Well HELLO new signing.
Martinelli takes the prize of being the summers FIRST new body.
Gabriel has made rapid progress during his short time at Ituano. Since making his debut in November 2017 aged just 16 years and nine months, the young forward scored 10 goals from his 34 appearances for the Sao Paulo-based club.
The 18-year-old’s development was also recently acknowledged by the Brazilian national team, with a call-up to the full squad for a training camp in May ahead of the Copa America.
Gabriel was voted as the 2019 Best Newcomer and also a member of the 2019 Team of the Year for the Campeonato Paulista – the football league for the state of Sao Paulo.
The 18-year-old looks a super exciting prospect. He’s fast, he has skilful zest expected of Brazilians and he is on record as saying he is going to be as good as CR7. Or something like that.
This is a great signing. It says we’re serious about bringing in elite youth and it’s a statement to the market that we’re interested in spending good money to make smart bets. It also says that we’re promising a path to the first team.
I very much doubt he’ll be anywhere near the first team this season, but we’ll see, crazier things have happened and he’s very highly rated. We’ve got to hope he’s more Gabriel Jesus than Wellington Silva, and we’ve also got to keep ’em crossed that he likes England!
WHERE ARE THE OLDER BOYS?!?!?!?!?!
We’re still pissing around with Palace and Wilfried Zaha. They are DISGUSTED we’ve bid so low. I know Arsenal fans are also angry about the derisory opening offer. I’m not. It doesn’t matter how good you think he is, he’s been a flop at a major club, his numbers are bland and it’s hard to justify on any level that he’s an £80m player.
£40m plus a player like Jenks/Chambers feels about right to me, so we’ll see where that goes. Palace are stomping their feet, but ultimately, there’s no one else bidding for him and it’s never smart to keep a player that wants to leave… especially a BIG player at a small club.
Also, negotiation normally starts with a derisory bid unless you’re United and the only figure you know is £60m.
Napoli is apparently moving in on Tierney. Again, I’d love to cry about this, but I am British, I know the rules, I was offered a job in Marseille once. Better money, better lifestyle, elite women… I said no, because I couldn’t be arsed to learn the language. I’m naturally ignorant and above that sort of carry-on. Have my doubts Tierney is going to want to go to an inferior league and suffer the indignity of learning something new when he could be taking things to the next level with Ozil on Fortnite.
I might be totally wrong, but I’d wager we’ll land both of them at some point.
More worrying is how few people are bidding for our deadwood. Probs doesn’t help that I’m calling them that. Maybe I should call them the Golden Boys?
As I’ve been saying all summer… if Emery told the Golden Boys they were shite last season and indicated he wanted them gone, they’ll come back salty and it’ll be very disruptive for a manager on the back foot already.
Raul needs to start playing that contacts game. Where’s Harry Redknapp when you need him? Last day of the transfer window is going to be fun.
Finally, the Saliba deal is STILL bumbling along… according to a whole bunch of French journos who appear to have no clue what’s really going on.
We’re also apparently interested in Brahimi on a free transfer… I won’t pass comment, I’d sign your mum up if I had a pen, beggars CANNOT be choosers this close to the Boreham Wood game.
Right, see you in the hell comments.
Pierre
You’ve missed out one key element.
Nothing new there then.
“Arsenal have never had unlimited funds .”
Somebody seems not to be aware of what’s in Stan’s vault…
“Arsenal’s low bid for Wilfried Zaha not true reflection of their transfer reserves”
That’s what she said.
OPEN YOUR F*CKING VAULT YOU F*CKING AMERICAN BASTARD.
Lampard confirmed at Chelsea. Interesting.
@andy : I know what you think… possibility to see Paddy Vieira in charge at Arsenal someday ?? I would say about 5% chances.
We are so cursed.
Pierre I was not advocating that Arsenal should buy Mahrez. The point I was making is that Mahrez would have been considered a “higher value” player in transfer market when Man City bought him last year. Zaha is not as accomplished as Mahrez was then and his market value would be lower than that paid by Man City. On the second point you make I disagree that Arsenal should keep Monreal. He is not good enough as a Centre Back and it was also noticeable how he has lost pace when he played left back last season. Both Koscielny and… Read more »
Pierre
Misappropriation of funds comes to mind.
Pierre Arsenal’s inability to buy new players and compete in market is down to poor management and not our financial clout. Hill-Wood made the case several years ago that there were only two players on the planet who Arsenal could not afford to buy specifically Ronaldo and Messi. That situation has now changed, because of the way we have bought and sold players and mismanaged contracts. The main difference between Arsenal and clubs like Man Utd, Man City, Real Madrid and Barcelona is that they can buy more than one £50 million+ in a transfer window whilst we are probably… Read more »
During the summer transfer windows, there’s a “DO NOT DISTURB” public notice on the board’s office door.
Pierre,

Post written by Maxwell..who is Maxwell Valentin
And of course we still have thousands of Arsenal fans waiting for Ozil to become world class again or who make every excuse under the sun for him, it’s not a pierre thing alone
“Ozil is one of my all-time favourite players, second only to Dennis in garnering my admiration. I choke at the thought of him not playing in red and white any more.”
The above actually renders that article null and void
A post written by an Ozil fan
” Jordi Osei-Tutu has gone, a really promising pacey right back, who might have been tried in order to free up AMN for a more suitable role, but never was. ”
You love Maxwell too i guess Valentin
Stroller We continue to be mismanaged We could have made £50m on Ramsey last summer and had offers for ozil and welbeck but chose to stick and now not only have we made no profit on them but we are losing money weekly with ozil’s extorionate contract. Aubameyang needs to be sold and kroenke needs to release all funds available if we stand any chance of purchasing the 5-6 players required this summer to begin the rebuild. Tierney, Zaha and Saliba would be a good start but we need a central midfielder and another attacking player and potentially another centre… Read more »
“Me? I’d start with Ozil Lacazette and Aubameyang. I’d have AMN, Willock and Bielik as first/second choice midfielders, in any combination according to circumstances. I like several of the attacking youngsters, who should certainly be in the squad, along with Iwobi. Martinez would be my goalie. Central defence and left back might need a bit of shoring up, although there’s not much wrong with Papa, Holding, Chambers and Mavropanos. Monreal has lost too much pace. Koscielny needs a final season like Mertesacker’s. Mustafi… well, Mustafi! Let Xhaka go, let Torreira go back to Italy, sell Elneny, Jenkinson and Mhkitaryan. And… Read more »
“second only to Dennis” ??
Jesus fucking christ…
A Bergkamp/Ozil comparison, nothing better to prove that you’re a true Gooner.
Let’s hope Willock, Nelson and AMN can kick in this season and replicate Rob Holding’s ability to force his way into the side because it’s going to be one hell of a disappointing summer. No way is kroenke giving up more money and any potential buyers know how doesperate we are to offload players and add to our paltry transfer pot.
We are in a worse position than ever. I really don’t trust emery to make anything work next season anyway wether he has £40m or £200m. He’s not got what it takes
Maxwell House?
To think there are folk around promoting such garbage.
If Ozil had not been at the club last season, we would have finished top 4.
No doubt.
The word youngsters is Valentin’s aphrodisiac…i bet he knows the author of that article.
Fans like that are the reason we will remain a mediocre club.
andy1886 Not quite sure what to make of the Lampard appointment. On one hand he is woefully in experienced on the other he knows Chelsea inside out and in Jodi Morris he has a coach who was a key player in the development of the likes of Hudson-Odoi, James and Mount players who would walk into the Arsenal squad. It’s abundantly clear that Chelsea were planning for the registration ban and what I suspect will happen now is that their PR machine will be drip feeding news such as extended contracts , back room staff and they will now sell… Read more »
Chelsea will blossom under fat frank. Just like Arsenal would have under Arteta. Chelsea have the guts to pursue a young and fresh manager and we gave £6m to a journeyman serial choker.
As for this saga regarding Zaha…we won’t sign him. This Brazilian nobody will be it and possibly some crocked 30 year old Spanish pub player.
Also, why the F haven’t we got rid of our shite?
“Also, why the F haven’t we got rid of our shite?”
Maybe because the other clubs are not stupid ??
Guns of Hackney
How do you “sell” Ozil when you have to pay someone to adopt him.
Forget about making a paper lost. We are in negative cash flow territory here.
“Chelsea will blossom under fat frank”
Just like Derby did
Finished sixth, appointed Frank, had the biggest budget in the championship, finished sixth.
Blossomed
HL
It was a rhetorical question ha ha.
Iwobi
Monreal
Kos
AMN
Ozil (obviously not leaving but)
Xhaka
Straight off the bat, there’s £70m.
We will roll into August with the same dirge that we ended last with…just older and even less interested.
Frank Lampard as Chelsea head coach?
Another club overlooks the coaching phenom that is Mikael Arteta.
What about Newcastle? Are they looking at him? Last I heard Patrick and Roberto Martinez were ahead of him…
Arteta, according to Pedro, is going to be the next City manager after Pep goes.
Yeah right.
Dark
I know. Ozil still has £25m to take from us before he retires to Turkey.
RH
Ha ha…so? Fatty might just spark Chelsea into life. Sometimes a buzz is what you need to restart a club, not money.
Arteta would have bought pizazz to the club. Emery brought a tin of magnolia and painted the team with it.
“Chelsea will blossom under fat frank. Just like Arsenal would have under Arteta”
First half of that is wide open – Chelsea have just lost their best player / talisman and can’t bring in a replacement. They are also light in the striker department.
Lampard has a huge job on his hands.
The second part of the statement is bollocks – Arteta has zero managerial experience and expecting someone to be a miracle worker on a first job with the issues Arsenal have is just plain stupid.
Leeds
Arteta will be city’s next manager.
Honestly, you lots have wickedly low magic spotting abilities.
Arteta makes Dumbledore look like a hack.
Besides 6 million is an average salary in the premier league these days.
Stingy Mike Ashley was paying Benitez as much as 6 million.
Arsenal can’t afford to pay the salaries the likes of Diego Simeone the €22 million yearly wages they currently earn.
Arsenal are and have been for many years a “mismanaged” club both administratively and in our football programme. If you want to take lessons on good management you don’t look at Real Madrid, Barcelona,PSG or Man Utd. Despite their financial clout Man City are actually a very well run business and club. They have recruited the most successful manager/head coach in the business and employed intelligent coaches as well. They have built a “team/squad” with few weaknesses and in contrast to the four clubs listed above have spent sensible prices on players. The optimum transfer fee is the £62 million… Read more »

Guns
I think Fat Frank might be what Chelsea need.
He is a company man that understands Chelsea traditional style which is basically Mourinho style. As a young manager, he won’t demand signings, which is what Chelsea can’t provide.
Attacking coaches like Sarri and AVB don’t fit into Chelsea.
Dark
You may just be right. This is why Arsenal not signing Vieira or Arteta was a boo boo.
Emery has not convinced me that he is anything other than a Wenger clone but without the charm and crazy.
Chelsea will finish about Arsenal even without Hazard.
City will offer Arteta the NYC FC job when Guardiola leaves
They will get the best manager money can pay for when Pep leaves.
As it stands club legend Vincent Kompany stands a better chance of succeeding Arteta if he does well in his nascent managerial job.
Arteta is that trainee who never wants to leave the shadow of his teacher – they also call that a professional assistant.
Ffs
The cone putter outer is class.
“Despite their financial clout Man City are actually a very well run business and club. ”
Seriously.
I think Pep is great. I think the footie is nice. Lets stop there.
As it stands club legend Vincent Kompany stands a better chance of succeeding Guardiooa*
GOH
Don’t be a cock. You make out like Edmund Hillary and Tengseng had never been climbing before. Utterly ridiculous comment.
The trouble with Man City is:
1. The Gallagher brothers.
2. Manchester.
Juventus just bid 49.3m pounds plus 9m in add ons for De Ligt.
Dissenter will you be telling them it’s an embarrassing bid since the asking price is 90m or should i do the honors??
Marc
My point is they had never climbed Everest before. It was unknown to anyone.
To suggest that Arteta CANT manage Arsenal is utterly ridiculous.
Arsenal fans are not only dumb, their cowards too.
Chelsea are also a well run club.’
They just have a different philosophy; ‘victory at any cost’
The transfer ban will pay off for them since they have had one of the best academies in England for the past 15 years. They will have to play all those players they keep loaning out.
They’re.
Dissenter makes a good point. Chelsea have about three teams worth of loaners out and about.
I can see Chelsea doing a Ajax this year and coming good with kids from the academy or the loanees returning.
Guns
Emery struggles because his footie is opposite that of Wenger’s.
Arsenal don’t have the players to play his style and no $$ to buy his players.
He is stuck between trying to coach a style new to his players while gunning for CL league qualification, with a grueling schedule with little time for training.
They should have gone for a Carlos Ancelotti type, someone who would work with what’s in front of him rather than reinvent something the players will struggle with.
Lucas Ocampos just joined Sevilla for 11.7m pounds, handy player on his day.
I wonder why he can move for that amount yet Leicester have to pay 30m for Ayoze Perez. Buying within this league isn’t ideal
Receding
‘Dissenter will you be telling them it’s an embarrassing bid since the asking price is 90m or should i do the honors?’
You have that backwards.
I don’t think 40 million is an embarrassing bid to start the Zaha business. I would have offered 35 million since my final offer would be 50 million.
Left to me I wouldn’t go back for Zaha after Palace snubbed a 40 million bid and leaked to the media that they were ‘incensed’.
GOH
They were both experienced climbers. Arteta = zero matches managed.
The way you’re playing this makes it sound like I’m suggesting only someone who had managed Arsenal before could do the job. You can try and twist arguments but you’re talking bollocks.
There is zero evidence that Arteta is a) ready to manage on his own b) will be a good manager.
Dark
Good point. To be honest, Arsene couldn’t play with the chimps he brought in. Barcalite was never going to work with the pigs we have and Emery is, as you say, struggling.
What makes me mad is that Emery was supposed to be this video analysis monster who studied teams and tactics…errr???
Emery landed on his feet. We didn’t.
The fact that Arteta fell for the city pitch [if true] that he will succeed Pep shows how gullible he really is.
Maybe he’s been buying luxury wristwatch gifts for the city hierarchy too.
Marc
Let’s agree to disagree. I think Arteta or Vieria or even Henry ffs could have come in and managed Arsenal. We’re not Real Madrid mate. We’re a small time club with a big wage bill.
Emery will get his second season and it will be worse than the first. You’ll see.
Dissenter
What on earth would city gain out of lying to Arteta?
Pep will leave and he will 100% back Arteta for the job and why would city disagree? It may not work out but so what?
As for the watch jibe…it was a combined gift from the team. A bit naff, but a generous offer.
GOH
Different argument. Emery fucked up the end of the season and I don’t think he’ll get an extension after this season but that doesn’t mean someone with zero experience is right for the job. Vieira is out learning his trade Arteta needs to do the same at a smaller club first.
Marc
Shall we agree that Emery is a stinker and move on?
The next manager of Arsenal has to be someone with excitement.
I’d rather Arsenal crash being cool than tread water being dull.
“Emery will get his second season and it will be worse than the first. ” At which point he will get sacked..end of. If we keep buying in players suitable to the league and at the right stages of their career and keep bringing down the wage bill we will be fine. Darlings Liverpool and Spurs also made their fair share of bland hires What’s funny is that beat Brighton at home and we will all be talking about how he came in and finished third in his first season. Makes all this belly aching ridiculous because finishing third last… Read more »

What is the barest minimum for the upcoming season? And what happens when Emery is offered a new contract? Especially when he fails to meet the top4 target again
Emery won’t get sacked as he’s an Arsenal stooge. Perfect man for a middle of the road club.
“In a two horse race, I’d finish second to Usain Bolt. True, I’d finish a day after him but still…” What two horse race?? The bumbling hire finished two points behind Sarri ( moved to Juventus, now hailed as special sauce manager) Finished a point behind Pochettino ( Top three manager in the world according to some on here) All these while getting used to a new league, managing injuries etc……..This rush to portray last season as some flop we all are not used to or finishing fifth as the worst possible finish we could have had no matter how… Read more »

You do realize that there’s a financial cost for getting rid of the manager who missed CL qualification narrowly.
Unless the new managerial hire is a 100% guarantee to do better, why take the plunge?
Cost of sacking Emery and his assistants is about 10-12 million. Hiring a new manager [and his crew] is another 10-12 million]
Then the new manager will need guarantees- who wants to work in our state of static chaos, we can’t even appoint a director of football FFS.
RH
It was an out there analogy. Emery could have got third, he didn’t…he decided to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory to make himself look even more uninspired.
Batistuta most of you seem to think Unai Emery is a stupid manager, he is anything but a stupid man. Yes he was caught between two minds last season between the Europa league and top four and ended up blowing both in embarrassing fashion but i see reasons for that and i am a bit more understanding.
Do you also believe fifth was the worst possible finish for us last season before a ball was kicked?? Did you believe we will be discussing blowing a third place finish come the end of the season??
Have we signed Zaha yet?

I think you should have redirected that Juventus offer for De Light to certain sections of the British footballing tabloids and the drama queens at Crystal Palace who are determined embarrass Arsenal.
I learned now to ‘bargain’ at Jankara market. I rate Zaha at 50 million max. My first bid would have been 35 million.
GOH ‘It was an out there analogy. Emery could have got third, he didn’t…he decided to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory to make himself look even more uninspired’ Individual errors caused us in those key games; Auba missing 3 yard tap-in sitters when the season is on the line at home Mustafi mentally checking out and failing at the basics Mykhi couldn’t make a one yard pass to save his life Xhaka having his usual brain fart and tugging a player who was dying to dive in the box. Juventus are haggling for Icardi too.
That’s one club that leaves EVERYTHING on the field. I bet they don’t have £100 million idling away in the bank vaults.
“Juventus are haggling for Icardi too.”
Well they need him
Fat boy Higuain has been asked to leave. Mandzukic is 33 years old. They seem open to cashing in on Moise Kean which is weird
My expectation is that Lampard’s managerial career will begin in the same way as Solskjaer’s did. They’ll get a an initial boost which will tail off after a dozen games or so. Frank will probably do a bit better long term, he has the transfer ban which will limit expectations and playing the likes of Hudson-Adoi and Ampadu will gain him credit with the fans, but ultimately I can’t see him winning titles and he’ll be on his way in two or three years max.
Arteta has still not been offered a managerial job anywhere. Zero. None. Why’s that I wonder
As I posted earlier, Ozil is the main reason why we finished outside the top 4.
Imagine having a persistent migraine without the medication.
The consequences would affect anyone.
Also that Maxwell guy……………ffs!!!!!!
Lampard will be a success.
Just a gut feeling.
Guardiola’s current contract keeps him at City till summer of 2021.
Meaning Arteta is content to keep “learning” for two more seasons while others do the actual job of management. Longest internship in history.
Although in fairness he is 37 and some of his age mates still play, he will be 39 by the time Pep’s present contract runs out.
Who do you guys reckon has been worse for us ? Ozil or mhiki??
I only asked a pretty innocent question… Dissenter I’m not in anyway talking about last season, I’m saying what is the barest minimum for next season and at what happens if Emery is offered an extension even if he doesn’t make top 4. Every criticism of Emery even when justified has always been met with heavy opposition which is what Pierre and co did steadily for Wenger. I defended him too for most parts last season but he’s had one full year now so no excuses really for next season for me. Top 4 or the Europa league and a… Read more »

Juventus are not Arsenal, they’re not exactly in a hurry or don’t need to quickly tie up the Icardi deal to face other targets as they’d still win the league even without Icardi or De Light.
Arsenal on the other hand don’t have the same luxury to use the whole summer trying to wrap up one deal as we’ve got other areas we need to strengthen
Zimmie,
Was just about to link to the ESPN article……a total contrast to “Maxwell’s” sunny optimism!
Zimmie a very exaggerated article. Things are not that bad and Zaha is not an 80m pound player so a 40m pound bid was not a sign of mediocrity
“Arsenal on the other hand don’t have the same luxury to use the whole summer trying to wrap up one deal as we’ve got other areas we need to strengthen” Please do not repeat this idea a club cannot work on more than one deal at a time anywhere else You criticized the club for making what you believed was a derisory bid for Zaha, now Juventus have done exactly the same because guess what de ligt wants to join them just as Zaha wants to join us. It’s galling that we threw away top 4 in the last few games, but we still ended at a point where I would have been happy at beginning of the season. If our transfer business over the summer amounts to Gabriel and Tierney and we go into the new season with Ozil, Mkhitaryan, Xhaka, Mustafi, Monreal and Koscielny… then I’d be happy with 5th. It’s a conclusion I think nearly anyone would reach when looking at the facts.
What’s the outstanding balance on Ozil’s contract?
Anyone?
Conflictincting reports regarding Monreal.
Some saying that a year extension was already activated a while back.
While he has been a good servant of the club he has been clearly regressing along with Koscielny.
If he is kept on will just show again the financial limitations at Arsenal.
Rumor is that Stan Kroenke will meet with the rest of his stuff at to discuss this summer TW. Probably he has read that financial report and realizes that he may lose more money if Arsenal continues to decline.

See you’re confusing me with someone else, probably because you seem to want to engage multiple folks at the same time.

Where we had a discussion about offering what the selling club wants was in regards to Tierney
@Nelson : that would be far too beautiful to be true.
At this stage in the transfer window proceedings, apart from an apparent lack of urgency, everything is as clear as muck. 1) to what extent are we going for a “Project Youth 2.0” blueprint? If so, who is getting promoted from the U-23s to supplement acquisitions? 2) what are Weldon great about getting rid of some of our overpaid dross(Mikki/Mesut)/journeymen squad fillers (El Neney)/ageing defenders (Kos and Monreal) and walking disaster zones (Mustafi/Xhaka)? 3) will we have a revamped central defence when the window shuts? 4) will he have any width/wingers when the window shuts? 5) what are we doing… Read more »

£36.4m give or take. £350k per week for another 2 years.

There were farewells to Cech, Ramsey and Welbeck at the end of last season. Official farewells.
Seems very strange doesn’t it that an official farewell was also not done in regards to Monreal who has been a good servant of the club.
That there was no farewell made to him would suggest he is staying put for another season.

Have a look at what Bloc Party said about the Gallaghers. Very droll.
£36.4m for an amphibious creature that plays Fortnight. That’s a win.
