Nacho Goes-Real?

by .

Poor old Unai, even Danny Murphy is jumping in with the two footed special.

“Alright, Arsenal had a tight four and it was hard [to break down] but you can’t play against a top team and let them get so high up the pitch so easily in wide areas, especially with the full-backs they’ve got.

“If you go to Liverpool every year and get done, why not try something different? It looked like a system that had been put on a board and they hadn’t worked on it.”

I think the above is a fair point, but honestly, have you watched Liverpool?

Push up against their pace and you’re fucked. Sit deep against their technical prowess and you’re fucked. There are very few ways Emery was going to get out of that game alive with two ghastly errors from his lead center-back.

It’s frustrating that we have to play second fiddle against teams, even after the manager has blown a huge amount of cash, but the reality is we’re still in a rebuilding process… the deeper worry is that even when this squad is settled, I’m not sure peak-Emery is taking it to the promised land. That said, we’re in great company, because United and Chelsea look frail.

For now though, I’m quite content that we executed a fairly ok game plan, against a world-class team.

Spurs on the other hand are not so world-class. Their squad is under attack from clubs around Europe, their two best defenders have had their heads turned and the coach looks utterly furious. I think most people must realise he’s coming to the end of his cycle, if the players feel that, they’re in big trouble this year.

We have to attack their weaknesses this weekend, there’s no better time to get at them.

Let’s see what Unai has to offer.

In other news, it seems like Monreal is going to be granted an exit to Real Soceidad. Interestingly, the club are apparently going to waive the fee so we can land first option on a number of prospects in their ranks. That’s very smart and again, a new type of transfer strategy we’ve not seen before.

Back to the player. I’d be very sad to see the Spaniard go. He’s been an underrated gladiator for Arsenal over the years. He’s reliable, productive and has always had a superb attitude. I think everyone is a little uneasy that Kola is going to be our left-sided option for at least the next 6 weeks.

Rumours are that Tierney doesn’t join full training for at least a month. That’ll mean 2-3 weeks until he rejoins the first team. Then he has to adapt to a faster league. We could be in need of him, so there’s the risk of a rush and return to injury that sets him back again.

It’d also be great if Nacho was mentoring Tierney.

… still, we’ve splurged an horrendous amount of cash this summer, moving people off the wage bill has to be a priority at some point.

GOOD NEWS THAT HOLDING SHOULD RETURN AFTER THE BREAK.

Right, see you in the comments. x

Chris i personally thought we should have gone for Conte. Yes he has this legal thing with Chelsea which may complicate things but he is a winner and a level above Allegri

Distant legrover

Kos knew that he couldn’t handle another rumble tumble in the league, homeboy had aged faster than Barack obama. He was especially scared of another Anfield trip so he ran.

Personally I think that man deserve a trophy cuz he saved Arsenal a 60 goal conceded season.

Stop crying about his departure.

“RH, Emery’s football is one gripe of many.”

Is there anything positive about Emery Pedro?? Anything at all?? This garbage manager how has he operated for years as a coach if he is indeed total garbage?? How does he win matches against good football coaches and even bad ones?? Garbage is below bad you see ….how did he arrive at one of the most competitive leagues in Europe with a squad many didn’t rate and finish just a point below Pochettino and two below Sarri (special managers).

You can continue dismissing Rafa, or whoever else, in defence of Emery.

Eh sure. Defence is it? Sure. Killing it again Charles.

How many Arsenal fans would swap places with Juve as a dominant domestic side who challenge on the continent with an apparent issue of pragmatic football that doesn’t entertain?

We aren’t entertaining to watch and we’re an irrelevance domestically, and in the Sunday league version of European football.

Of course the usual suspects would hang on ‘Allegri plays boring football so he’s no better than Emery’. Incredibly dim

Conte is proven no doubt and I wouldn’t have been upset if we had taken him, out it that way.

Where I would have had doubts would have been if he was willing to work within the structure we have now, given his struggles in his last year at Chelsea.

I would be surprised if given the choice (if there were such a thing) any sensible Arsenal fan would choose to retain Emery over hiring Allegri. Emery ain’t half as bad as some say he is, but Allegri is simply better.

“Juventus are not a dominant domestic side because of Allegri..keep up“

He was there 5 years and won the league 5 times, the Italian cup 4 times, the shit Italian cup 2 times.

He lacks communications skills Adrien Rabiot on Emery: “Blanc had certain things going for him, but I think Emery is a little closer to the players. Agree Chris, but some provide evidence almost daily of their total lack of sensibility. I imagine whoever the next manager is will be scrutinised hard by those militantly defending Emery at present. As you say, Allegri is a step up but look at some of the comments at the mention of him.

Chris i for one rate Allegri higher than Emery purely based on his ability to organize a defense, but we are not dominating English football with him in charge, not if Pep and Klopp still have jobs in England. Nor are we playing exciting football.

8 titles on the spin Conte won 5 trophies in his 3 seasons there and got them rolling. Even Gentlebris and his approach to management would yield results over there. Bit early to call Torreira a mistake imo, but he’s trending that way in much the same manner Xhaka does for suitability.

Kante was the reference for short players, but Torreira doesn’t have those sort of legs on him and that ability to cover the ground. Both him and Xhaka suffer for rapid 5-10 yard movement which is killer in the prem.

People just make things up to sound informative even when informations online say otherwise. Sampdoria primarily work with a diamond formation in which Torreira acts as the base of the three man midfield. Like a true Wengerite you are only focusing on what Sampdoria did when Torreira was there when they had the ball.

When they didn’t have the ball and were defending on many occasions Torreira wouldn’t sit as a old fashioned DM at all. He would go further up to press and another midfielder would sit just behind him.

He also goes hunting and pressing in centre mid for Uruguay when they are on defensive mode.

Ishola, It’s not Pierre’s imagination that Torreira was sitting deep as DM during the unbeaten run. After Emery did try to experiment to move him further up back to the role he used to play at Sampdoria and Uruguay. He was trying to find a new formula without Özil and Ramsey.
