Rams winning the Super Bowl. What will Arsenal win?

Yep Sid...I agree...

What will Arsenal win? and When will we win it?

I think Stan and Josh (as savvy investors in the real estate sector) take a very long view.

And for all those readers who believe that Mikel will soon be replaced if he doesn't succeed...take a look at what Kroenke Sports & Entertainment has done with the LA Rams in the NFL. They hired a 30 year old former offensive coordinator and made him the Head Coach...Sean McVay. He became the youngest NFL Head Coach in history. They backed him and he took them to the Super Bowl 4 years after be became Head Coach (They lost). But, they won the Super Bowl the next year. They've been in and out of the playoffs too.

The parallels to Mikel are numerous (age, no prior experience as Head Coach, etc)...and it looks like KSE is going to keep Mikel for quite a while...his contract is until 2027.

But, can Mikel learn from his shortcomings? Can he improve?

Fascinating times we're in.

The biggest question for me has been, now that we've seen the blind spots that Arteta has shown us in the past 5 years, is he learning from them?

Pedro good break down.

However, the starting 11 will be messed up with Mike and his love in for Kai.

Will he put Kai on the bench? I hope he does if we get a proper striker. Fitting Kai has had disastrous consequences shifting the line ups in the way he likes to do.

Merino doesn’t align with the clubs strategy at all yet we signed him because Teta pushed for him. We need the same energy for the front line

Interesting article about Haaland contract and why it makes sense financially for mancheaty to commit for so long.

--------

“Our models suggest that a world’s top-10 striker or winger is worth around five points a season over an average Premier League starter, the biggest gap of all positions,” Chaudhuri says. “But the drop off isn’t as steep as the prices paid for players might suggest. Top central midfielders are worth about 4.5 points over an average Premier League starter. And centre-backs and full-backs between three and four points.”

That might sound absurd. But think of it this way: last season City finished on 91 points, 43 points clear of Brighton, who were 11th. That’s less than four points per starting player on average."

Feels like we need Wissa than Mbuemo. Someone that can do striker things like strike the ball on target, hold the ball and actually try and have presence in the box for a cross.

Mbuemo on the right any day of the week for me.
