Arsenal stutter as rivals make BIG moves

by .

Arsenal fans going through the meat grinder today.

Spurs are about the drop £70m on Ndombele, one of the best young midfielders in the world. United have landed Waan Bissaka for £50m. TEARS ALL OVER THE STATION FLOOR.

Meanwhile, David Ornstein has Arsenal out here contemplating selling Auba to find Wilfried Zaha (Palace trying to remove his sell on clause whilst negotiating with United), whilst also chasing Saliba and Tierney.

I’m not that fussed about losing Auba, he’s a very well paid 29-year old I’m not sure we have the luxury of having at this stage of our decline, certainly not if we’re going to have to up his salary. However, those goals are going to need to come from somewhere and it’s a huge ask to expect Zaha to double his output this season. Or are we thinking about giving Eddie a more senior role?

Unless the manager thinks the whole system lacked a good wide player, which will make the entire team score more goals. I mean, he could think that catching X on the overlap just needs better parts… in that case, I really am worried.

It’s frustrating to read around some of the Arsenal accounts trying to find reasons as to our decline when it’s been staring them in the face for years.

No club in the world has consistently made more bad decisions than Arsenal over the past 5 years.

We were way ahead of Spurs and Liverpool 5 years and we’ve blown our lead by giving £350m to a busted manager who spent it in a half-arsed way, we’ve given contracts to players that didn’t deserve them, we hoarded players and lost them for nothing, failed to give actual talent deals quick enough, refused to move our wage bill to one that was more meritocratic, gave Wenger a new deal despite him being on life support, sacked him and spent £17m to undo the mistake, then doubled down on our mistake by hiring in a head coach that has managed to make the whole scenario worse.

It’s even starting to look like we’ve blown a whole summer waiting for Edu to arrive at the club.

We don’t stop doing making the wrong moves.

Still, the one thing you can take from all of this… success isn’t permanent. Things can south pretty quickly in world football. They can also move north pretty quickly.

If Edu comes in and he’s made of the sort of stuff I have heard he is, then we might be capable of making a climb back to the top.

We need a vision, a footballing philosophy and someone that is going to hold people accountable for delivering. There needs to be a proper plan in place. Football shouldn’t be that complicated. It always has and always will start with hiring in great people. Your structure means fuck all if there are talent holes in it. Currently, we look like the aftermath of a drive-by shooting.

This season is already setting up in mediocre fashion. Europe is waiting to see what happens with our dross, so they’ll likely be with us at the start of the season. We are struggling to push deals for our targets over the line. There seems to be no hope of moving on Ozil. It’s also looking unlikely that we’ll be adding any sort of volume to the setup. 3-4 players max, with the rest being made up with internal promotions and return loanees.

… but there’s still time to make things happen. So don’t lose faith yet. But do realise this, we are in another transition year, because Edu is going to come in with new ideas and we’re most likely going to see what peak-Emery looks like… it won’t be pretty.

Let’s just hope the next manager has some really talented kids to work with. Let’s hope some of the youth step up when given a chance this season. Let’s hope Freddie can offer up a little bit of something special. Let’s hope season two of Matteo and LT is the next level.

The most important signing will be Edu. If we’ve blown that move, we are heading into longterm irrelevance as meteor-like speed. He really has to bring the goods and he has to be utterly ruthless in implementing his ideas.

Right, that’s me done, see you in the comments x

No problem, I indicated to turn right earlier but actually turned left instead.

Luckily for me, I only confused an oncoming cyclist.

Just doing my bit.

Auba to MU.👀

Marc

“Auba to MU”

Even more click bait.

After RVP do you think Arsenal would hand an almost guaranteed 20 plus PL goals a season to one of the teams we’re competing with for 4th?

That’s a nice attempt to break the ice and press the reset button.

Gentlebris

‘Is this the same Leicester who are quoting £80 – £100 million for Maguire?’

Don’t say it for them on Ndidi, bid and see what they have to say.

We could have got Kante for £30m.

Who knows maybe Ndidi has a buy out clause in there.

Silverhawk

Saliba to Tottenham. You can’t make this shit up. 😂😂

Gentlebris

Auba to United?

Ok.

Aguero to Liverpool then and Kane to Arsenal.

CG

Silver hawk.

St. Etienne are running rings over Raul and Co with this deal.

They are linking Spurs to the player.
(Page 1-Raul!!!!)

To drive up the Ante

He looks a great prospect.
Physically Imposing….and fit as fiddle

We should just pay extra and get the player now – and by Christmas have him partnered up with Holding…

If we cant get the player now
Walk away.

That is negotiating!

Silverhawk

CG

My thoughts too. Propose a 6 months loan. And a player too (Mavropanos). Should seal the deal.

Elmo

Ffs. David Peckham muscling in on the England v Norway game at women’s WC. Puts me off even watching it now.

Gentlebris

The trials of brother Wenger!

Did he think he could sell his highest goal scorer(RVP) to United and still pipe them to the title that season?
Or did he think he should just ignore the title for that season and try the next one?

Or more likely, DID HE FAIL TO THINK?

Samesong

The pope to manage Newcastle.

Damn now belik wants out
.is he any good ?

CG

Or compromise at the very least.

We get the player in Jan at the very latest….

Paying £28 million for a player and waiting a whole year for him- Is frankly pathetic and inept….
We are dealing with St. Etienne – minnows from France….for gawd sake.

Marc

RSPC

He looks a prospect – the Spud supporting press are doing a good job of winding up Arsenal supporters.

Fucking hell is Danny Welbeck playing in disguise for the England’s Women’s team?

At least we now know there was a bid indeed.

Guendouzi having a very good game here. Can we just offer Leipzig our whole budget and Mustafi for Konate and Upamecano. Fuck it give them all our CB’s too

Cesc Appeal

I like how ‘skint Arsenal’ is The Sun’s new fetish.

Everything is ‘skint Arsenal make offer…’ or ‘fresh blow for skint Arsenal’ or ‘skint Arsenal robbing charity boxes around London’.

Could do with a chunk of that France u21 spine Mateta, Aouar, Konate.. why not throw in Tousart if our lil man is having jitters.

Marc

Cesc

It’s got to be down to a couple of things.

1) We have a huge online support that generates hits every time they do this.

2) They are Spud’s supporters on a wind up.

Is football London the worst bait clicking site there is on news now …

Scum never a story.

Marko

Elmo

CA

Lol! Wenger Out sold papers for years and ‘skint Arsenal’ having to seedily scrounge about in the gutter, being humiliated by the likes of Neil Lennon, St Etienne, Chris Sutton, Charlie Adam and any other small-time entity who wants a crack also seems to drive revenue generation.

We need to bounce back and rub it in their faces.

Cesc Appeal

Marc

I think they know that Arsenal fans are pissed off and if they post a controversial story it is going to get loads of hits and people are going to be tweeting about it etc and it will drive traffic.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see a ‘Spurs look to steal Arsenal youngster’ story soon with regards to Saka or something.

Cesc Appeal

Clip of that Guendouzi pass going round…what a ball. I really don’t agree with people who think he’s a nothing, I think he’s got a lot of ability for a very young player. People are forgetting he was asked to play way too much football last year considering his lack of experience and having just arrived in the EPL. I certainly would play Torreira at CDM and then when we do play Guendouzi given him that CM role slightly more advanced. If he develops as a midfield player he has a bit of everything and could be an all round… Read more »

Zagadou has told BvB he wants to leave.

Apparently we have an interest but I would imagine they will ask for £30 Million for him. Unless we can offer them Kozz and £20 Million I don’t see it.

Saliba, Zagadou and Holding as options going forward would be something though.

HillWood

Elmo

More reputable sources in France today and elsewhere said the deal is done at about £22-23 Million and he will be loaned back.

I think Yahoo Sports is where the Spurs story has come from. There was rumoured interest from them weeks back and it sounds like a recycled story.

I just don’t click on the sites. I’m not being part of this whole devious ploy.

Looking forward to ‘Kroenke plans to move “skint Arsenal” to Wyoming’.

Marko

CA he’s an obvious talent who’s coming on leaps and bounds. It’s just unfortunate for him that he came into one of the more scrutinized and underperforming group of midfielders in English football. He’s definitely got tremendous upside to him but in saying all that he shouldn’t be starting that much at a club like Arsenal. Great potential though

Marko

Konate or Upamecano over Zagadou for me. Huge potential as well but I think he’s a little slower than the other two.

Graham62

Marko

I was tempted but decided to go for a walk with my wife instead.

Cesc Appeal

It would be interesting to see actually what effect a £20-25 Million plus Kozz offer would have for Zagadou.

Better than fucking around for Izzo at £15 Million or Comert at £7 Million.

If we manage to sell one of Mustafi or Chambers we could cover half the fee as well.

One transfer window, net £30 Million spend on CBs and we could have sorted out CB problem for the next 10 years.

Marc

Cesc

There’s bound to be some story on those lines.

I for one am very happy that the window closes before the season starts.

Graham62

Guendouzi will fill out and get stronger.

He would have learnt from last season.

See him taking several steps forward next season.

Marc

Cesc

If Mustafi has any value you’d think it would be back in Germany. We not offer him.

Marc

Why not not we not!

salpardisenyc

Sloppy defending from France but that Pen was so s o f t given from Konate contact.

Tobs

It’s no wonder we can’t offload the players we would like to. Welbeck is available on a free, but I haven’t heard the faintest whisper about him.

It will be a great feat to get any of Mustafi, Xhaka or Mkhi off our books this summer.

Tobs

France in trouble

Marko

I was tempted but decided to go for a walk with my wife instead.

Graham you know what they call that…self improvement

Cesc Appeal

Marc ‘If Mustafi has any value you’d think it would be back in Germany. We not offer him.’ Not the best negotiation tactic to open up by insulting someone! Unless you can play it off as a joke. In all seriousness if Zagadou has asked to leave, there was rumoured interest in Kozz from them, there’s a chance to get something done. That might push Mustafi toward the exit as he realises he’s now behind Zagadou, Sokratis, Holding, Mavropanos, the tea lady, DT from Arsenal Fan TV, that bloke who’s been going to Arsenal since 1957 and the statue of… Read more »

Konate done himself no favors there either.

Cesc Appeal

Not sure you can blame Guendouzi totally for that.

Marko

Sal I’m just surprised you’re not blaming Emery for that goal

Nelson

The two CBs in the France U21 team really suck. Game over!

Jamie

I expect more from a £70m player..

salpardisenyc

Christ im not blaming anyone, gorgeous goal but its pretty comedic from Guen and Konate chasing shadows.

Gbat

Not saying they aren’t any good but I’ve not been impressed with the Upamecano or Konate this tournament.

Marko

Sure you’re not Sal. You saw a couple lads commenting on his good performance in the first half and now you’re commenting on a mistake he made. I get it that’s the way it goes around here.

Marko

Prior to tonight the French goalkeeper made zero saves. Leipzig had the best defence in Germany last season. We would be lucky to have either one of them

salpardisenyc

Marko

Always the agenda and soft snarky jabs. Why not give it a breather you’ve done a real job of making le grove tedious for many.

That takes some doing.

Marko

It wasn’t meant to be taken seriously Sal. It was a joke. About the agenda you help perpetuate around here. You know it was a piss take.

Gentlebris

‘The two CBs in the France U21 team really suck. Game over!’

You there Marko?

Our supposed prospective heroes sucks at an under 21 tournament.

If Saka played for Dortmund or Leipzig, Marko would be eager to trade our whole squad and the Emirates for him.

Gentlebris

*suck

Marko

3 clean sheets in 4 tournament games. 12 clean sheets in 28 league games for Konate last year 5 in 15 in an injury plagued season for Upamecano. I wouldn’t read too much into tonight’s game. Aouar is still a very good player as well

We might end up doing a Suarez again this summer. Seems these guys are roaming about looking for bottom bargains who ‘MIGHT LIKELY FIT IN’ And I don’t blame them. Inadequate cash and we can’t raise any selling players. No one’s interested in the flops we are pushing. Tough times really. I’m not sure we are going in for that Celtics kid again, and this Saliba rumours might just be nothing. How can you be this broke and drop £20m+ on a deferred player. See that Spuds are splashing the cash on Jack Clarke from Leeds.

£8.5m.

Talented youngster.

Ishola70

I can see the Kroenke protests building up as the coming season progresses. But the fans have got to be truthful to themselves. It’s about the scrapping of self-sustainability as much as getting rid of the man Kroenke. This is a man that has invested $1.6bn into the LA Rams but £0 into Arsenal FC and treats the club as an offshore bank account. This club needs short term investment from outside and this will become apparent by the end of the transfer window. An owner who is willing to invest as well as being openly passionate about the club… Read more »

Ishola70

An added bonus of an owner who invests is no more suits like Gazidis or Gazidis clones like the current Vinai preaching the benefits of self-sustainability.

It sustains them very nicely personally this set-up but in pure footballing terms in regards to Arsenal FC it is sustaining nothing.

This is a classic case of let them eat bread the peasants on the streets being the Arsenal fans while the suits continue to get fat behind the royal gates.

Flush them out the lot of them. Flush this fat corporate pig down the toilet.

while over at arsenal we’re still waiting for the end of tournements or July 1 before announcing Martinelli Lol,arsenal is fast becoming a stale joke that’s no longer funny, people don’t laugh at us anymore, they rather feel sorry for us.

Victorious arsenal became a stale joke a long time ago…..in the days when we were being stuffed 8-2 and 6-3 and 5-0 and 6-0 but of course you and your merry band we’re full on ‘arsene knows best’….I am from Kenya and I can tell you for a fact wearing the arsenal jersey here is embarrassing….
