Profile pic down, I repeat, profile pic down

by .

Apologies for the delayed posts, I’m on a shoot, at an airport… which is cool, because you are literally checked in so it’s easy to fly home.

Anyway, Arsenal?

BIG news is Auba has taken down his profile picture on Instagram. That’s news in this SICK world we live in. It’s clearly a purposeful thing because the guy has LOTS of great pictures of himself… so where is he going to go? It’d have to be somewhere with a desperate need of a striker and a lot of cash money. Unlikely to be Madrid after they just signed Jovic. So who?

Why don’t you make yourself useful and find out.

Yes, you.

Maybe it’s just a negotiating tactic… ‘PAY MORE OR I LEAVE MY PICTURE BLANK’

… chapter 4 in Art of the Deal if I remember correctly.

Legendary author Nick Hornby confirmed what I had heard about Aaron Ramsey, it was all on Emery, the player wanted to sign. By now, it’s an irrelevance, he’s gone, but you know… nothing like a little confirmation.

Kola is being chased down by Barca, those surging runs clearly attracting their interest. In a better setup, no doubt he’d have had far more assists this season. It seems the club are very keen to move him on. Hasn’t quite been the breakout hit we’d hoped for, but again, another confirmation that players we have in the squad aren’t utter shite.

News at the training ground has Freddie and Steve Bould switching jobs. Interesting the club aren’t firing our exlegendary centre back, not that I’d want that. Did Bould simply want more say on the team? Are the club being forceful about keeping Arsenal DNA in the ranks? It has certainly looked like Bouldy has the same passion for the manager as Ozil. Those blank stares he does when we drop another early goal are reminiscent of mine when I’m reading an Emery press conference on the .com.

I wonder what the swap out with Freddie is hoping to achieve? I’m not sure I buy the ‘he’ll help bring more young players through’… why would that be? If you’re saying Bould is bad with identifying youth player talent, would it be wise to send him to U23? This is weird, and again, if you have answers, share them.

Umtiti wants to see out his 4 years at Barca… which for me, sounds like good news. I really don’t want to be picking up players from Raul’s old club. That just wouldn’t be right. He’s likely very expensive, and he’s probably going to be a huge risk from an injury perspective moving forward… hence the reason they’re getting rid of a mid-twenties world-class defensive talent.

… and just to cap off a wonderfully positive post. BIG JEFF, the player we all thought would be an Arsenal god, binned by Emery for £4m last summer… is on the verge of a move to Monaco £22m. Notable that Lille, who are run by talent machine Luis Campos, are also in the running.

You literally couldn’t make up Arsenal summers.

See you in the comments. x

Vela had the talent …. not the maturity.

About to win the MLS mvp now that he is older and wiser and in a better place.

Bob Bradley is somewhat of a talent unlocking genius. He helped Mo Salah become the player he is today as well. Worst mistake US Nat. team made was sacking him in favor of Klinsmann. Disastrous decision… culminating in WC qualifying bloodbath. I’m not bitter at all… though.. 😀

TheBoyCornelius

Raul can really change the makeup of the squad in one summer if he is ruthless. If he really has a plan. Ivan talked like he had one but he never saw it through. Wenger always balked at wholesale changes, will Emery. Everyone can see its needed. Out. Cech, Lich, Jenks, Nacho, Mustafi, Xhaka, Ramsey, Welbs. IN. Martinez, Lala, Saliba, Anderson, Tierney, Preat,Ismilla Sarr, Claude Maurice. ….

@Graham62,

People in management talks about values only under specific circumstances
– when they are winning so easily they have to show some humility. Nobody like a winning bully
– when they are not winning. In which case that deflect from underachievement
– when not showing values will make your brand toxic

Bob Bradley didn’t really unlock anything about Vela
The lad was always too good for the MLS. He held his own in La liga and moved to America in his prime. He was always going to dominate the MLS which is still a poor league.
Bob Bradley is just the beneficiary of Vela’s talent.

Marc

Isn’t Bob Bradley the guy off Soccer AM who shouts “Megnuts”?

Vela was mint in La Liga

Even an old David Villa looked like a beast in the MLS let alone Vela at a good age.

Sebastian Giovinco of the mighty head moved there early too and looked like Messi

Did someone highlight on here today that 90% of Arsenal fans were still for Arsene Wenger in 2013?

Er, no they weren’t.

Carlos Vela and his famous wild party. I remember being stuck in a traffic jam on a Saturday at 04:00AM on my way home from a party in North London. Due to road work, my wife and I had decided to go through Hampstead. Wrong decision. The traffic jam was caused by Porsche, Maserati, Ferrari being parked everywhere. Carlos Vela had organised a birthday party with some footballer friends. There were Arsenal and Spurs (invited I supposed by Giovanni Did Santos) players there with their WAGs. To apologise he sent some people to offer us some Champagne flutes. My wife… Read more »

“Be interesting to see how much we get for Xhaka, no more than 15 mil if the experts on here are anything to go by.”

I think this was meant for me. I low-balled the valuations of most of our players a few weeks ago. The most contentious, I assume, were Xhaka, Mustafi, Mkhi and Ozil. Perhaps Chambers too, who I don’t think will go for anything north of £10m.

Let me have it full beans when they leave for serious cash. I’ll take it on the chin.

Most people who talk about values do so to paper over the cracks.

It’s the difference between in practice and in theory.

Arsenal’s theoretical values were honourable but in practical terms we all knew otherwise.

Well, most of us anyway.

No, not especially, the aim was anyone who genuinely thinks we don’t have players that can be turned over for decent cash. The guys that think we’re destined for mid-table mediocrity without changing half the XI.

Those guys who still contest we had a squad capable of challenging top 4 this past season, despite actually competing for top 4 this past season.

The squad we have is ill-balanced, and not particularly suited to certain football pursuits, but this poverty squad idea is absolute waffle.

You’re dreaming if you think that most Arsenal fans wanted Wenger out in 2013.

One of the first organised protests in 2016 I think was met with huge opposition in the stadium.

In a hypothetical situation where Kroenke would have assessed the fan base to look at the possibility of replacing Wenger, he would’ve seen way more fans back Wenger (not saying it was right) and I doubt he would browse or care for blog sites.

It took until at least 2017 for the penny to drop with the vast majority.

Emiratesstroller

Okay a bit of feed back concerning season tickets.

Last year following the departure of Wenger I was advised that season ticket sales had improved.

This year season ticket sales opened and the window is later than in previous years. Tickets need to be purchased by the 10th of month instead of 1st.

I have been advised that sales sofar are exceedingly slow.

At least pretend that Xhaka is good enough for Serie A to will him off the club.
Looks like you want him to stay so that you can have a camel to beat up on.

Paulinho

Xhaka does okay when the opposition switch off or are not at it for whatever reason, but in any league he will struggle when he doesn’t get time on the ball or is forced to create his own time, something which requires an element of ingenuity(something he lacks).

Even for Switzerland he often starts games for them looking sharp but by the mid-point is well and truly out of ideas and struggling to influence games.

Paul Mc Daid

Only job Steve Bould should have at Arsenal is as Gooneraus. A total waste.

Graham62

Marc

That’s a very shallow view on things.

You do realise that a large percentage of fans who entered the Emirates in 2006 as STH’s no longer attend matches because they became fed up and disillusioned with the way the club was being run. I include myself in this.

These same fans remain supporters of the club but decided not to invest in something that was constantly disrespecting them by promoting something that was clearly flawed, which has now been proven.

As previously highlighted, the fanbase covers a huge spectrum of followers , not just those fans who attend games.

Marc

Graham

Yeah but the simple fact is a restaurant where I don’t’ eat at anymore doesn’t take much notice of my opinion if I’m never going back or they’re sold out every week.

I don’t criticise you for deciding to stop going but the fact is as soon as you do you lose leverage.

Marc

Didn’t Steve Bould win the FA Cup when he was running the youth team?

Cesc Appeal

Marc Completely true. People look at the quality of the squad and think ‘Kroenke won’t let us spend’ but the problem is our allocation of funds not availability of funds. We’re one of the highest net spenders going yet we’re the worst team in the top 6. Our squad value is the lowest of the top 6 despite a higher net spend than Spurs and Liverpool.
