What will Ozil do?

by .

Ohhhhh come on, still salty about that Jose comment? Forgive me, you know I only have eyes for the pristine haired one.

Onto TODAY.

Two people have been charged for an incident at Mesut’s home. I hope it’s Fortnite related, you know what those gaming lunatics are like.

‘You stole my skin’

Ten minutes later, the flying squad’s at your damn door threatening to shoot. It’s called Swatting, Derek, look it up.

Jokes aside, this is no joke-able matter. The two names sounded very Turkish… which, call me mental, seems to weirdest thing to do. It’s like me finding UK based New Yorkers and terrorising them with really witty tweets. I just wouldn’t do it.

Anyway, whatever the weirdness is about, I hope the punishment is swift and strong. Like a Kolasinac left-jab.

Big question on everyone’s lips is this: Will the fracas make Ozil think twice about hanging around this year? Or will he take that move to Washington D.C.?

We’ll see. He’s a great player, hopefully, the good preseason form can carry us through the season. It’d be great to see him play in a system that’s loaded with pace and ball carriers. Kind of feel this is something a little like United fans thinking any player they sign is going to help unlock Pogba, but whatever, an on-form Mesut is a force. I would also hate to think anyone could be bullied out of London.

Auba, the greatest striker on the planet right now, reckons the partnership with Pepe and Lacazette is going to be crazier than Emanuel Eboue on the touchlines.

“I don’t want to compare it [to other strike partnerships I have been a part of] but it is going to be crazy,”

“Everybody is excited about that. We will have time to play together and we will see. I am looking forward to it.

“The next game we play at home [against Burnley on Saturday] and we will see what is the coach’s decision. It will be difficult for him [to fit us all in] but that’s the game. When you have a good team it is like that and you have to make choices.”

HELL YES IT’LL BE BLOODY MAD MATE.

Get a threeway bromance going, it’s all the rage over here. You can do cool things like only go to bars with round tables. You share Lunchables and only eat one of the three-part snack. You can also do way fun Insta Stories stuff as well.

Key thing though… goals and assists. That’s what we need.

We also need more of Unai Emery living menacingly in a hood (trolling Mesut) cheering big JOE WILLOCK for making BIG BOY TACKLES on JONJO SHELVEY.

I’m welling up. He loves to PUT IT UP THEM. What a talent I think we might have.

Hard truth is this: We’re going to have to shut up and support the kids this season. Starting life in an unsettled team is tough for any level of player, but I think Reiss, ESR, Saka, and Willock could add a lot of value to our season, we just have to be prepared for some stinkers. Kids make errors, they swing in and out of form, but at some point, they come good.

I would love to have them as squad mainstays next season.

SHEESH, I’m forgetting the bag of crazy that is Gabriel. Outrageous pace, huge confidence and loads of rough diamond talent. Most exciting player since Anelka? Hold your horses… but maybe?

I’m pretty sure that’s me done. Why not tune into ANOTHER podcast because I’m crushing them out like a bloody MACHINE this season.

Valentin, I doubt that. Every country has its own fair share of gang trouble. Italy for example does more than this. France too. I haven’t heard much about Spain but am sure they have theirs too.

You should add the 18-year old striker Folarin Balogun to your list.
There are already voices that wants him to get gametime in the Carabao and EL groupstages.

Hopefully a top top prospect coming through

  4. CG

No Suprise our ‘Gerd Muller’- Eddie N scored immediately on his debut yesterday.

    Whoever sanctioned that loan deal.
    Should face instant dismissal.

& Then the Birch. & Then the Blowtorch.

He could have played virtually every game for us this season- either as a late substitute or as back up or in The Loosers Cup.

WHO IN THE RIGHT MIND AT THE CLUB THINKS YOU CAN HAVE A SUCCESSFUL SEASON WITH ONLY X2 CENTER FORWARDS ON YOUR BOOKS?

Modern soccer is all about how good your Center forwards are.

    PEA and Laca.
    And that’s it for us,

    Top 4= NO Chance.

Sheer incompetence or a master plan by The Clown?

I’d rather have just 2 quality out-and-out strikers on the books than 3-4 Welbecks.

We have other players who can play up front, but of course you’ll dismiss this.

    Truth hurts.

  7. Dissenter

It seems the reality of the haves and the have-nots is hitting these professional footballers.
How do you strut around in your £200k custom built Mercedes G63 and 50k Hublot watch and not expect someone to try and claim it off you? Maybe you Londoners have been isolated from the reality of crime for too long.
There’s a reason why sports stars and musicians travel with posses. There’s a reason why people hire their own security. Over here in the states, all the Ozil hubbub would be resolved by a gated community and private security. Even middle class people aspire to live in these communities.
Crime exists everywhere especially to folks who flaunt their wealth.
These lads should sort out their shit and get back to work. Regular people have to deal with more hardship in their daily lives without this much drama.

  8. Dissenter

I also think all these ‘people will avoid coming to the UK’ banter is just crap.
It just means the private security business has gotten a big shot in the arm. Footballers will start taking care of their own security. The bigger stars will try to get it on their contracts.

Ah yes, what a great season that was.

The latter lost in your memory banks yet again.

I know where Ozil lives and for the record there is considerable security operating in the area.

For example two of the most expensive roads in this area where Ozil does not
live are gated with 24 hour security.

The road where Ozil lives has constant 24 hour security patrolling the road.

If you google the latest Daily Mail Article on the subject you get a very different idea of what actually occurred last week. Ozil employed his own
security [by all accounts Turks] as opposed to those used by the rest of the
    road [Gurkhas].

Apparently one of the Turkish Security Guards acted in a very heavy handed
fashion with the two guys who were seen outside Ozil’s property on two separate occasions and that has triggered the major incident and threats.

  11. Dissenter

    Emirates
I saw those photographs at Ozil’s home [why are they even showing the world where he lives]
The first thing that jumped at me was these guys don’t look like regular minders. It seemed Ozil’s Turkish buddies deployed special means to protect him.
I hope we learn the real facts of this incident someday. It doesn’t look like the regular shake down.

  12. Spanishdave

Ozil and Kos are loving it getting paid and sitting at home playing Fortnite.
They love the money but not the work.
As Dissenter said there are a lot of people who have greater hardships and get on with life.
I got threatened once and got the police to deal with it, next day back to work.
I think Ozil will use this to move on .

When did Arsenal become a laughing stock or as you like to put it, ” garbage”?

May 2018, when Mr Emery arrived? Or would it be about seven years earlier?

    Don’t think too hard.

That’s right, we were “garbage” long before señor Emery arrived.

is it not the name of the game – to have x 2 quality strikers and x 3/4 Welbecks to supplement the squad?

Why is it the Great modern managers and their teams
    Jose, Fergie, Wenger, Klopp, Pep

always seem to be stockpiled with forward players?

But the Clown knows best- in your Green Eyes:

And he is happy to run with just the 2 for The Whole Season.

I was being facetious, not sure if I was clear enough.

I went to school with the son of an Uzbek oligarch, been friends for 25 years. He has never been the victim of a violent crime in London. Anyone flush with cash needs to spend an weekend with him to understand how to effectively mitigate against the risk of violence when he’s out and about.

A London club struggling to attract players due to the local crime statistics is as absurd as it gets.

As recently as this summer, we had to endure repeated commentary about the attractiveness of Arsenal being a London club over any other UK city for potential recruits. A couple of 15 year-old moped thieves try and fail to lift Ozil’s watch from his wrist, and now London is a no-go zone.

Maybe the vast majority of London-based le-grovers live in Brixton.

  16. Mysticleaves

Bojangles, that’s nice. Would have thought Australia better than Vietnam as per living and working conditions. You must be getting top dollar there. Vietnam also seems and looks more like tourist place. But I haven’t been there so I don’t really know. One of the places I want to visit is Indonesia. I want to take a selfie with ‘that monkey’ lol. maybe I will add HK and VN to the list

Dissenter, can I just assume you don’t know how gangs work? In Africa it’s more like cult. Once a HIT (and before that, if you are earmarked) is declared on you, you have reasons to be afraid. No matter how rich you are.

Really good debut for Bielik last night in League Cup. For a slow CB, he’s good on the ball and in the air. The right combo. Hope he carries that form into the Championship.

London feels a lot safer than anywhere I’ve been in the states
In London, I don’t have to worry about the police.
Honestly, most Americans I know are flabbergasted the first time they see how your police interact with the public. Over here, YouTube videos are made when. Police decide to jump in and interact with “civilians, yes that’s how they refer to the public these days -‘Civilians’

I can just imagine a young Brazilian or Ivorian footballer rejecting the chance to live in London….”not going because Ozil got robbed”
I bet Ngolo Kante doesn’t get robbed while driving his mini to work. I read that Petr Cech used to take the tube to work while he was at Chelsea.

That’s exactly why it’s unsafe. The police are useless. Couldn’t catch a cold
If you’re vehicle is being broken into they won’t send anyone unless suspects are armed

If your house has been burgled they don’t investigate any more die to such pathetic success rates

They even put it out publicly early last year not to bother calling

My cousin had her house burgled last year while she and her twin toddlers were at home
She got a photo of the scum went to the police and they did nothing. No way of knowing who he is they said

Photo went round Facebook and he was identified by members of the public within 48 hours
Where he hung out. What Tesco’s he robbed from

    Went back to police
    Still they did nothing

He got what he deserved in the end though.

I live in the same district as Ozil and there is unfortunately a significant risk of
the sort of robberies that both Ozil and Kolasinac were subjected to.

My son was subjected to a similar attack to these two in the NW3 area when he was walking home.

I agree with your view that Ozil has not helped his cause, because like too many of today’s footballers in the top clubs he has flaunted his wealth including filming inside of his house.

One of the lessons which current and ex footballers like Beckham need to learn is how to manage better their wealth and not shove it in the faces of the less well off.

Yesterday I highlighted how Liam Brady lived when he was one of best paid
footballers and by all accounts Dennis Bergkamp also lived sensibly when
    he was playing for us.

Perhaps they should good some of the current footballers a lesson how to live
    more sensible lifestyles.

  23. raptora

Yesterday I watched the episode of “Hot ones” with Michael Cera. He told an interesting story that I somehow associated with Ozil and Kola’s situation.

Michael Cera: “A horrible moment for me. I used to live in Los Feliz, Los Angeles. So there is this guy in my neighborhood, stalking me and taking photos of me. This is the only time that has ever happened to me. It was a very strange experience. I was riding around on my bike, he was in his car. And he just wouldn’t stop. He was enjoying my fear. I went up to his window, I shook his hand, I was like “Please stop, you’re really scaring me now, like this is getting really weird”. And he was like “Okay. I totally get it. I’ll leave you alone”. And then he kept doing it. He would be like a little far away in his car. I went into a movie theater, watching a movie from 2 hours and came out, and he was waiting. I was like “Don’t follow me home, man. I don’t want you to know where I live”. At one point I just got off my bike and sat down on the curb and he drove by looking for me. I was like “Dude, this is really stressing me out. Can you stop?”. And then he saw that and stopped, and went away.”

Creepsters are hella disturbing. And it’s just weird man. Cera sounded scared. But it’s nothing even remotely close to what Ozil and Kola went through and keep going through. People with knifes and possibly guns that want to hurt you. I hope that nothing serious is happening but if it is, better move out, find another team and more importantly find life in a place where you and your family will be safer.

Keep calling me an “old goat” and I’ll keep treating you with the disdain you deserve.

You really don’t realise how shite Wenger was( became).

Still unable or unwilling to answer any direct questions. Scared to admit the truth.

I think we are now seeing what a truly great manager Wenger was.

This Club is going to The Dogs- as it stands.

On a one way ticket to Oblivion.

    Mysticleaves

Yes they know that they are filthy rich, but the guys who are doing these robberies and burglaries are focussing on iPads, computers, jewellery, money
    and cars.

In other words they target people with easily disposable expensive items.

You don’t need to wear a £100K watch or be seen using an expensive iPad in
the street. That applies incidentally to a lot of other people who are far less
    rich.

ES, I can’t wear my watch or carry my iPad while am driving IN my car? If I walked into their hood wielding those things it’s different. Y’all should better stop downplaying these occurrences. It’s not about the robbed, it’s about the robbers

  32. Jamie

Try walking around any Italian city without being accosted by vagrants trying to pickpocket you. Doesn’t matter whether you’re wearing a Swatch or a Patek.

Ramsey made a catastrophic error in judgement moving his young family to Turin, what with all the street crime.

  33. Emiratesstroller

    Mysticleaves

Those two moped riders who attacked Ozil and Kolasinac are just as likely to attack the ordinary bloke who lives in Holloway, Archway or Council Estates in
    North London.

They are not selective who they attack. They are after easily disposable items
and for the record there are now gangs roaming around the district looking
for Toyotas and stealing catalytic converters in broad daylight.

What has clearly escalated this particular situation is Kolasinac’s reaction and
the failed attempt. Had the two footballers allowed the robbers to take the watches you would not have heard anything further.

  34. Bob N16

Graham, advise you not to engage the troll.

ES, Brady was my boyhood hero and until Bergkamp came along was on a pedestal all on hi own. Concening his wealth, I suspect he may be mean. Admittedly this is all based on when the Arsenal Museum was being put together, a friend who was instrumental in getting exhibits/ memorabilia told me that Brady was the only player who was approached who refused to donate anything. I was disappointed for my young self!

  35. Pierre

    Man city…6-1 defeat
    Newcastle…5-0 defeat
    Chelsea……..5-0 defeat
    Southampton…6-3 defeat
    Liverpool….4-1 defeat
    Barcelona….4-0 defeat

Must have been a rubbish manager who presided over these defeats.

I think it puts it into perspective and if you had the slightest understanding of competitive sport at the top level then you would know that even the very best managers (Ferguson) suffer heavy defeats.

obviously you don’t have the understanding otherwise you wouldn’t be focusing on the defeats

I can guarantee you that United fans don’t keep harping back to the Newcastle and Southampton thrashings..

  36. Emiratesstroller

    Bob N16

He may be mean, but the feedback I got from Arsenal’s senior management was
that Brady was highly intelligent as well and unlike many of his contemporaries
planned for a future post football.

Most of his contemporaries landed up penniless and drunkards.

Football careers today are of course different, because of the scale of wealth, but also because footballers now get professionals to look after their money.

Nevertheless not all footballers are like Ozil and Beckham and flouting their
    money.

For the record Wenger who was until recently the wealthiest person at the
club had a very modest lifestyle in London. He rented and did not buy the
    property in which he lived.

  37. Pierre

If Wenger did rent it was in a very wealthy area in totteridge in what I would call a mansion….so hardly that modest .

It wasnt as if he was residing in a bed sit.

Does Ozil flout his money , has he got his own aircraft or boat to cruise about in.

The car that they were driving in when they were attacked didn’t look particularly flashy.

How much have we heard about the Spud’s over whelming debt, inability to find anyone willing to pay for naming rights for the new stadium or the 3 first team players who are either going to walk on a free or go for massively reduced fees this summer who now can’t be replaced?

  39. Graham62

    Pierre

    Shite!!!

    Scrapping the barrel now.

    Fergusons abilities compared to Wengers.

MU lost to Southampton 6-3 in 96-97 season but went on to win the league. Same season they lost 5-0 to Newcastle. Meaning they reacted positively to adversity. We( Wenger)accepted it.

Even the season MU lost to Barcalona 4-0 they came so close to winning the PL, losing out to Blackburn on the final day of the season.

All our capitulations were after 2006 when we won fudging zilch, bar that is a couple of devalued FA Cups.

I have enough knowledge and experience of competitive sport to realise that Arsene Wenger became a curse on our club and to compare his achievements and reactions to adversity, shows your limitations in this field.

Bloody hell, you and CG are made for one another.

I know and you know, infact everyone knows, that Sir Alex would not have stayed at OT if MU were not winning things. He would have left on his own accord.

That’s the difference between a true competitor who would never tolerate failure and a deluded clown who accepted it.

    Got it?!?

    No of course you haven’t.

    Truly embarrassing.

  40. Marko

I can guarantee you that United fans don’t keep harping back to the Newcastle and Southampton thrashings..

Yeah because they were fucking successful you thick cunt and Ferguson was the greatest manager of all time. Arsene Wenger suffered embarrassing losses every single season went nearly 10 years trophy less. The fucker had 3 league titles in 22 years. Total fraud not fit to lace Fergies boots but sure let’s reimagine things. What a useless man with idiotic sycophants still

Grannies queuing up at the post office would be shaking their heads in disbelief.

    Shame on you.

  43. Graham62

    Pierre

Sorry but how can you be taken seriously after posting such a naive load of garbage?

You’ve been well and truly found out.

  44. Jamie

“I think it puts it into perspective and if you had the slightest understanding of competitive sport at the top level then you would know that even the very best managers (Ferguson) suffer heavy defeats.”

Outside of the 1990s, Fergie suffered just a 4 humiliating defeats (3 goal margin or more) as far as I can remember – 6-1 loss to City in 2011, 4-1 loss to Liverpool in 2009, 4-1 loss to Middlesbrough in 2005, and 4-1 loss to City in 2004.

During that time, he won the PL 13 times, 5 FA Cups, 2 Champions League titles.

    Wenger heavy defeats:

6-1 loss to Utd in 2001
3-0 loss to Middlesbrough in 2001
5-1 loss to Spurs in 2008
4-1 loss to Chelsea in 2009
8-2 loss to Utd in 2011
Dropping a halftime 4 goal lead to Newcastle in 2011
4-0 loss to AC Milan in 2012
6-3 loss to City in 2013
5-1 loss to Liverpool in 2014
6-0 loss to Chelsea in 2014
4-0 loss to Southampton in 2015
5-1 loss to Bayern in 2015
5-1 loss to Bayern in 2017
Another 5-1 loss to Bayern in 2017
4-0 loss to Liverpool in 2017

Wenger won the PL 3 times, never back-to-back and not since 2004 (for context, Pep is going for his 3rd PL trophy on the bounce), and the FA Cup 7 times

Comparing Wenger to Fergie is embarrassing in the extreme. Keep it up, Pierre.

When you stare at the Wenger posters on your bedroom wall, does he reciprocate the loving gaze as if to ask “who hurt you, son?”

  45. Marko

Forgot about all those community shields too. So he did learn after every embarrassing defeat. FYI Arsene’s last season heavy defeats to Liverpool and City 3 times (twice in one week remember the final) and embarrassing losses to Swansea, Leicester, Newcastle and Brighton. 4-2 to Forest in the cup ouch. Defeat at home to Osterund. Point is even by the end things were still the same. Man never learned was a fraud to the end

  46. Marko

Domestically the 8-2 one was obviously the worst. I mean who concedes 8 goals in a fixture and manages to keep his job. And even though I was at it I’d have to say the Bayern 10-2 is the worst because honestly the whole of Europe saw that one and just laughed. Also shout out to the 6-0 on his 1,000th game as a manager. Truly memorable

5-1 loss to Liverpool in 2014
6-0 loss to Chelsea in 2014
4-0 loss to Southampton in 2015
5-1 loss to Bayern in 2015
5-1 loss to Bayern in 2017
Another 5-1 loss to Bayern in 2017
4-0 loss to Liverpool in 2017”

Just for Pierre. One more time. Couldn’t resist. (lol)

  51. Pierre

    Marko
Is losing to United, Bayern and Chelsea worse than losing

    5- 0 to Newcastle
    6-3 to Southampton.

    Be honest.

Of course , Graham and the other know nothing’s missed my point , which was any team can suffer large defeats , even the greatest ever manager.
We all know that Ferguson was the greatest manager .

  52. Graham62

    Pierre

    Great!

Give me your take on competitive sport and I’ll give you mine tonight when I come back from work.

Based on your last few posts I am intrigued to gauge your knowledge and experience of not only “the game” but competitive sport in general.

Harping back to your master for one second.

You do know that he was never a true competitor?

    Just an illusionist.

Catch up with you later this evening.

  53. Graham62

    Pierre!!!!!( in frigging exasperation)

Yeh but Sir Alex did something about it!!

    Your master didn’t.

    Start writing your piece.

    Can’t wait!

  54. Marc

“Its amazing how much stick I receive on an Arsenal blog for supporting one of our own players and our previous manager.”

Yeah but you’re not supporting Wenger for his achievements prior to 2006 your agenda is that he should still be in charge.

    Give it a fucking rest.

  55. Pierre

And now we have Emery who has now spent nearly 200 million and the most that the know nothing’s expect is he is to compete for 4th place which is exactly what Wenger was criticised for all those years whilst trying to compete against the billions of Chelsea and City.

Emery hasn’t got that problem has he as its more of a level playing field now due to ffp finally coming into effect.

Its no surprise that it’s either been city or Chelsea as premier league champions over the last ten years or so with Leicester as the exception.

  56. Marko

Is losing to United, Bayern and Chelsea worse than losing 5- 0 to Newcastle
    6-3 to Southampton. Be honest.

He has also suffered embarrassing losses to those teams as well. You’re having trouble dealing with this can of worms and that’s okay it can’t be easy to talk about a fraud you admire so much in such a negative way 💔

  57. China1

Pierre, wenger was criticized for aiming for 4th when he had truck loads of cash at his disposal.

He was criticized for intentionally buying cheap, soft players who wouldn’t bleed for the cause

    He was..

You know what. Never mind. You are so willfully ignorant it’s hard to read

  58. Marko

Of course , Graham and the other know nothing’s missed my point , which was any team can suffer large defeats , even the greatest ever manager.

Yeah but not year in year out like Arsene and not declining in fact Fergie despite the occasionally rare heavy defeat was still incredibly successful. Hey you know what maybe there’s a correlation between the amount of heavy and embarrassing defeats Wenger suffered every single season and how much we declined under him and his lack of success. Might be. Could be.

  59. Un na naai

    Marko

He’s our most successful manager ever

  60. China1

I’m not sure there’s any evidence that the undermining of social norms or political correctness has impacted crime so much. But it does match up very closely with the cuts to public spending (including the police)

People voted for austerity years back and they got it.

  61. Pierre

    Marc
“Yeah but you’re not supporting Wenger for his achievements prior to 2006 your agenda is that he should still be in charge.”

    With all respect that’s bullshit..

I wanted pep 5 /6 years ago…but I have said previously and will say it again that Wenger’s last few years will go down in history as a successful period for the club.

Of course we all want to win the league but even United have struggled to compete with city and Chelsea for the title since Ferguson left and we haven’t progressed at all on the pitch ( off the pitch yes)under Emery despite taking over after Wenger’s worst ever season.

  62. Marko

Emery hasn’t got that problem has he as its more of a level playing field now due to ffp finally coming into effect.

Excellent pivot attempt Pierre I especially liked this one level playing field and nearly 200 million spent he should be challenging for more than 4th. It’s brilliant mate. FYI Arsene Wenger in his last 5 seasons spent over 550 million and not only never came close to challenging for the title but led to the decline of the club and was ultimately sacked.

  63. Receding Hairline

Pierre no one gets sacked after achieving success

There was nothing successful about Wenger’s last few years at the club both on and off the pitch

FA cup isn’t really success, Man United sacked Van Gaal after he won the FA cup.

You make it sound like the only alternative to Wenger for you is Pep which is laughable honestly

  64. Jamie

For every single FA Cup Wenger managed to scrape together during his 20 year Arsenal career in which he had full autonomy over everything, Fergie brought almost 2 Premier League titles. Fergie then threw in 2 Champions Leagues and 5 FA Cups for good measure just because he could.

Wenger managed a single European final appearance and no league titles in almost 15 years before even the most absent of owners finally shit-canned him to the curb. Fucking Emery has more European pedigree than Wenger. So does Roberto Di Matteo. Fact.

“I am ready to get back to work.” How’s that working out for you, Arsene? Still turning down all the big clubs like you did in the good old days, eh?

Pierre banging the FFP drum like a good little Wengerboy. So sad.

PL Managers who have won the title since Wenger last managed it (when Pierre was still popping pimples on his pubescent face):

    Jose (multiple)
    Fergie (multiple)
    Ancelotti
    Mancini
    Pellegrini
    Ranieri
    Conte
Pep (multiple, will most likely equal Wenger’s PL haul in May)

8 different managers have won the PL since Wenger last did. But he totally still had it for sure. All managers routinely embarrass themselves year after year.

Managers who have won the Champions League since Wenger last made it to a European final:

    Rijkaard
    Ancelotti
    Fergie
    Pep
    Jose
    Di Matteo
    Heynckes
    Enrique
    Zidane
    Klopp

Great stuff. Why isn’t Wenger’s phone ringing off the hook? Complete mystery. Only a kid pretending to be an old man on the internet who ‘played as a #10 and understands the game’ could possibly reveal the truth.

  65. Eduardo

    China1

    Not going to school
    Not getting a job
    Not respecting authority

All social norms rejected by our charming hoodlums in London and which are excused by the liberal consensus that governs our city.

The breakdown of the family and rise of single parent families also contribute.

Don’t forget the stigmatisation of stop and search, a tactic that saves lives.

  66. Marc

Emery has not spent £200 million – the club has spent a significant amount of money on new players over the past year and a bit. Emery has input but not final say over who is bought and sold.

Instead lets talk about the £185 million Wenger pissed up the wall –

Xhaka £35 million – a player no where near suited to the PL
Mustafi £35 million – worse than useless
Ramsey £40 million – should have been sold 2 years ago to maximise his value when he wouldn’t sign a new contract.
Sanchez £60 million – turned down a bid from Man City when it was clear than he wanted out and wouldn’t sign a new contract – I won’t even go into how to try and make good on Wenger’s fuck up we took Miki in exchange and the £15 odd million that’s cost us in wages.

    Now fucking justify that Pierre?

  67. Marko

Nope HL he was SACKED. Left with his tail between his legs. Took that 10 million for his final year and slow walked out of the building to U2’s with or without you.

Speaking of which couldn’t the miserable wretch has left mutually considering the job he done and the “love” he had for the club? Not like he needed the money

  68. Un na naai

Wenger only spent big on two players throughout fergies time

    Cazorla and Reyes

Fergie spent over £15m on countless players

    Veron
    Rooney
    Berbatov
    Van Nistelrooy
    De Gea
    Carrick
    Rio Ferdinand
    Hargreaves
    Van Persie
    Nani
    Valencia
    Anderson

All while we were shopping at the bargain basement and making a profit every year for the stadium
Of course we weren’t going to compete with that.

Never mind Chelsea coming in and blowing everyone out of the water financially

  69. Bob N16

Eduardo, austerity has probably had the single biggest effect on crime. From under funding in the classrooms, to massive cuts in youth welfare( centres to mental health support), cuts son services supporting the most vulnerable.. Schools feeling pressured to exclude troubled youngsters due to school tables. 60% of kids in PRU ( pupil referral units) end up in prison – kids who have been permanently excluded.

Oh and also a massive cut to police numbers, both in catching criminals but also significantly, working with councils to support those kids who are most vulnerable to being recruited by the gangs.

The idea that ‘tough’ policing is the answer is patently ridiculous. That’s just a line politicians give. Prevention s a much better ‘cure’

That being said, the spate of moped robberies got to be so bad that the police co-rdinated their efforts and one gang that included about 12 bikers got sent dwn and the figures for moped crime went down about 40% in London!

  70. Pierre

    Marko
If you want me to show you the difference in spending between Chelsea and city compared to Arsenal since Abramovich came on the scene I can and what it will show is that their spending far exceeds anything Arsenal spent during that period.

  71. Un na naai

Had wenger been financially backed like Fergie or emery we would have won at least two titles in that time.

  72. OleGunner

Pierre is the most disingenuous conniving sniveling little AKB I’ve ever seen post online.
    It’s almost impressive (not really)

  73. Marko

If you want me to show you the difference in spending between Chelsea and city compared to Arsenal since Abramovich came on the scene I can and what it will show is that their spending far exceeds anything Arsenal spent during that period.

Is that why he suffered so many embarrassing and heavy defeats? Also while you’re bringing that up bring up the money spent by the likes of City and United and Liverpool and compare it to that less than 200 million Emery has spent and explain to me again about the level playing field and how he should be aiming for higher than 4th. Again we’ll just let Arsene and the 550 million he spent the last number of years slide and forget that entirely

  74. Danny S

Wenger ruined his own legacy by refusing to change, move with the times or just walk away.
3 titles and a CL final in 10 years would have been amazing. That over 22 years is a failure for an elite manager at an elite club

  75. Jamie

    Danny S –

Drink the kool-aid, friend. Guzzle it down like Pierre. Key players running down their contracts is ‘the ideal situation’ for a football club.

  76. Marko

Funnily enough Arsene Wenger for all the lack of backing at Arsenal he had still managed to spend 860 million on players during his time. Poorly albeit. And not to mention some money went unspent. Anyway great lad

  77. CG

    Unai ai

“”””Bob Jesus. Keep lying to yourself”””””

Blinkered Bob- kidding to himself, again

    Who would have thought that.?

Anything but Face Facts, Robert N16.

    —————

Wenger would not have gone into a 10 month season with only:

    X 2 Center Forwards
    X3 Center Backs
    X1 Auxiliary Defender
    X 1 Experience Keeper
    X5 Club Captains

Probably that’s why he won x 10 trophies in 20 years.

  78. Danny S

When you consider koscielney has been our best defender for the best part of a decade, you wonder where the fuck that money went.
And that 860m doesn’t include the money we spent paying average players double what they are worth.

  79. raptora

‘Signings could keep Pogba at Man Utd’
Manchester United’s strong transfer window and quick start to the season may convince Paul Pogba to stay, says the club’s former assistant manager Steve McClaren.

Strong transfer window?! His best friend left for Inter, Valencia and Herrera also left, while they got 2 defenders and a 22 yo half exciting young player. Okay Steve. On what merit do they pick most of the English NT managers… Half of them speak nonsense after nonsense.

  80. Leftsidesanch

I have the displeasure of knowing some die hard Man Utd fans who don’t worship Fergie (a serial winner throughout his Man Utd career) as much as Arsenal fans who revere Wenger (winner in 1st half, a serial loser in the second period).

  81. Leftsidesanch

You couldn’t pay Emery to field a nonentity of a footballer like Sanogo in a CL match against Bayern Munich.

Wenger was the personification of a meek loser with a defeatist mentality in his latter day reign.

  82. raptora

Danny S:”And that 860m doesn’t include the money we spent paying average players double what they are worth.”

Oh, Wenger, a communist by heart and choice. Paying our players a very similar amount of salary. No one would get as much or more than him of course.

  83. Jamie

Would any other manager for a top club employ Yaya Sanogo as a ‘main striker’? Chamakh? Squillaci, Senderos, Djourou, Silvestre as defenders? Sell your top striker to a direct rival and hand them another PL trophy while we have to give them a guard of honour?

Wenger x 1 PL title every 7 years when there were only 3 other clubs challenging. Fergie x 1 PL title every 2 years. Pep basically every year until he leaves.

  84. Danny S

    CG

Wenger once went into a season with Kos, Djourou and squalachi and an injured Vermalen got thumped 8-2 and bought Mertasaker as a panic buy!

Give me our current situation any day.

  85. Gentlebris

‘Ps. I hope Gentle Bris little one is settling in nicely.’

    CG

My boy is doing wonderful things. Thanks.

I see you are still not leaving calves alone as well. I’m sure you have the exact measurements of Nketiah’s calves.
    Good for you…… calves fanatic.

  86. Marko

Probably that’s why he won x 10 trophies in 20 years.

Can’t help myself but Unai Emery has won 8 trophies since 2013. Which isn’t quite 10 but at the same time is significantly less than 20 years.

Also cause you’re having trouble understanding things I’ll help you out.

As things stand now we have 3 goal keepers. That’s one.

For two possibly three CB’s positions we have Luiz, Chambers, Sokratis, Holding, Mavropanos, Monreal, Medley (who was promoted) and still Mustafi. Oh and Tierney if needs must. That’s two.

And finally across 3 forward positions (likely) we have Aubameyang, Lacazette, Pepe, Mhikitaryan, Ozil, Martinelli, Nelson, Saka and John Jules. If you want to be rigid and just think CF’s then we have Aubameyang, Lacazette, Pepe who can play there, Martinelli who can play there, Nelson who can play there and John Jules who’s a CF.

I hope that helps you with your trouble with understanding that our season won’t go tits up with the loss of Mustafi or Nketiah as third choice CF

  87. Pedro

Guys, with the greatest respect, please stop talking about the benefits of authortarian regimes, child grooming gangs and any national security.

There are plenty of boards that cater to that. Not this one. Shadow sin binning incoming. Also, for general unpleasantness.

  88. raptora

Paris Saint-Germain have turned down Barcelona’s latest bid for Neymar. The La Liga champions offered £75m plus Philippe Coutinho for the Brazilian star. Barcelona will have to pay at least £110m in addition to two players in order to convince the Ligue 1 champions to consider a deal. (Le Parisien)

    Holy fudge.

  89. Leftsidesanch

You should know by now, when Mr Troll makes absurd comments and is challenged on them/put in his place he will completely ignore what you’ve typed and carry on peddling the same tired, repetitive rhetoric.

  90. Marko

All I’ll say is that Bob you speak more sense than thinking stop and search is a worthwhile approach to fighting crime

  91. Leftsidesanch

Hey PedRo, was waiting for you to step in, and I of course thank you for it.

As for Emery that buffoon with his new set of teeth!! (how dare he, should have left them mangled like mine!)

YOU THINK HE’S GOING TO MAKE TOP 4?

Ain’t going to happen, not on my life of yours!!!! You know it, I know it.!!!

    Truth hurts.

    Tick tock, hickory dock!….

  92. Pierre

    Marko
“Funnily enough Arsene Wenger for all the lack of backing at Arsenal he had still managed to spend 860 million on players during his time. ”

And Abramovic has spent 1.7 billion in 5 years less time.

Which by my equation is double the amount that Wenger spent.

I think that clears that up.

  93. Jamie

Damn it, Danny. Beat me to it!

Pre-emptive ‘yeah but that was an anomaly’ excuse. We won the ‘beat Leicester twice’ trophy that season. Wenger masterclass.

  94. Danny S

It’s not all about spend, it’s about how you spend it. And Wenger had an incredibly outdated and wasteful approach to transfers.
He largely ignored the youth system and bought players based on his opinion more than any kind of science or stats.

All that money’s spent, and you look at the value of the squad he’d left behind.

  95. Leftsidesanch

Mr Burns had the cheek to say that we did our job against Leicester City and the rest of the league didn’t.

How about us not doing our job against the rest of the league? How about Spurs capitulating and allowing us to come 2nd when we weren’t in the race?

How about Giroud taking a holiday from scoring between January and April that year?

  96. Dissenter

There’s tabloid talk that Luka Jovic has fallen out with Zidane already, barely two months after Madrid signed him.
Zifane may be living on borrowed time, probably shouldn’t have gone back to his old job.

  97. Leftsidesanch

‘There’s tabloid talk that Luka Jovic has fallen out with Zidane already, barely two months after Madrid signed him’

Crikey, La Liga doesn’t even kick off till Friday right? Zidane might be a combustible character, and that won’t last over there.

  98. Bob N16

Have the Wenger years not been gone over a couple of times already?

Under achieved say last 8 years, overachieved the rest of the time.

    1) He’s a dick – blinded by his enormous ego when he should have realised/been advised to pack in when he became un competitive.

    2) The success and joy of his ‘vintage’ years (that included financial steroiding/ stadium to pay for) far outweighs his later years and his legacy can be viewed through rose-tinted glasses.

    Take your pick.

  99. Marko

City spent 1.5 billion since 2010..Wenger spent 860 million in 20 years. All makes sense now doesn’t it .

Does it? It doesn’t explain the embarrassing and heavy defeats cause they weren’t all against Man City or Chelsea. It doesn’t explain the idea that Arsene Wenger was severely hamstrung financially either.

All I know is that Arsene Wenger spent 550+ million there the last few years and left us with a squad that was only strong at the CF position. Literally problems everywhere else in the squad severely lacking a keeper, a DM a winger and a back 4. With that in mind give me more information on what City and United spent. I’d love to hear it. Would also like to know how you logically came to the conclusion that Emery should be challenging for more than 4th and how it’s an even playing field now

  100. Gentlebris

You are crying because the air conditioner of your Ferrari is not performing to expectation while the man who drives an old Tata truck simply get on driving, realising life is what it is.

You wanna leave the UK because of knife crimes?
More than half the countries on earth are dealing with bomb crimes.

    Life is not fair.

You live in a cossy apartment with your family and lack nothing, driving good wheels and rocking top designer shoes. Your life is a dream.

But you expect a man whose life is hell on earth to have same social obligations as you? To think the way you think? To analyze life the way you do? ARE YOU FOR REAL?!

Imagine yourself without your sweets…….without your job, your qualifications, your credit cards, your beautiful cars, your cossy apartment/expensive hotels, your fanciful clothes…..even good food. Living rough with so little money…..so little that you can’t assure yourself the next meal.
Then imagine you meet some wonderful people who propose a crime to you while your stomach is rumbling with cold and hunger, imagine how correct you would be.

  101. Marko

Under achieved say last 8 years, overachieved the rest of the time.

I definitely wouldn’t agree with that last part. How does one overachieve the rest of the time when it’s three league titles in 14 years? He overachieved one season. That team back in the day should have won a back to back league title it should have won more trophies and it absolutely should have had better showings in Europe

  102. Jamie

“City spent 1.5 billion since 2010..

Wenger spent 860 million in 20 years.

All makes sense now doesn’t it .”

Yes, it does. Makes for ugly reading when you’re in love with Wenger though.

City have won the PL title 4 times since 2010, smashing goals scored and points tally records along the way.

Wenger spent £590m from 2010 to 2018 and the best he managed in the league was an embarrassing capitulation to 2nd place. Great job, Arsene. How come he can’t find work?

  103. CG

Off course- Wenger could not keep up his blistering trophy -laden first 10 years

Chelsea and Man City entered the fray.
    With their Billions.

    They bought half his team

Arsenal under Wenger- is as good is it going to get for Arsenal supporters from here on in now.

Get used to the dirge that’s coming this season.
And The Clown cheering on tackles.

That filth we witnessed Sunday with 2 attempts on goal- is the new norm.

    Lap it up.

  104. Bob N16

You get my point though Marko? There were good times even great times, at times clubs we were competing with had far greater spending power which might explain only 3 titles.

  105. Pedro

    CG,

He couldn’t keep up because he stopped innovating.

If you’re blaming money, you’ve already lost.

He hoarded cash, didn’t take risks, didn’t know how to react when others found France, didn’t develop his tactical ideas, didn’t evolve his backroom team.

He failed because he sat still while others moved past him.

  106. Danny S

Laca and Auba, I’m pretty sure they were bought in the time that Wenger was having transfer decisions made for him. I don’t think he can get the credit for those.

  107. Chitom

“I wanted pep 5 /6 years ago…but I have said previously and will say it again that Wenger’s last few years will go down in history as a successful period for the club.”

    Pierre,
I suppose that’s a matter of perception but if that’s how you really feel ,then how was Emery’s first season a failure?

Same league position, more or less, as Wenger’s last two years and one step further into EL.
