Don Raul sliding into Poch’s DMs?

by .

The BIG news hitting the Twitter waves last night was the Sami Mokbel story about Poch being on the out. An exit plan has been touted and the internal noise is the team is bracing for the sweet long goodbye.

If Jose Mourinho looked sexy to Don Raul, surely the idea of stealing Spurs most successful manager since 1745 would be the coup of the century?

The Spurs manager could be the Sol Campbell move of 2019. He speaks great English, his players love working with him, and he’s dragged Spurs to a European Cup final working on beans.

Arsenal would represent a bigger club. They’d back him with more money. Arsenal’s postcode means he wouldn’t need to move.

Sure, he’d have to wear a bullet proof vest. He’d not be able to walk the streets alone. He might have a pigs head thrown at him.

… but that’s show business baby.

I know it is highly unlikely we’d make a move as bold as that, but damn, there’s no coach more suited to picking up this current Arsenal squad than him ‘if’ he comes onto the market.

Players would pay attention to him, the guy has sauce and builds great relationships with players. The fact he’s kept so much talent there underpaid tells you all you need to know about his ability to create, sell, and manage a vision. His football is high octane pressing. Sure, it’s not Thomas Tuchel levels of tactical fluidity, but his football is built for the Premier League and a huge step up from Emeryball. Ultimately, if he becomes available, there’s no better coach in the world for a midseason switch.

I’d say, fuck the sabattical, come to the Arsenal and we will treat you like a king.

Fuck Spurs.

Also, I LOVE that the managers they are being linked to are Carlo, Eddie Howe and a Nagelsmann. Beautiful.

Some Spanish papers are reporting that Enrique is lining up the Arsenal job. A little more Raul, a little more the mates network. That would be so on brand for Raul. Would be £14m a year badly spent in my opinion. Let’s hope that noise is simply Enrique’s PR people desperately muddying the waters in the hope someone will bite on the rotten bait.

Someone that’s certainly making noises in the press is LTs agent. He’s making life hard for Emery because he feels affronted that he’s being used like a square peg in a bonfire. Can’t disagree if I’m honest.

That said, I struggle with LT in the Premier League. He’s very small and he doesn’t counter that with Kante like power and pace. He’s a little lost in our team and I fear he’s not a fit for the cold weather of the UK. That said, he had a great game last night for Uraguay. How can you judge any DM in an Unai Emery system playing as a 10?

What a last sentence that was. Reread it. That’s Arsenal 2019 baby.

New topic.

I think the Arsenal equivalent of finding out a relative is a racist on the internet is following someone on Twitter, thinking they’re a beast analyst for pointing out Emery’s weaknesses, then suddenly realizing this analytical prowess wasn’t there when Wenger was the coach. It’s quite spectacular that some of these data people spent 10 years ignoring the obvious, now they’re out here conducting their Advanced Analytics PHD on ousting Emery.

Staggering lack of self-awareness.

Anyway, I don’t know why I started off on that? I think I read someone complaining that the .com had not offered up congrats to Wenger on his new job ‘managing world football.’ Now, let me explain this once, and once only.

Arsenal.com people know that Wenger wanted to get back into football. They worked with him daily. They heard the stories, saw the man in action, followed his life in great detail.

Wenger, sadly, has resorted to taking a ceremonial desk job at the most corrupt organisation in the western world.

The reason the .com didn’t celebrate his job is because it would have been disrespectful.

It’d be like getting fired from your global operations role at Nike, struggling to find a job for 16 months, then having the main Nike Twitter handle congratulate you on your new job as a bin man..

Still, at least the fans would be saying, ‘HE RUNS GLOBAL BINS BRUH HE’S ON TOP OF THE WORLD.’

Right, on that note, I’m still promoting my podcast.

Listen. It’s a good one.

Graham Thanks , I will. I think that what the events at Arsenal( and united) are proving , is that it is very difficult to reach the pinnacle of success and maintain it . How many times has it been said on here that all we need is a good management team to replace Wenger and it would cure all our ills….how wrong you were. I always said that our 3 trophies in 4 seasons will go down as a successful period in Arsenal’s history , and that was the time when planes were flying with banners , marches outside… Read more »

If the Spud’s players love Le Poch then why are Alderweireld, Vertonghen and Eriksen all looking to leave on a free?

Been saying this since the end of last season. Emery is messing this guy around. He’s a top little midfielder. Best we’ve got right now for me. We need to utilise him properly. Just astonishing how we are wasting Torreira

Marc

Benitez would be a terrible hire for West Ham. The fans will love him for a handful of matches whilst they stop conceding 3 goals every match they’ll then be on his case for drab football.

They’ll call him the Spanish Allardyce.

Marc

Pedro

So they love cash more than Le Poch?

Marko

Poch is going through the exact same thing Klopp did at Dortmund before he moved on.

He didn’t go straight into a new job though. He wasn’t sacked midseason he took some time. Luckily this whole thing is pointless and not going to happen so the argument is pointless. He’s absolutely not a safe bet by the way. How could someone about to be sacked by perennial underachievers Spurs and someone with zero trophies to his name be considered a safe bet? It’s very possible that he’s peaked already in his career.

Marc

Danny Rose as well Pedro – saying he’s going to run his contract down.

Marko

If the Spud’s players love Le Poch then why are Alderweireld, Vertonghen and Eriksen all looking to leave on a free?

Can’t blame them wanting to leave some of them have been there long enough. Question should be why are some obviously talented players not playing well for Poch. That’s what I’d be concerned about.

Marc

Marko

Klopp had also won something.

They’ll always be a question mark over Le Poch until he picks up a trophy.

“I am never going to be manager of Barcelona or Arsenal,” he told reporters at his weekly press conference. “That is my decision – I prefer to work on my farm in Argentina than in some places.”

I’m sure Mourinho has never dissed us this hard! I want Nuno.

Distant legrover

Marco Rose certainly looks interesting. Never lost at home as the head coach of Red Bull Salzburg (reminds me of old Mourinho). His team scored 269 goals in his 3 seasons as the coach, with a goal difference of +181 . With a win percentage of 71%.

At Monchengladbach now in his first season with a 58% win percentage.

Very specific numbers there!! You keeping your note pad handy?

Un na naai

We’re now 8 points behind Man City, 17 points off the top of the table in November, and our points per game is now at an average of 1.4. That puts us on course for a finish around 54 points which last season would have enough for an 8th place finish, but whether or not we finished above Everton would have depended on goal difference. Right now, ours is at -1, a marker we share with 10th place Burnley. We’re closer to 17th placed Aston Villa than we are to the top four. Grim reading that!! But here we are.… Read more »

After the City game, which puts our negative goal difference in double figures, the club brief David Ornstein to say that while they do recognise results aren’t quite up to snuff, there’s a more realistic view of what’s happening at board level because they understand stuff better than the plebs in the stands and those cretins watching at home. The club extend Emery’s contract after the match, saying the 11 minutes we went without conceding showed incredible promise.

Arseblog today was hilarious 😂 😂
Bang in the money though. These fuckers don’t care about the fans at all.

Marko

I’ll be honest it’s pretty embarrassing reading some of the stuff you get on here an Arsenal blog when it comes to Poch especially considering that if you were to go onto some Spurs ones no doubt that shine has gone from Poch for a lot of them. Very odd that Arsenal fans would have him in such a high regard

It shows how ignorant and disrespectful fans can be and what short memories they have .

You would ha e thought that spurs fans would have learnt from the mistakes that the embarrassment the WOBS brought to the Arsenal and how we are floundering under new management.

He’s a German coach who has managed 11 games so far in Bundesliga and is top of the league with Moechengladbach although he will probably end up fifth come the seasons end where Moechengladbach finished last season prior to him joining. As you were.

Before that he managed Salzburg in the Austrian League. A league where Salzburg have dominated as a one team league for nearing a decade or so.

Ishola70

Surely people have to wait on Rose.

This is ridiculous over-rating of him.

Poch would be a definite upgrade on Emery but how much of an upgrade is hard to tell (’cause likely it will never happen). His English is not great. Better than Emery’s sure but definitely not great. Still remember him talking through a translator in his first season or two which is frankly an embarrassment. At least Emery tries. Ishola70

Marko

He has only managed in his whole career eleven Bundesliga matches.

Eleven.

Are you telling me we shouldn’t have some caution and see how the rest of the season pans out for him?

Eleven Bundesliga matches Marko in his whole career to date.

His previous job Salzburg have been a one man team in Austria for a very long time.

Un na naai

Marko

Yeah. Maybe a poor choice if words but I was emotionally charged reading about it.
My point is that I hope she’s somewhere better. That her consciousness has continued and she’s happy.
Not that she was taken early and that’s it. I know you’re a nihilist but I’d hope for something more for any child taken so early. It’s a topic very dear to me.

Ishola70

You see people are happy to go apeshit over a manager that has only overseen eleven matches in one of the top european leagues in his whole career to date but are more than eager to dismiss another manager’s work over a three to four year period.

Marko

has worked Spurs into top 4 on pitiful transfer outlay

As of right now under Poch Spurs have spent nearly 450 million euros on players. Way way way too much is made of Spurs not signing anyone in ONE summer transfer window and ONE winter window.

salparadisenyc

Anybody that can get Spurs into a European final should be minted.

Along with that Poch would come with premier league experience, tactically a good fit. Spurs play that fast paced brand, pressing in the smallest of spaces at times functioning like a clock and at times going full Spursy. Which has to be forgiven, turning pond water to wine has to up there w/ the trickiest of feats.

Optically its the hardest 10 out there, imagine the banter. All hail Don Raul if that came off.

Un na naai

Ishola

Come on, who would you want to replace emery? Who’s your shout? Money to mouth time.

Ishola70

I have already said Nagelsmann.

Marko

Ishola again give us some names give us something from you as to what you would like us to do because right now you say little by way of a solution. I personally would like Rose because he’s highly rated and currently doing a good job and in a sphere where a highly rated but non manager assistant coach gets talked up why not an actual up and coming manager. I’ve yet to see him get overrated

Marko

So one name. Not quite a fountain of knowledge Ishola if you can only come up with one name. Besides there careers are very similar to date

Ishola70

Poch and Nagelsmann at this precise time are better candidates than Rose.

The hyprocrisy of it all.

We had people laughing off Arteta but now a coach who has only overseen eleven Bundesliga matches in his whole career is the true bees knees.

CG

What is without question.

Spurs are now the bigger club.

Certainly they are bigger in terms in ambition.

Newer and grander stadium than Arsenal

And now only 12 games after they reached the CL final – looking to upgrade their highly rated coaching team.

Meanwhile at the Zombie Club- we persist with this disastrous Clown

Make no Mistake – the damage to the Arsenal brand and reputation has been incalculable after this Emery experience

I doubt it will ever recover.

Ishola70

How are their careers similar Marko?

Nagelsmann has earned his stripes and this is why he is managing one out of the two best Bundesliga teams right now.

He earned those stripes coaching Hoffenheim for three whole seasons.

What stripes has Rose earned managing Moechengladbach for eleven matches in comparison?

Marko

The hyprocrisy of it all.We had people laughing off Arteta but now a coach who has only overseen eleven Bundesliga matches in his whole career is the true bees knees.

Oh my God. Right so if you can’t see the difference between an assistant who’s never managed a game before getting talked up and a manager who’s managed 130+ games already and who’s won over 90 games and who has a win percentage of 71% and 58% so far then I can’t help you. Literally no comparison to be made with Arteta and Rose. No hypocrisy

Gentlebris

Enrique managing Spain…..what an absolute relief.

Ishola70

Answer the other questions Marko

Why are you saying Nagelsmann and Rose are similar?

Ishola70

Joe Bloggs could take Salzburg to the Austrian title.

Arteta would stroll to the title with Salzburg in Austria lol

Ishola70

Rose could be the next big thing but you don’t hide up his rectum after just eleven Bundesliga matches in his whole career to date.

Give it a bit of time.

Un na naai

Ishola is so negative he’s making marko look like a beam of light.

Ishola70

You are one of Poch’s biggest fans.

You were cheering his side on in the CL last season.

Now you want a rookie Bundesliga manager over your fav Poch man?

Un na naai

Ishola

We know you got burned badly when you backed emery and now you’re wary but just being critical of everyone and everything only serves to illustrate how little footballing insight you actually offer
Anyone can be critical in hindsight

Un na naai

Ishola

Nope
I’m not hip enough to know anything about marko rose. You won’t find me clamouring for him just yet

It’s brendan or arteta for me as things stand.
If not then allegri or Jose

I don’t know enough about the next big things from Germany to wave my pom-poms for them.

Gentlebris

Un,

Equating Emery’s sauce to that of a McDonald’s manager is a general insult to McDonald’s managers, and I think you should apologize.

Marko

How are their careers similar Marko?Nagelsmann has earned his stripes.

Similar amount of games managed by them 131 to 150 odd so their careers are similar. Nagelsmann might be a little ahead because he’s got more experience in a stronger league but Rose has a far superior win rate goals scored and all that shit

Ishola70

Don

I backed Emery for a period even though I gave my reservations about him on here when he was first appointed. Also the backing was to wind up the silly Wengerites on here.

That’s what fans usually do. Give a chance.

What did you do in comparison? No backing at all right from beginning to end?

That’s really good stuff Don.

Un na naai

I quite like Thiago Motta at Genoa though. Seems to have his finger on the pulse and I’m interested in how he develops

Ishola70

Doesn’t add up really Marko.

As well as Rose managing in an inferior league to Nagelsmann he also was in charge at Salzburg who tend to dominate that Austrian League whoever is coaching them.

Un na naai

Ishola

No mate. You defended every stupid decision he’s made for 18 months until the last two weeks because you literally couldn’t any more. Only Bamford is still fighting his corner and that’s just to be a contrarian.

Let’s not pretend you “gave him a chance” for 2-3 months

Yeah alright Don.

Even though I said for an age that Emery’s unbeaten run last season was being over-rated I have only just stopped backing him recently.
