King Raul takes the summer from a 3/10 to an 8/10

by .

Lie back, take out an extra light cigarette attached to one of those extender things, spark up, and ask yourself how good that ride was.

Newsnow, we’ve never gone harder and we’ve never both finished a window satisfied.

Arsenal, I was thinking about you the whole time.

Ok, I am DONE with the sexy talk.

Arsenal capped off a mental window with a mad trolley dash for David Luiz (hopefully) and Kieran Tierney.

Tierney gives us outrageous pace and delivery on the left. He can defend. He has played in an invincible side. He is the full package. Celtic fans are devastated because he matters and they know he’s worth more than we paid for him.

I loved this from the .com.

I was actually down the park with my friends training. They play with their local team so I was down watching them and I got a phone call that I needed to go. I got to the airport and the flight was delayed two-and-a-half hours, with another hour’s drive for a hotel and I probably got zero sleep, so I was back up at half five today.

David Luiz is a real fence sitter.

Is he better than what we have? Absolutely.

Does his ability to play out of the back change the dynamic of our play and reduce the onus on Xhaka? Absolutely.

Has he won trophies everywhere? Yes.

Can he score against us and torment us this season? No.

He’s an up and down player. He has errors in him. But he can do more of the things Emery needs of him than Mustafi.

He’s also a bit of a c*nt.

What I’m saying is this… don’t turn your nose up at someone that isn’t Mustafi. I’d hire you mum if the chance arose. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that one of these last-ditch ‘character’ signings from Chelsea (or anywhere) finally pays off at some point.

Remember, we just need to get through this season… next  year we can go big for someone younger and hopefully Saliba will come back into the fold.

There are also very strong rumours that Iwobi is going to exit the club to Everton for £40m.

Rave-wobi has many positive attributes, but at this level and at his age, you need to be contributing more than sometimes solid dribbling and moving the ball between the lines. He doesn’t give many assists, he doesn’t score many goals, and his ability to strike the ball cleanly seems to a disappeared. He’s just not good enough for where we need to be.

I know the African Grovers will be furious, but it’s true.

A solid pro, and he’ll leave our most expensive ever sale at £40m.

Unreal biz from Raul.

I’ll be back with another blog a little later when everything is fully confirmed.

… but overall, as Matt pointed out earlier, Raul has moved the club further in 2 weeks than Ivan G did in 10 years.

What a great summer. x

The only player who rated The Clown it seems to me was Iwobi

Played virtually every game last season
AND EVEN HE SCARPERED AWAY FROM HIM- GIVEN THE CHANCE

you a blinkered buffoon of the highest order

You cant handle The Truth!
How ridiculous is that…
A grown man hiding from the Truth!

Mr Serge

Pierre it was less than 5m for Ceballos the record loan payment was for James from Real to Bayern for a two year loan at 13 m euros a superstar signing not a young player with promise
It’s easy to find out if you research mate

Un na naai

Wow!! So much bitterness on here tonight after a very pleasing 3 weeks

You cunts would argue in an lead box with no windows or doors

Mr Serge

Un nai so true it like four factions and they all hate each other lol chill the hell out guys and celebrate a great window

LeMassiveCoq

Right, come on you lot. Stop arguing about Arsenals bank balance. We’ve had a much better window than most of us expected. So lets have those strongest 11’s

Does anyone not agree that it’s a good thing arsenal were spending big fees and lower wages on better players?

Is that in doubt? I thought that was what we were all celebrating this week?

And that’s the problem
He loves it
Revels in it.

Peter Risadle loved the limelight too.

Un na naai

Serge

This all stems from the Wenger pathology
The divide still runs deep and will probably influence the way some of these guys react to every single detail at the club.

On both sides of the coin

Un na naai

Peter Risadle loved the limelight too

And ken bates

CG

They went bust too!

kristoman

I think emery should start his best players immediatey cause
1. We need to strike fear into opposition the get go
2. We need these point fast cause this the ruthless, you are not allowed a breathing. If u fluster, to recover is an enermous task.

I bet you’re the life and soul of the party. A great TW but I think you should have your belt and shoelaces removed for your own safety.

Un na naai

Who is our best side though? I don’t think emery even knows
He certainly didn’t last year which is why he flip flopped with Ramsey and ozil and lacazette and Leno.

Pierre

Really looking forward to seeing Luiz strut out in an Arsenal shirt , ..we have potentially a superb side .

Leno
A back 4 consisting of Bellerin Sokratis Luiz Tierney.

A midfield 2 of Willock Ceballos

Ozil

Aubamayang Lacazette Pepe.

Looks like attack will be the best form of defence.

No Ozil in any away matches please emery am on my knees here. I beg u hear my plea

They definitely get more enjoyment out transfers than the actual football which I find a little strange.

and so what?
His contract ends in the summer anyway. If he doesn’t perform he’s gone so no biggie.

Goonah

Don

last 10 games of the season. Is the result down to the coaches or are there many factors?? You seem to blame Emery for a lot that went wrong

Un na naai

I’m going to get behind David Luiz
He’s a great passer
A big character
And a good fella. Let’s do it. Maybe for once le grove can be semi- United

I bet you doodles were ecstatic when Wenger refused to buy a single outfield player in the summer of 2015.
You were cheering when the ship was being run aground and now moaning when others are expressing relief.

Dissenter

Where’s gambon?

Marko

Wonder if Ozil can better last seasons stats. Maybe three world class attackers is the magic number to get him to do more than sweet fuck all. I have my doubts. In fact I see him ostracized to the point where he plays in the Europa League and Willock is considered a better option in the league.

Un na naai

Goonah

Yeah I do
High line with slow defence
Poor motivation.

Sticking with ozil when he should have been benched. Sticking with Mustafi when he was just collapsing. Not freshening the squad with youth when he had the chance in cups and certain league games
This wasn’t games against Barca and Liverpool and city and Bayern

It was wolves palace Brighton and Leicester which cost us.

Anyway. I’m trying to stay positive for the season ahead and not give to much credence to emery’s blunders until/unless he forces us to again.

Left testicle

Pierre

Simple equation:
Replace footballers with better quality footballers equals more chance of winning trophies / qualifying for CL / more entertaining football.

Simple really but aren’t you a fully paid up member of the Wenger cult?

Un na naai

Dissenter

Pipe down fool. I’m happy. Just prefer the football to the window.

gnarleygeorge9

Un na naai

True! But there is intent.

WengerEagle

Hold my hands up, Raul and the gang have done incredibly well to pull off Tierney and Luiz for the amount that we’ve sold Iwobi to Everton for.

Can always count on good old Everton to pay exorbitant fees for bang average talent, lol 35m for Iwobi is insane.

What a fucking day.

Un na naai

Gnarly

Yeah. Raul and edu have done their bit marvellously and put the emphasis back on emery. Now more blundering or he’s on the block. Quite frankly I’m not a fan of his anyway so it’s a win win

He wins and I’m happy
He doesn’t and we get someone better and we win and I’m happy

Un na naai

Whatever happens manager wise we now know we have a team capable of putting arsenal where they should be. If emery fails they will put someone in place with a vision. These guys aren’t fucking around any more and that’s great for arsenal and us fans.
Delighted with Raul and edu and the direction they are taking us

WengerEagle

Unn

Honestly mate Luiz is if anything underrated, not rock solid every match but he’s capable of top drawer matches and as you say adds leadership and a winner’s mentality to the backline.

Left testicle

Brave move expressing optimism. The Harbinger of Doom and the Grim Reaper will soon bring you down to earth.

WengerEagle

Marko what’s your take on Luiz?

I’m a fan but would rather we’d have signed Gary Cahill tbh, we really missed a trick there.

That’s a joke by the way.

Un na naai

Eagle

I’m gonna get behind him. I always have. Our players and our manager. Jury is out but they are gooners now and they’ve got my support. Even ozil

Un na naai

I’m a fan but would rather we’d have signed Gary Cahill tbh, we really missed a trick there. That’s a joke by the way

Fuck
You got me there. That would have surprised me.

Un na naai

Man I really fancy a toasted ham sandwich.

WengerEagle

Said from day one that Neymar would end up at Real Madrid, what do you know PSG in talks with Real now.

100% see it happening, what better way for Neymar to steal Messi’s thunder than compete against him as opposed to playing his sidekick. Will be his team too as there’s no alpha personality since Ronaldo left [Ramos is but he’s a defender and getting on a bit].

He’s always struck me as a better fit for Real than Barca too personality wise, more of a Galactico than a Cules.

Freddie Ljungberg

Tierney expecting to be fully match fit in 6 weeks, not ideal but we should be able to cope until then. A shame we have 3/4 of our starting backline out injured atm, can’t wait to have all of them back. The alternatives are just not good enough.

Marc

You can tell that certain posters are genuine AKB’s even though they deny it simply because they can’t understand that the majority on here whilst behind Emery aren’t slaves to him. If he fucks up he’ll be gone – simple as end of, but for them that doesn’t compute if you support a manager you do it over and above your support for the club.

That’s why they try and push a picture of Emery fucking up thinking it’ll generate the excuses they make for Wenger.

WengerEagle

LT

I’ve been a dour bastard myself but I had fair reason to be given how every window has panned out for us up until now. And as I said, today was a massive day because we’ve significantly improved the backline with a massive upgrade at LB and an improvement at CB for a net spend of nothing by selling a squaddie in Iwobi who’s hit his ceiling and is an Everton level player, confident that Nelson/Willock between them can replace him in the squad tbh.

Marc

Freddie

As I’ve already said we do have the option of using Chambers at RB with Sok & Luiz at CB and Monreal at LB.

It’s not ideal but at least it gives us some options.

Marko

Would have preferred Leipzig’s third choice CB but as a short term addition he’s good. Easily better than what we had and a better signing than Rugani I think (I wasn’t against his signing). He’s a character too which is needed. I can see Pepe getting a lot of joy from playing with him

Emiratesstroller

The debate about how much the club has spent or earned in this transfer window is not really important. What is more relevant is whether the team/squad has been strengthened and better equipped to challenge for a top 4 place in EPL and qualify for Champions League. First I don’t think that anyone would argue that we are a more attacking force this season. Pepe will add pace and goal scoring opportunities to our team. Our midfield options are also better than last season. Ramsey was a decent player, but his game time was limited. The addition of Ceballos will… Read more »

WengerEagle

I’d prefer Calum at RB than AMN at this stage, speaks more to how shocking defensively AMN is than anything else as Chambers is barely PL level himself.

Hopefully Raul can pull a rabbit out of the hat and sort us RB cover for Hector on a loan or free/low fee.

gnarleygeorge9

Un na naai

I agree with you except on the ham sandwich. It’s breaky time here, I’ll have a full Monty please!

Freddie Ljungberg

Marc

Yeah, our RB is the biggest problem right now, neither AMN or Chambers are good enough but one of them has to play.

Thank fuck we got Luiz or it would have been Chambers/Mustafi paired with Sok, urgh.

LB is fine until Tierney is fit, not ideal but ok.

WengerEagle

Marko

Really you’d have liked Orban as a long-term solution, not Upamecano? ;

Much prefer Luiz to Rugani who had disaster written all over him for me given he;d have cost a fee and a half and he doesn’t bring attributes that would translate well to the PL for a centre half.

WengerEagle

Wonder what United’s plan is now to replace Lukaku. They did well to recoup the full fee for him given he was a 1 in 3 striker last season, hardly going to put that much faith in Rashford are they?

Marc

Emirates

As much as anything I think the other thing that is being shown at the moment is that failure is not an acceptable fall back. Players who aren’t performing or cause issues will be moved on and replaced by someone better.

I think this will force some players to raise their game – it was reported a little while ago that Ozil had decided to just see Emery out. Well Mesut when Emery is replaced the new guy will be more pushy and aggressive not less.

WengerEagle

Lol poor old Wilfried Zaha, priced out a move to Arsenal and now Everton who’ve opted for Iwobi in his place.

Entering his prime years playing with Andros Townsend and Max Meyer.

Marc

WE

ManU are either going to shock the hell out of everyone or be a borderline laughing stock this season.

Marko

6 weeks sounds a bit suss for a player who was apparently training by himself. I’d say that you could see him only miss the first couple games. Might see him in the squad for Liverpool.

WengerEagle

Marc

Yeah have a feeling that they will make a completely left field CF signing out of nowhere for silly money.

Who is anybody’s guess, a few names that spring to mind are Timo Werner, Ciro Immobile, Benzema if Real sign Neymar, would have said Icardi but surely he’d have been included in the Lukaku deal, Piatek, Duvan Zapata.

Freddie Ljungberg

Marko

don’t know how much truth is in it but it’s from here:

https://metro.co.uk/2019/08/08/kieran-tierney-tells-rob-holding-hopes-make-arsenal-debut-10542835/

Fully match fit is probably when he expects that he can start games regularly for us. We’ll see, the sooner we get everyone back the better

Marko

They did well to recoup the full fee for him

Huh didn’t they pay 92 million or 75 million guaranteed or some shite.

United don’t have a ghost of a chance for top 4. Not a chance. They’re banking their season on Rashford as first choice CF and hoping that Sanchez and Martial get the finger out. They’re fucked irrespective of the defence likely being better

WengerEagle

They’ll surely bring in somebody before the deadline Marko, would be amazed if they spent 130m on two defenders only to go into the season with Rashford as their only recognised CF and not even an out and out striker at that.

Un na naai

I reckon ole will have the knack of giving the forwards confidence in front of goal.

WengerEagle

Yeah you’re right, the initial fee from Everton was 75m and think there was add-ons after.

Still recouped most of it which isn’t terrible considering how bad he was last season.

At this stage we’re in pole position to finish in 4th nearly be default alone of Chelsea and United’s struggles in the market with the Chavs ban and no good strikers and United seemingly signing no forwards of note as of yet.

Marko

WE you alright son the windows over it’s done they’re rolling with Rashford fucking Lingard and co

Leftsidesanch

FL

Yeah, not sure though he was out training with mates, back using a ball and was said to be a few weeks off. I think six weeks is full fitness.

Cesc Appeal

I think Liverpool are going to struggle as the season goes on, not a fan of refusing to add to and improve on your squad.

Tired legs and tired minds.

Champagne charlie

Lol, Weagle on a 4 day bender and thinks it’s Sunday

Window is shut pal, get a glass of water in you 😂

WengerEagle

‘David Luiz is a baller, prone to a wtf moment but he’s been top tier for most of his career and is one of the best CB’s with the ball at his feet. If we’re trying to scoop up all the 18 year olds out there I’m plenty fine with a 32 year old of his level joining the party for a couple of seasons. Him and Tierney would be excellent business.’

Was sifting through comments from yesterday and this one from Charlie sums up my thoughts on Luiz in a nutshell.

WengerEagle

Ah Charles, there you are son.

WengerEagle

Hahaha it actually? Jesus, thought it was shut tomorrow night.

You know us Irish, it’s hooked to our veins baby.

WengerEagle

What are you on about CA, they added Adrian who will help them a tremendous amount close the gap with his motivation from the bench.

Marko

Thing about Liverpool is that Keita and Fabinho could have break out second seasons and contribute massively. Joe Gomez and Oxlade Chamberlain could actually stay fit for a reasonable period of time. Only issue is the drop off if one of their front 3 gets injured

DaleDaGooner

Being chuffed about selling Iwobi when Mhki, Mustafi and Xhaka are still in the squad……the fanbase, smh

WengerEagle

Dale

35m for Iwobi is laughable carry on from Everton, that’s one of the best deals you’ll see being made on the market for the selling club.

Yeah shame about the others but at least Luiz knocks Mustafi further away from the XI.

WengerEagle

Keita is due one, Fabinho started slowly but was Liverpool’s best midfielder from January onwards.

Marko

Goes without saying that an injury to VVD and they’re kinda fucked too

WengerEagle

Cons of not being loaded to the gills with the Sheikh money to buy 50m reserve full backs that eh.

DaleDaGooner

Can always count on good old Everton to pay exorbitant fees for bang average talent, lol 35m for Iwobi is insane.

Ox fetched us 35m….he was bang average if you ask me.

Sid

Funny how Pierre tried to sell the BS about the 15 loan fee using the sun link and got shut down promptly with counter sources.

Hasn’t spoken about it since, did the same when we announced cabellos and I had dig up the same links for him. You would think he would have the brains to not try peddling the same BS twice.

DaleDaGooner

I think Iwobi contributed better for us than say Mhki….just me though

Cesc Appeal

£35 Million for Iwobi was ‘the icing on the cake’ as the Mail put it.

The presence of Mkhitaryan, Mustafi etc has no relevance to being chuffed at getting £35 Million for a £15-20 Million player.

What would you have done? No Everton, take your ludicrously generous offer which I suspect you have made while inebriated away, I will not sell until Mkhitaryan and Mustafi are gone.

I do not sell based on economic sense I sell based on a subjective feeling of meritocracy.

If someone offers you near twice the value of a player, you take the offer.

Sid

Being chuffed about selling Iwobi when Mhki, Mustafi and Xhaka are still in the squad……the fanbase, smh

Coz clubs are not exactly linning up to take the 180k, 90k and 100k dross of our hands. I’ll take the small wins considering we are the same club that lets Gnarby walk for 10 million.

DaleDaGooner

Again, we got 35m for Ox and Walcott went for around 20…what’s the big deal? That a lot of you just don’t like the boy?

WengerEagle

Pool overpaid for Ox and I was delighted then too, having said that Ox was/is a better player than Iwobi for sure.

And we were all ecstatic barring London Gunner when Feo was sold, what are you on about?

DaleDaGooner

I mean we paid 72m for Pepe, what’s wrong with getting 35m for a decent player? Yeah, a lot of you just don’t like him…..one player that absolutley steal his paycheck while being average over two teams in Mhki and less said about Xhaka and co…..anyway, he’s gone, he’ll do well for them to your surprise.
