Terminate him.

by .

Wow, I am totally humbled today, like, every person that read yesterday’s post agreed? First time ever. Totally wild.

Just kidding, the best people on the internet agreed, the worst did not.

Let’s crack into today’s post (note, I drank some beer before penning this tragically bad word vom).

Arsenal, according to the press, are about to TERMINATE the contract of Mikhi. Sounds brutal, but apparently the deal is that we cut him loose and Roma will give him a contract that equals what he had before. Can you complain that we didn’t get a fee? Maybe. But this is the new world and I find it INCREDIBLE that any club in the world is willing to shell out £180k a week on a name that has done fuck all for 4 years, that is now 31. £10m a year for Mikhi? Madness.

That is the power of Raiola. If this were an Arsenal deal, I’d be FEWMING. I reckon their melt fans are saying, ‘well, a couple of bad deals from a super-agent probably means we’re due an exciting elite youngster.’

Fools.

This might be the way many clubs operate this summer. I’m expecting that sort of deal for Mesut Ozil. It might be tougher with him because no club in world football will offer close to £350k a week for a player that doesn’t like away games, but the German MIGHT consider getting a termination if a club out there wants to offer him the security of a 3-year deal, even at a lower rate. Maybe Team Fortnite has a place for him?

I watched all 17 minutes of the Mikel Arteta prezzer before the Norwich game today. There wasn’t a lot to chew on.

  • Ozil and Matteo need to give a little more in training to be considered
  • Norwich will fight for their lives
  • Arteta really, really likes Soares and values his delivery in the final third of the pitch (POOR HECTOR (thought true))
  • He offered a broad statement of love for Saka and Balogan

The press is focusing on this section of chat.

“I’m expecting a player that is not playing to feel hurt and disappointed,”

“I believe he’s not very happy because he’s not playing, but as well he picked up an injury the other day and we have to wait and see how he evolves.”

“Everybody that I have in the squad, my job is to get the maximum out of them and to try and help them and support them. And if they are willing, everybody is welcome. I always hope that the players want to give their best.”

I’m not sure Mesut feels, but it’d be nice if the conversation pre-game wasn’t about his lack of interest in being a good professional, but here we are.

Back to real talk.

Am I about the get hyped on Cedric Soares because Mikel said I should BE EXCITED?

You’re damn right I am. Best right-back in the Kia portfolio. THE FUTURE.

St. Etienne publicly slew/slayed Arsenal for not letting Saliba play a cup final which would cost Arsenal a £2.5m loan fee.

Absolute double melts on toast. Clearly reeling because their cougar fiend of a Prez cancelled the football season for Euro brownie points. Get over it lads, it’s done, you looked covid in the eye and jumped the incoming two-footed challenge.

I don’t quite understand what sort of contract madness Huss Fahmy put in place here, but it sounds like a mental clause. Bit of a worry that we’re going to take a teenager out of a cup final; like, why wouldn’t the French club just waive the fee? He’s their best defender? Stupid.

Transfer talk?

Mikel had this to say on Matteo.

“When Arsenal picked him to come here its because they could obviously see the potential & the qualities Matteo has. When you are developing, the curve is not normally so much straightforward, you have to have some bumps & you have to adapt to it”

Yep, life is a rollercoaster, you just got to ride it. What I’m reading into this is the Frenchman is one of the few sexy assets we have to work with this summer. I suspect he’ll make a great makeweight with an elite club. Could he be the midfielder that allows Atleti to justify moving on Thomas Partey? Maybe. The rumours are still hot that the Ghanaian and Upemacano are our primary targets. I’d love it if that were true. Maybe Lacazette is the RPL for Werner?

Back to the game.

If we beat the carrot crunchers, we’ll leapfrog Sheff U, Burnley and Spurs into 7th. The hope – and it’s a wild one based on form – is that we’ll be within 6 points of Wolves and United going into the weekend. We’ll then have the chance to close the gap on Nuno if we beat his excellent side. It’s one game at a time, but two wins in the next two games at least puts us in the mixer.

I don’t hold out much hope, but I’ll always dream.

Short post today.

Watch as Pierre and all the anti-Emery extremists take out hate on Saka.
Gawd he actually said something positive about the former manager

azed

“Young player who played 18 months of 1st team professional football says that the manager under whom he played 14 months is the one with the biggest influence.
Colour me surprised!”

Actually Valentin, Saka was asked about Arteta and had no need to talk about Emery.

salparadisenyc

Great news on Saka, locked and loaded in the Arsenal.

Valentin

The more I read about Mhkitaryan rescinding his contract with Arsenal, the more I pity the guy. He is getting shafted by his agent in way that should be illegal. Mhkitaryan has still one year on his £180kpw contract with Arsenal. Arsenal does not want him, Rome can’t afford that salary nor the £10 million fee requested by Arsenal. So in order to get his wage off the books Arsenal are willing to grant him a free release. Mhkitaryan will then sign a 1 year deal on lesser wage (rumoured to be £5 millions less) while his agent will pocket… Read more »

Saka just showed up Pedro’s ridiculously biased narrative that Emery was “stain” on our history. It’s like the guy did nothing right and everything that went wrong was on him.

Kenyangunner

I seriously don’t see what Hector brings to the team.
Soares cant be any worse

Dissenter

Valentin His agent has been great for him, don’t presume you care more about Mkhitaryan than Mkhitaryan. His agent got his wages bumped up by about 50k weekly when he moved from United to Arsenal. His agent used the leverage of being the fulcrum of 3 deals to get a substantial pay rise for his client. He’s still better off signing a long term deal at say 5 million yearly at Roma for 3-4 seasons at the age of 31 years that wait out his 10 million yearly Arsenal deal and be a free agent at 32 years. Many players… Read more »

The Godfather

My only joy is the official signing of Saka’s extension.

Let’s give Raúl and Mikel some credit.
Big win for the Arsenal

Valentin

Dissenter,

According to reports, he is signing a 1 year deal with Roma…
How is that financially better?

Pierre

Saka’s actually words were “The amount he believed in me and the opportunity he gave me.”

In all honesty, it wasn’t difficult to see the potential of Saka was it , but it was nice of him to give him a mention.

Strangely enough, those who are getting excited about Saka mentioning Emery , failed to add that Saka said Arteta is amazing and is an amazing coach and the future looks bright under Arteta.

Pierre

Andy
2 up front I am not against at all .

The wing back system allows this option, with the wing backs giving the width, 3 in central mid and 3 centre backs.

It’s quite a flexible system as one of the strikers can drop in the hole or out wide if need be

salparadisenyc

Emery gave Saka his chance in 1st team, very classy of the player to tip his cap to his former manager in the presser. Not sure why anything else needs to be read into that or debated.

Dissenter

Sal
Tell that to Pedro the next time he makes such outlandish comments like “Emery is a stain on our history”.

andy1886

Pierre, I agree it is a flexible option. I would maintain however that the thing we have missed more than anything over the last decade is power and pace in the middle of the park. We’ve had a soft centre for far, far too long.

I’m not the one operating on the notion that footballers are morons being duped by their agents.
Like I said, many players have financial advisers separate from their agent- they too can do the arithmetic. Stop pretending like you know more about the player’s contract than he himself.

Leedsgunner

Saka signing is a good news story… goodness knows we’re long overdue one.

I hope we bring in Thomas Partey before long!

Emiratesstroller

At last some light at the end of dark tunnel with Saka signing a new contract. We are beginning to see the younger players in the first team squad signing long term contracts and the club paying them realistic wages commensurate with their performance. The two youngsters who are not on 5 year contracts are Nkietah and Guendouzi. I suspect that Arteta and the Management will now work on securing a long term contract for Nkietah. I am not sure that Guendouzi has a future at Arsenal and it may suit the club to offload him if they can generate… Read more »

Emery deserve his sack. The wheels came off the bus early in his second season.
There was little to love about him tbh, I’m just too happy to correct the record for posterity sake.

You claimed Saka the best academy product ever and now you think because he was handed games by Emery it absolves the former manager of all the criticism thatve gone.

Put your red nose back on.

Valentin

Dissenter, Get off your high horse. Where did I say that every footballer is a moron duped by his agent? I said that from the outside, that specific deal does not make financial sense for that specific player. It does look like the only one who get ahead is Mino Raiola. He may have other justified reasons to be so desperate to leave Arsenal and join Roma, but clearly they are not financials. It is a well known fact that Mini Raiola is a Pitbull during negotiation, but sometimes he cares more about his own part. That is exactly why… Read more »

CC “You claimed Saka the best academy product ever and now you think because he was handed games by Emery it absolves the former manager of all the criticism thatve gone.” Yes, I said he’s the best academy product we’ve ever had. The rest of your post is tripe, made up rubbish. I’m correcting the historical misrepresentation that Pedro and the likes of you are perpetuating here that Emery didn’t do anything right – ‘stain on our history”. You present him as being same massive failure when all he was and will be ever be is just another manager who… Read more »

Another old timer incoming!
“Arsenal have recruited David Luiz to convince his Brazilian team-mate Thiago Silva to join the Gunners from Paris Saint-Germain this summer”

Well he fits the demographic – 35 years old, well past his best, high wages. Give him a 4 year contract!

Dissenter

Valentin
Very well, Mykhi’s agent is pulling the wool over his eyes and you see right through it.

Sal

Now he knows.

Freddie – a corporate lawyer it says. So, no football experience, just another suit.

You like to accuse others of talking nonsense yet your basis for the claims you make are hard to come by altogether. It’s as if you’re making things up as you go along.

Still haven’t managed to locate the quotes from Arteta about Guendouzi that Pep would never have said.

Gonsterous

Jesus, news that arteta wants silva at CB. Somebody needs to tell the boss that a 35y old is not going to cut it in the PL.

Saka signing is Great news, any one know how much he’s on now?

I grew up listening to Fela, Victor Uwaifor and Onyeabor.

Freddie Ljungberg

Andy

Yeah I read the article, still no clue who he is. Thought maybe I missed something or that he’s known for something other than being a lawyer.

Oh well, at least he’s not 85 like the outgoing bunch.

salparadisenyc

If this was a Tarantino film, Samual L Jackson would now say to Dissenter:

NOBODY grew up listening to Onyeabor, not even Onyeabor.

Wasi

Even tho Emery left in the way he did. , it was a class little act to mention him as well as Freddie when asked about how much Arteta has helped him.
Shows humility and gratefulness. Lad is going to the TOPPE

Why can’t they look for an accomplished former player to appoint on that Arsenal board?
