ARTETA SECOND DEBUT CAN’T WAIT

by .

A very quick post from me this morning as I am heading in for my first game of the MIKEL ARTETA ERA GET IN CAN’T WAIT WOOO #1 FAN OVER HERE WITH THE A4 BANNER SAYING #ARTETAIN!

I have no idea what to expect. The manager is dealing with something of an injury crisis, we could be missing a lot of players today. Tierney, Kola and Sokratis are certainly out. There are also doubts over Gabriel, Holding, Ceballos and Hector… there also might be questions over whether Xhaka plays if his mind is on the Hertha Berlin move.

The players he did have ready trained on the pitch yesterday. I like that. For no reason. If Emery had done it I’d have lodged a complaint with the local council, Arteta does it, I find it the sort of elite thinking a progressive young coach should be showcasing.

Chelsea are in a bit of a mess at the moment. They followed up a super defeat of Spurs with a shocking show against lowly Southampton. Some of their fans are predictably on his back, but I think the bleating will be ignored, Chelsea are building up with kids and shit performances are part of the deal there.

Arteta spoke about getting his players to think quicker and work harder off the ball. We saw a taste of that against Bournemouth, today, I hope that continues. I’m looking to see good structure, I’m hoping that against a really good counter-attacking team, we can concentrate, and I’m hoping the players put it in until the very end. Wouldn’t it be great to see us pressing for a second game in a row? I’m living for it.

I think we’re up against it today, it’s going to be hard to extract anything from the game, but at the moment, I’m just looking for progress as we build to a brighter future. A win would be exciting though, can’t say it hasn’t passed my mind.

It’s absolutely freezing out, so if you’re going, wrap up warm and hope the football on show gives us an added boost of warmth.

Right, that’s me out, see you at the game. xx

You couldn’t make it up

Chitom

Mustafi takes a yellow in the build up on Abraham instead of backing off and Chelsea don’t score, it’s that simple.

Leno’s uncharacteristic mistake and Mustafi ‘s rather typical one cost Arteta his win.

Rambo

Artits ain’t winning against Utd either. By the end of that loss, morale will be back to what it was under Emery and Artits’ big words will matter fvck all.

Joe

What’s Ancelloti’s record at Everton since he took over

Asking for a a friend

Mr Serge

Oh no

alex cutter

Unfortunately, the only special sauce flowing today was down CC’s chin after Don pulled out his tiny nob.

raptora

Uninterested Auba gets a 200/10 today. Best performance for him in an Arsenal shirt. Was literally everywhere on the pitch.

Guns of Brixton

Some of you are so agenda driven it is pathetic. The team played well, the best we have seen in months. We lose Chambers due to injury, Willock misses a sitter, the referee should have sent off Jorginho who eventually scored their first goal due to a rare fuck up from generally reliable Leno but yes serve us the boring ‘Arteta has no sauce’.

Preach it brotha!!

Say it again for ppl at the back!!!

Cesc Appeal

Lacazette should be sold so we can reinvest elsewhere.

I honestly don’t see what someone people wank themselves off over him about. Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang average.

Maritnelli in this system would do a far better job.

Aubameyang our MOTM, scored and worked his arse off.

This squad is full of dross. Doesn’t matter who you have, you could have Klopp and massive changes would be needed. They don’t have the legs, lungs or heart.

Rambo

TR7,

Oh bore off, you dumbass.

We played well in what Universe? We were Comprehensively outplayed for the large part.

Dissenter

The good thing os that thew silly Arteta-euphoria is over, dead it it’s broken tracks.
Now we can be pragmatic about appointing young manager. I expect that Arteta will make some mistakes as he grows in the game and will eventually get it right.
It’s just that the euphoric embrace of him by some has been strange.

Redtruth

Come back Emery, all is forgiven..

That’s why I wouldn’t be surprised if our goal this season has to be merely avoiding relegation.

We’ve had two new managers who haven’t been able to get a bounce out of the players, and our form over a whole half season excluding the first two games has us getting relegated in 18th place.

We need results of any kind, because at the current rate we will be fighting to stay up.

Joe

Tr7

It’s a results business. End of.

Where’s the special sauce?

New special sauce. Same old Arsenal

Marko

We bossed the first 25% of the game, the rest was Chelsea’s.

Math isn’t your strong suit is it dissenter.

If someone can tell me why didn’t VAR check the Jorginho pull for a potential red card offense? Oh, I see. Why help Arsenal win?! Corrupted pieces of shit. From ref, to VAR refs, to Mike Riley. Like the goal that would have win us the game vs Palace removed by VAR for god knows what?!?!?! Suck a big donger. Things like this could make fans quit watching football.

Joe

TR7

We were completely out played 2nd half. Barely touched the ball

But we played well?

I think it’s you who may be agenda driven

WengerEagle

Sky wanking off to Lampard’s war cry now haha.

MidwestGun

As predicted knives out for Arteta… We didn’t deserve to lose that. Especially on a Keeper error of that magnitude. Leno has saved us plenty… but not today. Stamina is definitely a problem though.. hit the wall.

Useroz

This sucks. Losing is ‘ok’ but not in this manner.

Clearly a fucking second yellow. Anytime.

Commentators all wonder.

Commentators say they want to hear from the fucking ref reason for not awarding

Rarity commentators would speak for Arsenal right??!!

Fucking off corrupt officials

VAR not checking out second yellow. Another controversy on how Var should be used.

Great 87”. Ruined by Riley & co

Joe

Oh. Everton is above us in the table

Cesc Appeal

I mean the tactics were great but the question Arteta doesn’t seem to have answered was ‘what happens when our players get tired?’ He didn’t have an answer and Chelsea basically dominated from 70 minutes onward as our players were just out of it. That said Torreira was fantastic today until right at the end, Aubameyang worked his backside off, I thought Nelson put in a good shift though faded a lot, Ozil also had a good first half and then disappeared entirely in the second half, also thought for the most part AMN and Saka did well. CB, CDM/CM,… Read more »

I wouldn’t even blame the players for this loss. There were good individual performances all around the pitch.,
Arteta didn’t appreciate the need to make changes early when players are knackered in Dec. I hope he’s a quick learner.
Leno lost us the match. That gift sucked out the oxygen from the room.

United can beat us the same way and then it will be battle stations to avoid relegation.

TR7

We played well for 35 mins of the whole game. We needed to come out on the front foot in the 2nd half.

I dont care what anyone says but Guen is a liability I studied him in that second half and he made more mistakes then simple stuff.

For their second goal he needs to make sure he wins that header or makes that foul he did neither.

Laca was poor today so the team were not good. But in that 35 min we played well.

TBone

Overall a big improvement. I think there are certain players that need to be moved on soon and it’s a disappointing result but I refuse to be angry at the performance. We showed a lot more fight, cohesion and creativity today. If Mikel can make some changes in personnel and keep up the intensity we saw today then I think we will see some real progress.

P.S. Chelsea are classless, fouling chav scum.

Thank you and goodnight.

Fuck the kroenkes. Stick to starting wars you rug wearing yank cunts and leave the football to people it actually means something too. All those cunts who sold the rug wearing yank their shares, hope you all rot in hell you cunts

That’s a tough, tough game to take. Really encouraging in large parts, and undone in two big moments. Horrible refereeing decision regarding Jorginho, and Leno with a real howler.

Excellent first half, lots to improve in the second half. Players were getting fearful after 60 mins holding onto the lead, we’ve not been in that position for a while and the nerves were evident – that needs to change.

Gutting, but United next and a chance to learn, apply, and do better.

Wardo

Let’s not all speak bollocks cause we’re pissed off bout the result!!

I’ve heard Ancelotti would have been better!!!! Really, what to manage the club fir two years and take us nowhere?????

Then Arteta not bold with this and that!!!! Really, he’s only had two games. What do you expect???

Support the club. We have a good manager and decent youngsters. Few tweaks and we’ll be there

Oh, anyone think Ancelotti would have arrived and changed this to a higher standard by today????? Get real. Ancelotti wouldn’t have made the difference today

DaleDaGooner

Terrible, all that work…..Laca was terrible again but no way should Jorginho be left to play on in this game

When you haven’t won a game for 11 weeks, the first win can be very hard to get.

Leno lost the game for us. He let down the new manager.

The question that needs to be asked in this match is why were Arsenal unable to sustain a level of performance going into the second half. Sure Chelsea improved but Arsenal were allowing them to improve as well. Giving up space, giving up territory, losing 50/50 challenges in the second half which wasn’t seen in the first half. You can’t have the mentality right from the start of the second half which Arsenal had today that we hold what we have got. That we will try to hang onto this 1-0 lead right from the 2nd half. Of course it… Read more »

I get that everyone is really disappointed with the result but the criticism is beyond ridiculous lol We outplayed them in the first half and had a deserved lead. In the second half we defended but we did so extremely well. What short memories people have. If this game had come 5 weeks ago we’d have been absolutely fisted. For all Chelsea’s huff and puff we restricted them to only a few chances for the entire game until the nonsense at the end Jorginho should’ve been off so we’d be a man up and a goal up with 20 odd… Read more »

Well said TR7 as the original quote was yours

The backpass

Lol, some people actually think that we deserved something in this match..

RGG

Why did we show next to no ambition to get a 2nd but once they equalised we throw Pepe on and go hell for leather….2mins later we are losing……

Hope Arteta learns quick. Lampard tactically chewed him up and spat him out today. Recognised he got setup totally wrong and changed it….all Chelsea from there….Arteta had nothing new to offer.

Ref was a cunt too.

Marko

Promising signs in the first half especially that it looked like a lot of the players were buying into what Arteta wanted from them. I would say that there was a performance by practically all of them bar Lacazette. But Arteta gets criticism for not changing the one player who disappointed today. How Lacazette got 90+ mins today while Pepe got 6+ injury time is frankly ridiculous. The stroppy midget is becoming a real problem for the club. He’s looks disinterested he’s moody and he’s not performing to a minimum standard that we currently need to get ourselves out of… Read more »

Said all along Ancelotti was the man. Arteta should have changed things way before he did. Looked stunned. Yes the ref was a jerk and our keeper error prone again. But for 70% of the game, we were overrun and our coach did nothing. Ozil never had a sniff of the ball and gave up. After the Mancs game, we could be near the bottom three. And Arteta is not the man to turn us around. Absolutely grieving again.

Spanishdave

Chelsea got away with rotational fouling the ref did nothing , and would not give a second yellow.
Leno missed the catch and nobody on the back post. Schoolboy stuff.
Big rebuild.
15 now without a win, club record?

Jeff

Dare we mention that old friend we haven’t heard from since Wenger left? He goes by the name of “Mental Strength”. If I was Arteta I’d wheel that in right about now. That’s what happens when you lose your bottle even though it happened late in the game. Against the better teams it can kill you even in the last dying second. We ran faster, and showed more desire particularly in the first half. But then, though slower than usual, our battery began to drain and by hook or by crook Chelsea (having played shit for most of it) came… Read more »

Not giving the 2nd yellow isn’t even entirely on the ref (who is a corrupted piece of shit). VAR can check potential red card decisions. Nobody bothered to check cause they are all corrupted piece of shit. ‘Leno lost the game for us. He let down the new manager.’ That is an obscenely reductionist assessment. If Emery had done what Arteta did in that second half this placed would be dripping in ‘good ebenings’ and other insults. We set up well, great first half, but he sat and watched Arsenal fall to pieces in terms of possession and work rate in the second half and did nothing. You got call it as it is. Poor in game performance from Arteta. Whether you think that is inexperience is beside the point. It is still a fact. Chelsea had… Read more »

The problem was, once our energy levels dropped, Chelsea’s superior technique took control of the game.

We were not able to keep possession of the ball and this is the part of the game that Arteta needs to work on.

People think it’s all about work and effort but today proves that it’s not.

Composure on the ball , intelligence, patience and technique won Chelsea the game today and of course a bent referee and a dreadful error by our keeper.

Goona

Its inexcusable that they don’t have the fitness to last 90mins, regardless of ability.

James wood

Pepe is not at this level about as dangerous as an unloaded Water Pistol.
Laca really looks old seems everything is an effort .
Maitland no pace when turned liability.

Guen really needs to grow up petty stupid fouls and a big mouth.
Otherwise a better performance??????

Receding Hairline

Once Lampard made the change first half we couldn’t cope.

But Jorginho should not have been on the pitch to score.

Horrible defending by Mustafi for the second goal but he is probably still suffering from the collision. Horrible from Leno who looked a tad bit arrogant all game.

We tried to win it early, should have gone 2-0 up but we didn’t manage the game well second half. We didn’t react to the danger signs.

Fans leaving after the second goal was not nice to see.

Dissenter

Lacazette tried his best too. It just didn’t happen for him

In the second half we defended but we did so extremely well

No we didn’t. We lost a 1 nil lead and lost 2-1

Performance wise there have been some positives the last week or so, probably deserved four points from the last two and today the first half was very good. So much wrong with the second half though between the timing of the changes, the likes of Lacazette being left on with smoke coming out of his arse and the complete surrender of initiative and attempting to camp out and defend the lead. Leno mistake was the moment that turned it though, could very well be singing an entirely different tune now remember. Huge job for Arteta turning this around, time will… Read more »

Can’t fault this loss on Arteta.

Mustafi should have fouled Abraham on the half way line.

We were poor in the second half and Ozil disappeared the moment Chelsea changed formation.

Lacazette should not be a started. He doesn’t offer enough to justify his inclusion.

Ishola70

Arsenal gave up the midfield in the second half which was so disappointing to see in comparison to the first half.

They just kept on retreating and retreating and this was done right from the start of the second half.

And this was all because the mentality throughout the team was to hold onto a 1-0 lead with a whole 45 minutes of football still to be played.

Alex James

Bernd Leno has made more errors leading to goals than any other player in the Premier League since August 2018 (seven). BBC stats

Aussie Gooner

Sorry but the substitutions (or lack thereof) were very late period Emery like. When it was obvious even to Blind Freddie that Chelsea were getting the upper hand Arteta did not make the appropriate changes. Bad luck with the Chambers injury and very inconsistent refereeing contributed but the buck has to stop with Arteta. And Abu ran his socks off today!

Champagne charlie

You back to cast aspersions on Arteta, that’s cute.

Who was it you wanted in charge again?

Absolutely mental to not hook of Nelson and Laca at some point earlier, would have probably even kept Ozil on.. Guess that’s what we’re gonna have to deal with, hope the manager learns from it… Both players looked absolutely knackered

If Auba jumps ship in January, I might actually start to fear relegation.

TR7,

You wouldn’t be able to understand any high level analytical comment. Even something as simple as ‘We were Comprehensively outplayed for the large part’ has you stumped.

Cesc Appeal

Lacazette shouldn’t be starting.

Give Arteta the benefit because we’re not in January yet, but if he’s just going to err on the side of experienced players a la Ljungberg then I don’t see the point.

SP

We played well only for the first 30-35 mins . Chelsea dominated the rest of the game.
Ozil once again needs to be dropped to the bench. Playing well for 30 mins and then sleeping on the pitch is of no use.

Laca was horrible. He should have been submitted and Nelson should have stayed.
Poor tactics by Arteta.

Going to be tough against Utd as the players look dead on their feet. Ref bottled by not giving Jorginho a second yellow. Leno mistake, Mustafi making two mistakes for the second goal. Arteta at fault for not being Pépé on for Lacazette ten minutes earlier.

Need to find another 12-15 points and survive the season. Some decent performances. Luiz the standout for me. Auba, Torreira Özil, AMN all good. Guendouzi poor.

Feels like six points dropped. Real kick in the teeth. Have to praise Abraham though.
He’s got facets to his game our strikers don’t.

Dissenter

Cesc
I think you’re underestimating the psychological knocker punch conceding a goal like that can have on a team that has not won a home game in 11 weeks.
Leno was surrounded by 4 Arsenal defenders and COMPLETELY lost track of a simple cross.

Nothing reductions about it, sometimes the game boils down to one mistake. That goal took the wind out of our sails. When a team is low on confidence, there’s very limited memory of good stings.

Redtruth

Bernd Leno has made seven errors directly leading to an opposition goal in the Premier League since the beginning of last season, the most of any player.

raptora

Refs came in the 2nd half with a mission. They didn’t give the 2nd yellow that was blatantly obvious 100% card. They didn’t give a foul on Ozil when their player played with the ball after fouling Mesut’s right foot. They gave Chelsea a throw-in when it was obvious that AMN tackled the ball into a Chelsea player. Chelsea’s goal wasn’t even checked for a foul by Jorginho on Torreira but for some offside?!??!?!

Joe

CC

Allegri or Poch.

China1

Joe out of interest what specifically do you think Ancelotti would’ve done differently to get us the win?

We restricted them to very few scoring opportunities. Their first goal was a totally freak mistake and scored by a player who should’ve been sent off.

What smarts do you think Ancelotti might have used to make sure Jorginho gets the red he deserves and Leno never makes a mistake in a football game for the entire duration of his time as arsenal manager….?

Pierre

Ishola
“Arsenal gave up the midfield in the second half which was so disappointing to see in comparison to the first half.”

Maybe a deep lying playmaker might have helped.

TR7

Chelsea have better players than us and they have played well away from home. We dropped our energy level too after giving our everything in the first 60 mins. So it wasn’t a surprise we were not up to the races in the 2nd half. As for subs, Pepe was the only real option available on the bench. We can debate whether Laca should have been subbed off but Arteta does seem to have some reservations about Pepe, so that’s that. I wish we had Martinelli available today. He would have been a like for like replacement for Laca.

Joe

So we are backing to blaming the refs like Pierre did under wenger?

Red he’s also made more saves than any other keeper

It’s a lot easier to keep clean sheets and make less mistakes when you aren’t the busiest keeper in the whole league for 18 solid months.

Cesc Appeal

Dissenter No, it’s a stupid proposition. You’re just facing away from a second half Chelsea basically dominated, the free kick leading to that goal came after unrelenting pressure for 5 – 10 minutes a lazy and tired unsuccessful attempt at shielding from a clearly gassed ST and then a gassed tackle from that ST to give away the free kick. That story of out of it was true of about half the team in that second half. Arteta’s in game management was seriously poor today. But lump it on the GK by all means, that will help going forward. Arsenal are a mess. Arteta has no clue as he’s never had to manage a team before.

Yeah would love to get rid of Lacazette at this stage, definitely has regressed and even at his best for us he wasn’t a prolific goalscorer.

Pouty fellow as well, doesn’t inspire much in his team mates when things aren’t going our way.

Not keen on Volland as a replacement exactly but he’d be an improvement on Laca in his current state.

Ishola70

Pierre
”Maybe a deep lying playmaker might have helped.”

If a team as a whole retreats so much then a deep lying midfielder is irrelevant.

The deep lying midfielder retreats with them as well.

Your anger about the result makes sense but your doomsday apocalypse analysis is ludicrous

There are flat out obvious improvements in our performance but as long as we lost then your tingling for Ancelotti feels vindicated and you’re going off on here like a complete tool lol

Marko… yeah I know man… you know me.. it has never been all about the manager you have to have the players as well. We still didn’t deserve to lose on a horrible keeper error. This is only Arteta’s second game, people questioning his appointment need to get a grip. The first half was excellent and a huge improvement on how we used to play under Emery. The signs are there already as far as I’m concerned that given time and significant investment to overhaul our defence we will get top 4 next season.
