European transfer market off to slow start

by .

via @Arsenal Instagram LOVE THESE TWO

Oh ffs Arsenal, hurry up and sign some fucking players.

West Ham are out there making deals for players, where are ours? We have a month until the team travel to America, chop, chop.

I understand that almost ZERO major clubs are doing deals so far, but sheesh, can a man not moan?

I think the added tension is that we’re running without a Head of Recruitment. There have been rumblings that the decision-making process is less than ideal. I really hope that’s not true. Sven has been exited for many months now, it’s been pretty damn clear the whole time what this squad needs this summer… so let’s hope that Raul has it buttoned up.

I love how fans start retrofitting ideals into the reasons why… ‘I hear Adidas want to launch with new players.’

Now, I might be totally wrong… but kit launches are not about new players, they are about the BRAND BRAND BRAND. Very much doubt Adidas are holding up our summer.

More likely reasons are:

  • Sell before you buy
  • The market is waiting for the first big move to set wheels in motion
  • No one wants to buy our shite players

Meanwhile, fans continue to bemoan absent Stan and whip themselves into a frenzy about him not investing money into the club.

It’s such a falsehood. Ill-informed people saying dumb things because it gets a round of applause on Twitter.

‘HE SHOULD INVEST HIS OWN MONEY’

Why?

I kind of feel like that’s a similar argument to, ‘Pep will never be deemed a great until he does it with Barnsley.’

Stan Kroenke is mainly guilty for putting too much trust into an ailing manager 90% of the fanbase was calling daddy 3 years ago. Seriously, it’s mostly exAKBs that push the Stan narrative and it’s an uncomfortable reality that they were all backing Wenger being armed with big money for years. Now it’s Stan’s fault for not firing him? A situation that would have put thousands of men into therapy with daddy issues.

He’s also guilty of signing off far too much money on absolute dross. The issue has never been the lack of money, it’s been dropping £350m+ on shite players with no resale value.

Let’s hope that changes this summer when the moves start happening.

Right, quick post to keep the wheels in motion.

See you tomorrow x

Pedro, There is absolutely nothing wrong with a self-sustainable model. The issue is that we have been badly managed for a few years now. Unfortunately until that change, spending inordinate amount of money would not change our prospects. ManUtd the richest club in the world has spent ridiculous amount of money and yet it ended up below is. On the other hand Spurs did not spend money at all for the last two TW ans it did ended up in front of us. That prove that money can make the difference, but that good management is still the critical element… Read more »

Shit top 10?

Mr Serge

Man you first top 4 people are weird
It’s a bit too early to worry about us signing players it will happen in the next couple of weeks, personally I prefer us to sell our dross first

Danialtos

Let me just say it …it’s been long since I saw a post without a single mention of the big bad evil emery

Mr Serge

Love us to buy Tierney and the 3 youngsters we are linked with but we need a proper older CB and a winger too

Danialtos

I have watched alot of female world cup action and I can confidently say, apart from obvious differences in physical abilities, some of the women. esp from Brazil,Us and the Netherlands would put some of our players to shame

David Smith

Not just Wenger, and his well paid cohorts, Stan also kept on Gazidis and all his indulgences.
Absent, but also lazy and neglectful. Just hoping JK has a much better handle on things, as I suspect he will

Danialtos

Also to the Under 21 action….if we are going project youth…our Scouts should be all over Poland,Germany and Spanish and French teams

Valentin

Are you putting the words success and spurs together?

They are a well managed club financially with that we agree on but what success? Finishing runners up in Europe and 4th in the league is not success. 58 seasons without a league title is not success. 35 years without any European trophy is not success and 27 years without an Fa cup is not success.

Valentin

Atid, Ask Tanguy NDombele who does he think is currently the most successful club between Arsenal and Spurs. Trophy is not the only criteria to qualify success. Context, accomplishment versus expectation is everything. Out of the Big 6, Spurs have the smallest budget, so theoretically should have the least success of the big 6. Yet they have been one of the most consistent: top 4 and decent run in the Champion’s League. A lot of our own fans would take their last few years achievements over winning a few FA Cups. Reaching the Champions’ League final is a greater accomplishment… Read more »

There is 2 very young and solid players I’ve been doing some digging on, 1st player is gokhan fikri, hes a solid centre mid, good range of passing good eye for that killer crunching tackle, and to top it off hes got a great arse. 2nd player goes by the name of akin nidainy, hes an attacking mid, great vision, can play with both feet and has a wicked shot on him, he glides on the pitch with ease and to top him off he sucks a mean dick.
Both players very affordable and needed for this arsenal team.

Dissenter

WTF is wrong with Bellerin?
Maybe this fashion/modelling career will boost his transfer value and we can shift him on peacefully next summer.
He’s too full of drama. Pedro will love him though, proper banter material.

China1

The reason why fans are edgy so early in the transfer window is that we suck and signings are the number 1 thing that can help with this.

If this was 2004 and we were not moving quickly people would be far more patient.

China1

I’ve never bought into the whole it’s hard to sign players because not many other teams have

If you offer reasonable sums for players, clubs will take you seriously regardless of what’s happening elsewhere

China1

Every time in the past arsenal have used the excuse of a slow moving market, it meant the same thing as ‘players and agents are on holiday’ and ‘it’s hard to sign players during a World Cup/euros summer’

All of these are quite explicit code language for we are waiting for August bargains

Repost from last night, didn’t expect Pedders to have put up a late post. AH post @ June 20, 2019    22:29:03 This is indeed great news!! Good to see Gooners trying to be vocal against Kroenke. It will take a bit of time. But it’s not entirely impossible. Kroenke current situation is tied to in part by the performance of Raul and Vinai over the next 2 seasons. There is a lot of work to do. Pedro “‘HE SHOULD INVEST HIS OWN MONEY’ Why?” 1):because it is possible we may need serious investment in the team if we want to even remain competitive for the top 4 , let alone competing for the title.. 2) unlike liverpool, we have no coutinho type player to sell to finance the signings of elite players. 3) Other clubs below us are seriously investing in their teams and will quite possibly be passing us by in the coming season or 2. 4) having a self sustaining model has become a major hindrance to the club. 5)without investment, fans will become… Read more »

One thought on the lack of transfers, we no doubt have primary, secondary etc targets for each position we’re interested in. I’m sure if we’d made CL our targets would have been more straightforward to acquire. As it is it’s say Zaha as our No 1 target, if not him then Carrasco etc, so it’s a game of brinkmanship. The wages we can offer should not be a problem, the transfer fee maybe more of a sticking point. I do believe these next ten days will be busy. Graham, Every club is moving to a bigger stadium. If Arsenal had stayed at Highbury, it would not be competing against the Big 6, but against WestHam, Fulham and Charlton. Highbury had a lower capacity, no possibility to have executive boxes and club level seats that bring extra revenue. David Dein wanted Arsenal to move to Wembley. That would have destroyed the spirit of the club. Look at how a temporary move to Wembley started to affect Spurs. The biggest mistake made was Gazidis not behaving as the man in charge. I know we’d pissed money away but I didn’t realise it was that much. Where could we have been if that had been invested properly.

Marc

Valentin

Agree – we had a period of austerity after the stadium move – it was shitty but we got through it maintaining CL football. The real downfall started once we started to spend bigger money.

It would be hysterical if it happened to another club but fuck me.

Valentin, I am certainly not here to defend Gazidis, and you are correct about him not behaving like a man in charge, but in fairness to him, Stan put Wenger in charge of just about everything, and kept him there until virtually the end. Gazidis had Wenger on his interview panel, others including the at the time Celtic CEO turned down our CEO role , I am sure in part due to Wengers overarching role. Basically, Ivan had no say on anything over Wenger, I do wonder if Ivan leaving so suddenly was some sort of revenge served cold for… Read more »

I have to say that I’ve always been puzzled by Pedro’s hostility to the idea that an owner should, perish the thought, actually invest in order to grow his own business.

Players, not stadiums or other physical infrastructure, are a football club’s core assets. What’s wrong with an owner (within the applicable rules) injecting funds into their club in order to grow their core assets? We’re not exactly talking about anti-capitalist behaviour.

Jamie

Chelsea have really struggled to establish themselves as a super club by staying at Stamford Bridge with 3k capacity more than Highbury.

Graham62

Valentin

Not disputing our stadium move was not the right thing to do, just highlighting the fact that those put in charge dealt with things badly..

If you have a Sustainable Business Model, at least plan some logic behind it. As for the Gazidis/Wenger relationship, enough said.

Graham62

For all we know, Kroenke may already be taking measures to bail us out of this mess.

The internal restructuring will take a great deal of time ,and effort, to sort out. Ultimately though, Kroenke is responsible for our financial predicament.

Our short term goals though are to try and balance the books and offload all the deadwood.

Easier said than done.

Words on a Blog

Jamie, “Chelsea have really struggled to establish themselves as a super club by staying at Stamford Bridge with 3k capacity more than Highbury.” Exactly. For most clubs other than Man U and Arsenal, match day revenues are only a small part of the equation. TV money, commercial sponsorship revenues and etc are more important revenue streams. These revenue streams depend on the club’s football success (position in league table and success in European and domestic cups). In order to “supercharge” success, you sometimes need players better than you already have, and owners can and do occasionally inject funds into their… Read more »

Pedro And again you give Stan a free pass. I don’t get it- I assume you’re not on the pay roll. Blaming Kroenke or any owner is an uncomfortable truth and one that’s far harder to deal with than blaming a manager. The project youth 2.0, or as you like to see it, Dortmund plus narrative, amounts to ‘the same old shit’ at Arsenal. Run the club cheaply, rely on youth and average journeymen and dress it all up as arsenal ‘values’. Instead of wenger presiding over this plan, we now have the brains trust in charge. Pedro My major criticism of Stan is that he shows no commitment to the Club, he is not a fan. I can forgive him for not ‘throwing his own money’ at the Club, because there has never been a need for that. Arsenal has always been self-sustaining and, properly run, there is no reason why that should end. The problem is, as you will agree, the Club has been badly-run. Graham62, “For all we know, Stan may be taking measures to bail us out of this mess. I think he’s taken something like 6 million out of the club. Again the poorly assembled squad of players on bloated hindering wages isn’t on Stan it’s on others. We are now somewhat hamstrung by what he could do thanks to ffp.

Un na naai

Pedro has such a blind spot when it comes to Stan. It’s so clear he cares nothing for the success of the team and only for the money he can’t make from owning the club. The two are very much mutually exclusive as we continue to generate profit and to sit on an absolute fortune while the team continues to regress post wenger.

Our fall has coincided with Stan’s arrival at the club. It’s no coincidence Pedro. Hiring Emery is on him too. Why are you letting the boss of the company off the hook? This ain’t advertising.
