Arsenal chaos about to get worse

by .

News from around the Arsenal camp isn’t good heading into the tour of America.

The big news is club captain, Laurent K, skipped the flight with the first team. Arsenal uncharacteristically put out a press release that read more like a ‘GOTTA GET IN THERE FIRST’ piece than anything else. It gave no context and it just felt a little lacking in class.

As for the player, I’ve heard this has been brewing for a while.

A few things to note. Laurent isn’t exactly captain material. Whatever you might think from looking at his on-pitch persona, he’s not a real leader by any stretch. He’s not a talker and he can apparently be quite difficult. This type of move isn’t par the course for him, but I don’t think it’s totally unexpected from what I hear.

Going on strike isn’t cool however you chop it up. But if you reframe it through his selfish eyes, he’s just come back from a major injury, he’s 33 years old (34 in September), he could break at any point and then any chance he has of retiring to the south of France goes up in the puff of an Achilles. He wants out of Arsenal, he’s getting very little love from a club on terminating his deal because we need all the pennies we can get, so he’s forcing the move.

It’s unprofessional, but at his age, firstly, why would he give a fuck? What is there to play for under Emery? Some players extend for greatness, but he’s not getting that here.

Secondly, should it really matter to any elite club that a 33-year-old is going on strike? Our best defender should be 25, not 9 years older.

There are additional ramifications to this. Arsenal has next to no leaders at the club at the minute. Petr Cech was the main guy last season, he’s at Chelsea. Aaron Ramsey has gone. We’ve lost other characters like Lichtsteiner and WELBZ. A lot of the spice in the side has gone. I hear that it’s not good at Colney, no real energy, no good vibes, just flat as a pancake.

Factor in that we’ve told Mustafi he’s surplus, Chambers has been told he can go, Jenks has known his fate for 3 years, Kola might also be up for sale, Ozil, Mikhi, Xhaka rumoured to want out… we are in really big trouble here.

We have one decent defender that will start this season, with a partner that won’t be interested when we line up against Newcastle. To make matters worse, the Premier League window closes, but the one in Europe doesn’t. There could be 4-5 players starting that first game that could have their minds on other clubs. It’s an absolute disaster.

There is no leadership at the club whatsoever and that’s why issues like the above are happening.

I thought an excellent point was made yesterday. We are in a poor situation financially, and we decided not to make tough squad decisions to remedy our reality. We have two 20+ goal a season strikers, one that is 29 and at the peak of his powers. Liverpool would have sold one for £80m and used the cash to bolster with youth. We decided to up their deals. There seems to have been no plan for a £40m budget we’ve known about since last November.

The biggest worry for me is that this season is all about Emery. There’s no new manager boost incoming. The players don’t care for the man, we saw that towards the end of last season, and we’ve made little effort to bring in names to counter that problem. The true averageness of what we’ve hired is going to come to a head this season. The lack of vision in his hiring will bite us really, really hard.

Wilfried Zaha would liven the starting 11 up, but he has a 5 year deal with Palace and I’m hearing that the valuation Palace have on the player is real and I don’t think it takes a genius to see that the options we’re sending their way are pitiful when it comes to part exchange deals. He’s on a 5 year deal, so they are in no hurry to move him on. So maybe hopes and dreams of them caving are far fetched.

This season is careening off the road before a plane has left the tarmac, and that’s before Xhaka is given the captains armband.

Arsenal is chaos, it’s staggering how badly we’re being run at the minute.

When Zaha is being bandied about you know you are in dire straits.

He’d be an “ok” player added to a group that is collectively mediocre.

Having said that , this prime swamp property is exactly what you get when you dikk around for 10 years while your rivals strengthened. This mess is on the fans.

Marc

“Factor in that we’ve told Mustafi he’s surplus, Chambers has been told he can go, Jenks has known his fate for 3 years, Kola might also be up for sale, Ozil, Mikhi, Xhaka rumoured to want out… we are in really big trouble here.”

Er if we can shift on all the above HAPPY FUCKING DAYS. That’s not real trouble that’s Christmas, Birthday and New Years all in one.

I really don’t get where some of this is coming from.

Freddie Ljungberg

Marc

Exactly, really bizarre from Pedro, that’s a dream summer right there.

Gentlebris

C.G, you are so weird you have begun to scare me.

Marc

Pedro’s been infected by the anti Arsenal disease CG has brought to the blog.

Pray for Pedro!

Receding Hairline

“Ozil, Mikhi, Xhaka rumoured to want out… we are in really big trouble here.”

I don’t see on what planet this can be seen as trouble

This is what everyone has been praying for now the possibility of them leaving is seen as trouble??

Arse&Nose©

We are a complete mess, that’s before we even go into the fact that our best academy players are off because of mismanagement over their contracts. WTF has Mertesacker been doing all year?

Marko

I love that loyalty stuff like Koscielny wasn’t being paid all those years. Hey remember all those years you guys made me a millionaire well I feel like you should let me do what I want and leave for free. It’s the least you can do

Micheal

Good post, Pedro.
We are rudderless, leaderless and totalling lacking a clear vision for the future.
As a long time supporter, I have never felt more pessimistic about the future of our club.
I fear we are on the verge of becoming the next Leeds United or Newcastle.

Arse&Nose©

Pedro, you got to remember how Koscielny reacted to seeing his French teammates win the world cup. He was a little neurotic about being left out of the celebrations as he recovered from injury. Seems as though the sense of entitlement runs deep.

Receding Hairline

“I fear we are on the verge of becoming the next Leeds United or Newcastle.”

Or maybe Doncaster rovers

I mean we only missed out on third place in the PREMIER LEAGUE by two points, that was exactly how the decline started for Leeds and Newcastle.

We may not have a squad of players capable of mounting a title challenge which is were we would all like to be but we really need to stop overstating the issues at the club.

Knoxville

Not to start anything but Koscielny was involved in all our big losses since 2011. Utd, City, Liverpool, Bayern, Chelsea etc. Not a leader for sure.

Gommit

It is all mess since we are unlikely to be able to get new players before deadline day and then afterwards we might be able to ship off the deadwood.. Lack of caracter and leadership in the locker room is a terrible place to be in.

The new season could blow up in our faces very soon.. Or if we are lucky our young guns could turn out to be more than ready and safe our club from falling further into mediocrity

Gashasne

Why all this negative comment … why do you speculate(I know you may have loads to say) .. why all this doom and gloom … nobody told you the plan … the club just announced a couple of days ago its first technical director … it’s First … wait and see his plans … and as for Laurent K. … you have see it at the end of last season .. it was all over … where is that hope you have been writing all this times about our youth … and project youth … I feel we are in… Read more »

The thought of clearing them out feels so sunny, but since we are not bringing players in and can’t get good money to bring players in by selling those plumbers, the training ground would become pale from the absence Of Ozil’s perfume and stuffs like that and that’s Pedro’s point but I don’t care, sell the… Read more »

Nothing about this paragraph screams trouble.

I do agree with one sentiment though, whatever the plan is for the summer we really need to get a move on when it comes to implementing it. I mean if Tierney isn’t attainable who is option B, move for him.

If you want Malcolm get a move on. You want Dani C well get it done.

From the outside fans are right to be jittery( not Leeds United jittery mind you), today is 11th July, League game one is less than a month away

Gbat

So who’s this club that we’re supposed to sell one of our strikers to for £80m?

Another negative post about the club. More negativity towards Emery. All because someone waited 10 years for a new manager and they didn’t hire who they wanted.

salpardisenyc

Seem Arsenal rocking and putting faith in the ole quote:

“If you have never reached rock bottom, you’ve never attended the school of greatness.”

So lets find the bottom seems the plan, think we’ve got the perfect team in place to do just that. Raul seems to of hit the limits to his capabilities, this summer is surely testing the marriage. The man has no plan for situation were in.

Have to say poor from Koz, but weaker from club issuing that statement, read much like a text from my missus in the grocery line. Why say anything at all?

Micheal

The Koscienly issue is obviously stupid and unecessary. But the bigger and far more important question is how the club is drifting like a ship without a rudder.

We have no leadership or ambition – both on the field and off it. We have lost our club captain. Any chance Sleazy Stan might fuck off too.

Marc

“I fear we are on the verge of becoming the next Leeds United or Newcastle.”

The retard disease is spreading fast.

Champagne Charlie

Well it’s July 11th and we’ve not signed or sold anyone of note, so I’d imagine the idea we can replace folk potentially leaving is speculative at best.

This goes back to the pathetic sentiment being circulated internally following our EL embarrassment. The email from Vinai that called for unity and togetherness instead of underlining how this was underperformance and change was afoot.

Leadership is crucial, ours doesn’t seem capable of getting any of the meaningful shit right.

Receding Hairline

Easy there partner, this is how bans happen.

Lacazette is the only player that could be captain material but he is not guaranteed first team football.

Mind you there have been Arsenal bench captains before.

Xhaka as captain of this team will just put the icing on the cake of Arsenal now being a truly Europa League club.

Embrace Xhaka.

Embrace Europa League level.

Marc

Gbat

Nah selling one of our strikers for £80 million is a great idea – then we either spend more that replacing them or when one of them gets injured then we’re really fucked with no back up and no other serious goal threat in the team.

Marc

Everyone it’s not Pedro’s fault – I should have spotted the symptoms earlier.

Switching Peroni for Oat milk, getting a serious man crush on a guy for manager who’s never managed before and indulging that twat CG.

The prognosis for Pedro is even worse than for Arsenal.

Marko

Lacazette as captain? Fuck that stroppy git. Hardly any worthy of it. I’d give it to Leno

Marko

Hey I actually love that oat milk shite now

Ishola70

Plan B if Europa League wasn’t won.

There was no plan B.

Receding Hairline

Maybe we can discuss selling one of our strikers for 80m when we have an 80m bid for one of them. I mean cite Liverpool all you want but there was a bid for Suarez before they sold, they did not put him on the market, they did not pass word around he was for sale, someone actually come in for him and they sold. Coutinho was chased by Barcelona for months to the point of ridiculously overpaying for his services Hazard was chased by Real Madrid. You collect your millions, fuck around inside the storm and drink beer, like Vinai.

Sokratis is too much of a loose cannon.

But if it is between him and Xhaka for captaincy then for the honour and pride of this club has to be the the unhinged Greek.

Clubs sniff players when they’re given encouragement to, Arsenal have vehemently dismissed anything relating to Auba and Lack. But of course you want a club to bid publicly to give you something to chew over. Nice one

Arse&Nose©

No one is chasing Lacazette because very few teams can afford to have such a one dimensional and inflexible forward player.

Rambo Ramsey

Hapless Arsenal management who are embarrassing themselves in the transfer market showing their ‘might’ by shaming a player that’s given 10 years to the club.

I can see exactly what’s going on here.

Champagne charlie

Gentlebris

Pretty much.

Liverpool’s leaders came out after winning the CL and said that was nice but we want to go again and this time win the PL.

Meanwhile we get abused in the EL final and there’s a call for everyone to calm down, everything is fine, Victoria Concordia Crescit everyone, you’re all great people, we have the best of the best, shhhh, it’s all ok.

Chitom

Sokratis/ Kos has been Arsenal’s preferred CB pairing since Holding injury. Emery clearly has identified Mustafi as surplus to requirements and the club is probably working on shifting him, one would hope. How anyone can look at Koscielny tantrum and say just let him go on a free while still under contract is beyond me. Who cares if he’s only fit to play 20 games this season, with his low resale value it’s still worth it to keep him , especially while Holding is still out. After the Baku mauling, plan B for me was selling one of the two up front since club lacks funds to balance out squad properly.

As for nobody bidding for either of those players, helps it club puts out the feelers they are transferable. From all indications thats not been set in motion, one must assume those making decisions are able to get by with what they have to spend.

Its a messy situation to say least.

Zfree

Marko

I don’t think these athletes have or should feel loyalty to a club based on the fact that the club made them millionaires over the years. They have a rare and sought after talent. If not one club, some other club would be paying them. There might be other reasons a player would feel loyal or disloyal to his club but for the really good players, money ain’t one of em.

Gentlebris

Team captain at Ajax was 19 and they reached CL semi, eeh?
Make Rob Holding the captain.

That should be, at least, fun.

Rob yelling at Xhaka during games, ‘ Granit, get some fucking focus!’
And Auba trying hard not to laugh.

“Arsenal have vehemently dismissed anything relating to Auba and Lack. ”

Liverpool were so open to selling Coutinho i guess??? Barcelona did not keep chasing until the price climbed to a world record fee, they simply felt like parting for that much with him.

Can you post evidence of one bid, one quote from an opposing club that they were interested in the services of Lacazette or Aubamyang and were rebuffed by Arsenal???

So after years of hounding of Wenger, this absolute melt is now trying to hound out Emery…. He quite rightly acknowledges the squad is in disarray, and our business model sucks, but then puts the blame at the door of the head coach, who has inherited this mess, and isn’t being backed. The same questions about Koop being good enough defensively were thrown around just 18 months ago. Guardiola inherited the most expensively assembled squad in history, had months to plan, and was backed to the tune of £200 million, he finished 4th He then spend another £170 million, then… Read more »

It really does seem that the pigeons are not just coming home to roost but to shit all over us. Our lack of investment in the squad, the poor contract management and the overpaying means we find ourself with a disjointed poor squad full of underperforming players who cannot be moved on. Our lack of proper management and accountability at board level means we have fallen away in terms of revenue against our rivals. Our continued insistence in club captains… Read more »

Seems the absolute rubbish written about us not having sellable assets has made it’s way to literally our two greatest assets. Hilarious. Sal if you put out “feeler” like your term it you are getting no way near 80m pounds

Add the fact that both players are 30 and 28 respectively and you are swimming against the tide.

VVD would not have gone for 75m if Southampton put out feelers

Coutinho wouldn’t move for 100m+ if Liverpool put out feelers

Putting out feelers is why we have Koscielny agitating to cancel his contract and Ospina moving for 4m euros. Not to mention Scezny or whatever for 10m pounds to Juventus. That’s what happens when you “put out feelers”

Ishola70

As you were chaps.

As we came so close to getting CL football last season all it needs is for Emery’s intense coaching that leaves no stone unturned going into a second season and bridge that tiny step into the promised land of CL football once again.

The club used to be inactive when qualifying for CL.

Now it is inactive when just nearly getting CL football.

Leedsgunner

Xavier Amaechi, one of our best youngsters… has erased all references to Arsenal in his social media after being snubbed by Emery for the US trip.

Hopefully Steve Bould can calm the boy down and bring him around. Bayern and BvB sniffing around hoping for an opportunistic deal on the cheap.

Frustrating that at the moment we’re losing people we should be keeping and having to keep people we could do without.

You see transfers through the eyes of a child I swear. Not being completely against a sale, isn’t the same as trying to punt a player. The first one extinguishes any potential interest, whereas being open potentially to a sale entices interest.
