WILL NOT LOOK AT THE RAMOS RUMOURS

by .

Well good morning to you ALL!

Another day goes by without a signing and I am sad. Tavares? Grealish? Maddison? Nothing. Just silence.

Preseason starts next week and as it stands, our summer looks like a classic one.

‘THE CLUB WILL MOVE FAST’

Followed by the empty vastness of misery.

But this is the summer of positivity, so we have to look towards the light.

Things are finally moving. United made the first mega splash of the summer. PSG shift £80m to Inter for Hakimi. The euros are going to enter the final phase pretty soon. I am confident something will drop shortly.

Tavares is apparently in town to get the deal over the line. This is sharp business for a very good price. We’ve maybe learned our lesson by bringing in a young hungry talent versus going for the obvious old boys in Van Arnholt and Bertrand. I think either/or could have worked for this back-up position, but one signing has the potential to double our money… that’s Tavares. I’d rather be a school than a retirement fund.

William Saliba has withdrawn from the Olympics, which is a bit of a shame because that was a great platform for Serge Gnabry. This is either good news for his loan move or it’s good news for the Saliba-web-warriors collective that thinks he should be anointed god of football this summer.

Quite interesting that GFFN, the biggest cry babies when it comes to Saliba, slinked out a story yesterday that stated the fuck up last season with Saliba’s loan was down to Rennes pulling out of a loan deal they had agreed with the player. This is amusing for a number of reasons, but mainly because a team that had top 4 visions last season in Ligue One switched attention to… a player that was 25-years-old in Daniele Rugani. You can bitch all you want about how the 7 minutes of Youtube videos you’ve watched mean he should start for Arsenal, but proof is in the actions of those who have skin in the game, and Rennes didn’t fancy a 19-year-old as their main man last season.

Personally, I’d love to see him given a chance to compete amongst the centre-backs. My main concern though is that he’ll fester when he could be developing with actual games. He’s 20, even half a season on loan would move his game forward and help him hit the ground running. But we’ll see.

ARSENAL RUMOURED TO BE IN FOR SERGIO RAMOS. Look, I am not a fan of signing older players, but there are a few out there that seem to defy the laws of physiology. Ibrahimovic, Ronaldo, Messi, and probably Sergio Ramos. There aren’t many clear leaders at Arsenal, it’s hard to deny that someone as immensely successful as Ramos wouldn’t improve Arsenal… but this is probably a fantasy. PSG could offer him £300m a season. We could offer him a discount card at Pret and Renault Clio company car. Still, if he fancies one game a week and no European adventures this season, we are the team for him.

Right, short one today. Remember to tune into the Arsenal Opinion Podcast below, and if you fancy a change of scenery, I had a fun chat with Elliot from The Arsenal Vision Podcast here.

Tom why would arsenal accept a loan they didn’t want?

raptora

Jesus fkin Christ.

Guendouzi December 2019 valued at 50m euro now sold by the team Rocket for 11.6m euro.

Even current value is at 20m euro.

Hahahaha only at Arsenal do we get far less money that the valuation on transfermarkt.

Arteta’s failings have been pretty thoroughly litigated on LG
Personally I’m waiting to see how the TW pans out and how MA does with his new team for the first half of the season before I make any more comments on his capabilities

“China
Why would Arsenal force Saliba into a loan he didn’t want”

Just like they forced Nelson to one last season?

China1

A loan to marseille worked for saliba because he must be sick to death of arsenal and it works for arsenal because arteta wants to get him as far away from arsenal as possible and to have the ‘but he’s never played in England’ as an excuse for cunting him off next season

Arteta and saliba will both be happy with it. But there is next to no chance saliba comes back to arsenal next summer so it’s basically pointless

raptora

He was one of our best players in his breakthrough year when he was 19 yo. Managed 33 apps in the league alone. With that horrible player we were on course of finishing 4th. Now not good enough for dipshit.

Arteta out. Fk off from our club.

S Asoa

So much is said about Arteta consistently in posts above. There is a need to put it in a nutshell. Arteta is a psycho. Explanatory Note – Arteta started life at La Mancia . His contemporaries Xavi, Iniesta et al were so far superior developed a massive inferiority complex and so moved to PSG ( no great shakes those days), but was deemed not good enough and finally settled into a serene mediocrity of then Everton. With such a history it is not surprising Arteta is hostile to any of the effortlessly superstar players who remind him of Iniesta. Saka,… Read more »

“Even current value is at 20m euro.”

Who is dishing out this values?

Other clubs’ are not too idiotic like what we did for the Pepe transfer to pay 20m Euro for Guendousi.

So spare us this transfer market valuation trash. Clubs pay what they think is right and affordable for their targets.

raptora

I’m furious. Can’t tell me Guen was worse than Elneny or Ceballos. In no universe. 48 apps in his debut Arsenal season, 5th place and Europa final, but Arteta preferred Ceballos and Elneny and his favourite 8th place.

Out!!!!

TR7

You can argue about valuations all day but one thing is clear players worse than Guen are getting sold for more money. That he was made a non-negotiable led to sharp depreciation in his market value.

Tee

“He was one of our best players in his breakthrough year when he was 19 yo. Managed 33 apps in the league alone. With that horrible player we were on course of finishing 4th. Now not good enough for dipshit.”

These is a testament to how low we have fallen. Guendousi can’t lace the boot of our prospects in the glorious years. Now he is been touted as something he isn’t.

China If Saliba has a really good season and arteta is manager next summer who honestly believes he will be reintegrated at arsenal? Arteta was already the manager last season , fucked up Saliba’s loan last season and Saliba already had a good half season at Nice , so much so that fans voted him the player of the season , yet we have to believe he isnt ready because no other PL club will ever risk a 20yr old at CB . Raptora yeah I’m no Guen fan. I don’t care if he goes personally. But he’s more talented than El Neny and with some coaching on his rough edges by a generational coach one would’ve thought he’d be good value as a squaddies anyway.

But he broke the non(sometimes non) negotiables which is a death sentence at arsenal. Sometimes.

Tee

“You can argue about valuations all day but one thing is clear players worse than Guen are getting sold for more money”

Worse than Guen from your perspective but not from that of the buying clubs.

Besides, can you give examples of these players?

raptora

And what you do with Guen is you give the chance to a convertible player. What does playing Ceballos and Elneny do? Develop a loanee and a player who we’ll never get a double digit money for??? This is where Arteta is at his worst. He doesn’t give a fuck about our finances. Zero. Zilch. If Guen had played 30 games last season for Arsenal, he’d be a 25m euro player. Not 11m. And we would have gotten better results. But no!!! Arteta can’t deal with him. Or with Saliba. Or with Martinelli. Or with Torreira. Well this is how… Read more »

Truth is that Arteta would be lucky to be an assistant coach for Arsenal in our glorious years
How low have we fallen that the entire club’s organization is kowtowing to him.

I hope Willian hangs around so we can use him to count down on when Arteta will take us to the CL finals.

Davi

Arteta did the same with Auba as Willian – both have proven themselves to be top players in the past so he persisted with playing them even when others were consistently better, or at least looked more deserving of opportunities, in the hopes they’d come good. I remember Wenger doing this with players like Pires when off form, but he was generally rewarded in the end (perhaps unsurprisingly in Pires’ case). It concerns me greatly that we’re going into next season with Auba likely being our 1st choice CF – I think this is a bit of a blind spot… Read more »

Sherlock that’s it in a nutshell. The fact of the matter is it won’t be for another 3 years until he is 23 (the legal age to be a CB for a good team in England). And until he’s played (and been elite) for an English team these French loans won’t be worth shit to Arteta. This loan to France all but confirms that the club have no interest in him otherwise they’d at a minimum be trying incredibly hard to convince him of the merits of joining an English team to fast track his readiness for Arsenal. The most impressive thing about Guendouzi for me was his fantastic attitude on the pitch. The kid never hid, never stopped trying, least made himself available for the ball and straight up fought for the team. Its all down to the strategy and vision of the owner isnt it . Appointed a Technical Director ( decreased his powers to the managers benefit) . Appointed a rookie manager who plays favorite and has a CEO who is indecisive and inexperienced. We are now more comparable to Palace and Wolves , rather than having a long term vision like Dortmund/Leicester.

The most annoying thing about this Arteta defense is that he has failed on the most important metrics.

An Arsenal manager who finished 8th twice in a row deserves to be sacked. There’s no excuse good enough to keep him in the job.

At Man City, Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea, it would be like that. But here, we have Arsenal fans defending the same manager.

As to your points only No.5 is worth a response. Yes he may be an improvement on some of the players presently at the club.bBut depending on how he’s used it’s not guaranteed he improves us.

Also at what cost, and I don’t just mean monetary. If we’re unable for whatever reasons to get adequate replacements for the more needing areas mainly midfield . Then prioritising another CB at that expense will be another thing to add to the list of errors of judgement. IMO.

Gonsterous

Wenger never depended on ball playing center backs, he depended on having world class MFs. So did Fergie

I don’t think any team from madrid, to PSG to juve depend too much on a ball playing CB
It’s all about having World class midfielders,

But the arteta faithful believe they need a ball playing CB to play arteta ball. They also need a CM who can play LB.

Who is willing to bet that Marseilles with Saliba and Guendouzi will finish closer to the Champion’s League place than Arsenal? With Lille being decimated because of the financial mismanagement of their previous owner, they will be happy if they finish between 5th and 10th. Lyon may have a difficult season because they will lose a lot of players. I fancy Monaco to win the Ligue 1 over PSG. With an unmotivated MBappe (plus after his horrid arrogant petulant show at Euro he likely to be abused on every stadium in France). And Neymar missing the first part of the… Read more »

Playing devil’s advocate for MA
He hasn’t had world class midfielders or quality CBS to work with
His season turned around once he got some improvement in quality with the midfield

Mark it was a general statement that’s all, I’ve read a few complaining, tend not to remember names tbf. Davi sounds like we’d be the opposite if we were coaches. I would definitely build from the back first, maybe that’s the reason this process resonates with me more so. I’m also not worried about Auba, last season he was coming off a few seasons carrying us. Add to that the lockdown and malaria, chances of such a drop off again seems unlikely though possible of course. We just need to get him regular chances and I believe we will based… Read more »

There are some sane posters in here I see. The Arteta situation has been debated a thousand times. But everyone can have opinions and debates. But next season is very critical. Either he delivers or gets fired. There will be no more excuses. If he delivers fans will forgive every crap that he has done so far. We need to see a route to the top with him. And we need a genuine run for top 4. That is something we can agree on I hope.

Sly

I agree Habesha
Nothing we can do otherwise

really good second goal that, outside of the boot cross. sick

Sly

If he can’t deliver tangible improvement with upgrades in midfield and defence his position is untenable and the kroenkes as bad as they are after a massive backing in the TW will have to fire him
We’re stuck with him till midseason at least till then
Constantly reiterating his failings on LG is a tad bit tedious imo

Curse – I’m not really thinking of it as building from the back or not, it’s more addressing the weaknesses as I see them. I don’t think our CBs were the biggest issue wrt passing out from defence, more so that the movement in front of them wasn’t good enough and/or the midfielders and forwards didn’t always show the skill/confidence to receive it and progress up with pitch. I saw it on occasion but there was just no consistency. didn’t think Holding, for example, was so weak on the ball that it would be my first thought to replace him.… Read more »

“Wenger never depended on ball playing center backs, he depended on having world class MFs. So did Fergie”

Correct me if I’m wrong

But playing out from the back seems to be much more of a tactic in the ‘modern’ game than in Wenger and Fergie’s day, especially with the current goal kick rule — so perhaps a ball-playing CB wasn’t so useful a decade ago

That being said I too would prefer a world class MF joining the club than a ball-playing CB

Tee “That’s why we are being laughed at by other clubs’ fans.” Unless your gormless, it is obvious why other clubs fans taunt and laugh at Arsenal fans. And it’s not the Arsenal fans who respected Wenger until the very end who they are laughing at. It is aimed at the wenger obsessives who abused our greatest and most successful manager, and as each day, week , month and year passes since the great man left, Arsenal football club is slowly but surely losing it’s identity. The quality on and off the pitch that Wenger so embraced and encouraged is… Read more »

Davi I agree the movement in front of the defence wasn’t good, nor were the tactics to have Partey in midfield by himself at times. I also agree that a top notch CM is more important than a ball playing CB 100% and that Holding improved last season and wouldn’t be the end of the world if he did another season as a starter. I just think in order to get to where we want to be that spot needs an upgrade. Will it work without a good CM? of course not but a good CM with Holding doesn’t move… Read more »

A WC cm partner for partey would take us up many more gears than a ball playing CB will. If it comes to an either/or. Which surely it can’t haha

But yeah will see how this window plays out
