AUBA OFFERED EXIT + ARTETA WILL BITE AND SCRATCH FOR ARSENAL

by .

Things are NOT looking good for Auba. Man has shamed his nation with his elitist behaviour. The partying pre-AFCON, the COVID likely because of the partying, and the strong rumours from Gabonese media that the player got totes wasted and had a fight with security at the team hotel when he brought babes back.

Not cool.

Still, goals are the prime currency in football, so hopefully someone comes in with a deal for him this January. CBS is reporting that there’s an offer from Saudi to take over his contract. That’d be epic, though a little sad, because that really is a retirement deal.

Any exit leaves us short.

Still no links.

So let’s see where we go there, there’s just no way we trimmed our squad this hard if we don’t have something lined up. The presser today would indicate we’re not looking to make junior players senior with return loans.

Arteta did his pre-game presser and basically said that Arsenal has been honest. He intimated that other clubs have not been honest (Liverpool). He also said that he would fight with nails and teeth to defend the honour of the club from those that are lying about us. I do like his aggressive approach when he talks about the club, he’s always reinforcing that we are massive, that hypes the fans. Matt on the podcast said we’re moving away from the victim culture Wenger allowed in the backdoor. No complaining, no excuses, we’re moving forward and no one can stop us.

Juxtapose that against the Thomas Tuchl presser last night where he was snappy, whiny, and full of excuses. Can you imagine being the Chelsea manager and complaining about your massive squad being mentally fatigued? His body language was horrendous. I wrote at the start of the season that Thomas is very good at being good when things are good… when the pressure arrives, he starts throwing elbows. Just look at how he spoke about Lukaku at the weekend? The fans that were clutching their pearls when Arteta criticised Nico weren’t anywhere to be seen when the veteran Tuchel threw his £100m striker under the bus.

Liverpool is in the media saying that Arsenal are favourites in the second leg of the league cup. Honestly, they can fuck off with views like that. They are the favourites by a margin and we all know it. The important point for Arsenal fans is that we are not a million to one to get binned. If the fans show up, the players play at 100, and the luck rolls our way… who knows what could happen.

I just want to see another performance where we leave it all on the table.

Arteta wants the fans to put on a performance.

“The [fans] are able to change the energy, the momentum of the game, give a massive lift to the players and give them confidence so if they can drive the team the way they have been doing recently, that would be incredibly helpful to give us the best possible chance to get in the final,” Arteta said.

“When you have your people next to you, and the way they have been, how encouraging, supportive, loud, it really creates a bond with the team and makes a huge difference.

“It is one of the best atmospheres I’ve seen for many, many years at the Emirates and I’ve been in a few of those so I can just thank the fans for their support that they are giving the team.

Clearly, he knows what The Kop atmosphere gives the Liverpool players. One of his big ambitions when joining the club was to get the fans back on side. Well, he’s done that, home and away, win or lose, the Arsenal fans have been magnifico this season and there’s no chance that’ll stop tomorrow.

If you’re going, bring your BIG voice.

Ok, we are SHORT on content today, so I’ll see you in the comments. x

I must be fair to Arteta he is instilling an espirit de corps amongst the boys and fans.
Would like to see some activity in the market, however.
Defeat for that horrible club tonight and victory for us tomorrow, wiould be great.
Also how impressive were Brighton last night, until they got to the final third?I think Mr Potter will be on a lot of clubs wish list now.

One of the best Arsenal wins that I remember very clearly is visiting Bolton, trailing by 2 goals and a man down at half time. I believed in our team so much that during the half time break, I went to the local bookie and put money on an Arsenal comeback win. We scored the winning goal in the added time of the game. Cesc celebrating the winner was literally me at home. I miss that passion. Our 2008/09 team deserved to win the EPL, we just cracked in the deciding moments of the title fight (and Eduardo’s injury).

Now being reported that the Saudi club Want PEA on loan with an obligation to buy for 8m at the end of the season. Sounds a decent deal for us but we do need a striker in, even if it’s on loan. Eddie is as useful as a chocolate teapot.

The cesc throwback earlier was classic. I started supporting arsenal around 2008/2009 and cesc was my first football hero. Absolutely magnificent player with an attitude ozil would kill for. Till this day i’m biased towards cm like that. My top 3 cms of all time.

Luteo Guenreira

Just watched clip of that Bolton game. Cesc and RVP were the last two truly generational players we had at Arsenal. Some good players have passed by since then but those two were just a cut above.

Graham

The Atlantic story is about a yellow card Xhaxa received. It’s the referee being investigated as they are under strict instructions to give GX a straight red every time he commits a foul. So the yellow (and the fact some people put money on GX surviving a game without being sent off at some pretty long odds) is causing a lot of suspicion.

Graham

Athletic sorry not Atlantic.

Samesong,
Stunning return for the King.

The game vs Sunderland was a dramatic one.
Mertesacker fell down injured like a sack of potatoes unchallenged, giving the Black Cats the lead in the 70th minute.
Per’s substitute – a certain Aaron Ramsey, scored within 5 mins of his introduction laying the foundations of what was such a memorable final goal for TH14. Scored in the 91st minute, he did his thing one last time. Van Persie loved the guy I guess.

Luteo,

Congrats. Bankz has done a Wenger. Used to be so reliable at getting the Tr4phy but now he’s more of a Big 6 performer.

Rich

Saka is potentially world class, I don’t think we’ve scratched the surface of his overall potential, he won’t stop scoring now, goals will become a regular aspect of his game

Cazorla was a joy to watch, brilliant footballer

Alexis was electric for 2.5 seasons, before beginning to fizzle out

Many are underestimating Odegaard’s potential, he’s obviously still got it all to do, but he’s the real deal, there’s a very good chance he’ll develop into an elite attacking midfielder over the next 12-18 months

WengerEagle

Raul

Not inferior, just not as well suited for that peak Barcelona side.

Like I said, imo Iniesta doesn’t do as well as Cesc for us in the PL, you left that part out!

WengerEagle

No shame in being 2nd best to Iniesta as an overall midfielder either.

In my lifetime it’s Zidane, Iniesta, Xavi as the three greatest midfielders and then you have in the next elite tier the likes of Fabregas, Alonso, Kroos, Modric.

raptora

I’m so pissed off that we go back to a time when we played some stunning football, Wenger’s love child probably as that team was entirely his, yet we got nothing to show for it. Fantastic moments but zero trophies. Just 1 single EPL and that whole generation would have been remembered so well. Now we remember them like almost greats.

Mb

Graham

Makes sense 😂

WengerEagle

Zidane won everything with France and took them almost by himself to a 2nd WC title. Also won the CL with Real.

Xavi and Iniesta literally dominated football from 2008-2012, won x2 Euros, the World Cup, x2 CL titles and x3 league titles. Took a miracle effort in the SF from both Inter Milan and Chelsea to prevent that Barca side winning 4 straight CL titles.

Dissenter

You don’t need an investigation to figure out why people would bet on Xhaka being carded. A goal will always bleat, Xhaka will always do things that makes it easy for refs to caution him.

I just wish the better story was made clearer because the Athletic ran it in a way that cast a pall of suspicion over Arsenal.

RVP the season before he went to United was special. Even though we just scraped top 4 that season, the way he, Song, a budding Wilshere and Tets carried us. Benayoun was also with us that season if I recall correctly. Scored in the last game and Gibbs pulling off a last ditch stop that would have drawn the game giving spurs the champions league spot

Pierre willing to rewrite history and throw Ramsey under the bus to save his boy Ozil as the main reason why Cesc didn’t return to us. Nothing new here.

“When I decided that my time at Barcelona had ended, I looked for the best option for me,” Fàbregas explained. “Arsenal was the first option, for contractual reasons. There was a clause that gave them the right to decide. We spoke to Wenger and he said that the space was very well filled by Mesut Özil and it was hard to find a place for both of us in the team.”

We could have totally afforded the 30m Barcelona was asking – Wenger paid 18m for Chambers, 18m for Welbeck, 13m Debuchy, 13m for Gabriel Paulista. Just 2 of the absolute averageness these players represent, and we would have had a Summer window of Alexis and Cesc joining us – both absolute top class players. Could have won more than FA Cups imo.

I leave you to blame Ramsey for a transfer Wenger never wanted to happen. Sounds good to me.

Wenger would have taken Fabregas back if he was returning as a free transfer
He took back Flamini who’s exit was contentious too.
We had the first refusal, which meant we may have had to engage in a bidding war with Chelsea, depending on how the contract was written.

In fairness to Wenger, Arsenal may not have been able to bring back a player who forced his way out in a manner that made it impossible for us to get peak transfer fees for him … to profit Barca.

Wenger definitely liked Cesc, that much is clear.

As WE said earlier, Iniesta wouldn’t have been as good for Arsenal as Cesc, and Cesc wasnt’as good as Iniesta for Barca.

Iniesta was better at controlling games, putting constant pressure on teams with his constant moving and passing, one-twos, short dribbles.

Cesc was a better fit for the physicality of the EPL and his final ball was above Iniesta’s. He could also carry a whole team of older players on his back at a very young age, Iniesta always had the likes of Xavi and Messi to share the responsibility at Barca.

This is exactly what a story about and “un-named Arsenal player being investigated” does
Divide the fanbase and cause divisions in the camp

I don’t want to have a debate but the way you broke that down it makes it look like there’s a huge gap between them but I don’t see it at all.

Iniesta was the better dribbler but Cesc was the passmaster. Iniesta benefitted from a great system, players and longevity playing for the one team, but he wasn’t better for me.

Dissenter

There shouldn’t be any debate about Cesc vs Iniesta
They played for the same team and it was quickly apparent that they aren’t the same type of player. They got Cesc thinking hw would take over the mantle from Iniesta but they quickly realized that wasn’t going to happen.
