A very quick post from me this morning as I am heading in for my first game of the MIKEL ARTETA ERA GET IN CAN’T WAIT WOOO #1 FAN OVER HERE WITH THE A4 BANNER SAYING #ARTETAIN!
I have no idea what to expect. The manager is dealing with something of an injury crisis, we could be missing a lot of players today. Tierney, Kola and Sokratis are certainly out. There are also doubts over Gabriel, Holding, Ceballos and Hector… there also might be questions over whether Xhaka plays if his mind is on the Hertha Berlin move.
The players he did have ready trained on the pitch yesterday. I like that. For no reason. If Emery had done it I’d have lodged a complaint with the local council, Arteta does it, I find it the sort of elite thinking a progressive young coach should be showcasing.
Chelsea are in a bit of a mess at the moment. They followed up a super defeat of Spurs with a shocking show against lowly Southampton. Some of their fans are predictably on his back, but I think the bleating will be ignored, Chelsea are building up with kids and shit performances are part of the deal there.
Arteta spoke about getting his players to think quicker and work harder off the ball. We saw a taste of that against Bournemouth, today, I hope that continues. I’m looking to see good structure, I’m hoping that against a really good counter-attacking team, we can concentrate, and I’m hoping the players put it in until the very end. Wouldn’t it be great to see us pressing for a second game in a row? I’m living for it.
I think we’re up against it today, it’s going to be hard to extract anything from the game, but at the moment, I’m just looking for progress as we build to a brighter future. A win would be exciting though, can’t say it hasn’t passed my mind.
It’s absolutely freezing out, so if you’re going, wrap up warm and hope the football on show gives us an added boost of warmth.

Nelson is the biggest weakness in there and shouldn’t be nowhere the starting 11..Laca also has been wank for sometime now.

Lacazette as ST again meaning our Aubameyang has to go wide. Lacazette plays better at home but he really needs to step it up today.
I never thought Id be agreeing with Pierre but posters expecting a win because Chelsea lost to Saints at the Bridge need to have a talk with themselves a bit. Saints put in best performance of the season and Chelsea missed a few key players that day. The real indication what Chelsea can do was the Tottenham game where their midfield bossed the game and starved Spurs of the ball. As for Chelsea my doubts on here that they would play Jorginho proved correct. He is dropped again just like he was against Spurs Also the thought that Mount would return to the side proved correct. Chelsea have the same side as against Spurs minus Emerson for Marcus Alonso who is injured.
Just have to dig in for this one.
With the exception of Pepe I guess Arteta has no other choice !

Receding, Cesc and others are not saying they expect a win; they’re saying they expect a performance and a result, and they are pushing back against all of the this-season-is-a-write-off, improvements-in-this-or-that-aspect-of-our-play-is-good-enough talk.
So, we couldn’t beat Bournemouth but we can beat Chelsea. And why the confidence? Home advantage could see us edge it but my God that line up just about have too many poor players,literally half of them shouldn’t be doning the shirt and absolutely need flushing out ASAP.

This season is a write off and anyone expecting Arteta to turn this club around within a week is being unrealistic.
Any talk of top four – something I have seen from posters on here – is just crazy talk.
Although Chambers had good games I fear him one on one with any of the front Chelsea players.

We have a top 4 squad with one of the best coaches around. I disagree. In case you haven’t noticed, Chelsea are no where near what they were.
We’re at home, so a win is very possible.
It’s early days for Arteta but the situation is what it is. He’s had a bit of time with the players now, so we must not lose this.
Emery should have been sacked after Baku.
Top 4 this season is an unrealistic target.
Arteta should have a few months at least until being fairly judged. Some were judging Emery as early as August so 3 months is a fair amount of time to see where Arteta is taking us.
I’d like to see us not concede 25 attempts on goal today.
Improving our xG and xGA trends is the order of the day.

Tom I agree there is no chance for top four — we don’t have good enough players for that — but I think we should still expect results (against teams 7-20) to begin coming at a certain point in the near future, and I think we should be aiming for and expecting a top 8 finish.
