New kits look amazing + transfer gossip

by .

Well, well, well… our favourite creator has only gone and done it again. He went and got married, and it’s just been amazing to watch Arsenal internet go into action.

The German World Cup winner had Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as his best man. Imagine the state of the stag-do?

Soho House in Istanbul, followed by some super dark activities you probably can’t by on LADSONTOUR.COM.

The banter was amusing though. Fans talking about him padding his stats for the dance where he hardly moved. Apparently, he took a seat for his vows, little to no intensity in pressing on until full-time. Just good times all around.

I love the idea of Vinnai, fresh from talking to the fans about the ‘proud of you strategy’, landing the memo about the best man. The closest thing to a dictator in Europe, taking a leading role at your most expensive players’ wedding… a lovely message to send to the world. But see what I mean about that vision? It’s subjective. We won’t hold ourselves accountable to it.

There’s so much transfer gossip on the table at the minute it’s hard to make any sense of it.

The most important piece for me is the news that Granit Xhaka could be off to Inter Milan. The reason that one sparks interest is firstly, he’d be very suited to that league. Secondly, despite what an absolute disaster he’s been for us, he still carries a lot of value in Europe, because he can control a game from deep if he’s given time. Thirdly, there’s a rumoured agreement about Champions League football.

Suits me people, the big worry is this… who do we bring in to replace him? Ideally, we’d find someone who was stronger, had more mobility, and preferably someone who could dribble the ball forward if needed. Xhaka makes us very one dimensional, we need someone with a more holistic skillset that would suit the high-intensity approach of the Premier League.

The hot story for players-in seems to centre around Joachim Anderson and Dennis Praet. Anderson is a tall ball playing centre back of 23 years old, with Dennis Praet looking more like a Ramsey like replacement without the goals or assists. I don’t know enough about either, my worry is that when you sign out of Italy, you’re forgoing any understanding of whether they will be able to deal with the intensity of the Premier League. Even LT, who looked like a beast, faded badly with the season. The bigger concern is Praet if I’m honest, his numbers are abysmal in terms of production, and for a club that depended so heavily on two strikers, you’d hope we’d be looking at players that can contribute more to the goal tally.

Then you move up to the wingers. Yannick Carrasco has apparently taken as much as he can of China and is trying to claw a way back. The Belgian comes with the attitude baggage of Mesut Ozil. The press constantly referenced his issues under Simeone, namely that he was a bit of a bitch about injuries. The mere fact he ducked out to China at 25 also tells as story. We all know a recruitment consultant that took a job in Dubai, right?

On his day, he’s scoring goals in the Champions League final. He’s had to play under a beast regime for Simeone. He has pace, trickery and he’s very technical. However, we’re not buying into someone who has consistently delivered. For me, he could blow-up now he’s hitting the latter stages of his career, or he could go the way of Nani.

I guess the challenge we have at Arsenal now is the offering is very, very Europa League. We have a manager that made the product offering less glamorous, the whole world knows that Erdogan’s boy thinks he’s not a coach, and there’s no guarantee you’ll get better at Arsenal.

The club is an exciting offering, but not under this regime. So you either end up with players that can’t be arsed, or players that you’re taking a huge talent gamble on. I have very little faith Emery has the sauce to make the right talent gambles. We all saw Suarez…

Now let’s talk about the new signing we know is elite…

ADIDAS!

Finally, some kits we can believe in.

I’m into all of the kits.

My gut feel is this. Adidas have held back on the away kits. They’re going to go big with bruised banana. From a marketing perspective, my guess is they are going to continue to ride the nineties nostalgia train as we move through our deal with them. No better sports brand in the world to be tied to these days. I am truly over the moon about those shirts.

On the exit list.

Danny W has been released. He never lived up to his potential, but he worked hard for us, scored some important goals. My favourite, outside watching him down United in Sydney, was the one he scored in 2016 against Leicester at home. That sweet moment when we thought we’d win the league. Ahhh, wonderful.

Cohen fucking Brammal has left. Remember the absolute HYPE when we signed him?

Cech, Licht, and Rambo… all gone.

There are strong rumours we’re ditching Ospina. NO NEWS ON JENKO. Stories that Hamburg are bringing in Osei-Tutu. There are a lot of big clubs sniffing around our youth players. My gut as an agent of one of those players would be to look at what Emery does, versus what he says. He is a man under pressure next season, he’ll have zero time for blooding the youth and it’s really not what he’s good at… players like Sancho are going to show the way, and I expect an exodus of the best kids from the Premier League this summer. A little like the time Spain lost a lot of elite kiddie talent back in the day.

Right, that’s my word count done for the day… see you in the comment! x

Pedro Do you think coaching is the problem with players like Mikhi and Kola? If Kola can’t defend at his age and Mikhi still haven’t adapted to the premier league by now then ship them out ffs, no amount of coaching is going to fix that. AMN simply isn’t good enough, probably never will be, but when the other options are Licht and Jenkinson he has to play, and gift 3 goals in a final. We changed managers because Wenger brought us to this point with a useless squad and he was blind to fixing it and was standing in… Read more »

Emery will be with us at least until the January TW. It is too early to already rehearse the attack and defense for the January showdown. A lot can still happen until then.

Saying we have a comparable squad with Chelsea is one of the biggest bare faced lie on the planet.
Hazard, William, Pedro, COH would all work into our squad because we have no wingers.

Jorghino vs Xhaka
Kante vs Torriera
Alonso vs Kolasinac
Azpilicueta vs Bellerin, AMN, Lich, Jenkinson
Luis vs Koscielny
Rudiger vs Sokratis

The only place we are better than Chelsea is in the number 9 position and it was unfortunate our two best players play the same position.

Some players in the bench dint pay attention. They discuss everything from the lass the laid the night before to what nightclub that’s happening after the game.

This season is the first time I’ve seen Arsenal TRYING to be tactically flexible and switching formations during games.
For players who had been baked into the great Monsieur’s oven, it may have been force-feeding a kwashiorkor child with too much food.

Valentin

Dissenter,

Emery changed formation mid way through the game. That information had not been communicated to Iwobi and I am sure to others as well. He spotted that something had changed and went asking to his captain.

Something similar happened in games when we switched from a back 3 to a back 4 and vice versa, often the wingback/fullback on the other side had to get confirmation of the change via big hand sign.

Emery lost his chance t be a meaningful part f Arsenal’s history when we lost in Baku. He could have been one of the three Arsenal managers that won a European trophy.
Instead no one will remember him in 2-3 years time.

Danny Pedro isn’t a hipster.. He is just hurt

He wrote a lot of nice articles about Arteta and the ushering in of an exciting new dawn of the unknown only for Ivan to betray him and opt for common sense. Everything he has written since then has been through gritted teeth and a desire to be proved right.

The dude I can’t figure out is Valentin, it’s almost like Emery hurt him personally. Haven’t seen this level of dislike before between total strangers. It’s one slanderous statement after another. He once called him a dishonest opportunist

I clearly remember Kolasinac having to ask the bench which players he was supposed to mark, because he kept ending up marking two men at set pieces.

If Kolasinac ends of marking two people, shouldn’t you have realized that it meant someone else was loosing his marker?

Looking back in to time via youtube and we have had the pleasure to watch so many great players: sanchez, cazorla, nasri, arshavin, prime kos, rvp, adebayor, rosicky, fabregas, hleb, henry, vieira etc. I think we hogged these players for too long. Take henry….. after the champions league final we should have sold him. He would of been our first 100m player. Van persie should have went for 60m. Nasri and fav for 50m each. Prime sanchez would have been a 70+m player after he had that 30goal season. I loved these players but we sold at the wrong time.… Read more »

Those are the type of players we stacked up our shelves with.
Players that had been chronically mismanaged that had just been told ‘to express’ themselves.

Wenger used to call Ozil ‘perfect’ , not once, not twice…PERFECT.

Azed, Do you know any Chelsea season ticket holder, because if you did most will tell you that their squad is not that great. Azpilicueta was a great defender, he has reached a stage where he is making regular mistakes. Marcos Alonso is their Kolasinac. Great going forward as a wingback. Terrible defender. David Luiz is viewed as being a brilliant passer especially long diagonal passes but having one brain fart per game. Barkley is a show pony who will lose the ball in dangerous situation. Willian has one good performance every three games. There is a reason why people… Read more »

Quite telling that whenever any criticism of Emery emerges there’s always someone quick to yell bias and drop names like Arteta. Or maybe some weren’t overawed with the initial appointment, foresaw a meek season despite hoping for anything but, and then had that embarrassment thrust upon just when we looked to have snuck a winner. Hardly grounds for expecting sizeable improvements by virtue of ‘another go’, we tanked at the obvious improvements we were led to believe were coming (defence, mentality), then spectacularly messed up two golden opportunities in two very different circumstances: 1) a tame run-in against lesser sides,… Read more »

For years we heard that Wenger had the money for transfers but chose not to spend it. It turned out that wasn’t true. When, at last, he had the money, he spent it. But at no time was he honest about that. Maybe it was a commitment made by him in his contract. At any rate, he wasn’t straightforward with the fans. Next season, I expect us to finish 3rd or 4th. For exactly the same reason. Chelsea will be again in transition with a new manager. Their one world class attacking player is gone. Any sensible manager will put Kante Back into his favourite position, but I can’t see Pulisic compensating Hazard loss. ManUtd will buy maybe even sensibly. However if they don’t buy a brand new defense they will be in trouble. They will need DeGea back to his best or his replacement to quickly reach those levels. I think we have a good chance to get top 4 this coming season providing we manage to buy and sell well.

It the transfer ban sticks for Chelsea I think they will struggle, I can see ManU sacking OGS come Christmas / the new Year. The Spud’s have put so many players up for sale I just can’t believe that they don’t have money issues. The number to watch isn’t what they spend but what they generate in sales.

Valentin

Pedro,

What do you hear about the mood of the academy?

What I hear is that Arsenal is now really worried that the next crop is refusing to sign extension. Arsenal, Raul in particular have had lots of meeting with their agents. They are offering money (hence the Guendouzi high raise so he earned more than academy players), but most are not interested. They want guaranteed game time, which is something Arsenal cannot and will not do. Bringing Freddie into the camp is really a desperate move to show Arsenal good faith.

Marc

Lefty

Did you mean “wouldn’t” rather than “would”.

Marc

Valentin

Where are you hearing these rumours?

Fact is the majority of players coming through the academies of the top 6 teams never make careers at those clubs or better ones. How many current players at City, Liverpool, Arsenal, the Spud’s, ManU or Chelsea came through their academies? And I don’t mean guys who were signed at 15 or 16.

Valentin

One of my friends is an accountant for a sport agency. I should not say that, but they are trying to poach some players, so they have to know those things.
Coming in, dangle the possibility of a contract at a German or French club with immediate first team integration.

I think part of the reason Kronke let Wenger amd Gazidis do their fuckery was because they had a giant cock sized amount of cash piled up in the bank and regular top4 positions. As an owner your happy when you see so much cash aswell as champions league income with minimum investment. The catalyst for change was when cl money dried up and wenger was dipping into the treasure chest .Only then did Kroenke think hang on a minute wtf is going on.

Moe

C’mon guys, Chelsea do have a better squad than Arsenal, and it’s not marginal at all. That’s so 1, 2, 3….Jesus Christ. Arguing just for the sake.

I could care less about Emery, but I still pick him up over “saucy”Arteta until such time that Arteta produces a record worthy of comparison. But for Wenger’s cluelessness, a slow ass turd like Arteta could never in a million years play the 6 role in a starting Arsenal 11. Having said that, he was better than Denilson…….lol. Sacre Wenger.

Food for thought: I think a part of the reason everyone isnt convinced by Emery is due to his body language. Everytime the camera cuts to him he looks like a nervous wreck because mustafi or xhaka will fuck shit up any minute. Klopp and Guardiola have good poker faces. I think chelsea have finally nailed down their style. They have also worked us out.

Their midfield 3 bullied our midfield 3 of ozil, xhaka and torreira. Jorginho worked harder than ozil, kovacic was more mobile and involved than xhaka. Kantes engine is unreal which is something torreira could never match.

They also had actual wingers compared to our fullbacks. Overall they played us off the park. I think the same will happen next season if we dont move to a midfielf 3.

We were very defensive vs chelsea. We played 5212 vs their 433. We were so deep in our half that we got pressed into making those mistakes. Chelsea got what they deserved for being braver and better ballers.

We only looked better when monreal was hooked off and iwobi brought on. By then the tie was already lost. You cant run a midfield with ozil xhaka and torreira. There is a third of industry in that midfield. And even then torreira with his small legs doesnt cover as much ground as say sissoko from tottenham or kante.

Danny M.O

Even wenger couldnt balls up the Juve gig. Their defence and midfield are too streetwise to let that happen. He could win the seria the same way he won tue league with GGs defence.

Wengers problem was always the defence. Attacking wise he had it, since the day he lost ggs defence we were not the same. The italian league is a farmers league to Juve who pretty much run that league.

Im pretty sure he could win the seria since chiellini and bonucci would marshall his defence along with matuidi and pjanic bossing the midfield.

The language learning issue is not only educational but cultural tho. Whilst we do start foreign language far too late compared with most of Europe, we start plenty early enough that by 16 kids should have good conversational capabilities in a second language. It’s one thing if you’re a star player where the club may pander to you, but as a kid squad player, a lot of teams are not going to baby you.
