Mesut Ozil dropped the big interview in The Athletic. TL;DR, he wants to stay.
This isn’t new news. He loves it in London, he’s paid a fortune, no one is going to make him take a substandard playing option.
I think we should just leave it there. If we’re asking Madrid to pick up £30k of Ceballos’ wages, chances are, we’re not finding £18m to buy him out.

More worrying, the Daily Mail is reporting that all in, Willian is going to set Arsenal back £220k a week. That feels quite a long way from ‘bargain’ and it’s exactly the sort of thing the exec team at Arsenal can’t stop doing. We’re skint and throwing that sort of mega-money at a player that will go to Qatar after Arsenal on a free.

We’ve been going for broke to get in the champions league each year since we dropped out, instead of properly rebuilding, as though just one more player will push us over the top. Freddie, you’re right to a point, however the numbers they give suggest that what was paid as a joining fee effectively doubles his salary. That’s a huge hidden cost we’ve agreed to.

When looking at Willian I think we need to look at our kids. Our kids have no-one to show them how to be a winner on the flanks and as a creative CM force. Freddie, I like him as his player and he will definitely add something to our play. But I’m nervous About his age and committing to such long contracts for someone who could be in decline. Muddy, Pedro is claiming that we are only using one or two agents and so this means we are scratching around to fit their players into our team. The agents are looking to find the best deals for themselves and their players, normally in that order.

Arsenal should have focussed this summer as was discussed many times on Le Grove in recruiting two players along our spine specifically a CB and CMF players.
In the case of CB I suggested on many occasions that Upamecano should have
