Cheerio Laurent Koscielny.
Was lovely to have you.
The best of a terrible bunch of players.
One of the few standouts in a banter era.
But ultimately, he’s the sort of defender the cucks loved. Or the fans that were unfortunate enough to come of age during the Wenger decline.
So often at the heart of terrible moments during our seasons. I’ll still remember that league cup final. The red cards. The penalties. And finally, going on strike.
He wasn’t captain material. Behind the scenes he’s been described to me as a difficult character and high maintenance. He also came for the easy life, which so many viewed as the ‘he loves us’ path. You saw in the end what mattered most to Laurent… Laurent.
Raul and Edu have done a great job. They’ve brought in a fee, they’ve moved on a disruptive figure, they’ve avoided Arsenal having to rely on a 33 year old that’s past it.
Now we have to bring in a defender.
It is getting silly now. We’re 48 hours from a deadline day melee. We have signed ZERO defenders. It’s getting so bad, Neil Lennon is trying to sell us on the fitness of Tierney. Upemecano is on then it’s off, then it’s on. Rugani reports read like a Mustafi shaped nightmare. Then there’s literally no one else causing smoke.
I am LOVING that we are still being linked with Coutinho, but that doesn’t solve our problems. We’re like the Fast Show guy.
‘Did you get me a left back and a sturdy centre back?’
‘Even better than that. I have Coutinho!’
‘You are fucking kidding me’
Not that anyone turns down a player of that genius, but come on, once the HYPE settles and we’re left with the same defence as last season with Xhaka as our captain, reality is going to bite… we just lost our minds this summer.
Still, we’ll be fun to watch.
Let’s see what today brings. The ITKs are out in force trying to see if they can get one over the paywall crowd… I truly HOPE someone has something right. We need a big centre back. We need a left back with pace and power. We need to do something to help a manager who is going to need all the support he can get this season.
Fingers crossed. See you on Twitter. x
Brentford have completed the signing of left-back Dominic Thompson from Arsenal on a three-year deal.
bob N16 – true Mhki out on a free is fine by me. As you said he’ll only end up taking minutes away from the youngsters.
Considering the doom and gloom at the start of the summer this has been a very good transfer window. Arsenal banter club era is coming to an end, we are a club in major transition and although not over with players like xhaka, mustafi, ozil, mikhi still here, another 2 TWs and the squad should be ready for a title challenge.
Hats off to the management.
“Brentford have completed the signing of left-back Dominic Thompson from Arsenal on a three-year deal”.
That deal actually helped move along the Tierney deal. The Brentford left back moved to Celtic
arsenal should give a chance to Daniel Crowley
“Brentford have completed the signing of left-back Dominic Thompson from Arsenal on a three-year deal.”
Weird one I must say. I thought Arsenal were gonna boot out Tank and Monreal next summer and Dominic becomes Tierney’s understudy. Oh well, what do I know.
Utarse – Yep its been a good window, a couple more good TW’s and we’ll be in even better shape.
“””””Watford have a better array of forward players than us””””
Pass the kushumpeng, pass pass puff
My guess is there are left backs with more potential coming through. Gone are the days of giving the likes of Denilson and Bendtner five seasons to prove themselves. A move in the right direction.
Cc Cor you’re chipper this morning!!! I’m not one of those who thinks David Luiz has no pace or power I just think he switches off far too often to be comfortable with him in a back 4 It’s going to take him being non stop reliable to change that opinion. I’ve watched him fuck up so many times down the years. He’s not reliable enough for me to be happy over this. I’m not too fussed with a technical leader at the back as things stand. I want my back four to get right and watch their runners before… Read more »
Hilarious, the reaction of the Chelsea fans about Luiz.
It seems that we are now becoming a threat to them… (lolz)
We’ve already shifted, what, £20m worth of dross in Kos, Jenko, Ospina, Bielik, Bramall, Asano, not sure if I’ve missed anyone out.
Everton want Iwobi for £30m..
We’ve reduced our wage bill, and moving on Mkhi and Ozil will add an extra £25m to the bottom line.
That ‘financial assessment’ hasn’t aged very well since its publication a couple months ago..
Calling it now.
One last move in the transfer market.
Coutinho in on loan (with option to buy).
Come on Raul. Make it happen!
One last move : Mustardi out. Even for free.

lets be greedy here and hijack the dybala deal lol
that would be great like the manu petit deal
Luiz at £7 Million is not bad at all.
Far better deal than Rugani at £50 Million, Dunk at £45 Million or Tarkowski at £45-50 Million.
Mustafi looking like he might be sold to Ligue 1.
Looks as if Tierney’s fee is £25 Million, great signing.
I would really like a last minute move from Arsenal for someone else but to be fair the new regime has done really well this window.
Very hopeful for the future of the club now.
Fabrizio Romano reporting Coutinho has been offered again to AFC today but we are interested now
@GoH : sometimes you’re very funny, other times you’re just a dick.
Well what a window!! After years of thin gruel under wenger, the banter signings the super market sweeps, almost always under delivering on the type of names we can attract. Its over. The hell is over. I shall call my first born Raul, he’s a sniper, the born wheeler deeler we have needed going back to David dein. This batch of names is the best of both worlds for me, some rollerdex to fill needs, pepe Luiz cellabos and some decent scouting in saliba and tierney. Love love love the approach. Genuinely excited for the season. Emery you have no… Read more »
Graham 62 It is likely that Mustafi will leave the club at some point during the transfer window albeit not necessarily today. The Continental Leagues’ transfer windows close in most cases on 2/9 so there is plenty of time to offload him. Also I would be inclined to hold onto him until Holding is “match fit”. I do not believe that Coutinho will be coming to Arsenal, because of the likely high loan fee and wages. This could only happen if Ozil and/or Mkhitaryan were to leave before 5pm and that seems unlikely. It makes no sense to allow Iwobi… Read more »
Any surprises today? Just the two? No possiblity of Rugani or Coutinho as well? To be fair Luiz could be a shrewd short term signing. By far better than some of the short term signings made last summer
Cesc
Mate. £7m for Luiz plus big wages is short termism in the extreme. He’s 32/33.
Looking at your figures, all those players are significantly younger and can grow…Luiz is done.
Personally it’s better to pay £50m for a 20-25 year old who might be a £70m player in two years.
Horses for courses.
Barca said yesterday they are not oooking to lose Coutinho. Playing games? Probably.
Let’s see
I have to say that would please me massively
Especially if we sack off Elneny Mkhitaryan and Mustafi. And maybe iwobi or ozil.

Is CG hacking profiles now? FFS
I’m with hackney
Not sold on Luiz at all.
“Very hopeful for the future of the club now.”
That’s exactly the point, Cesc.
Even if this summer is not “perfect” (ask GoH about it – lol) at least the hope for the futur is back, and that is the biggest news of this window.
DUIFG
Yeah good mix of transfer approach this window.
Martinelli and Saliba is really good scouting.
Pepe, Luiz and Dani Ceballos is contacts.
Tierney looks as if it was Emery’s choice.
This is all we’ve wanted for years, a competent transfer approach where our resources are used to best effect with a mix o ideas, approaches and opinions.
HL
I actually upgraded us to ninth by accident. My algorithm has us at 11th…but I do still just about like Arsenal so pushed us up a bit.
CA
Agree with everything in your post. Are we being greedy hoping for a last minute deal out of left field? Probably, but lets enjoy the best TW in donkeys years.
‘Bulging calves’ I belly laughed at my desk damnit!!!
Literally cannot believe that Pierre and Charles are in agreement that the Summer as a whole was really, really positive. I’m thinking the same. Nice moves by our directors and good job on securing almost every #1 target they wanted with the exception of Upamecano. Don and Valentin – the only two bitches in the blog. Never happy with anything. LOL. I just hope Pierre isn’t lowkey applauding Raul and co, so that afterwards can attack Emery for literally anything all the time. Then again, with the squad we have, we are not the 6th best team on paper anymore.… Read more »
HighburyLegend They’ve shown they want to win and that they are very good at working the transfer market. In Sanllehi I honestly think we might have one of the best DoFs going. I think Edu is a really hire as well, Venkatesham has worked well with them making sure the finances work out and Fahmy has worked seamlessly making sure the contracts and deals are brokered. They’ve also shown this is now all about progress and winning, no ‘Arsenal values’ and ‘beliefs’ which was code for I’m a giant egotistical pussy who doesn’t want to compete. We’re behaving like a… Read more »
Indeed CA, it’s mad that this is the first window I’ve ever seen (maybe going bag k to the gio van b and fox in the box window) where we have actively recruited to needs with a clear plan.
I fucking love it
Are the posters on here whinging about the signing of Luiz for just £7m the same whingers who state that we are likely to go the same way as Leeds and Pompey?
Re Luiz, I’m actually OK with it. Market for CB’s has gone a bit bonkers. 8m is good business.
Yes would Up have been quality yes, but we looked desperate on the last day handing over 80m for him.
I belive this Luiz purchase was not planned. We bought saliba in the expectation kos would stay for 1 Yr. He then fucked us and forced us into a hot market. Let it cool and let’s pick our CB piece with calmer heads
Left Testicle
I think it’s okay hope there might be more.
But as you say if not then this has still been the best transfer window in memory.
The new regime has fully announced itself now and even if people have a problem with Emery all the noise from June and July about the new regime (Sanllehi, Edu etc) has to stop. They have to have our backing now.
So we now think that signing a LB and a catastrophe like Luiz will stop us conceding 50+ goals?
No. We needed at least 2 CB 1 LB and another tough guy in midfield.
This is okay but one more CB and I’ll be 3/10 happy.
CG is becoming RT mark 2.
When you read his comments about our strike combination of Aubameyang,
Lacazette and Pepe you know that he is either a closet Spurs Supporter or
deluded.
For the record these three players scored last season over 70 goals. I don’t see
many teams in EPL with that level of fire power.
Anyway, Emery couldn’t pull the best attacking talent on the planet together at PSG. What chance does this buffoon have with our dross?
I forgot that there are 2 distinct Guns of Hackney, one under vodka, and the other one… sober ??
Was just thinking – How good would it be if Stan’s hands-off ownership finally has a competent figure at the helm. If Raul and co are good in their job, Stan giving them all the freedom in the world, they could achieve wonders, as we’ve seen in this window. It feels like the beginning of something. I’m feeling excitement again!
DUIFG I think you’re right. That is a massive thing for us. We lacked width and pace so they’ve added Pepe and Tierney. We lacked the ability to carry the ball in the middle and smart passing so they’ve added Dani Ceballos. We play out from the back and will look to counter using our new pace out wide so they’ve added Luiz. We needed to outsmart the market and nail down the defensive for the future so they’ve added Saliba. We needed to make sure we’re doing better with regards to youth players so we’ve added Martinelli and called… Read more »

Pepe scores 22 in a shit league. He won’t get 5 this year. Guaranteed.
As for Auba and Laca…not potent enough and never actually do well together.
The best the three could do this year is maybe 40 between them.
“At the about the same time- AFC are announcing Luiz THFC are announcing Sessignion.”
The same sessegnon that was in the team where chambers won player of the year …..
“What chance does this buffoon have with our dross?”
At least, if he fails, it won’t take a decade to get rid of him… 😉
HL
Always under something…
@Edu me a favour : congrats, excellent pseudo!! lol
‘No. We needed at least 2 CB 1 LB and another tough guy in midfield.’
Yesterday it was two CBS and a LB, now your adding a midfielder, what’s next? Going out of your way to be melancholy as usual.
ZZZZ
HL
Thanks 😀
HL
Good. Emery isn’t the guy we need. He’s a vanilla ice cream surrounded by chilli flavoured nuclear bombs.
You know who we need…it’s only a matter of time before The Arteta of War lands.
Ca ye that last line given up, I did, I actively withdrew at the end under wenger. Couldn’t deal with the repetition anymore. The club is back.
If we utilise Luiz correctly he could be quality.
Luiz pinging balls out first time to pepe so he can take on the back line would scare the living shit out of me as an opposition manager.
Its now on Emery to work out how to get these pieces playing together and utilising them to their best ability
‘CG is becoming RT mark 2.’
Not the only idiot running around here making ludicrous statements. It would help if they were at least readable and humorous but it’s just embarrassing attention seeking from grown (I think) men.
Left
I also think we need 20 players and around £300m – £1b spent.
What’s your beef?
Receeding
Don’t do that to me re-Coutinho
I’m praying to all the gods i know we pull that off
CG is omnipotent, don’t underestimate his hacking skills
“At the about the same time- AFC are announcing Luiz THFC are announcing Sessignion.”
You surely know that Tierney is about to be announced as well. Right?
Don and Valentin – the only two bitches in the blog. Never happy with anything. LOL. Fasf If you open your eyes you’ll have noted how delighted I was on Tuesday night with the deals that have been done and are being done and the work out in by Raul and Edu in the last 3 weeks. Love pepe, Tierney, Saliba and martinelli. Ceballos less so. Clearly got the skills but let’s see if he can apply them in the rough and tumble on a could Tuesday at stoke Luiz. Not my cup of tea. All in all very happy.… Read more »
RH,
you bloody troll. Fabrizio’s tweet says “NOT INTERESTED in him now” lol.
“Philippe Coutinho has been offered by his agents again but #AFC are not interested now.”
Anyway, Emery couldn’t pull the best attacking talent on the planet together at PSG
What does that mean you fuckwit. Listen either make coherent points or fuck off like you are always fucking promising to do because you’re a waste of time. Clearly supporting Arsenal isn’t for you
Spurs spend £25 million on a teenage defender – he is ready for season 19/20
Arsenal spend £25 million on a teenage defenders- he is ready for season 20/21
Outsmarting the market?
The final Jigsaw ?
Teck Deck !
You have Duped, Delinquents….
Emirates,
Wouldn’t you deem £30m plus for a bench player an offer we can’t refuse ?
“He’s a vanilla ice cream surrounded by chilli flavoured nuclear bombs. ”
That’s the GoH that I like the most!! lol
Do we all agree we were in dire need of a CB? YES
Do we agree we ve tried for a top young CB monster like Daryot? Yes
Was anything else available from Luiz for short term? No
Luiz can play as a DM as well. We may deploy him there wen Holding comes back.
WE HAVE HAD A PLAN B..
Yes Luiz is not the solution for long term but he is a paerfect for short term.. And 8m is nothing.
SO please STOP moaning and enjoy our best transfer window since DD left our beloved club…
COYG!!
Seeing trolls go out of their way to spread negativity when fans can see a ray of hope is my ‘beef’ Watergun.
David Luiz’s transfer to be paid in 8 million instalments of £1. Raul has done it again.
Brilliant
Tottenham’s proposed move for Paulo Dybala is OFF after Juventus ultimately decided not to sell the 25-year-old Argentina forward.
David Luis had to have been a last minute addition to replace Kos. That is an upgrade because he’s clearly better than both Koz and Mustafi at this moment. He brings the pace and athleticism we lacked with our central defenders. He’s also great in the air which is an added bonus. That is simple ABC, not complicated at all. That would now give us a better defense than United and Chelsea, on par with City and Spurs and slightly behind Pool. I am becoming very very impressed with Raul and Edu, they are making use of their brains and football… Read more »
Brilliant, Dybala is a fabulous little player that would have hurt to see him go there.
Yup, literally the first good window we’ve had since I don’t even remember when, and some ppl are still unhappy.
Don, glad you are not one of them.
With that said, if spuds announce Lo Celso, Sessengon AND Dybala, that’d be quite the coup for them. All 3 of them have good amount of talent. Would be fantastic summer for them, even though they lost Trippier and it’s looking like Eriksen will leave as well.
Puns of Mockney,
Your perpetual “everything the new Arsenal regime do is shit” routine is getting really tiresome.
Pépé to score 5 or less? Give it a break, give us all a break
DUIFG
Yeah I expect a lot more from Emery this year.
This side looks far more balance compared to the shower Wenger left.
Luiz, sadly, will be one of the more competent CBs we’ve had for a long while. We’ve got actual full backs now, an actual winger and our central midfield is starting to look more balanced with Dani Ceballos and if Willock can continue to impress.
I don’t expect a solid defence, I don’t expect to look close to the finished thing yet, but I do now expect a more efficient system in attack and defence.
“Tottenham’s proposed move for Paulo Dybala is OFF after Juventus ultimately decided not to sell the 25-year-old Argentina forward.”
What a day!!
(lol)
I know Tierney is injured but I can see either Monreal or Kolasinac leaving. One of them won’t be getting any real game time.
Still think Coutinho is a must if we want top four.
If we can get a system that does not involve xacka will be happy.
Torreira and ceballos must start
In this transfer window the new regime has shown:
1) it can work to a plan (Ceballos:Saliba Pépé)
2) it can improvise (Luiz)
3) it can work to a tight budget (Pépé)
4) it can ship out Tier 3 Players
3) it is possible to ship out dross
Arsenal are getting £3 Million for Thompson and there’s a sell on clause.
Good work.
Really looks good for Arsenal now going forward.
£15.5 Million for Amaechi, Bielik and Thompson with sell on clauses for some.
Paulinho
Think Monreal stays as 5th choice CB if we are hoping to shift Mustafi.
I’m more than ok with that.
Freddie – I think Kola is more likely. There’s talk he and Iwobi didn’t arrive at training today.
Luiz at £7 Million is not bad at all.Far better deal than Rugani at £50 Million, Dunk at £45 Million or Tarkowski at £45-50 Million.Mustafi looking like he might be sold to Ligue 1.Looks as if Tierney’s fee is £25 Million, great signing.I would really like a last minute move from Arsenal for someone else but to be fair the new regime has done really well this window.Very hopeful for the future of the club now.”
Good business if true.
Kol now is in a weird scenario.
Hes not a starting fullback and can’t play in a back 4.
Hes a useful situational piece though, his addition does provide an outlet down there.
Question is that value enough to warrant the 20 mil you could probably raise from sale.
Freddie, you’re far from being the only one.
“David Luiz’s transfer to be paid in 8 million instalments of £1. Raul has done it again.|”
Over what time period?
I’d keep. Monreal. 1 Yr deal, still fairly solid and can do a job at CB if needed.
If there are any departures like Iwobi I wonder if that would mean a move for someone today or whether the club keeps the money and looks to January.
mustafi has to come out and tell the English media, he wasn’t part of the 4-1 beat down England got from Germany.
Cesc – I would sell Iwobi even if we didn’t bring in anyone in. This unreal situation of a team offering £40 million for him will never arise again.
Cesc – I would sell Iwobi even if we didn’t bring in anyone in. This unreal situation of a team offering £40 million for him will never arise again.
Exactly.
Delighted spurs never got Dybala
That kid is shit hot
Dybala deal OFF to Spuds.. We are now officially the most improved team coming out of the transfer window. LETS GET THE BACK OF THE TEAM. We are winning clearly and in deserved manner our way back to top 4.
In your gaces to all haters negatve persons out there
GREAT EFFORT AND BIG CONGRATS TO RAUL EDU AND EMERY!!
Paulinho
That’s risky, if Tierney breaks down any time during the season I’d rather have Kola as backup than a legless Monreal, he’s fine for the odd game but can’t play 2-3 times a week.
Dybala to spurs better be off
Juve would be stupid to let him go.
What are United doing selling Lukaku to Inter for?
They’re a very weird club
Paulinho
I would as well.
If Arsenal get £40 Million for Iwobi the transfer market has then officially gone nuts, if it hadn’t already.
Here have £40 Million for a winger who isn’t particularly good at dribbling, who ruins counters and has limited end product.
“Still think Coutinho is a must if we want top four.”
Nah
Add Coutinho Emery better compete for the title!!!!!
The squad as it is should make top four or we need a new coach
bobAugust 8, 2019 11:07:55
mustafi has to come out and tell the English media, he wasn’t part of the 4-1 beat down England got from Germany.
Mong
I think bob is in the wrong country. Maybe head back to the flies and sand for dinner eh bob?
And what are United doing trying to Sign Mandzukic?
Thank fuck we don’t have Woodward
Mustafi elneny ozil and kolasinac all hopefully heading out now
Gooooodbyeeeee
After this summer you won’t catch me holding brief for Emery again
You have a team, get the best out of them. It’s a 6m a year job
Freddie – I like Kola as well, at least when used in small doses.
He can be a wrecking ball down our left flank when he is fresh.
Newcastle doing well with St Maxim and Joellington… How have they managed that
