What absolutely batshit crazy few weeks it has been.

In the end, ignoring the circus around Arsenal, the transfer window was pretty decent.

We signed 6 players.

  • Lokonga > Ceballos
  • Odegaard > Ozil
  • Ramsdale > Runarsson
  • White > Luiz
  • Tavares > Xhaka (LB)
  • Tomiyasu > Bellerin

It’s weird to sign that many players and not feel on top of the world. Most Arsenal fans are sad. Each signing is an improvement, all of them are young, and we’ve moved on some drossy deadwood. But I think the main issue we all have is… can you trust a system that has so consistently let us down?

The signings certainly aren’t for the next 3 months, they’re for the next three years. The hope is that each one of those players bangs, but we know that rarely happens. Whatever the football scenario is, one thing we do know is that the next coach is NOT inheriting a bag of shite. Yep, I’m sad, but I like the squad, I really do.

You have to look at the players holistically and sprinkle a lot of hope on potential outcomes.

What didn’t we have last season?

Auba dropping 25 goals. Everything needs to be geared around moving the needle there.

We’re still yet to have a decent run of Thomas Partey, easily our best midfielder. Historically, he’s fit, we need him to get back to what he is.

We haven’t had a settled defence, despite having the 3rd best in the league. Logic would say better technicians make the defence better.

We haven’t had an in-form keeper since Emi Martinez left us. Ramsdale after the break could be that guy.

Hope, hope, hope.

Lots of things have to go right in the next 1 month to save this Mikel Arteta shit show. To my mind, he’s dead even if he wins 10 games on the bounce. He has soured his relationship with the base badly this summer. As Matt said on the podcast, don’t treat an Arsenal supporting Hale-Ender like shit, or you’ll feel the full force of the fanbase.

What can’t be denied is that it’s pretty much nailed on we will be better after the break, in spite of Mikel Arteta. We’ll have better players in a system that we know can be decent, and the mood will shift. I’m sure Arsenal will have some behind closed doors games this week to get certain players back to match fitness. Our new right back needs to hit the ground running, Ben White needs to get his bearings with Gabriel, we need Thomas Party in unrusty shape. No way Arsenal roll the dice on a fast Norwich start.

As for the last day of the window? What a mess.

The Ainsley thing is utter madness. We tried to push him out, he blew shit up on social, now there have been clear the air talks with Arteta and he’s part of the plan and valued? Imagine being Ains. What a nightmare.

Willian hated the project so much he passed on £20m. Good for him. But shame on his agent is dragging Arteta in the media. Even worse that he’s dragging the transfer strategy. He’s either saying Arteta is a fraud and has too much power… which makes Edu redundant. Or, he’s suggesting his client has poor taste in players, which we know to be true, based on signing two of Kia’s boys. Either way, this reeks of your mum telling off the kid who bullies you at school. Not a good look for either party. Wouldn’t happen at a club with leadership.

Reiss took a loan to Feyenoord, which is good news for him. He needs a shot of confidence and some love from a coach that sees the potential. He also needs to ground himself. He has the talent, now he needs to shine otherwise it’s League 1 for him.

Eddie didn’t move to Palace, which is a disaster for him personally. I like the player, he’s very talented, but he’s not getting minutes this season… but where is the clarity? Who is 3rd choice striker, Folarin or Eddie? Both share the same agent. Utterly incoherent planning.

‘Flipping burgers and yachting while Colney burned’ would be a fair line of attack if Vinai had any courage.

Kola, now a centre back, asked his Turkish suitors for too much money, so he’ll not be getting a squad number this season.

Mo Elneney dodged the window like Messi dodges tackles. Super performance from a player that offers nothing to our midfield.

We still have all the centre backs.

We still have Soares.

Arsenal sold… 1 player. In an entire summer. Isn’t that staggering? We had a whole season to plan exits and only managed one. Unreal. What a black mark against Edu.

So, not really sure where to go now.

I am excited about the unknown qualities of the players we’ve brought in.

I am hopeful for Arteta’s personal picks. Absolutely praying the right-back, and the keeper, are actually good.

I hope the new strategy and the better-scouted players can deliver sooner rather than later.

I hope the older players pick things up.

I hope the younger players go into their new deals and shine.

I hope there are consequences for our farcical leadership.

While you’re here, we did a deadline day special. Watch or listen to it via a podcast application of your choice.

Again, thank you to all the new listeners, we had quite the summer!

See you in the comments.

In his message, Venkatesham said: “Of course, I write this update against the backdrop of a hugely disappointing start to the season. I know how tough this is for all of you, both as supporters and employees, with criticism coming from all angles.

“At times like this it is critical we stick together and stay positive. We have a very important run of games coming up after the international break and I’m confident we can and will come out fighting.”

😂😂 Vinai et al feeling the heat

For anyone who thinks Arsenal can’t get relegated, you should know this is going to be a very strange season in the Premier League. For example, Sean Dyche just signed an African player so really anything can happen now.

  3. China1

Isn’t Ronaldo the first or second highest goal scorer in international history, top scorer in Portuguese history, won a euros, top scorer in a handful of tournaments etc

  4. Nelson

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has tested positive for COVID-19 while on international duty with Switzerland.

WTF! The one non-negotiable Arteta should have is every player should have a vaccine passport.

  5. Words on a blog

If Sean Dyche managed to bring himself to buy an African player, then he’s clearly preparing the ground for the day he fulfills CG’s dream and comes to North London to manage The Arsenal….

  6. Tony

Almunia thanks for the encouragement and another great sketch to start my day as well.

I was thinking that with simple tech (iPhone or Samsung Note using 4k) find a setting close to your described ones and get some Irish mates to play the part. They could be wearing pictures of Arteta & co or if possible you could get rubber ones made. Edit them in a simple editing app. Final Cut Pro was the one I used for video making with color Finale for color grading app, but you probably wouldn’t need to have many effects plug ins.

Film them & then set them up on a You Tube channel. At least your talents would be on show to all.

Either that or find a good cartoonist and start your own version of Punch or Vis selling on line.

You have your own way of writing that is comedic; something very hard to do. You remind me of Bern Elton, but in your own style. Maybe it’s the pace of sketch writing that is similar.

As for my memories? I’ll keep them coming as I remember them. Because of my underlying health issues: coronary arteries, Lungs at 55% and 75% and colon disease in remission, I would not fare well if I caught Covid.

I’ve been stuck at home now for about 2 years barring going to golf with my son. Now it’s battening down the hatches to be safe.

Not the best thing for someone with ADHD.

Fortunately, I have daily contact with friends around the world, but since the Delta version is hitting around 20,000 a day here, I have had to forgo going to golf with my son for the time being, which was something I could do safely when our infections were only in daily double figures.

Eventually, my cabin fever turned into depression mixed with my issues and lack of real contact with people. Anyway, a friend gave me a 1/4 tablet that helps me get 6 to 8 hours sleep and a what I call a happy pill a day that really works well.

As I mentioned previously I used to have 3 to 4 trips a year with my MC brothers and often I’d have MC bros come for an overnight stay when they were riding here up north. That was my cabin fever breaks. Go be with a crazy but highly intelligent group for about a week to 10 days riding and taking pictures and filming rides and charity event rides.

Moving on I’ve always wondered why wealthy people, such as sports people suffer with depression when they have most things in life to make them happy? Now I know.

When I was first offered the tablet I was reluctant more really because I didn’t want to admit to the depression and I had enough tablets each day. I mean I’m the guy who has tripped the light fandango on multiple levels around the work and and I succumbed to a virus giving me depression?

I mean fcuk me it was tough enough trying not to affect people when I was spinning out, but huge feelings of morose thoughts and sleeping less than 4 hours a night, I needed something.

I’ll be honest Almunia my memory isn’t what it was. My son and daughter are always sitting down with me to talk and you’re right the memories do flow.

I’ll do my best to to keep them coming and happy they make decent reading.

I mentioned the depression because of others here that might be similarly affected.

Sorry China1 if it brings back tough memories of your brother. I agonized whether to mention my issues thinking of you, but decided the more people talk, the the more it might help others. I hope you’re ok with this.

There is a funny story to this, though.

When my wife (20 years younger) asked me if i’d taken my 3rd day’s happy pill when I was lying in bed, in the morning. I asked my wife if she was hoping I’d become a Stepford husband. She replied no, of course not, I just want to come back to bad to make you happy.

With that I flipped the sheet and light duvet to one side and said, “Stepford Husband it is then”.

Have a good day Almunia/Grovers. I’m good now having had a month on the meds and luckily with no side effects.

  7. bacaryisgod

Tony-glad you are managing your physical and mental health as best as possible in the circumstances (and I mean Covid not Arsenal-well, a little Arsenal) .

It’s been a brutal last 18 months for a lot of people. and jusr when things seem to be looking up we get hit with another Covid or Covid-variant wave. Hang in there-things will get better, even for Arsenal.

  8. Tony

Thanks Bacary I’m in a really good place with the meds.

I hope people who were.are affected as I was get the right meds because they really do work.

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has tested positive for COVID-19 while on international duty with Switzerland

This comes at a really bad time for Arsenal. It coincides with his suspension, so he is not likely to miss any more games than he already will.

  10. Guns of SF

I mean arent these players vaccinated?
I know you can still get it, but given the robust health of xhaka and others, I find it baffling how often players are catching this…
I know Xhaka is not the sharpest tool in the shed so maybe he was still unmasking and not taking precautions. who knows. Footballers in general are not the brightest

  11. China1

Tony take care of yourself. Sleep is imo the elephant in the room for many people with depression. Obviously there are loads of causes of depression – but frequent poor sleep has unbelievable impacts on brain function and health. I think many people with depression were already not sleeping well (a contributing factor) or the things that are getting to them impact the quality of their sleep compounding the depression. It’s a rubbish circle it really is. My brother was staying up until 4am most nights but getting up at 7am for work. The day he took his life was about 8am in the morning… I seriously seriously doubt he slept at all that night. Everything bar none is worse when you are tired. Even more so when you are absolutely shattered.

Anyway I much prefer to see people talking about it than not. My brother never told us or sought any kind of help and the rest is history…

    So don’t mind me, mate

  12. Sly

Looks like a decent chunk of players are not vaccinated
For the most part they shouldn’t be getting
    Or they’re just asymptomatic

  13. China1

Guns dunno about xhaka but the Newcastle squad are mostly unvaccinated

Bruce was telling that to the media just a week ago that they were ‘waiting to see what they are recommended to do’ with regards to vaccines. They were waiting from guidance from the fucking FA 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

The vaccines have all their test data going on 6-8 months now. Real world data. Daily briefings from gov and health officials.

And the Newcastle players will wait for the FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION for guidance on whether they should get vaccinated

That right there is why this pandemic will never end.

  14. China1

That is also the same Newcastle team that lost a player for about 4 months with really bad long covid last season

The combined brain cells in that squad to still be unvaccinated must be less than 30 I’m telling you

  15. Sly

Mind boggling how dim people are re: vaccinations
Greatest medical breakthrough is the vaccine
We’ve been using this tool for about 5-6 centuries
Eradicated small pox, polio, measles, rubella and the list goes on but folks are more interested in internet hoaxes and old wives folktales lol

  16. China1

One of my cousins back in India turned down the vaccine and got covid shortly after. Thankfully she was ok.

She told me the reason she didn’t take it was because she was worried it would impact the baby if she got pregnant.

    She’s single. She’s 40 years old….

I’d actually get her fears if she was literally pregnant or trying to be but she’s neither. She’s rather risk her health and others in case she gets pregnant in 2 years or something? It’s baffling to me honestly

Like if you’d rather run the risk of catching and spreading a dangerous illness, fine, but I’d hope you’d at least bother to check what medical professionals are saying on the matter rather than put other people at risk just based on some personal doubts you’ve not bothered to look into at all

  17. Sid

    I got covid(not vaccinated)and recovered without hospitalization,
i dont have reservations about the covax vaccine, its the other technologies that have question marks.

Having said that, @China1, did you say your cousin is 40 and single? Is she interested in dark strong stallion?

  18. Sid

Avoid added sugars, vegetable oils, refined flour,
    Get Plenty of physical activities
Eat alot of superherbs like garlic, turmeric, gooseberries, simsim, ginseng
Get a pet or live in a large family.
The city is Not healthy for anyone more so older people.

  19. MD-Gunner

“Most Arsenal fans are sad. Each signing is an improvement, all of them are young, and we’ve moved on some drossy deadwood. ”

That sadness is because the starting 11 has barely changed from last year with White being the ONLY one that can slot readily into the 11. All the other new ones are in backup positions and as you stated from Tomiyasu is an instant success expected.

“But shame on his agent is dragging Arteta in the media. Even worse that he’s dragging the transfer strategy. He’s either saying Arteta is a fraud and has too much power… which makes Edu redundant.”

Yup that agent sums it up perfectly, Arteta is a fraud and Edu is incompetent as you concluded with 1 sale during the TW.

Just to further make the point, Guendouzi earns a call-up to France squad just weeks after leaving the Gunners for Marseille on loan. What does Deschamps see in Guendouzi that Arteta can’t see? Are you and anyone else still opposed to fire Arteta by the latest Oct 2nd?

  20. Kroenkephobe

Hiya mate. Sorry to read about what you’re going through and I hope things start to improve. I assume in Thailand that their vaccination programme is partial and a little bit more haphazard than in Europe. It’s not a solution for everybody but is there not a way to get immunised with the right /best vaccine in a private clinic? Or can you get it via family contacts?

At least you’re surrounded by family and it’s clear from reading between the lines that they think the world of you. Most of us on here are pretty fond of you and your stories too so I hope you take strength from that.

I wouldn’t say I have any specific issues post covid but if I sit and think back a couple of years ago, I’d certainly say that the pandemic has affected me adversely. No one has been spared and I’m far from sure that the full effects have all played out.

The team’ s fortunes are akin to what writers call an objective correlative – they’re shit and it’s conspiring to bring us all down. I see even Almunia got a little ‘down in the dumps’ at the Ireland result yesterday – not seen the game, and not wishing to disparage all Portuguese, but their NT are the kings of snidey, cheating, diving football for me.

  21. Valentin

Newcastle had 2 players affected by long covid: Jamal Lascelles and Saint Maximin.
I don’t understand why they did not ask everyone of their players to be vaccinated as soon as possible.

Same with Arsenal. Especially if you are an international. You will be travelling and meeting people (not just players, but staff, officials, referees), you have no idea whether they behave safely and responsibly.

  22. Sid

“””””””I’ll take a nice talented drug addict as girlfriend over an untalented serial domestic abuser”””””””””

I see the comparison, Aouar instead of Xhakalson…….

  23. Saladin

Can we stop with the “3rd best defense” bullshit. Its a statistical illusion created through a system put in place by the manager where he has all 10 outfield players sit deep into our own half against every damn team in the league, even the ones from the bottom half of the table at Emirates. Doesn’t mean we know how to defend properly as a unit or as individuals.

  24. Bob N16

Respect your openness Tony. As China said, getting a good night’s sleep as important as anything. Glad you’re getting the help you need. Hope Thailand turns a corner soon.

  25. Bob N16

Have to agree Saladin, the third least goals against doesn’t equal third best defence. As you rightly state, if a team is disfunctional further forward it can often be because the balance of the team is wrong. By getting a lot of your team behind the ball, you’ll concede fewer goals but it obviously limits your attacking options/potential.

  26. Graham62

    “3rd best defence”

    What a load of codswallop.

MC could have got ten at the weekend if they’d wanted to.

Ivan Gazidis, Arteta , 3rd best defence……Are you kidding me?

  27. Sid

Setting your team to have a potent attack, is better for the defense than having 10 players sit deep.

There was a time midtable teams would Not dare leave their half because they knew the consequences, thus our defenders were under less pressure.

  28. TR7

“Avoid added sugars, vegetable oils, refined flour,
    Get Plenty of physical activities
Eat alot of super herbs like garlic, turmeric, gooseberries, simsim, ginseng”

This is so so true. Natural herbs and plants can not only cure numerous diseases but also protect us from getting infected. Garlic, carom seeds, ginger, turmeric, fenugreek seeds, cloves, cinnamon, saffron, basil and numerous other natural plants and spices can cure almost 80 to 90 percent of the diseases which exist. It’s a shame that people know so little about natural herbs and medicines and are in complete stranglehold of global pharma nexus.

  29. Sid

Big pharma strategy is to keep you coming back for more of their products, its good for business.
The wonders of natural plants are immeasurable if you make it a lifestyle, not just when you are sick.

  30. kjelli

I think we should add Martin Keown to our coaching staff. Try to lure Erling Haaland to join
and give Ramsdale a start in our next game .. And replace Edu with someone who can
communicate and advise Mikel on team selection.

  31. S Asoa

When Arteta was appointed, Bergkamp and think Adams had offered to help. But guess the FFRAUDTETA was aware he would be exposed, so ignored the offers.
So forget about someone helping Arteta out,. It should be just ArteraOut

  32. Valentin

    S Asoa,

If I were Arteta, I would not want Tony Adams near the coaching staff either. The guy is an Arsenal playing legend, but as a coach he is a walking disaster.

  33. Valentin

I used to write that we don’t defend better, we just defend in number.

Moreover, a lot of the defending was last ditch tackles, hoof the ball clearances, yet it was hailed as tactical masterclass.

It was obvious that the balance of the team was wrong. We were only trying to nick a goal on the counter attack like we were facing peak Barcelona even against teams that we should have swatted without breaking a sweat.

  34. TitsMcgee

Amber Heard as a girlfriend is an improvement on Amy Winehouse”

What’s the story on Heard’s reputation?

Is it because she is rumoured to have faked her abuse at the hands of Johnny Depp? If yes how are we so sure that she faked the allegations? It seems widely accepted that she did it seems with people taking Depp’s side.

  35. Graham62

Was listening to Martin Keown on Saturday during the debacle at MC. We should get him in again.
Didn’t Wenger use him for our 2006 CL run?

To be honest, I’d get Keown and TH14 in together to help out or even run things.

  36. CG

    Bonnie Tyler

“””If Sean Dyche managed to bring himself to buy an African player, then he’s clearly preparing the ground for the day he fulfills CG’s dream and comes to North London to manage The Arsenal….”””

If S. Dyche had been given the £200 000 000 that Arteta has wasted in these journeyman players (with the odd exception) – Arsenal would not be out of Europe and nor would they be bottom of the table without a goal scored.

Dyche wears a blazer, is a natutal manager and has a proven track record with x 2 promotions to the prem with Burnley , all on a miniscule budget.

Maybe his style is too coarse for The Arsenal Luvvies- but we have been playing ‘shit on a stick’ soccer under Arteta and Round for their duration.

Dyche would also not be allowing these Amazon Prime cameras 24/7 – which is another reason why he would never be appointed.

Its KSE ‘Yes Men’ from now on.( eg A&E & Vinny the Wally)

    ps. Great lyrics, for TT.

The Swiss FA have confirmed that Granit Xhaka was not vaccinated against Covid-19 before testing positive for the virus while on international duty………

  38. Moray

“The Swiss FA have confirmed that Granit Xhaka was not vaccinated against Covid-19 before testing positive for the virus while on international duty………”

I bet he’s not insured then.

Is there no discipline at Arsenal? No wonder we seem to have the highest number of COViD cases all the time.

  39. Kroenkephobe

I’m loving the song lyrics too mate.. Maybe we can collaborate in the future on a greatest hits album with Almunia. ‘Takehiro’ was genius.

I was getting a little melancholic this morning about the hopelessness of our manager and the league position he has inflicted upon us. But then I read sone of Sid’s phallocentric musings and I thought hey, the world’s still turning. Keep em coming Sid – your tales of various people’s male genitalia are a welcome respite. Sid – I challenge you to adapt some of Fela’s stuff into an Arsenal tune. Chop and Quench?

  40. Words on a blog

Yeah, a collaboration with you and Almunia sounds promising – “one for the future” as Arsenal would say.

Depp and Heard are dating for 4 years before they get married in 2015.
In 2016 Heard filed for divorce and obtained a temporary restraining order against Depp, saying he physically abused her usually under the influence of alcohol. She said that an incident had recently taken place in which Depp threw his phone at her, leaving her with a bruised face. Police found that no crime had taken place. She showed pictures of her bruises and most people believe that she did that to herself attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse.

Heard received $7 million from the divorce but supposedly donated it to charity, according to People. She also rescinded her spousal support request of $50,000 a month.

In 2017 the divorce is finalized. A non-disparagement clause was inserted into the settlement that prevented either party from saying anything negative about the high-profile relationship and break-up.

Until in 2018 she wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post saying she was abused and that she became a public figure representing domestic abuse and so on.

In 2019 Depp sues her for $50 million for defamation over the said article saying that Heard “is not a victim of domestic abuse, she is a perpetrator” and denying that Depp ever abused her. The suit said that Heard’s allegations were part of an “elaborate hoax to generate positive publicity” for the actress.

Heard referred to Depp as “the Monster” and claimed that she still had scars on her arms and feet from an incident where Depp allegedly threw her through a ping pong table and dragged her through broken glass. The suit is still ongoing in the US.

In January 2020, phone recordings obtained by the Daily Mail were released. In these recordings, Heard admitted to “hitting” Depp.

Heard is heard saying: “I’m sorry that I didn’t … hit you across the face in a proper slap, but I was hitting you, it was not punching you. Babe, you’re not punched.
“I don’t know what the motion of my actual hand was, but you’re fine, I did not hurt you, I did not punch you, I was hitting you.”

Meanwhile, Depp said in the recording: “I left last night. Honestly, I swear to you because I just couldn’t take the idea of more physicality, more physical abuse on each other.
“Because had we continued it, it would have gotten f—ing bad. And baby, I told you this once. I’m scared to death we are a f—ing crime scene right now,” Depp continued.

Heard replied: “I can’t promise you I won’t get physical again. God, I f—ing sometimes get so mad I lose it.”

On July 2020, Depp fought News Group Newspapers, the publisher of The Sun, in court over a 2018 article in which they called him a “wife beater” in reference to Depp and Heard’s former marriage. Depp sued both the publisher and The Sun’s executive editor Dan Wootton for libel.

His once ex-fiancee Winona Ryder and his ex-wife Vanessa Paradis both provided statements in Depp’s defense.
Ryder wrote: “The idea that he is an incredibly violent person is the farthest thing from the Johnny I knew and loved. I cannot wrap my head around these accusations.”
Paradis wrote that Heard’s accusations are “nothing like the true Johnny I have known, and from my personal experience of many years, I can say he was never violent or abusive to me.”

The trial began in early July, and lasted three weeks. Depp alleged that Heard defecated in his bed and punched him, which Heard denies. Depp also accused Heard of having extra-marital affairs with James Franco and Elon Musk, which Heard also denies.

Heard, meanwhile, accused Depp of physically abusing her, and has also accused him of throwing a phone at her face, which she says left her bruised. Furthermore, Hear said that Depp threatened to kill her on several occasions.

On November 2 the court ruled against Depp in the libel trial. Judge Mr Justice Nicol ruled that The Sun was correct in reporting that Depp was violent towards his ex-wife Amber Heard. In reaching his ruling, Nicol referred to 14 separate incidents that The Sun’s lawyers cited to justify calling Depp a “wife-beater.”

In a statement seen by the BBC, Heard’s lawyer in the US said: “For those of us present for the London High Court trial, this decision and judgment are not a surprise. Very soon, we will be presenting even more voluminous evidence in the US. “We are committed to obtaining justice for Amber Heard in the US Court and defending Ms. Heard’s right to free speech.”

Johnny Depp has strenuously denied all claims that he was violent towards Heard and in a statement published shortly after the ruling, his lawyers said: “This decision is as perverse as it is bewildering.
“Most troubling is the judge’s reliance on the testimony of Amber Heard, and corresponding disregard of the mountain of counter-evidence from police officers, medical practitioners, her own former assistant, other unchallenged witnesses and an array of documentary evidence which completely undermined the allegations, point by point. “All of this was overlooked. The judgment is so flawed that it would be ridiculous for Mr. Depp not to appeal this decision. In the meantime, we hope that in contrast to this case, the ongoing libel proceedings in America are equitable, with both parties providing full disclosure rather than one side strategically cherry-picking what evidence can and cannot be relied upon.”

4 days later on November 6, Depp announced that he had been ‘asked to resign’ from his role as Grindewald in ‘Fantastic Beasts 3’.
Depp posted on his Instagram: “I wish to let you know that I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in ‘Fantastic Beasts’ and I have respected and agreed to that request.” He continued, “Finally, I wish to say this. The surreal judgment of the court in the UK will not change my fight to tell the truth and I confirm that I plan to appeal.” “My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false,” Depp added. “My life and career will not be defined by this moment in time.”

On November 25, Judge Nicol refused to grant Depp the permission to appeal against his judgment, saying: “I do not consider that the proposed grounds of appeal have a reasonable prospect of success.”

In March 2021, Depp was once again denied permission to appeal this time by the The Court of Appeal judges saying the original hearing “was full and fair” and that the trial judge “gave thorough reasons for his conclusions which have not been shown even arguably to be vitiated by any error of approach or mistake of law.”

During the evidence given at the application hearing, Depp’s lawyers said that they had not received a fair trial and presented “fresh evidence” that alleged Amber Heard lied about donating her full $7 million divorce settlement to charity. Depp’s lawyer Andrew Caldecott QC told the court that Heard’s claim about the donation was a “calculated and manipulative lie” that “tipped the scales against Mr. Depp from the very beginning,” The Guardian reported.

A representative for Heard said her camp was “pleased” but not surprised by the court’s denial of Depp’s application to appeal. “The evidence presented in the UK case was overwhelming and undeniable,” the rep told The Guardian.

I hope xhaka is fine, has no symptoms, recovers quickly and doesn’t give it to anyone

Regardless why does it not surprise me that captain bonehead thought it was worth running a small risk of badly impacting his physical health…. as someone whose fame and fortune depends entirely on his ability to be healthy

    Genius stuff

We have this unacceptable situation and the reason why we are so bloody boring and failing.

The manager simply wants ‘Yes Men’ as his players.
And KSE simply wants ‘Yes Men’ as Executives

And none of them , have got anything of interest to say to the supporters except:

    ”’Be Excited”
    ”Trust the Process”
”Young players that fit the profile” is the latest pile of codswallop

As if no other club out there has tried buying a posse of young players.

  45. raptora

Imo Heard is lying. I cannot believe that she will go to court after an incident with a phone thrown at her face, but she wouldn’t do it after supposedly Depp allegedly threw her through a ping pong table and dragged her through broken glass. She also has a history of being abusive – in 2009 she was on charge of hitting girlfriend Tasya Van Ree.

The conversation that is recorded is the only actual proof that I trust and it shows Heard as the abuser. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwMLyFExrGY

I mean, she’s uber hot, like goddess hot, but I’d hate my life if it was as toxic as this.

“I didn’t punch you, by the way,” Heard interjects. “I’m sorry that I didn’t hit you across the face in a proper slap but I was hitting you. It was not punching you.

“Babe, you’re not punched … I don’t know what the motion of my actual hand was, but you’re fine. I did not hurt you, I did not punch you; I was hitting you.”

“Don’t tell me what it feels like to be punched when you f—ing have a closed fist…” the Pirates of the Caribbean actor says.

“You didn’t get punched. You got hit. I’m sorry I hit you like this but I didn’t punch you. You didn’t get f—ing decked. I f—ing was hitting you,” Heard tells Depp.

    “You’re a f—ing baby. You’re such a baby,” Heard says.

Depp asks: “Because you start physical fights?”

At another point in the recording, Depp says: “I do not want to leave you. I do not want a divorce, I do not want you out of my life. I just want peace. If things get physical, we have to separate.”

Heard says she can’t promise she will “be perfect. I can’t promise you I won’t get physical again.”

“God, I f—ing — sometimes, I get so mad I lose it. I can f—ing promise you I will do everything to change. I promise you. I’m not going to throw around divorce,” she says.

“I love you and I want you to be my wife. And I want to be your husband,” Depp responds. “And I wanna be a good husband. If I haven’t been, I’ll do everything I can to find out how to be a good husband.”

  46. Kris

Not only Xhaka, an article said about 1/3 of footballers don’t want to get vaccinated. Not too unusual, though. In most countries, the number of people who don’t want to get vaccinated is between 20 and 35 percent, I think.

Re Xhaka and football players getting infected with COVID again.

It’s irresponsible and they are putting at risk not only themselves but the people around them, especially in a job where they are surrounded by a lot of people. I know anti-vaxxers exist but they are paid millions a year and they decide to take a gamble of being unavailable for 2 weeks at best, or sustaining long term health problems that could stop them from practicing their job.

Xhaka is lucky he got it during his suspension.

” your kcoc is her drug, she”ll keep coming for more, despite knowing you are not good for her”

Yes sensei, I will write this down a 100 times in my notebook, never to forget your wise words 😂😂

  50. Valentin

As a footballer, your body is your bread winner. With long covid you run the risk of long term lung damage. You also run the risk of brain fogginess and increase response time to stimuli.

How good you think you are going to be as a footballer if you need extra time just to process where will the ball go or if you cannot run as much as before because you lost 25% of your log capacity? That’s exactly what happen to one of my colleague. The guy is 47 years, used to run marathon and just qualified for ironmen triathlon before covid. 4 months after being discharged, he can’t climb one floor of steps without needing a break.

Yes there are risk with taking the vaccine, but a lot less and a lot less consequences than catching serious long COVID. The mind boggles why they would take such a risk, knowing that some insurers are now refusing to pay out if you are unvaccinated. Consider that as either a pre medical condition or a lifestyle choice not covered by the insurance.

Try getting a job that pays £100kpw when you have no education, no diploma, no work experience outside of playing football and brain fogginess.

    Who advises those morons?

  51. China1

I’m not sure these guys see it as a gamble. I think they’re scarcely able to formulate coherent ideas and concept as it is. Understanding what to do in a pandemic was definitely a big ask

  52. Matt

That paddy power video would be enraging if it wasn’t so accurate.

The fact that they would put that together without the risk of Arsenal fans boycotting them because the majority agree with it again speaks volumes about the complete state of the club!

  53. Mr Serge

These players are so pampered these days they can just about wipe their arse

A friend of mine works for crystal palace as player liasson he has had players not know how to online shop, book a service for their car, not knowing how to turn on an oven, change a light bulb, he had a player said the kettle needed replacing and he had just not turned it on at the mains.one could not even open his door to get into his house because he forgot the security code.and we think they can decide whether to be vscinated or not ?

  54. raptora

Just saw Manure’s goal vs Wolves again. Challenge on Pogba vs Neves that should be a yellow + foul for Wolves, Mike Dean says play on, some seconds later Manure score. VAR says to Mike Dean to have a look at it and Dean the cunt says he has seen it well enough and there isn’t much in it.

VAR, as it is, is a complete joke. PGMOL is a complete joke. Dean has had many, many, many shady decisions and he’s still allowed to ref at the highest level. There is zero accountability, zero risk. He can do anything he wants, take the worst decisions and there will be no punishment.

It’s beyound a joke at this point because it happens to the same teams time and again. Some get serially dicked by VAR and some get repeated help from VAR. It’s way past the point you can call it luck.

  55. Kroenkephobe

How about an Arse-Aid concert where we all get together and bang one out (!) for charidee? Matching jumpers and everything! I’m sure Almunia could swing it with his extensive contacts book to entice Bob Geldof and Bono out of hibernation and have one last go at being rude to everyone. ‘Give us your fuckin money and your manager’.

    It’s relegation time
    It’s time to be afraid
    Tet’s rep on the line
He and Stan K should be flayed

And in a club, that’s full of wankers
There’s no room for football cheer
Spread the word around the Emirates
    Make the bastards hear

But say a prayer, pray for another coach
Before Christmas time, before the club goes up in smoke
There’s a team inside there somewhere
That could get us near the top
Get Artedu out the club, he’s been a flo-op

Free Ar-senal, let them know Arteta’s on his way
Free Ar-senal, the championship will be kept at bay
Free Ar-senal, sayonara Mik, Edu, Vinai
Free Ar-senal, break the fucking bank and get Conte.

If all else fails, we might make a shit load of money!

  56. Sid

“””””””Sid – I challenge you to adapt some of Fela’s stuff into an Arsenal tune””””””

  57. Positive pete

Raptors re Dean.Don’t get me started on Mike Dean.z100% correct. Basically ignore VAR & makes his own decisions. What’s the point of Var? Unlike Rugby. The incident is openly discussed & viewed on the big screen for all to see & hear the decision making process. Therefore he gets away with it.No accountability.N9 match suspension for incompetence ( blatant bias, more the truth) .With our old friend Riley in charge it’s a joke. No,actually it’s corrupt.

  58. Dissenter

Y’all ought to read Vinai’s statement
    ‘Trust da process”
That’s what the club gets when they let a rookie manager be 50% of the footballing brain trust’” of the club

  59. Moray

So we might be getting an offer to sell Elneny.

Due to our poor transfer dealing this summer, it’s going to put us at risk to let him go, no? What with Partey seemingly Injured for half the time.

  60. Useroz

That Vinai email is a joke of the highest order. Pedro would have written something more coherent… As it is, too many gaps to fans’ liking. Perhaps he doesn’t /they don’t really care …

  61. Graham62

The Granit Xhaka saga: Sackable offence.

So we now know that GX is one of the 30% of footballers who did not take the vaccine. His choice, his rights but still, imo, a brain dead decision.

A friend of my son, who is 28 and is a competitive runner, contracted Covid 4 weeks back. As fit as a fiddle, with no underlying health conditions, he is now in ICU and it doesn’t look good for him.

The fact that Xhaka took no responsibility for himself, his family, his friends and his teammates doesn’t surprise me. This guy is easier to read than a book and the fact that he is still on Arsenal’s books when he wanted to leave, just beggars belief.

Why is he still at the club? What does Arteta see in him? For the life of me, I don’t understand it. He disrespected the shirt, the club and the fans and yet Mikel Arteta, in his wisdom, sees him as a leader and a pivotal player in the clubs future.

So blame the Kroenke’s, blame Edu, keep making excuses for Arteta. This is not a question of him not being fit to manage Arsenal FC, I would go as far as to say he’s not fit to run any club or business, at any level.

Analysis all his mistakes these past twenty months and you’ll soon come to the realisation that this has nothing to do with our hierarchy and their shortcomings. This is all about one individual that is not only way out of his depth but regrettably is dragging us into the abyss with him.

Generational coach and manager! Don’t make me laugh!!. Looking good, probably smelling good and speaking half a dozen languages is not important if you don’t know the difference between right and wrong.

Nothing is ever said or written on here to genuinely highlight these issues.

As an Arsenal fan, I find that shameful.

  62. Mee

Thought they would sack the fraudster during the interlull. Now we will get beaten by Norwich. At this point, Arsenal cannot turn its nose up at Sean Dyche. And the so called “young players that fit the profile” is an insult to the fans. Unless the profile is relegated players (Ramsdale), unsuited to the role (White), weak as a twig (Odegaard.) Arsenal are careless, unimaginative and mediocre – the perfect recipe for relegation.

  63. Chris

“ Avoid added sugars, vegetable oils, refined flour,
    Get Plenty of physical activities
Eat alot of superherbs like garlic, turmeric, gooseberries, simsim, ginseng
Get a pet or live in a large family.
The city is Not healthy for anyone more so older people.”

Yep, also a tablespoon of flaxseed per day. And the obvious, avoid all animal produce.

  64. Chris

Xhaka not the only footballer, or pro athlete, to be an anti vaxxer but it’s just another string to his brain dead bow.

He could at least have had the decency to catch it a couple of weeks later so he would miss more games for us!

  65. Graham62

If Arteta stays for the ten games that Pedro highlights, we will be in serious serious shite. Am I talking relegation? Probably not but, if anyone on here seriously thinks we can sustain a progressive upturn in fortunes under Arteta, you are seriously mistaken.

Man Utd, Spuds, Leeds, Chelski, MC, have all been in the championship over the past fifty years. Who’s to say we aren’t next?

If Arteta goes, we finish 10th or higher.

Arteta stays it’s going to be a massive struggle.

    Just an opinion.

  66. TR7

Besiktas have made an official offer for Elneny. Apparently he was subbed in 33th min in a friendly against Brentford by Patino. Quite possible he is allowed to leave with AMN all set to take his place in midfield.

  67. Valentin

Before we put Xhaka in the anti-vaxx box, we need confirmation that he deliberatedly refused the vaccine. It also be just pure laziness, stupidity on his part.

A friend of one of my siblings did not take the vaccine, because he thought that will interfere with his holidays. He is not an ago vaxxers, but He decided to wait after the holidays in case he had an adverse reaction. He was afraid of ruining his holidays. The result the idiot caught COVID during his holidays and is now in hospital.

Like my brother says, sometimes people are not malicious or nasty, they are just dumb and lazy.

Never underestimate the powers of idiocy and procrastination!

  68. TitsMcgee

That YT video of Depp and Heard is precisely why every case needs to be examined individually on it’s own rather than assume the man is automatically guilty.

Applies to other “social justice warrior” causes as well.

  69. TitsMcgee

That YT video on PaddyPower is very funny/sad.

When everyone can see the fault and supposedly nobody at Arsenal can it’s pretty damning.

Unless of course, we are only doing it for the bantzz.

There were one or two windows under Wenger where he very clearly did “the opposite” of what everyone was expecting him to do and I have no doubt it was a big eff you to all the fans that were critical of his “genius”.

  73. China1

Xhaka got a new contract and a pay rise not because he’s an excellent player but because he’s a great leader

Seen all that leadership these last 7 days I guess…

  74. CG

    Arteta on Tomiyasu:

”””We followed him for a while. We needed a full back who could be very versatile, can play as a centre back, can play in a back three. He is 22 but he has some really good experience in Serie A & at international level & with the qualities we are looking for”””

The B Blagger at it again.

they bought him on the last day of the bloody window, 3 games into the season
Like B. White. TT neither a center back , nor right back.

    Typical confusion.

  75. CG

    theres more……

Arteta on signing young players with experience:

”””'”Yes, different experiences, some had experience in the league, so abroad & some have been coached in other ways, but they are players we have followed for a long time that we knew could fit in the model we are trying to implement”””””

  76. Matt

‘Xhaka got a new contract and a pay rise not because he’s an excellent player but because he’s a great leaderSeen all that leadership these last 7 days I guess…’

Exactly. Again, only at Arsenal would Xhaka be considered a good role model for the younger players. Hey kids, this is how you repeatedly get sent off, score own goals/gift goals to the other team, reject a vaccine and contract Covid and the final lesson, here is how you give the finger to your own fans!!

  77. BacaryisGod

It also looks like we considered Lamptey and Aaron’s bet felt they were too small and would be targeted in the air.

After seeing Holding and Chambers schooled by Sterling and Holding, height might not be such a big issue. A good but smaller defender who gets his positioning right is more valuable than a taller one that has no clue where his opponent is.

  78. Nelson

I am all for having AMN to replace Elneny. AMN has much more up side than Elneny, even playing as a CM. Maybe that is Arteta’s reason to stop AMN’s transfer to Everton.

  79. Kris

Now we won’t get rid of Elneny because we might miss him in a season without Europe?

For the 2 CM positions we have Partey, Xhaka, Lokonga, Niles, and we had earlier been told that White can also play as a DM, while in an emergency consisting of 3 injuries even Odegaard could drop to central midfield.

Partey’s Afcon doesn’t matter here because Elneny will be off, too.

  80. CG

“”.After seeing Holding and Chambers schooled by Sterling and Holding, height might not be such a big issue””””

Chambers is also in the mould of White and TT.

Neither one thing or the other.Hybrid don’t work in the prem. (All this ‘speciificty’ nonsense again)

Maguire, Ruidger, VVD, Dunk are proper defenders
Holding is too, but of much lower calibre.

  81. Nelson

“After seeing Holding and Chambers schooled by Sterling and Holding, height might not be such a big issue.”

They are just bad defenders. You have to decide whether to defend the space or the person when a cross comes in. When there is a chance you may miss the header, then tackle the opponent and disturb him. Don’t just ball watching.

  82. Chris

Arsenal went ahead and did an August goal of the month vote didn’t they? Needless to say it is the ladies team
Putting the gents team to shame again!

  83. Pierre

The sad thing is , if we had kept Martinez we wouldn’t be talking about our defenders being schooled in the air by the 2 city players as Martinez would have taken both crosses with ease as they were less than 5 yards from the goal.

Leno has poor positioning , poor anticipation and poor decision making when it comes to crosses into the box..

Probably stems from the Chelsea game when he totally mis judged the flight of the ball for jorginho to score and cost us the game.
Since then he has remained rooted to his line ..
